New Raven Guard - need some assorted help

Hello, as the title says I am a new Raven Guard player and I am in need of some help in several items. Thanks in advance!!

1. Rules - Raven Guard rules are spread from here to there and so hard to make sure I know what to get where. Does anyone have a list of what books contain Raven Guard rules? I know there is an e-book on GW's site called 'Codex: Raven Guard' but there is not a lot of info as to what is actually in the book. Any help would be great!

2. Infiltration - I am repeatedly told that this is a RG rule but I am uncertain as to where it is located to make sure. The Space Marine codex just shows Strike from the Shadows and Winged Deliverance

3. This one is odd, but is there a list somewhere of jargon used in WH 40k/30k games? Or perhaps a quick reference sheet? Often I understand due to context but I feel like this would totally help someone who is new like me.

New Raven Guard - need some assorted help

Welcome to Dakka and the Space Marines.

For the most part, all you need rules-wise is the basic Codex: Space Marines. However, there are a number of formations and extras you can use (but don’t need to). There was a warzone with Ravenguard and White Scars vs. Tau, that was broken up over a couple of books, but I think everything relevant from a rules POV was reprinted in the Angels of Death supplement. Which does have quite a number of nice things in it.

From a fluff/story POV, the RG are big on infiltrating. I know at least one of their special characters infiltrates (Shrike). But they don’t get it army-wide as far as I know.

Dakka has mouseover pop-ups for a lot of things. That will help out a little bit here. We do tend to be jargon happy as a group though, sorry about that. Don’t be afraid to ask for clarification.

New Raven Guard - need some assorted help

Everything that is in codex Raven Guard is contained within Angels of Death, but it's slightly updated to contain a few tweaks such as Contemptor Dreadnoughts. You also get access to all the other chapter rules too. It's a much better purchase.

Raven Guard used to have Scout as part of their chapter tactics. This got removed. They do not have infiltration, I don't know why someone is telling you this. (EDIT as said above it could be because of Shrike)

Some of their formations do allow some cool outflanking manoeuvres and such, and they are a lot of fun to play. I recommend getting the Angels of Death book and reading up on it yourself.

New Raven Guard - need some assorted help

Greetings, Brother Raven, and welcome to Dakka. Not much to add to the folks that already posted, but I'm really excited to have more of my Black Feathered Brethren on the forums.

As for rules and rule books, Codex Space Marines and Angels of Death have all the rules you need to be a proper Son of Corax. Add the Kauyon supplement for some interesting missions and some good ol' fashion fluff.

Infiltrate is a purely Shrike trait which he applies to the unit he attaches to (as per the recent GW FAQ). If you want it more widespread in your army I would suggest going heavy on Scouts for troops (a very fluffy choice) or take a pinion battle company for the special Outflank rule.

Victoris Aut Mortis Brother.

The ability to guide groups of tactical squads on from outflanking reserve is pretty sweet IMO. Coupled with the lovely ignores cover fun that the scout sergeants can pass to the tactical squads, it's double the fun. I mean there's nothing to stop Raptors taking a Pinion formation. But Lias can't join in the fun sadly.

New Raven Guard - need some assorted help

Wow guys! Thanks for all of the fantastic info!! I ended up buying the Raven Guard eBook and it is indeed just a step up from Angels of death (compared with a friend) Now I will just need to find a copy of the Space Marine Codex and I should be good.

I would be lying if I said I wasn't a bit dismayed that we do not infiltrate but I will make it work. I was more perturbed that my Dark Furies are simply assault troops in 40k. Oh well, I will make it work.

Thanks for all of your help!
