Disclaimer: This thread has been going on for a long time and I like to think that my conversion skills have improved in the last few years. If you don't like what you see here, I encourage you to look at the newer pages.
so, they finally did it. in 4 weeks or so, after 7 years of playing I get my hands on a new Ork 'Dex. to quote the Starcraft Trailer: "Hell, it's about time".
so, I decided to give my greenskins a little more work here and there (again), especially since I'll have to regroup my my Mobs with the new book anyway.
I'm also planning to build new trucks. altough I have about 5 old ones, they are waaaaay to puny in this army, even more in comparion with the glorious new ones. so the start the blog, my first new Ork Truck, bases on a plastic humve kit. enjoy
next step is of course, painting this one, and after that, I'll try to figure out a way how to put a warboss on a bike.....
It's comin along well. But as it sits right now, it still feels way too much like a humvee with some extra bits glued on. It might be hard to break that without some major overhauling with plasticard though. And as always, Paint is a major factor in tying a project together too.
The Oger plate wheel caps are a very good idea. The grot at the rockit launcher looks a bit to small I would go with an ork instead. All in all the paint job will do wonders.
okay, here goes: you already saw the truck i build in the modeling forum
okay...photobucket is curently down, so I'll try uploading the,m from my pc directly....
I've got a lot of work to do with the whole spearhead stuff. what you also see below is
a) a slightly converted boy to make him look more commando
b) the shokk atack gun WIP c) my Tankbusta boss with with powersaw
what I need now a re suggestions for the humvee. I took of the grabber since trucks canÄt have those anymore, but now it looks less orky
just finished the humvee. I decided just to poack more armor plates on it, since Orks don't care for the concept of doors on an open-topped vehicle anyway.
Not too bad at all! I might toss a few more plates/random crap around the front, or cut some chunks off, to get rid of the well known "face" of the hummer, but it looks pretty darn orky as is. I don't think many people who are not pretty familier with the vehicles will think of it right away.
so, I finally got around to build that warboss. I used Ogryn Legs, which were much easier to convert and put on a bike seat. After that I justcutted a CSM Bike in half and put the Truck Engine in between. now I need to cover the back tire ( I was trying to use bigger one, but I just couln't fin enough room for it) and find a place for the assault cannons. then he'll get the head and powerglove from my old footsloggin warboss
okay, folks, here it is. I haven't quite finished the paintjob yet, but I'm tired and thougth I needed to post those before I finish for tonight.
I'm really glad how it turned out in the end. this is sort of what it always looked like in my head. when I started thinking about it, there was one thing I couln't get out of my head and which kept inspiring me while doodeling.
this video and especially the music
so, what can I say about building this one...I slaughtered a lot of new ork stuff, like part from the new truck, the lootaz and bikez, not to mention the DA bitz I got from a buddy.
(btw. a 100 nerd points if you can tell me where that fist is from )
at first I wasn't to sure about painting him with THAT MUCH red, but I think it looks quite fine now.
well then.
edit: he had that fist long before I read Ein's short story.
Ladies and Gentlemen (come to think of it, the first 5 silibles seem unecessery), I present to you, the one, the only, the new and improved
the supreme Lord of Dakka, the steel fist, the red lightning, Warlord Korrag Bugsmasha
I got the same affliction Pete, the face is like the event horizon of a model for me, the rest can look like crap, but damn that face is going to be emotive! (sucks when painting guard though... I dont even wanna think about how many I painted the damn TEETH on ... hurrr)
Holy crap, I thought I recognized that fist, I have that figure!
Very nice work man, I dig the huge long bike and shooty bitz
well, originally he was supposed to be the only one. that's were his name came from. right now, I have a few other ideas for themed squads, so that may have to wait.
Cool miniature. First time I've seen one painted by someone other than GW. It has a little too much yellow for my taste but it still looks very well done. Now all you need are 2 more and some grotz and you'll have the apoc-formation.
Hey guys, it's been a while since I wrote something in here.
So for christmas my brother got me a box full of different sprues and metal miniatures because I told him I want to build more bikes.
