Yes they are. The latest positively noted event is Cain's funeral, where he is still technically on duty because the Departmento Munitorum had a note on his file to ignore any reports of his demise because he tended to come back from the dead

I had a hiatus during the Black Crusade fiasco - perhaps someone would be willing to elaborate? If what I've gathered is somewhat accurate, it involves GW agreeing to advance the storyline based on won campaigns but then reneged when evil won, or something?

None of the events of the 13th BC have actually happened yet, in the narrative of the game. The 13th BC is just now starting...

But all the books are noted as being excerpts from his memoirs edited together after his death. If it's absolute fact, then its Check Number needs to exist to tell us where it happened. That's what Check Numbers are for. Since it's missing, we have to assume that either the information remains unverified, or we need to assume that the first number *is* a Check Number, which indicates that all data to follow is subjective. You need a total of 7 numbers prior to the M to have a full Imperial Date, so either it's missing a Check Number (and is thusly not confirmed) or it has a Check Number (9), and is thus subjective and unverified data that purports to happen very early in 999.M41 (with a Year-Fraction of 94, out of 1000).
