I'd strongly consider taking the Grenadiers doctrine on the Plasma Veterans. Dropping the Scions down to Melta and cutting the Autocannons gives you the 30 points necessary. The main reason to use an allied detachment is to shoehorn in a single good unit into a battleforged list. IE using it to get a squad of Space Marine centurions.