What I didn't expect was that he would actually buy that DA character on Jetbike. Boy, was I a happy Loota
The basic conceot for this character: Big Mek Screwlooze is a Death Skull at heart. He even takes it one step beyond. He doesn't wait for the battle to end before he starts taking the stuff he likes. That's why I he stole a rare Jetbike from a Space Marine commander, after Warboss Korrag Bugslayer wiped the floor with him. After several additions to make it "fasta" and "more flyie", Screwlooze added a few servo armes and power klaws he had lying around, so that he could swoop the battlefield to take whatever he liked most at the moment. I'm not quite done yet. I need to add more guns and maybe the Sentinel saw and after that I still need to figure out how I can actually glue him on the base.
They look really freaking cool. The only thing I'd change is making the skin of the Carnifex heads a bit faded. You know, since it's dead, its skin begins to fade as there is no blood to give the colour its depth.
The only thing that bugs me is that the ammo clip-bandoleer thingy isnt going anywhere
otherwise good
There used to be a Pulse cannon attached to it. I'm still not sure how/where I can add some bigger guns.
ROFL! 10/10 On the carnifex helmets.
original, and perfectly executed.
Thank you

You're probably right about that, but I already have waaayy too much stuff on my table. This will have to wait.
So, big Update guys!
I have a bunch of stuff I'm working on right now and I haven't even photographed all of it.
First up, it my new Battlewagon. Nothing special, just a few bitz here and there. I also build and painted the grabba claw, but it wont hold on it's own. But I already have a plan for that.
Below you see the first piece of terrain I build for my army. Actually, I build it over a year ago, but I recently added some finishing touches. The great thing about a Mek Shop are the special rules it get's in Apocalypse and CoD games
Then there is a 10 Ork Stormboy unit with some minor conversions and 3 more Tankbustas I built out of spare parts.
I also build 3 more Cyborks to replace a few in my old Cybork unit, so that they would a) have some larger models in it and b) a Warbanna.
Then there's "the beast" again. I redid the paint job in some places. When I play Apoc games he will count as a Warboss attached to the Cybork unit.
Last on the list are 2 Dokz. One will lead my non-cyberised Nob mob and the other is for the Biker mob.
Right now I'm still working on a Flash Gitz mob, which will probably get finished tonight. I also added some guns to the Bik Mek on Jetbike, but I still need to base him right, before I start painting.
fantastic i love the garage and battle wagon the most, my ony critcism is the beast, might want to paint his skin all green, but eh it could just be me considering i simply hate ogres, however superb job overall love it.
The painboy choppa is from the Stormboy sprue.
The whole idea with the Beast was, that an overly ambitious Pain Boy decided to build himself a personal bodyguard, but since he can't just cut the Warboss apart, he took the next best thing: an imperial Ogryn
OMG! THAT LOOKS LIKE the VEHICLE FACTORY FROM DOW!!!!
That's because the DoW building was what inspired me to do this.
please add some sort of grot with guns on the roof too, and if possible make it some sort of
Ork battle fortress . Its right there! almost like one but no tracks to move with .
Small update: I fnished these 4 guys here yesterday. Nobs for my Slugga and Shoota mob, a "regular" painboy for a "regular" Nob unit and the DeathSkull Cybork with Warbanna.
Looks good!! Maybe some highlights on the brass colored armour, use chainmail or mithril maybe some gold? I love all the stuff and can't wait to see more!!
Since I've discoverd the new washes, I kinda cut down on highlighting and stuff. But imo, it works well for Orks and I can paint much faster without a too big loss in quality.
Love this stuff! I really enjoy how every single model is an individual including skin tone! It's something I'm striving for in my Ork Horde. I noticed your use of WWII German and American soldier helmets on some of da boyz. What scale are they? I didn't see it anywhere on the thread. I'd love to use something like this on some of my boyz. Thanks.

To be honest, I have no idea . I got them fron a friend's bitzbox and I mostly use them with my Tankbustas to tie the unit a bit more together.

So...it's been quite a while, but I'm finally back to painting. There's still tons of unpainted models on my shelf so I thought I get back to my Orks. I still have an unpainted Stormboy squad, a nob squad, a stompa and Valkyre to work with. Here's the first Ork I've painted in months.
