I am having trouble painting chipped and battle damaged black armor on my marines. I have tried using darker browns then more grey colors, but they don't seem natural on the armor. Any tips?

Those are fantastic ways to achieve that look he is going for, heck I use the hairspray technique on all my rusted out stuff. However it assumes one has an airbrush....

The best bullet holes I have seen are started before the primer hits the models. Some people just drill them in with a pin vice. I've seen people take the pin and heat it up using a candle or lighter and melt the hole at an angle. Some use a hobby knife to make the effect.
