How do I deal with flying daemon princes

I play IG and Dark Angels and my buddy likes to play 2 flying slaneesh daemon princes that wreak holy hell on my armor. How should I deal with them? I am just looking for general ideas and weapons options that work well. I cannot run vendettas and do not intend to run them and would also like to see suggestions other than "vendettas /thread" but I am open to suggestions besides vendettas.

Re:How do I deal with fly daemon princes

Here's the problem. 7th edition change to interceptor/skyfire interaction made dedicated anti-air platforms really crumby. This makes the only worth while anti-air in the game on flying platforms.....aka vendettas (since the DA flyers are some steaming piles of garbage).

1. Vendettas /thread. Best choice. Most effective as anti-air, and most flexible overall. No idea why you are against them, but you are leaving yourself at a serious disadvantage.
2. Mortis Dread. Forge world book. Basically a dreadnought with a double weapon loadout (lascannons is nice) that can choose to skyfire if it doesn't move.
3. Allies. Storm Talons and Storm Raven via the Storm Wing detachment. Other flyer options are available as well.
4. Fortifications. Icurus lascannons, quad icarus cannons and flakk-cannons are passable. If they are taking the 3+ save, the flakk cannons are going to be fairly ineffective.
5. Hydras would option #5 I guess. Slow/Immobile, poor armor, not very effective against 3+ save flying MCs and poor when they aren't facing flyers. No one takes them for a reason.

How do I deal with flying daemon princes

Vendettas are OK - they wont match the DP's, since it would take 3 Vendettas to do almost enough unsaved Wounds on average to kill 1 DP. They are cheaper than a kitted out Slaanesh Prince though.

Otherwise Rapid Fire a blob of 50 Guardsmen, with Prescience and the order that gives Monster Hunter. Rerolling To Hit on 6's and rerolling To Wound on 6's with nearly 100 shots would do about 3 unsaved wounds against if the DP had the 3+ armour save. Almost as good as 3 Vendetta's lol.

Or, if the DP want to land (remember they have to wait a turn before they can charge after landing) just bubble wrap your tanks with that same blob, stick a Priest in for Fearless and counter-charge to tarpit the Demon Princes up. A DP only has 5 attacks per turn, so you should last 3-4 turns easy. Plus, with that many attacks back you may even kill him over 2-3 turns (as long the DP doesn't get Iron Arm of course - make sure your friend is rolling Pyschic Powers and the Demonic Rewards in front of you, because they are meant to be random....)

Re:How do I deal with flying daemon princes

Ignore them?

Flying DP's are really nothing on what they used to be. Slaanesh ones will use their whip to try to get the flanks of vehicles.

If you can use infantry/terrain to prevent these side shots (which isn't too difficult, as the DP only has a 12 range), then the model is barely a threat.

If he rolls iron arm then it would be a different matter, as he could engage the tanks from the front.

Overall lash DPs are pretty mediocre. Compare it to a tyrannid Flyrant for a good example of a ranged dakka FMC.

I do not have my book on me, so I can't site the rule exactly as it's written, but basically skyfire works against FMCs no matter if they're in the air or not.

As for how to handle the daemon princes. Drown them in dice. 3 Leman Russ Punishers could do the trick, and they don't even need skyfire to get it done. Whatsmore, they'll be good against anything else on the board if / when needed. Just a thought.
