[1850] - Alpha Legion - Make CSM great again!

I like to take some factions and units that "the internet" says stink, and use them effectively in competitive settings. I took a 1000 point CSM list using all of the below units to Adepticon for the Bringing the Hobby Back doubles event, and they did very well. My teammate and I went 2-1, and I've continued to do well with a beefed up version. I've decided to jump into the Superheavy pool, as I've never used one before. I think it's just what CSM need to add some major threat. Here's the list, which is a Forgeworld Purge detachment using the Crimson Slaughter supplement.

HQ
1- Arkos the Faithless
ELITES
6- Chosen: 4 Meltaguns, upgraded to Draznicht's Ravagers, Dreadclaw drop pod
4- Terminators: Combi-Plasma/Lightning Claws on all
1- Mutilator: Mark of Nurgle
1- Mutilator: Mark of Nurgle
1- Mutilator: Mark of Nurgle
1- Mutilator: Mark of Nurgle
HEAVY
1- Fire Raptor: autocannons
1- Maulerfiend
1- Maulerfiend
LORD OF WAR
1- Demon Knight Paladin of Nurgle

Inquisitorial Detachment:
1- Xenos Inquisitor: 2 Servo Skulls
3- Plasma Cannon Servitors: Chimera transport

I've found that with enough threat overload, the Mutilators get ignored; when they get into combat with infantry, they tend to be blenders. If there are no infantry to blend, they make great little objective holders. I put in an Inquisitor because I like them, I like Plasma, and Servo Skulls rule, let's face it. Keep those pesky scouts away, and help my Paladin's shots be more accurate. This is a very assaulty, beta-strike army, that hits like a truck. I'm curious to hear people's thoughts.

Where is arkos the faithless going? In the dreadclaw I would assume. What is good about him?

Are the terminators deepstriking? I don't see stock terminators with lightning claws making their points back in a competitive setting. But hey it's definitely an in your face threat, takes more heat off the mutliators.

Also mutliators? I love the balls on this guy. I have always thought they would be fun if I could make them work. So good on you I guess.

He's T5, with the rest of the stats of a Chaos Lord, comes with counterattack, allows you to choose your deployment zone without rolling, allows re-roll for seize the initiative, and comes with a S+2 AP3 Rending sword and a combi-melta. He's a great beatstick. I've found that counterattack is great on a unit of chosen, since they have 4 attacks on the charge, 5 for Arkos. I pop out, melta something, and wait for a charge; if you don't charge me, I'm coming to you next turn. Sometimes I also just stay in the Dreadclaw when it comes down, then move in and melta/assault turn 2. I LOVE the Dreadclaw with this unit, they never let me down.

I do deep strike the Terminators; they will typically do one of 3 things for me: drop in and Plasma something to death (thumbs up), drop in and soak up a bunch of fire and take the heat off other units (Arkos, Maulerfiends, Mutilators, etc.), or be left alone and they assault some infantry and shred them to pieces. All good things for a 160 point investment.

Mutilators, if you just look at their stats, suck in the worst way. However, if left alone, they are actually great at killing or tying up infantry, or using their Chainfists to wreck those annoying free Rhinos and Razorbacks and Drop Pods, or just hiding out of LoS to take an objective. Not an expensive investment for another toolbox unit. I just wish they could run, for pete's sake!
