Re:Christmas Gift for my BF

I'll make the following recommendations for gifts that will be useful/fun and not break the proverbial bank.

First, Ork Glyph Plates & Doors, which will run you 9.50 British pounds ($14.43 before shipping):

http://www.forgeworld.co.uk/en-US/Ork-Glyph-Plates-and-Doors

Second, the Ork Tranfers Decal Sheet which is 13.00 British pounds ($19.75 before shipping):

http://www.forgeworld.co.uk/en-US/Ork-Transfer-Sheet

Lastly, some Gretchin Crew are always fun for vehicles and the like, and they're 25.00 British pounds ($37.98 before shipping):

http://www.forgeworld.co.uk/en-US/Gretchin-Crew

Those are my suggestions at the low, medium, and higher end of a budget price point for a gift. Also, I'd be very surprised if he has any of these three items, especially the gretchin crew.

Hopefully that helps, and best of luck with your shopping.

Take it easy.

-Red__Thirst-

Christmas Gift for my BF

Love that mini, perfectly captures the comedic relief of the Gretchin in the Ork army.

Of the three suggestions above, I think your boyfriend will get the most use out of the Tranfer sheet, since he can use the decals on already painted models, be they vehicles or his Ork Boyz and Nobz, to help individualize them. Bonus points that it's a little under $20.00 (Shipping not withstanding)

Can't go wrong with another box of Boyz also. Regardless I think he'll be happy to get whatever you decide to purchase for him. Hopefully this narrows the field a little at least.

If you have any other questions feel free to ask. Basically it is a bunch of tiny little thin pieces of metal that go on the sides of vehicles, banners and the like to add extra detail to them and allows you to modify your models and personalize them. People are just so ungrateful these days.

If you have to buy a gift card for someone, you shouldn't be buying anything then. Basically you are doing something because you have to and can't take the effort to do so. The Original Poster is taking an effort to do so. So my suggestion is, ask the boy friend what he would like within a certain amount of money. Just know that $20 will not really buy anything good or of substance for a Games Workshop product.

My suggestion, spend the money and get something more Star Wars.

Basically it is a bunch of tiny little thin pieces of metal that go on the sides of vehicles, banners and the like to add extra detail to them and allows you to modify your models and personalize them. Orks, as a race, make everything out of scrap and nothing looks uniform, these help bring that aesthetic to the fore.

Thank for for the further explanation!

Automatically Appended Next Post:

Kanluwen wrote:
In that vein, I would suggest this:
Forge World Virtual Gift Voucher.

Be aware that their prices are in British pounds, and 1 GBP is roughly 1.50 USD and they have something like 15% of the order total as shipping charges. You can always but a little note on it to remind him how he says "you can never have enough". This will mean to him that you listen to him on what he says on his hobby he likes so much and you show an interest to him.

Whittlesey40k wrote:How about a free present - surprise him by learning 40k and playing a game with him (I'm assuming you don't play).

Regardless of what you do or buy, total kudos for joining a forum and asking for advice, I'm sure he'll appreciate it.

If you can handle it, try and game with him as well or at least paint with him to if that is your thing and don't do it already.

Re:Christmas Gift for my BF

First, you are awesome for trying to find a gift for him related to this hobby. (My wife is accepting of my interest, and only laughs at me a little bit these days. )

Yes, more Boyz are always welcome. You can often get them second-hand for as little as $1/model on eBay (typically in lots of 10). The other posters above offered lots of great suggestions. I will add my voice to the crowd of "play a game with him". It might not be your thing, but I think he will appreciate the offer. Another idea: if you are crafty at all, maybe get a blank t-shirt and some fabric paint, and write "Da Red Wunz Go Fasta!" on it. He will love it. Trust us.
