I was attempting to go through the "Tactics Mechanics" thread but all of the Cult listing are not there. Has anyone anything to offer to help field Kastelan robots more effectively? Kastelans are punishingly slow and susceptible to the general consensus of the "online meta" i.e. grav spam for imperium/SM and Strength D / S6 Spam for Eldar. These are the two most played races and should consider first when designing a list .

The best load out for Kastelans are 2 Heavy Phospher blasters. As they are MCs already, they already come with Smash so theres not all that much gained from power fists - especially when they are walking the whole distance. With Phosphor, this gives you a good anti bike/ anti MEQ gun platform however you need canticles to boost their shooting ability. Theres a pretty good but incredibly expensive formation that lets you create a Deathstar with a minimum of 2 units of kastalens and a dominus. I'm sure you've read it however theres a cool in-depth look over this formation on FLG.

The best way to field SWs right now are Thunderwolves - as these are expensive units themselves, i don't think that Kastalans would compliment them all that much. Kataphrons on the other hand with grav compliment everything and anything - especially as they are hitting with concussive SR and most thunderwolves have fists and hammers.

Skitatii compliment SWs quite well too with good AA and scouting ability. Overall I prefer the Skitarii codex but theres a few tricks in the cult mech book that are awesome.

Avoid Electropriests. 18 pts for a T3 guy with a 5+ is dogshite. No need to even consider these for a game other than they look cool. massive shame.

He only needs 1 unit of breachers/destroyers if he wants to run them in an Allied Detachment.

Kastelans are tough if you need a unit to sit on objectives, they're too slow to be an effective assault unit though, they're better in their shooty configuration. 2 destroyer grav cannons are pure murder pored into a servitor shaped mold

3 vanguard are number 1 radiation guns destroy EVERYTHING (except tanks)

4 tech priest dominus does not need upgrades, take him stock and shove a relic on him if you feel like it.

5 remember you have no transports BUTyou do get a free scout move on all your skitarii units; cult units weather the storm and skitarii are the hammer you use to stove the enemies head in while they chuck 99% of their fire at the destroyers (seriously if those fire once any opponent is going to prioritize killing them)

Destroyers with grav are one of the best units in the game
Scicarian infiltrators are fun but really really fragile and difficult to use
