I can't remember if Kano died in the first one (not that it matters in the MK universe), but he was awesome. The spam leg sweep scene involving him was great.

I think that is him at about 1:09.

I'm not sure how you do bumbling idiot saves the world with Mortal Kombat. I guess they could go lore accurate and bad end this one, but I'm not all that invested enough to worry about it. It wasn't that they couldn't afford him. He thought the script was terrible and turned it down. And he wasn't wrong.

A little concerned that they've gone the MK: Annihilation route of jamming too many characters in at the expense of actual story. Otherwise, this looks fun.
