Project: metal beast (40k Beastmen) @ 2012/04/29 17:24:56

Post by: mayajid

Hi all-This is my first post on here. So hoping to pop my Dakka cherry the right way I thought I might start a Project log- in hope that I might get more motivation to do the rest of what needs to be done and get some new ideas.
Any way- Being both a fantasy and a 40K player it saddens me a bit that there is’t really a 40k Beastmen type army. I mean there is- but usually it’s just a spin-off single unit or so for the IG or Chaos Space marines. There is very little background on them as well, even when you compare them to the Squats (man I miss them)
Having a bit of time on my hands lately, I’ve decided to do a whole army of 40k beastmen- ARMY OF THE METAL BEASTS
I’m going to be using the space wolves codex for this because I think in the 40k universe they are kind of the closest thing- tactic and feel of the army-
Ambush rules- behind enemy lines of the scouts-
Gifts-sagas
Counter attack- primal fury (I guess)

And somehow Space wolves units kind of fits whith the beastmen units too-
Gors- grey hunters/ blood claws
Bestigors- Wolf guards
Minotaurs- those wolf riders thing
Harpies- jump pack
Centigors- blood claw bikes
Shaman- wolf priest
Gorgons- dreadnaughts
dogs are dogs etc.

The only thing that not really in line with the fantasy beastmen is the They shall know no fear rules- cuz boy, do they run. Oh well, they evolved a higher Leadership I guess.
I decided to start this army diary in hope to inspire other beast lords out there to venture out into the dark reaches of space too (that, and I need more ideas on what else to do).
Bestigors (wolf guards) With power fist and bolt pistols

I’ve spent many hours on the internet and Ebay just looking for these legs. They are perfect I think. The power fist are from lightning claws- I just cut off the claws and cut grooves into the knuckle bit so it looks like knuckle dusters. By the way the reason a lot of the parts is in different color is because it’s from my bit box and other models that I have and hacked up.
Gors (grey hunters)

Special weapon(melta guns)/power weapons

By the way the shoulder pads are from the Space marine commander box. I scour the internet looking for these but could find any or if I did, it was at an extortionate price. So I’ve was a bit naughty and made copies of one of them using instant mould.

Beast Lord on razorgor (wolf lord on wolf thing)

I haven’t done the head properly to the mount yet or neaten up the green stuff yet. But will put them up when it’s done. The front legs of the mount came from a random toy I got from Daiso (it’s the 60 baht shop here in Thailand (the equivalent of the dollar store in the US or Pound land in the UK.))( I miss pound land living here in Thailand).

Ungors (wolf scouts + special weapons)

For the normal ungors, I still don’t know what to do with the back. It’s a bit scrawny right now・
Also I have no idea on what to do or use for Rhinos, razor backs, and drop pods if anyone have any Ideas please help me- it will be very much appreciated.

Sacrificing two or three Space beastmen for the greater good I’ve finally found and settled on a color scheme I liked.

Troops- Grey hunters (Gor Hunters unit)

There will be three units of grey hunters-2 unit will have a razor back and one in a drop pod (still have no idea what to do for a razor back or the drop pod- so if anyone have any suggestions I will really appreciate it)

Any hoo these are the grey hunters with melta guns-

Grey hunters with power weapons-

Painted Wolf guards (Bestigors)-

With a lot of bits and green stuff sculpting- I give you minotaurs!!!! (thunder wolf calvary)

Finally the leader of my whole rag tag iron beast- Beast lord on a wolf thing ( Wolf lord on wolf thing..)

As I said I have no idea what to do about vehicle so if any of yall have any idea or suggestion- it would be most appreciated and also critics on the paint job or modeling in general are all welcome and is appreciated as well.

That's all for now will update on any further progress as soon as I can

These look brilliant I'm hugely impressed by the Juggernaught/Minotaur things. The conversions look interesting. Have you seen the Space Goats on Bell of Lost Souls by the way. I will admit though to thinking that the Ork list would fit Beastmen better than Space Wolves though.

Love the conversions. The stealth suit lower legs on the Gors is inspired. Again, these are definitely worth the exalt!

Very Very Very cool . . .

I like how you have them all with horns and hooves. love the paint job great army plan, and super great conversions.

Some suggestions . . .

If you are still painting the units, you should make the Scouts more Camo like so they will look different than your Elite and other Troop choices.

For the blood splatter you might think about a gloss or median to make it shine. From your basing it looks like you might have an air brush, maybe you can airbrush the Power Swords. There are tutorials on YouTube but if you don’t have one, maybe wet blending. Maybe a red, yellow, black or something would work.

You can soak the models used for paint testing in Simple Green and scrub them to make them ready new again.

Ideas:

I know it is kind of Fluffy or Cheesy, but since your army is all goat-like you can make the vehicles the same. Tanks would be hard to do. You could try to use dwarf vehicles, ork bits, and stone plates on a Space marine Rhino. The size and wholes would be the same, so you could change out weapon options from Rhino, to Razorback, to Predator. . . with all the options.
Orks use scrap medal, Salamanders use scales, maybe you could try stone slabs.

As for a Drop Pod, I was thinking like a meteor pod. Tyrinids use a pod like a bug, or plant. Think back to the video games; Ork Supplies came down in meteor like balls of medal.

Your Drop Pod could be like this ball of medal. Instead of strait scrap medal, you could make it look like the head of a Rahm (like battering Rams). The neck could be made into a turbine or jet or helicopter, and you can put other bits around it so it looks more like a the Lunar module that NASA uses. Or you could make it like a full body of a Bison, that is the shape of a drop pod already. Once landed it could open up like a Pocy Ball, or a hot dog. The base could be a Crater and the seating and weapons could be the same as regular drop pod with the weapon on top of the circle.

Oh, man, I had it in my head, and after looking online for like 3 hours to spell it out I found it. . . It is not a model but it is exactly what I had in mind.

What do you think?

http://www.hamillgallery.com/BAULE/BauleRamMasks/BauleRamMasks.html

If you are talented with scrap building you can make it happen. Lot to take in Advice but couldn't stop thinking.

I love these, almost tempted to make one or two myself - those are some sort of Tau legs? I also love the colours, chipped yellow is my current obsession, it looks really cool. I think the feet look a bit small on the robo-minotaurs but I love that concept so much it doesn't bother me. You could add some gloss to the blood though, that would make it look fresh and wet rather than dried.

For vehicles I would be tempted to use giant cyborg beasts, maybe the Ogre Stonehorn could be armoured up and given a few guns to count as a razorback, with beastmen hanging from it's flanks. No idea for a drop pod.

