Two noobs vs a tournament veteran, looking for scenarios that doesn't make it one sided

Here's the basic details:

A friend and I have been playing twice a month, and our mutual friend, a veteran with over ten years of experience, made it known that he wants to play. The last time he showed up, he crippled us by turn two, and annihilated us by turn three. It wasn't fun when all you're trying to do is survive with no chance to win.

He knows the game inside and out at a degree neither of his friends do, which is why he agreed to follow any rules or handicaps I suggest in order to keep things fun for us and challenging for him.

I'm playing Eldar, my friend is either playing Tau, Necrons or some sort of Imperial alliance. Veteran is playing either Chaos or Tyranids. I was thinking of recreating the Eldar vs Tyranids Apocalypse battle by StrikingScorpion82, but the difference in skill level is still disproportionate so I'm going to need some ideas if we even agree to do this. Other scenarios would be appreciated as well, as long as they provide one side a severe disadvantage (as per his request).

Re:Two noobs vs a tournament veteran, looking for scenarios that doesn't make it one sided

You might try to allow the "noobs" to use massive ouflaanking as regard to this:

Tyranids are advancing through Tau Empire. The fight turns desperatly into a stunning defeat while tau calls for reinforcements never find an answer else than the commander hammering: none is available. At the most critical point, though, the situation changes: Edars, whose Craftworlds stands between the Tau planet and the hive fleet, secretly land...

On a grim morning, the Tau army gets ready to launch an offensive which aim's to slow the tide down, alongside a few eldars they found out around. But at the very moment as it begins, Something incredible happens: eldars strike from the flanks to help annihilate the alien hordes!!.

Mission: standart apart from the fact that the Eldar player arrives from the flanks with half his army. He's allowed to choose where his units arrive in so far as it was all prepared.

That's a team mission.

For head to head combat, you might lean towards a scenarion in which the taus, defending against the chaos (or tyranid) army: they start hidden in cover and play first on a roll of 3+.
Hidden: the units that are hidden gain a +2 cover save until the act.

That should prevent you from getting totally wiped out during the 10 first minutes.

If you try them then tell me whether it worked. I might try to post more.

So he's walking into a trap? I'm taking your idea and adding to it here, basing it off your ideas combined with the video I mentioned above:

What if the Tyranids start to charge toward the Tau that's preparing for a last stand with a handful of Eldar ranged units, and by the second turn, the remaining Eldar appear from the Tyranids table edge, effectively sealing them in between two fronts.

Tau or Necrons (depending on the player) are deployed on one side of the table, the defenders. There will be a small Eldar force supporting them (possibly with a Harlequin detachment).

Tyranids or CSM (again, depending on the player) are deployed on the other side of the table and have to haul ass across to break the defense line, the attackers.

On turn three, or when the attackers cross the halfway point of the battlefield, the Eldar show up from the table edge where the attackers first deployed, giving them a second flank to worry about.

If Tau are chosen, Necrons won't be, and vice versa.

If Tyranids are chosen, CMS won't be, and vice versa.

The only constant will be the Eldar and Harlequins, which I'm getting.

He's not cheating, he's just that much better so we have to actually put an effort into finding a scenario where the odds of him winning are equal to the odds of him losing.

In a general manner, three way exist to give a faction an edge: Special rules, more points, or outflanking sceanrio.
You shoud try several missions, but with no will to be criticising, i dread if you win this one, he'll demand to play normally afterwards...