I would personally have used a different colour for the lenses, since green is so prevalent on the model. Also perhaps some camo black face/body painting?
@MGS: I might change them to red and blue. I'm not sure at the moment.
Another small update:
- I've paintend a few more Nobs, os now I can field a full squad. Bases will get done some time, but I still have so much unpainted infantry lying around, it'll have to wait.
- I also finished 3 more tankbustas, now all I need is one more and I can field the full squad.
- 4 different Runtherdz
- I painted my first Stormboy. When I started this army I painted every single Ork with a red vest, but I prefer to use more browns and grey now and keep the red paint on the vehicles and special equipment.
- I don't think I've shown you my Badrukk yet
- And a new shot of my Warboss. I recently did some minor enhancements on the paintjob
Next up are either the other 9 Stormboyz or that Vakyrie I want to loot.
I'm working on a looted Valkyrie right now, but I'm not really sure how to proceed. All I got so far is part of the main body and the cockpit. I'm going to leave the cockpit open, mostly because the clear plastic won't fit over the Ork pilot and the gaps will be filled of course. I have only a few ideas so far and thought I ask around here.
- I wanna equip it so that I can use it as normal fighta booma, in case I run into people who don't to play against an Ork transport flyer. So I will add gunners in the doors and then I need two more big shootas somewhere, maybe even as some kind of turret, I'm not sure yet. Though I'm going to plunder a few bitz boxes for that, 'cause I'm actually out of stuff I can use for big shootas.
- The rear hatch will be glued in place opened, with a parachuting Ork about to jump out and maybe a Grot pushing a bomb out, I'm not sure about that yet.
- the wings will be all torn and wired back together. Maybe I'll even cut one off and put it back on to get the right feeling on the model.
LunaHound wrote:Just want to say your painting skills have improved drastically during the past 8 months.
1. Thank you. 2. Quite funny actually, since apart from the few guys above, I haven't painted anything in over over 2 months. Seriously, I just used a lot of the washes, which works wonders for Orks.

salamander man wrote:Make a sloppy Valkyrie and then just put bits and scraps all over it. Then swap all the guns with ork ones.
Not helping. I'm doing that anyway but that's not enough.
So, I've been working some more on the Valyrie and some other stuff.
I still can't figure out where I could attach two more big shootas, so I might just leave them off. I also switched out the guns in front and I've been working on the wings. I now decided againt glueing the hatch in place, but I did build a paraork. Thing is, he's so large, there's no room left in the back compartment for anything else once I glued in the gunners.
My Squiggoth also got a little work. I added a gunner and a "steering wheel" for the big hungry dinosaur. I wanted to use this Gnoblar for ages, but I never found a got spot till now.
The last thing for today is an old Ork watchtower I started working on again. I build it a few years back, but I dediced to upgrade it a little. I added ladders and a platform in between, though it might need even more armor plates to justify a 4+ cover save.
Really good work. The struggle with the Valk will be to get it to look Orky enough and not just a Valkyrie that's been stolen and spray-painted, while still making it look flyable and airworthy. Judging by the quality of your work, however, this shouldn't be a problem.
OK. I like what you've done with the right wing, that's really nice. If I were you I would alter the tail assembly (maybe single-boom instead of twin-boom: think conventional tail and tailplane attached to single fuselage, rather than the P-38-esque Valkyrie arrangement) and add skids to the landing gear, similar to the AoBR koptas.
Vitruvian XVII wrote:Whack some big shootas above the wings as well. Also, try adding some other engines welded/bolted on for extra speed!
Big shootas would be the kind of bitz I'm out of.

I don't think I can alter the tail at this point and I wouldn't know where to start anyway. The landing gear skids sound interesting, maybe I still have some big Lego ski lying around somewhere.
Anung Un Rama wrote:maybe I still have some big Lego ski lying around somewhere.
That's exactly the sort of thing I was thinking of. As for the tail, if you are veering away from dramatic structural changes fair enough. Consider, however, 'extra reinforcement' in a suitably Orky fashion.