Short progress report- Continuing with the project very slowly at this point because I ran out of parts...ordered more, but the curse of living in Thailand and ordering stuff off ebay is that it takes AGES for anything to come even with fed ex and all that. It's torture because you got the time urge and Idea but have to wait for the bits to come.... Bits -the opium of the miniature masses.

Any ways -so I did what I could with what I had on hand while I wait.

More rocks for the base

Long horns heard leader (Long fang squad leader)

Don't ask me why but I'm stupidly proud of these little dudes-
Servo skulls

Together you get

War gor or shaman (I guess)-(Wolf priest/chapin)

Look they're actually real shoulder pads!!!!

That's it for now...hope the bits come soon.... As I said bits are definitely the opium of the miniature masses....I think I'm currently suffering from withdraws...

Great idea and great execution on the conversions.

My only little nitpick is that the legs and especially the hooves for your minotaurs look way too small to support those monsters.

Thanks every body for the comments much appreciated.

Adrian Fue Fue- thank you for all the suggestions- Sadly I don’t have an air brush to do the great effect that it can do… want one tho…
I have how ever took you up on your Idea of making the blood more shiny by using tamiya clear red in some of the blood bits. Looks a lot more gorier now
The scout I’m still playing around with- but I scrapped that original version I put up earlier because they looked way too scrawny, but I do like the camo idea and probably will do that kind of thing.

Bruticus- I was thinking of doing the ogre thing as well at first but the size of the stonehorn is too big (in reality rhinos should be at least that size to fit 10 space marines in…) I like the cyborgy beast Idea… my lord is riding one so it might fit into the army- thanks
ps
those are Tau stealth suite legs

Amazing, love the paint job. Did you use weathering powders on these to get that effect on the armour?

Doombiscuit wrote:Amazing, love the paint job. Did you use weathering powders on these to get that effect on the armour?

under coated black-
the yellow bits- GW Iyanden darksun base- gryphonne sepia wash all over the yellow.
Then Iyanden darksun is reapplied on -the leaving where shadows should be, round some of the edges, and bits around where you want the chips to be.
It is then highlighted with Bleached bone. I also put random blobs of bleached bone around the armor then paint scorched brown within the blobs to create a chipped armor effect.
some of the chipped bit- if you want it a bit darker- just mix the scorched brown and chaos black together then paint it on.

the black bits- start with fortress grey (GW) then shade it to black as you go down each of the armor parts (light on top black on bottom). then just paint chips on it with any silver.

After every thing is done including skin, horns, guns, etc.- I spray them with any shiny clear gloss spray, wait for that to dry, then lightly spray them with flat clear spray (flat over coat). This gives the model a sort of egg shell finish. Also it brings out a lot of the shading and add a bit more detail I think.

By the way- I am running out of GW paint that I mentioned(Iyanden darksun, gryphonne sepia, scorched brown, fortress grey) so need to order some more. With their new paint range that out- I have no idea what the new names of these paints are. If anyone at all can tell me the new names for these paint or the equivalent ofthem- it will be VERY VERY much appreciated.

Great army mate! But I'm puzzled by 1 thing - you've put so much effort in their gear but still you use the unchanged SM backpacks... that just doesn't seem right. At least some beast-themed decoration would be a great addition imo.

This is the best blog i've seen since Roleplayer's amazingly well painted Blood Ravens. This. As a Beastman player makes me giddy all over. The Tau legs work perfectly the adaptation of the Space Wolf dex is also a awesome idea. And those cyber-minotaurs. Damn. Your an extremely talented sculptor and I love how all of their gear and armor is weathered to all hell.

Hmm, I see the Wolf Guard (those are normally Terminators right?) are already done. Hmm, you still need Terminator sized fellows I think!

I think a combination of those Tau stealthsuit legs, Chaos Terminator torsos, Ork arms and some other bits could make them look very intimidating. Maybe give them wires coming out of the back of their heads, kind of like the Butcher's Nails used by the World Eaters.

You would need larger shoulderpads, those could be Terminator shoulderpads, or since I've already suggested Ork bits, make them out of the Ork armour plating. I tried something similar in the past (never finished it), which can look quite intimidating: pic 1, pic 2 and pic 3

As for scouts, they are also too cool not to include. You could use scout torsos, Ungor heads and Tau firewarrior legs perhaps?

By the way, something on the side, perhaps it would be a nice touch to add (chain-)bayonets to the (existing) bolters, it will give them that extra savage touch!

Something wicked this way drops!
Finally some stuff came!!! So it’s update time on the metal herd… As I mentioned- I’m having a hard time coming up with something for a drop pod, and since a drop pod had arrived in the mail a couple of days ago- I decided to face it head on.

Essentially –gaming wise- it is a large model that comes on to the table and sits in that spot for the remainder of the game. In my army list that I use, I only have the one with a deathwind missile upgrade. So looking in the beastmen army book, the only thing that kind of matches this (one big thing that sits on the table and not move anywhere) is the SHARD OF THE HERDS TONE (50pts ENCHANTED ITEM ).

This is my herd stone I made ages ago for my beastmen-

So I want something these lines, but metal and techy. I figure the beastmen army uses these pod things to not only drop troops into the fight- but it also serves as a Marker type thing that tells other races that they where/are there –marking their territories.

First I chopped up the drop pod kit and put the thing together as much as I can ( I glue 3 out of the 5 fins bit so it will be easier to paint and mod the inner bits).

As I said I want this to be a 40k version of the herdstone so I sculpted some effigy of beastmen heads and maid copies of it.

Usually on the herdstone it will have spears or spiky bits so on the bottom bit I did that too then stuck it all on.

This will be for the doors- a symbol for beastus-mechanicus if you would

After undercoating the whole thing white, I painted the inner bits silver and carefully paint on army painter quick shade strong tone only on the silver bits. Personally I really like the effect that it has on metallic paints. (for some reason a lot of painters oppose the quick shade dip, but I think it’s just another tool/technique one can use to create an effect)….

For some reason a lot of painters oppose the quick shade dip, but I think it’s just another tool/technique one can use to create an effect. Just be careful of “pooling”...

Now to the equipment. This drop pod is supposed to be kind of a shrine, so having a bulky missile launcher in there as a center piece- I don’t think will look that good.
So I came up with this cute little dude….

Who’s a cute baby gor? Who’s a cutie? Who’s a Cutie? You are… you are!... Who want’s to kill every thing? you do… You do….

