With that said, I don't see why we should assume Chaos fixes it, unless "fixing" it is used by Chaos specifically to lure said BA into treachery (which totally would be something it'd do).

It doesn't. If the Rage triggers, it's over for anyone around that Astartes.

If you can get a hold of Deathstorm it shows a really good example of the Black Rage. The Death Company still remember their names and that they are Blood Angels but think they are at the Siege of Terra fighting the hordes of the Warmaster. In the book they're on a world being invaded by Tyranids and their minds justify the Xenos as daemons, mutants or corrupted Astartes. They recognise their fellow Blood Angels but keep asking for them to follow Sanguinius in the strike on the Vengeful Spirit.

Imperial aligned soldiers don't get a pass because they are Ultramarines, Cadians or Martyred Lady. They die because they aren't Sons of Sanguinius and are clearly minions of the Warmaster. In the most severe state, every enemy is Horus himself and in the throes of the Rage, everything is an enemy.

It's because DC appearances, like so many other things, are meant to be somewhat rare.

It would indeed be unsustainable if they had to cull a squad or so after every fight. But outbreaks seem to occur sporadically enough that the losses can be sustained.

Fixing it would just mean it dint kill the blood angel. I imagine this would happen by combining the black rage with a warp mutation. This would be an awesome character. Such a Marine is probably going to kill both chaos and loyalists since Chaos probably won't be able to make chaos marines look like fellow Blood Angels, but it can probably make the Marine kill former comrades.
