That was my interpretation, too. Both the Hunter Cadre and the Dawn Blade can be taken as either TE or FSE, however, there would be no inherent advantage in taking a TE DBC other than better sig systems and slightly cheaper units.

I'll have to check my physical copy of Mont'ka to see if the wording is different, but the digital copy states: "If you wish, you can say that Any Tau Detachment or Formation in your army is from the Farsight Enclaves." and then goes on to describe the differences between using normal Tau, and FSE Tau stuff. Then right before the DBC entry it reads: "The Dawn Blade Contingent is a Farsight Enclaves Detachment." Leading me to believe, you can field a FSE Hunter Contingent, but NOT a Tau Empire Dawn Blade Contingent.

While I know battle scribe lets you field DBC as a regular Tau Empire list, I personaly think the wording prohibits it. How is this in any way on topic or helpful to the OP? The person who started this thread wanted help, not complaining. FSE is a different style, and if they use lots of squads of Crisis suits can be easily tabled because they are basicly 2W marines with special weapons. FSE has the same strengths TE does, Riptides, Ghostkeels, and Stormsurges. Thanks for the help guys. For now I will just run DBC as FSE. I have an apoc game Saturday and I am gonna run riptide wing and one huge DBC. Maybe throw in a armored interdiction just to get some S10 shots against the titans. If he has Titans I highly recommend taking at least a few hammerheads, skyrays and some deep striking fusion Crisis suit teams to help strip away shields and get to those hull points. Let us know how it goes!

You want to strip shields as soon as possible, followed by raining D-missiles.

List is a contingent with hunter cadre, 3x OSC with velocity trackers, armoured interdiction cadre

ranged support cadre
riptide wing
drone net all maker drones. 5k in total. I have no storm surges but a teammate is running 3 so Im running 4 riptides, 8 broadsides, and I am mostly worrying about anti air.

I have 60 kroot creating a meat shield against the bugs who will undoubtedly be heading right into my face.