In my head-this little psycher guy can be used to first pilot the drop pod down, and then uses psychic shooting powers- like a zoanothrope would use a warp blast- to kill stuff…. Ok- it only goes 12 inches and does not have any AP- but he IS just a likkle baby go…. if he can survive a battle, brakes out of the tank and some how makes his way back to the herd- then he will become part of the beast army.... Sparta agoge type thing...

if he can survive a battle, brakes out of the tank and somehow makes his way back to the herd- then he will become part of the beast army.... Spartan agoge type thing...

So as a whole drop pod we get-

That’s it for now I think….

ps
Malika2 - I will eventually be doing an apocalypse size army… while waiting for parts to come, I kind of started a frame work for a warhound titan (I dubbed it the “Cy-ber-gor” project… we’ll see how it goes).
As for terminators- I will eventually get around to doing them-just for the completion of the army…. The thing is I have a couple army list already that I’ve been using and really like the feel of them- and none of them does not include any terminators (wolf guards are there just not in terminator armor… Personally I don’t really like using terminators at all. They are way too expensive, cumbersome, and does not really go with my style of playing…. Or maybe I just don’t know how to use them properly…. So yes I will do them but they are not really a priority….
As for scout- I’m doing them now as we speak so it hopefully be finished and up here within a weak if work and life in general allows me to…. Here’s hoping.

Very well done man! Will there be more drop pods in this army?

As for the Terminators, I think they would be an interesting modelling project, maybe not for gaming though. However, if you find them too slow, how about teleporter homers or a Land Raider (oh come on...you know you want to!). Or even crazier, Forgeworld will be releasing a Lander Raider Spartan soon...

still messing around with different space wolves army list. But, I have two main army list that I love using (both 1750pts). The one I prefer and use most of the time has only one drop pod in it, and the other one that I like as well, but don't use as often as I should- has NINE drop pods.... so more to come i guess....

Just a very small update-
So swamped with work lately but finally found time to sit down to get more beastmen space ready…ish

In my main army that I use I have two units of Wolf scouts (ungors), and at first- as some of yall may have seen on this blog I used the tau fire warrior body and leg, imperial guards arms, with the ungor head. To me- they looked way too scrawny to be an “elite” unit. So I ripped them apart, salvage any thing I can and came up with this-

Ungors-

This is the basic colors I’m going for- I tried to do camo- green tone, black and grey tone, and yellow tone. But it didn’t have the same feel and tone as the rest of the army so- I just kept it more or less the same but with more yellow.

-Scouts (ungors)-To be continued……-

From light ungor scouts- to heavy armored, big guns wielding gors- The Long horn unit.

I wanted a Iron man warmachine like look to them so I started off with sculpting a helment that the long horns (long fangs) can ware.

In the main army I use two units all with missile launchers(typical I know… I’m a slave to trends I guess), but just incase I want to put another one in, I decided to do 3 units (what’s another 5 right).
So because I’m going to have 15 of them I just made copies of the first one. Along with the horns…

Sooo much fire power for just 15 gors……

Then I re-read the codex then realized that they have to replace their bolt pistols for missile launcher so I cant really do the under-arm gun thing like the one that warmachine have. So instead I armed them with more missile launcher on their legs…. Why not?

-Long Fangs(Long horns) To be continued……-

Right- small, medium… now let’s go large!!!!!!
Doom bull in Terminator armor (Dreadnaught/ Venerable Dreadnaught/ Bjorn the fell-handed)

The body is an upside down forgeworld khorne blood slaughterer body I took out of my chaos space marine army… It was only partly painted with a wash- that’s why it’s partly red...Out of all the models I hacked up- it pains me most to hack up that one… the top bit of the legs are razor back lascannons and the bottom bit where inspired by this gundam dude -http://gundam.wikia.com/wiki/MS-09F/Gb_Dom_Gross_Beil
STOMPY LEGS!!!!!
I have ordered the contemptor pattern close combat arm , and contemptor pattern plasma cannon arm for the dude….sadly still in the mail.
All the green stuff stuff still needs A LOT of cleaning and neatening-up work but I’ll wait till the arms gets here.
This also- To be continued-
Ps

-That would be awesome on so many levels, and I would be honored if you do that sir.

Scouts are finally Done!!!!

I haven't made any progress worth writing about for the long fangs or the dreadnaught, new things came in the mail and I placed them on the back burner while I play around with my new toys….

Beastmen are known (amongst other things) for their use of chariots, so I figured I wanted to do some sort of huge chariot pulled by two mech/cyber razorgors like the one the beast lord is riding.
Razorgor chariot (Rhino)

The legs are from these dudes I got from daiso (pound store, or dollar shop)-

That’s how we roll!!!

Size-wise it’s just alittle bigger than a real rhino… It’s ok I think because It’s just like a chaos rhino with all the spikey bits on it I guess….

And finally I give you- Morghur the master of servo skulls… (Iron priest)

HE’S STILL ALIVE!!!!

Minotaur servo skulls – servitors

Ps
Kavish- the mould I use is mould-able eraser. Basically it’s that insta mould stuff-http://www.coolminiornot.com/shop/instant-mold.html - but cheaper….

I've been playing with 6th edition for a week or so now and with 6th you get acess to a fortification as well as 1 hq, 2 troops, 1 elites, 1 fast, and or 1heavy from allying armies. (if you use allies- you must have 1 HQ and 1 troop from that army before you use any of the other stuff. I used a platoon of 50 IGs and a unit of 10 rough riders in one of the games and it works pretty well.
So now I'm thinking of doing beastmen version of every thing. Primarily things I want to use along side this beastmen (spacewolves) army are-

Storm talon
Storm ravens
rough riders
Imperial Guardsmen
Leman russ punisher
fortress of redemption

(not all in the same game)

thing is I'm kinda tapped out on ideas for the time being- so I figure I'll throw this out into the dakka dakka collective idea community- hoping someone can help. so please let me know if any one have any ideas on what I can do to turn those models into a beastmen theme kind of thing.... Thank you all ahead of time-anything and everything will be more than appriciated.

I really am impressed with how well you've managed to create a 40k model around the Morghor archetype. He recognisably looks like morghur but fit's your theme brilliantly. Any plans for doing this with more characters?

I only found this by accident via a google search and thats the BEST 40k Army I have ever seen!

I always wanted to do a simliar thing with the Beastmen, but never had the time and money to actually do it. So thanks for realizing this awesomeness.

I wanted to keep it a little cheaper, so I thought about using the Space Marine Codex with lots of Scouts (so i could use the beastmen legs) and give them a Mercenary theme without chaos, so more like the Imperial Beastmen, but as a mercenary company/clan. But the Space Wolfs and chaos fit perfectly too.

And again chapeau for doing this, your the MAN! Keep it up!

