Does anyone actually play Kill Team: Haralds of ruin

I'm very tempted to start playing kill team before I actually start playing W40k because I don't have a large enough collection of miniatures to play a game. Although, kill team sounds just as fun in its own right and If I enjoy it enough I might just stick with that . I want to hear about your experiences playing kill team and whether you would recommend starting with it for a newbie like me. Also a general question, which do you prefer to play?

Does anyone actually play Kill Team: Haralds of ruin

It's amazing. Quick, short games with lots of terrain. Good for making campaigns out of. Doesn't cost too much to get into. There's still some balance issues but it's way less of a problem than in the actual game.

With Kill Team becoming my main focus I'm actually thinking of expanding into other armies, instead of feeling trapped with the one I've primarily invested in. I could buy a Start Collecting Tau or Space Wolves box and blam, I have most if not all of the models I need for a Kill Team. That and I can focus on painting just a few models to a good standard instead of mass painting a huge army.

Though I do play guard, so my mass of bodies is not very effective at all... and they're put in squads... I suppose they're more like one model if they're in a squad.

Wraiths and Crisis Suits, especially an Iridium Armour Crisis Suit, have been very effective in the games I have played and observed during a 6 player campaign. I'm now considering making a Space Wolves list with a Powerfist Thunderwolf to try and counter things like that.

Do you think Scouts would be effective in Kill Team? I want the look and feel of a fast, elite force but I'm worried they won't perform well.

There's suggested campaign rules. Any squad bonuses is to everyone within 6 or 3 inches instead. You don't have to roll to move through cover or run. There's optional injury rules so that instead of dying, your troops might get knocked down or knocked out instead. Almost completely focused on infantry.

I have played against a Genestealer kill team and I could see them being pretty effective. Especially on heavily built up urban maps where line of sight is completely cut off, and when they face the smaller more elite armies. Not my uh... mass of conscripts and a heavy flamer army. The knocked down and stunned thing. One hit kill weapons like meltas actually have a use then.

I am confused at how stunned works though, and will endeavour to houserule that one a little...

Its not taht bad

1-2 on your butt
3-4 on your face
5-6 off the board

If you are already on your but 1-4 is on your face
5-6 is off board

if on face/stunned any more wounds is off the board

On your back you are auto hit in melee but can strike back,

on your face in melee you are removed as a casualty

when its your turn you advance one outta the stage you are in, if stunned/on face on your turn you roll over to your butt and can move 3 inches only fire snap snot.

Then you go from butt to feet, only can fire snap shots.

Automatically Appended Next Post:

kronk wrote:
So HoR allows 2+ saves?

Yes, they also allow you to take anything from an army thats not a vehicle, aside from transports, heavy, HQ or LOW

You can, and i did, run a full terminator deathwing army.

The problem is, if you do a campaign, where you go above 200 points, 2+ saves are not really that good, and you want more bodies simply because of the way wounding works in the game. Early on 2+ are nice, but it quickly gets overshadowed.

Also there is no D in the game, any weapon that is normally D is just Strength 10, which still sucks but still.

Currently we are working on how to get walkers into the game, IE wraith lords and dreadnoughts.

If you have a squad, can every member in that squad throw a grenade?

That's how I did it when I played, every conscript would mass throw frag grenades. Not saying it was very effective and they often scattered back on themselves.. ahem.
