I was wondering, how might I go about painting the armour in that dirty style? The studio blue is way, way too bright IMHO, and I don't think even a heavy wash would fix it. I'm trying to find a sort of scheme that isn't garish as hell and also evokes the special forces theme.

If you're going for the metallic teal rather than the matte one, and darker too, like in the artwork rather than the official models, I'd consider a heavy drybrush of boltgun metal or another dark silver, then following it with blue glazes. All probably over a white basecoat.

White basecoat > metal drybrush > teal glaze > black wash

I think that might yield decent results.

Im going to be doing a lot of priming and painting tomorrow. I might give it a test for you on one of my old stormtroopers. Will report back.

edit: maybe metal mixed with teal then a blue glaze then black wash? will test several ideas because now I am also curious lol