Need for speed?

For one of my army list I needed 2 land speeders. I sort of want to keep them in the theme of “chariot like” vehicle because of the beastmen army base. So, thinking about one or two thing pulling something else- the first thing that comes to mind for me is star wars episode one pod racer. I also lie the Tsmeu-6 personal wheel bike that General grievous pimps around in, in episode 3, so I decided to combine the two designs.

I found this remote control car for 200 baht (4-ish pounds or 6-ish us dollars) in the street so I got it and ripped off the wheels.

Then started to kit bash….

Zoom Zoom!!!!!

It’s raining beast!!!! Drop pod revisited….
I made another 1750 points army list with 9 drop pods and a rune priest. It’s great fun to play with- because It’s one of those all or nothing army. Basically all I have is 6 units of 10 grey hunters with 2 melta and a power fist in a drop pod (5 with the missile thing), 3 units of 2 longfangs in drop pods with 1 heavy bolter (just so that 5 drop pods can come in on the first turn, and a rune priest with a jump pack and runic armor having one psychic power (depends on who I’m fighting I’ll choose at the beginning of the game)(not really important this guy he’s just here for the HQ)…. Not the greatest army out there I know but it’s soooo fun to play with due to the fact that on the first turn you have 50 space marine in front of you. It might get all get charged or blown away right then and there, but the look on your opponent’s face when it all comes down is priceless…..
Any hoo This is still a slow going work in progress but most of the pieces are molded, trimmed, and here(ish) so it’s getting there.

And another 31 dudes to go along with the ones I already have.

to be continued....

Thank you all for the awsome comments much appreciated. As well as the motivation to do this army for this blog helped it along so much - so thank you again... Right now Im in the process of doing 40k versions of Beastmen special characters like malagor, ghorros, moon claw, and all that.

I got the parts and have started building and sculpting some of them, but I'm really stuck on what to do for Gorthor... Ideally I just want a big Beastmen in terminator armor so I can use him as Logan grimnar. But the thing is Gorthor pimps around in a chariot. so may be not... Don't know

This is actually a very long winded way of asking if there is a model, unit, or vehical in 40k that is in or can ally with space wolves that I can use a lord on chariot type model to represent in a game. Any thing from Imperial armour is cool too.

The only thing i can think of right now using the rule for a wolf lord on a thunder wolf that is accompanied by two fenrisian wolves. so I do a Gorthor model on a chariot on a large basewith the yoke sticking out of it, and have the 2 cyber boars on other base in front of it so it looks like it's pilling it. But that might look abit weird model- wise and in game it may look very weird if the two wolves dies and is removed.

So if any one at all have any idea or suggestions,Please, please, please let me know.... It will be very much appreciated.

Well, as for suggestions, I instantly thought about the Master of the Ravenwing on his jetbike. That's the closest thing to a chariot I can currently imagine (except for a Trike maybe, but that wouldn't be available to a special character). Or you could go really overboard and have Gorthor ride into battle atop a converted Sentimel or even Defiler?

Little up date on Gorthor and his chariot.
Going from the great idea of using the ally rules of Sammael master of ravenwing that came from yall (thank you so much for that)- I started to look for shapes in the GW range and decided on using the Necron Triarch Stalker as a base for the chariot bit (Sammael mounted in a land speeder). (armored 14 in both front and sides, with a twin linked heavy bolter AND twin linked assault cannons, and also BS-5- thats total bad a$$).

The front bit will be a flying razorgor kind of thing- (half way between the thing that I got pulling my Rhinos and the thing that is pulling my other land speeders-) So it’s sort of gorthor on a razorgor chariot…

Then I had the Idea of not actually mounting him on the chariot it self but on a ship textured terminator base- so when he’s on the chariot he’s Sammael, and when he’s just pimpin around on foot- he’s Logan Grimmar.

for gorthor him self I’m using the space marine librarian in terminator armour as base-

The beast lord needs a cloak so I stole it off Celestine the Living Saint.

the beast lord cometh

There are still a lot more to go like twinlinked assault cannons and twin linked heavy bolters on the bottom, but It's getting there....

I'm actually saving canis wolf born for a 40k version of moon claw- him with the claws and being mounted on a big two headed thing and all that (and im running out of ideas for "use as" models that fits)....

Again-just a small up date on the progress of gorthor and some other bits and bobs that I just started army.
Finally finish the making bit of the warlord’s chariot

Continuing with special characters- I started doing Khazrak the one eye.
This is make take on him in my fantasy army-

So I want to make more or less the exact same thing- but 40k.

To go with lords- Space wolves has the option to take cyber wolves… I don’t want to just go with a chaos war hound-so instead, I give you

Cyber Boars!!!

Still some ways to go…..

Little Qicky FYI on DIY- I’ve been getting people asking how I did fur on these guys and instead of typing the message over and over again I figured I’ll put up a little tutorial thing here for what it’s worth. It’s very easy and I hope some one finds it useful.

These are the things that you need-

Oh and if you can Vaseline too. The thing with Vaseline is that it stops you tools from sticking to the green stuff, and because it’s oil base- you can add more green stuff to it and it’s stick on normally. Water and you own spit works great as well in keeping you tools from sticking to the green stuff, but it may be difficult to add more green stuff on and around the part that you are doing (most of the time it will just slip off).

Before I get to fur I’m actually going to show you how to make scales (like dragon scales, fish scales, armor scales, etc.) because it’s more or less the same process but you see it clearer first… (just go with me on this for a minute )

First mix the green stuff up and stick it on the surface of that thing that you want scales on. Use Vaseline to spread or smooth that area down.

Using the clippers from the bottom up start clipping into the green stuff row by row.

On this part it’s really up to you how big or small you want the scales. For small ones use only the tip of the clippers and keep them close together- for the big ones, go for the whole thing and spread them a bit part.

Then finally use a bit of water or Vaseline to smooth or flatten down the whole thing a little so that it can curve, or flatten with the surface, while still being scaly.

or

Note: the amount of pressure you put on the green stuff in this process will determine how fat or thin each scale is. The more you smooth the fatter eah scale is.

Any touch up like separation between scales- or any other thing you want to do to it is up to you.

In the end you end up with something like this

RIGHT ON TO FUR!!!!!!!
Like I said it is more or less the same thing-

First mix and stick the green stuff on to the surface that you want.Use water or Vaseline to help spread, smooth, or shape the green stuff on so it don’t get stuck to your fingers or tools.
Once that is done create some diagonal lines all thru out the area.

Now do I the other way too so you are sort of making a grid kind of thing with long thin diamond shapes.

