Not disputing the naturalness of the pose, but are you aware of the artwork this model is based on?

This. The sculpt is exactly what it is supposed to be: an homage to a classic piece of artwork. I was not aware of it being based on that piece of artwork. However for me that doesn't change anything about the model, just the person needing the slapping.
Also I'm sure they could have decided to fix the pose, even if just slightly, and it would still have payed homage to the drawing, without inducing leg cramps by looking at it.