If you do it on a non-flat surface it will turn out something like this-

Now using the clippers, start clipping into it. Do the exact same thing as you did with the scales, but this time it can be as random or as orderly as you want.

Note: on this part- while you are clipping you can pull out while applying pressure to the clippers to get random long length of fur.

(the front top bit has been clipped the back half is not.)
When you have done that- use your fingers or sculpting tool to add details on each fur sections or locks or whatever you want to call those bits, push them up, down in or out- to create what you had in mind.

Here are some other examples for yall-

Just have fun and experiment with it really is the key I think…

On foot I using him as Logan Grimmar Wolf lord- But Gorthor is not Gorthor with out his chariot, so-

I made Gorthor’s base with a little stub thing in front so it can just clip onto the chariot so Gorthor is secure. When he’s mounted on the chariot, I’m going to be using Sammael Master of raven wing rule (allying army (will be making centigors as bike so Gorthor can be legally use in a game later.)

Malagor the Dark Omens-

Essentially I’m going to be using this as a Rune priest with a jump pack.

So let’s start with the jump pack!

Another great thing that I use insta- mold for is making fluttering cloth or capes.

I’m these as flying cloth tassels kind of thing coming from his head cloth mask thing…

By the way if do the same thing, then after it to dries- cut lighting shapes into it.

then just cut them up into smaller pieces (depending on you) and you can use it for electrical effects-

Any way back to Malagor

the base is a piece of flame / power effect I got from a Naruto toy.

heh heh FIRE...

Do you mean the legs that I used for the Razor gors pulling the chariot and the ones that my lord is riding on right? is that's what they are????? I just got them randomly cuz I like the look of the leg part in a 60 baht shop (dollar store or poundland equivelant) and it's cheap- 4 in a pack in one solid colorful crappy plastic color.... I've never seen them in any of the old or new animations, so i didn't know.... sorry for the crime, but thank you for the comment

Heh. Not all the toys appear in any of the cartoons. Also they could have been knockoffs, judging by the fact you got 4 of the same mold but in different colours (they normally come in packs of 3 different toys) and that they were so cheap.

I am quite the nerd.

Also, in the unpainted pic of the Doombull, the Blood Slaughterer torso looked like it was made of metal. What's going on?

I LOVE the wheelbikes by the way. So awesome!

lol-I'm pretty sure they are knock offs sir.... I'm living in thailand .... with the doombull- originally I baught 3 slaughterer many moons before I started this project. I wanted it for my chaos army (we paly alot of appoc here) and so started painting it (base only- silver and red- havent gone into detailing, shading or any thing else yet).

Then new things came along and life in general got in the way of finishing it ,and so as with alot of other models i have get's left on the shelf or the bitz box quarter or half-finished. Then I started this project and it became that every model I have or don't have yet is fair game for ripping appart for parts- finished painted or not... may khorne forgive me .... the other two slaughter's safety don't look so good as well, because I might want to do two more ..... dont know yet.....

Finally the dreadnaught drop pod has arrived in the mail from forge world, and I wasted no time ripping it apart and rebuilding….oh the joy!!!!!

It’s A LOT bigger than I expected it to be so I figure I use two baby beastmen to control the drop pod in a glass chamber thing.

For the glass bit I found this egg thing with dinosaurs- erasers in it then simply sawed off the top.

As usual I sculpted one head and the rest of the trimmings, then using inta mold I made copies of them.

Auwww, though I agree these are excellent and they are the best version of CSM / Beastmen I have seen without a doubt, the painting is way better than mine and the fact that it's a whole army is superb but I still like my Tau beastmen so nerr (I don't think mine are better just different).

I’ve been messing around with a list that is based around using terminators. I’ve never ever really been much of a fan of them but- they’re slowly growing on me now. So I figured I’ll do some for the metal beast army.

I like the idea of having the blade on the back of the for arm ( new predators style-but with simple clean lines.)

After the blade I got working on the body and put things together-

The thing is this is just a mock-up. I’m not really sure of anything and nothing is final just yet- I do like the lines and look of this. The basic elements are there I think- but I just feel like there is something missing….I don’t know…. I know a lot of the green stuff still needs to be neaten up and all that but I just want a final idea or final look before I do any of that…. I’m kind of stuck- So please if anyone out there have any comments, critics, or suggestions on what I can or should do- please help. It will be very much appreciated. Even and the end of it I need to scrap the dude and start anew….

Post by: Rawson

I think he quite obviously is a terminator. Great work thus far!

My only thoughts would be 1) use plasticard for the blade (the current one looks a bit bendy) , 2) the added leg joints look a bit odd (but maybe they just need some gs cleanup) and 3) what would they look like with your longhorn helmets on? IIRC, they looked quite termie-esque

Keep up the great work!
Rawson

My thought would be to cut a concave cut at the top of the lower leg guard before the join as I think the lower leg presently looks too long.

Project: metal beast (40k Beastmen) @ 2012/10/14 19:57:32

Post by: tarar2d2

I agree with maxxev that the legs seem too long. Can I also suggest that you use a power fist for the sword arm as the current one looks too small for the sword. Either that or make the sword smaller.

I forgot this is the size comparison to a "normal" marine.

I think you guys are right about the hight issue thing with the legs I think....

Rawson- I'll try out the long lorns helment on this little guy and see how that works.

Maxxev- I try chomping the legs down a bit more like you said.

great input keep it coming please it is much appriciated! I'm way too close to these guys to see clearly.

Post by: Bruticus

I think it looks good, but a bit too much like a biggerised power armoured marine.

Can you sit the head a bit lower in the body? Or build up an area behind the head? Hard to do with horns I guess. The most visually defining thing about terminator armour is the head being in the middle - shows they aren't just taller, rather they are wearing armour like a tank.

I think the legs are quite long, as they are now it makes the arms look too short.

Centigors DONE!!!! (using them as bikes and the big razorgor with the gun is an attack bikes)

Razorgor with multi-melta (attack bike)

I also did some more of the basic gors (grey hunters)…. If less is more then surely more has to be better!!!

Oh just as a side note- the other week I decided it would be kind of cool to put up a bunch of 40k propaganda posters I found on the internet on the terrain at my shop just for the hell of it… I think it turned out really cool and gives the battle field a lot of character (even if I do say so myself)….

I took this opportunity to advertise as well….

Just in case any one wants to do this too and want a printable size for A4 paper- here’s the link-
http://i529.photobucket.com/albums/dd334/mayajid/0_zpsae29ca91.jpg

It’s just random 40k propaganda images I found on the internet and resized it so that it’s more or less the right scale. (Note: Except for the metal beast mercenary poster- I did not create any of these images or know where I actually got it from so I cant really give credit to the artists who made them…. sorry….)

More excellent work. the centigors are fantastic!

Regarding the Terminator, maybe try and reverse wher the heavier plate goes? On humans, we have big shin plates because thats what runs into stuff first. On digitigrade legs maybe the thigh and hoof armour should be bulked up rather than the shin armour? It will also help with the fact that Terminator thighs are stupidly slender, even compared to normal Marine thighs

What about repurposing Crisis Suit legs? and adding more of an organic lower leg? That would fit quite nicely with the stealth suit legs on the normal PA Beasties.

Right after ALOT trial and error, going foward and back with a lot of random ideas and form what you all suggested (thank you for that really appreciate it and it was alot of help! ) and this is what I’m going with-

I left them all without helmets because they are basically meant to be squad leaders.... I notice this with most if not all miniature wargames -not just warhammer- that the captain, squad leaders, and alot of the characters (including terminator captains) of the squad is the one that dont ware head protection..... this dont make too much sense but I'm going with that "tradition" thus no helmets.... (if any one can tell me why this is the way it is-it would be very much appriciated- cuz personal logic in me thinks that the sergent or the capatin is important and should be protected if not more protected ....)

Any ways... now to do this 15 more times…..

The idea behind the blade is that it could flick back and forth. It’s back when the dude needs to operate something, shooting or just walking around, and it flick forward when he’s fighting in combat.

Just for what it’s worth- this is how I do capes-

I first put some insta-mold (this stuff-http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ub70AU5RfmI) into hot water spread it out a bit, then using the end of a paint brush- make flowing marks going up and down (or however you want the cape lines to flow).

Now mix up some green stuff and using water flatten it in your hand till you get the right thickness or thinness you want for your cape (the water is just so it wont stick). Once that is done place it over the insta mold and whit a rubber clay tool or you fingers and water push the green stuff in so it takes the shape.

Once the green stuff cures properly it will stay in that shape. now trim the piece down to the size and shape you want. When I usually do this step I trim it so that the cape is a lot shorter than it needs to be for a later step.

glue them on to the back of the model

using green stuff I outline roughly where the cloth will flow on the model’s body.

Using the metal tool start to blend the new green stuff into the bottom bit of the cape and with the knife end do some cloth marks.

Then use the rubber tool to flatten or smooth the cloth out and also do final blending. So that there are no sharp edges…. Unless you want them to have sharp edges…. Experiment yourself and have fun with it…

This process can be done on any scale really… I did this for my Gorebull (Wolf guard pack leader on a thunder wolf.)

You can also add texture onto it like fur (I talked about how to make fur a few post ago) or runic type of thing like this guys-

Any way back to the termies.
Horns…

Legs-

this joint hinge on the leg can be used to add more details for other things too like side of tanks, side of guns, armor details etc. simply just this-

Once that dries just pop them out and stick them on anything you want.

In the army I’m thinking of I use 16 terminators- 15 with frost weapons, and one with a cyclone missile.

Now all I need to do is some cleanup work and get painting finally…

Wow. I love the Terminators! For the greenstuff sculpting, do you use an armature as a base? My free standing sculpts always seem to be quite bendy and flimsy after they've set, so I'm curious how yours are done.

Thats a lot of green
I apsulutely love them, they're awesome.
For the helmless sergeants and guys, I think they sometimes keep their helmet of to show their troops personality and get more of a bond with them. not sure thought. I mostly give my sergeants helmets although I gave some of my beakies swappable heads for fun so I could swap between helmed head and bare head.

unless I'm doing a full sculpt from scratch or a weapon with long handles- I don't really use any armature... Personally I think the natural bendy-ness of the green stuff is the thing that makes it strong and not as breakable as say white, or grey stuff. we as modlers and player just gets paranoid about the bendyness of the it- thinking it might break off or paint will flake off because of it- but it wont really.... well not any more than the usual ware and tear of usage of the model.

But if you still want it to be "stiffer" I usually just soak part of it with a layer of super glue once the green stuff cures... I did that with the bottom part of the terminator wolf guard frost blades. when the glue dries it, along with the greenstuff becomes harder... just becareful of dripping and pooling of the super glue. if it does just use something to scrape it off the drop (not tissue paper !!!!). you can do it with the cape too but I didn't bother. hopes that helps a bit

There are around two hundred odd people either playing or just modeling here in Thailand... Mainly they are around Bangkok but you get some of them all over really. There are stores in chiangmai, phuket, pattaya and all that but there are around 5 or 6 dotted around in Bangkok. So yeah we kind of have a small to medium sized community I guess- but compare to like England or other western country it’s very small I guess….

I own a warhammer shop, and I can tell you that the numbers are growing more and more lately, especially with the new edition of 40k.

Ok- I can only apologies to everybody reading this blog for what I’m about to do…. It’s shameless advertising- I know- but built it all from scratch so it’s my baby…..

Here’s my shop!!!!!

Shop’s diorama (every shop NEEDS one!!!)

Table that doubles for lockers to rent so people don’t have to hull their army back and forth.

12 foot one

If anyone is planning to come to Bangkok Thailand, yall are more than welcome to come kill or blow up something at the shop (games-wise preferably). I got Loads of models at here yall can use to play just in case you don’t want to bring you army.

And here is where the metal beast mercenaries resides-

The Gore Bulls are freaking brutal looking. I love the picture where the one is up in the Soul Grinder's face like "COME AT ME BRO!"

I will say, however, I think the capes look unfinished. I think some more highlights or shading would make them look a lot better. Perhaps a complete overhaul color-wise to make them a deep, dark red or a dark, ruddy brown. Right now they look like unfinished capes you sculpted out of grey putty.

Thank you all for the kind words- I really appreciate them and it's really helping the army along.

Young_logan- I'm not really thinking of doing any forge world stuff just yet. There really isn't any thing that I'm interested in using yet. Tho I am liking the idea of having a war hound Titan, or may be a beastmen primarch.... But nothing solid just yet.....YET....

Dearth bob- you are right about the cloaks I think. i felt that some thing was missing or something else needed to be done to it when I thought I finished, but I didn't want to over do it because I might just spoil it... I was just not sure what. I want to keep it a grey color because i think it works well graphically so I think I'll just try highlighting it some more and hope for the best I guess. Thank you for that

I do think they look nice in gray. They just need a bit more depth rather than the somewhat "lacquered" look that they have now. I look forward to seeing the updated ones as I have no doubt that, with your painting skills, you can make them look much better.

Just a little bit update with the gorebull- I changed the color of the capes to black because the other one didn’t really looked as finished as it could be…. If that means anything….

On a side project but still relevant to beastmen 40k-

GOTHIC METAL !!!!!!

A group of us here decided to do a Battle Fleet Gothic campaign. I already have an imperial fleet, but I figure this gives me an awesome opportunity to TRY to come up with a suitable ride for the metal beast mercenaries.

Transport for them to get to where ever they need to be, do whatever it is they’ve been hired to do, come back, and get paid.

I figured that their fleet should be-

- Small and fast (to get to where they need to be as quickly as possible and get away quickly after).

- able to not get into space battle or any battle at that, if they are not getting paid for it (or if they don’t have any other choice.) basically the ability to just slip by unnoticed.

-may be just enough fire power to cripple ships so they can take it over or just buy time to do what they need to do.

Looking at all the fleets and their rules, I really like the rules for the dark eldar fleet (I played with them before and it worked for me well).

Space wolves wise- I know it doesn’t fit at all- but metal beast wise- I think it works great- with their access to the mimic engines (just so they can drift by undetected), and they are fast at getting around.

The impailer assault module is just in case they get hired to clear out a hulk of tyranids, blow up part of a ship (hired for sabotage, or to kidnapping some people (Slavetaking rules), etc…..). an also just enough firepower to do a good amount of damge…. Having the shield couldn’t really hure either

Had to rush them and get them done within less week before we start of the campaign this Saturday (18th November) here they are.

The big ship is an eldar jetbike upside down, with spikey bits from the tzeench lord on disc of tzeench.

Metal beast escorts (dark eldar corsair class escorts)

These are the battle fleet gothic eldar shadow hunters also turned upside down and spikes added to them.

Metal beast Cruisers (dark eldar torture class cruisers)

It's not much but I think it adds alittle more depth to the fluff of the army I think

Yes! The capes look fantastic now, mate. Great call on a do-over as it makes them look far more brooding and, well, gothic!

As for the BFG fleet, that's a great idea and fluff addition for your Metal Beast army and I'll echo Yggdrasil in saying that there aren't nearly enough BFG fleets on this forum. Really creative way to make the ships, also. Who'd have thought that simply turning an Eldar ship upside-down could yield ships that look so much different. Great job!

Well there it is… 8 months…. hundreds of hours on the net looking for bits, lots of paint and tons and tons of green stuff later – I managed to acquire 5640 points worth of 40k beastmen army (well space wolve army really… but still)…. Laying them all down on a table it looks something like this:

I’m sorry to report that is probably the last update from me on for this project... I’m very happy that the metal beast army is as complete as I want them to be (and 8 month of seeing the same colors(yellow, black, silver) can sends you loopy sometime), but also very sadden at the same time because it’s more or less over…. Probably…. Well for a good long while any ways….

I just can’t stop adding things to this army!!! I’m an addict…. I thought I didn’t want to do any more to it, I thought it was all done and dusted- but here I am…. I’m sorry!!!!

Basically I was doing some last minute Christmas shopping (Christmas has never really been a big thing for me or most of other Thai people- but my English girlfriend of 9 years is WAY into it and so I HAVE TO go along with it… I mean what is the point of getting your friends a Christmas card when you can just let them know your feelings by verbally telling them when you are giving them the gift???? You can even hug them if you want…. I’m venting… I sorry…)

Any ways- there was a huge 50%-70% sale in the toy department at this mall I was in, then my “potential parts hunting” instincts kicked in and ideas started flying... I ended up buying these things-

I actually got two of that hermit crab thing…. All for 1400 baht!!! (28 pounds or 45 ish US dollars)
Using parts from these along with the bits and bobs in my Bits box (or what my friends nick named “the bits shed” –

(Yes every closet, boxes, drawers, and little drawers is filled to the top with bits…)

I intend to make a Warhound titan…

I dub this project the Cyber-gorgon project.

I started by throwing the assembly sheet away- I have no idea where it’s going or how it is going to look at the end of it, but I’m sort of putting some random parts together to create shapes that will sort of work and kinda take it from there….

I “borrowed” this tea tray from my mom’s house and figured it will make a perfect base.

Then I “accidentally” glued some sand on the base and my mom said I can keep it so it’s all good I think….

I had a lot of trouble with the look of the head… I started with the idea of it looking like the cyber demons from the game Doom-

-This but with huge tusks

So I started sculpting and doing the blocking work for the details of the head and face.

Even though the end result (even if it doesn’t look like it now) will look like a cyber demon’s head- I felt it looked way too “Chaosy/ daemony” instead of something that belong to the Metal beasts mercenaries. So I ripped it off and started over…

I went with the razorgor look I used for the rhinos and mounts in the main army instead…

Well that’s all I got for now... still have no idea what to do for the arms… It's not that much to look at now but It's still early days......

once again- thank you all for the comments and support of this PM blog it is much appriciated and HAPPY HOLIDAYS!!!!

Thats some good toys you got there, the toy department is always to find the best bitz for an army (especially orks )
Its also good that you started on that warhound titan (warbull or something), it will keep you busy for a while.
Thinking of it, why dont you ad some more huge vehicles, you ain't got no landraider yet do you?
And maybe some predator conversions or what about a Warlord titan?

Good Good, the adding-virus is working

That does look large enough to be a WHound, but I assume if it's a bit bigger/smaller, no one will give a fudge for the sake of playing such a cool model!

Just a small update on the titan…
I wanted to make a diorama-ish base for big guy instead of just rocks or wrecks…
I use air drying clay for the rocks on the base (terracotta red bits)

One of the cygor’s foot is going on top of the hellbrute…lol….

I also made some more beastmen for the base of it as well… I like to think that there’s a unit specially trained to follow and protect the titan’s feet- fighting while effortlessly avoiding being stepped on…

Not finish yet but it’s a start….

I received the warhound weapons from forge world the other day. I ordered one MARS PATTERN VULCAN MEGA BOLTER (LEFT ARM), and the MARS PATTERN TURBO LASER… they sent me the turbo lase and the CHAOS WARHOUND VULCAN MEGA BOLTER (LEFT ARM) instead of the normal imperial one…. I just thought- not the best thing to happen-but the shapes are there- no worries I’ll make that work somehow…. But the thing that gets to me is- the resin is in two completely different colors….. I usually just get the dark grey one but I’ve never seen it as a light color…. Is this normal????

I ran out of green stuff and anxiously waiting for it to come in the mail, so I had to settle for putty epoxy (same thing I guess, but still.)

I want the titan to have elements of the normal troops so the titan is going to have the same style shoulder pads as them.

I “borrowed” a Christmas decoration from my girlfriend and started hacking away.

To be continued…..

Ps-

I’ve been getting some private messages asking me about what tools I use for the green stuff work. So instead of saying the same thing again and again I’ll just put it up here just in case and in hope that it will be useful to other people as well
Right these are the tools I use most and I’ll go over some of them for ya-

1. this is The tube tool (it comes in a set of three from

http://www.masq-mini.com/aid-240-TubeTool-...ransparent.html

... It’s a bit pricey but it’s well worth it.

2. this is basically hand mold eraser. You should be able to get these in craft shops or shops that sells school stuff. The Japanese stuff looks like this in a pack

Or you can get the expensive stuff from
http://www.coolminiornot.com/shop/tools-an...stant-mold.html

But they are more or less the same thing.

3. Pen –I’ll come back to this- it’s awesome!
4. clippers
5. usual sculpting tools
6. rubber sculpting tools (top and bottom bit of this tool is use so take good care of it.)
7. knife and scalpel for trimming or carving into things when hard, or to create sharp corners when the green stuff is hard
8. drill
9. needle
10. that thingy (I’m making “thingy” an official term for this now) you usually get with a tube of super glue. It’s used to get around corners or when you need to put glue into little space I think… more on this one later….
And last but certainly not least……

THE ALL MIGHTY GREEN STUFF!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Oh and you need either spit, water or vasaline so the tools dont stick

*1. Right the tubing tools does this-

And so much more!!!!!- http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6We-0KI9FlQ&feature=plcp

*2. With the insta mold thing or the hand mold eraser- all you have to do is put it in boiling water and put it on thing that you want to make a copy of like texture or the part it self-

It’s reusable too

Here’s a little how to vid from them-

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ub70AU5RfmI

*3. Pen…. I use it to make this sort of shape…

Leave it to dry there or cut the bits around the shape apart first and leave it to dry. After it dries I glue it on to whatever it needs to go on…

I use this for bolts, mechanical eye shapes, goggles, machine textures, or whatever….

* 4 &5 you can figure out.

6. Rubber sculpting tools is used to smoothes out curved bits, or make neat, clean cuts into the green stuff or soft shaping.

I also use the end bit of the tool to make blood vanes on skins, or shapes for bio organism stuff. Then smooth it off with the rubber end.

7,8, & 9. Just for trimming, scraping and poking

10. this is great for warts, puss filled zits, and other stuff of a round-ish shapes.

When Im sculpting a head I also use this tool to make eyes…. Make the ball shape first then push the green stuff around it to make the eye shape.

This is about it I think. To be honest most of the time I just use random things that are around me to create the things I want. There isn’t really a “set” of tools that I use whatever it is… Just experiment with random stuff and look at what texture it makes on the green stuff surface. Oh and have fun just with it I guess.

While waiting for paints and green stuff to arrive for the titan (I’m almost out of green stuff and paint for this army is virtually all gone… ), I started to think and exploring more into the fluff of the metal beast mercenary army in the 40k universe. From the start I wanted to do a 40k equivalent of all the units, especially the special characters from the fantasy beastmen army…. In fantasy the special character- Ungrol four horn and his unit- are a part of the beastmen army, who occasionally will interact with the main herd, but will sort of go off do their own thing the rest of the time (fluff-wise and game wise)... So I figure in the 40k universe, the perfect equivalent for them is a Necromunda gang with Ungrol being the gang leader.

Within the Metal beast mercenaries structure, I imagine Ungrol and his unit to be sort of the PR (public relations) of the main army, based on Necromunda. A point of contact in which the noble houses of the spires, or the lords of the Spires can reach and hire the main Metal beast mercenaries force to do a contract or whatever else that needs to be done.

Based in hive city in hive primus- they are allowed (by the lords) to go in and out of all section of the hive freely, so that they can receive or give any messages for the main army, put up advertisement posters, hand out flyers, tagging walls, receive payments, etc.

When they don’t have to do any Metal beast mercenaries related business (which takes up a lot of their time), they tend to go and do random things for themselves such as- occasional jobs from the houses of the hive city, racketeering, being hired guns, or anything else that might make them some credits…

Then I stop thinking and started sculpting with what’s left of the green…

OHHHHH SERVED!!!!!

Here’s the gang (PR Department)-

Ungrol- Head(s) of PR

Heavy with heavy stubber - creative director

Gangers - general staff

Just incase yall want to know how to do the fluttering clothe thing-

First mix some green stuff, stretch and flatten it out till you get the thickness and the width you want. Find something circular, and drape it around randomly like so-

Wait for it to dry, then cut it up to the length you want. Then simply glue it onto where you want it to go. If it’s a part of something else just use a bit of green stuff to blend the two parts in.

Juvies -interns

I figured there will be many other groups like this with its own regional manager in most if not all the systems reporting to Ungrol, then to the main force. They are abhuman beastmen ungors so they can blend in with the imperiums, the chaos/heretics, and most of other alien race.

That’s it for now until the paint comes in.

lol- Even if there are human pr as just the contact- they are still essentially be hiring beastmen... I dont think those part of the imperium will trust or hire any "dirty" abhuman to do any thing for them even if they are desperate. Also Our Metal beast Marketing department says that they are not our target audience, so we shouldn't waist our time and resources on them in the first place....

for all of them I used the tau stealth suite legs- top bit (knees up- shaved down then clothe trouser legs and pockets are sculpted onto them with green stuff. the upper body and the head comes from regular ungors. I sculpted the cloaks onto them with green stuff (in the same way I did the capes on the terminators, but with two section instead of one big one). the shot guns are from anvil industry miniatures (they are such awesome sculpts, and they are worth every penny!!!!!), and the base are from hitech miniatures (also awesome sculpt).

Lovely models, mate, as usual!

What I love most though is the fact that, even though they are PR operatives, those guys will still take the time to blow gak up and cause a ruckus in the underhive every now and then. Beastmen will be Beastmen, after all

Keep up the spectacular work!

The guy with the cigar is definitely my favourite and perfect for a gang leader. I suppose I don't really like the second head - the one without the cigar - but I guess this is there because he is based on a fantasy special character. I do think though that the silhouette in that first picture you posted of him looks great (when you can't really see the second head). Great idea.

Oh, but where is your second heavy? Surely you want another one with a flamer or something?

Holy S%*+ you can have two!!!!!!! I've been playing necromunda on and off for the past 15 years and for some reason I always thought that you can only have one heavy in a gang.... Kind of like one heavy in a unit in 40k. It might be a mental block or some thing.... I'm such a idiot!!!!

Thank you... right second heavy it is....