The squiggoth is pretty much done. I'm getting tired of painting all those different kinds of metal plates (which isn't a very good motivator to start working on a Stompa btw.) and that thing's been sitting on my desk for too long anyway. It's just one of many things in my army, which I can't really use outside of Apocalypse, but I enjoy building this stuff anyway. so you can expect more in the future.
I do have problems with the Valkyrie though. While one gunner looks pretty much exactly how I wanted him to look, I have problems fitting in the other one (see pics on the previous page).
The Para-Ork, who will stand in the open rear-hatch of the Valkyrie is probably one of the most bad-ass models in my entire army.
Next thing I'm going to build will be a Flak-buggy.
Are you still looking to add more Big Shootas to this?
You could always add them to the TOPS of the wings.
Two things come to mind.
1) Use the armored big shoota turret from the Battlewagon kit.
You'd probably have to scratch build something for it to recess down into, but that would give you 2 big shootas with 360 degree arcs.
2) Use the big shoota setup from trukks.
With a little plastic rod, you could make a frame for the platform to rest on. Then, just sit the gunner cupola down into the platform, like you would on the trukk. Now, THOSE would be a couple of hard *ss Boyz, there!
Intersting, but I don't like the idea of gunners on top of the wings. That would destroy the dynamic feeling of the flyer too much. I would've added something on top of the main compartment, but there's just no room for it, because of the engines.
Since I encountered that road-bump with the flyer I haven't done anything on it. My new job as an (unpaid) game critic also takes a lot of my time but I'm finally/almost done with the Stormboyz. I have to say, painting them was a real chore. They're so overloaded with tiny little details, if it wouldn't have been for the new washes these models would've driven me mad. MAD!
There's still some minor detail work to be done and I have to repaint some party because I used another kind of black wash on the second batch which is why some look darker. I'm holding out with finishing the bases because I usually want to do a whole batch as soon as I get around to it.
After that I'm either finishing the Valkery or building the Flak-Buggy I was planning.
The stormboys look great! And props on using the old Nazdreg claw, definitely one of the best ork bits ever. I've had one for years but could never commit to actually using it!
Great work loving the parachutist. I wouldn't worry so much about the extra guns just claim those big ass autocannons are twin linked I doubt anybody will care!
I wasn't sure about your painting skills, but as soon as I saw some photos taken in good lighting I could breathe a sigh of relief. When I get a good look at your work I can tell that you're quite talented.
Teek wrote:The stormboys look great! And props on using the old Nazdreg claw, definitely one of the best ork bits ever. I've had one for years but could never commit to actually using it!
I once bought the whole model, but it was also painted horribly. But Iwanted my Stormboy Nob to stand out and it worked out okay.
Owain wrote:I wasn't sure about your painting skills, but as soon as I saw some photos taken in good lighting I could breathe a sigh of relief. When I get a good look at your work I can tell that you're quite talented.
Believe me, these looked pretty bad before washed every model with Badab Black. It works wonders. My painting skills seem to shift a lot between 'not very good' and this.
The rules for the Flakk Truck from Apocalypse are nice, but I already have so many Ork vehicles, I don't want to waste space. So I used Yaface's original Number one rule of wargaming and used modeling for my advantage. I give you: the Flakk Trakk!
I didn't want to look like a total donkey though, so I decided not to use the Grot flare option.
Hey guys, I could use some feedback. I was working on the Valkyrie today and had an idea. I wasn't really happy with the fact tzhat it still looked a lot like a regular Valkyrie just painted red, so I shortened the back a bit. Then I head another idea. What do you guys thing of the new wing configuration? I would have to rip off the missles again, but apart from that, I don't see a reason why I should do it. It will be a bit harder to transport though, because I will have to glue them on. Any thoughts?
I also bought another kit from Revel which won't even need much conversion work to fit into the army. ^^
So, the Valkyrie is pretty much done at this point. Also, I'm sick of painting it.
All that's left is the base, which I'll do at some later pint once I had an idea what to put on it. Some piece of wreckage or something. I'm not sure what's next though. The Flakk Trakk still needs some work and I have to repaint some of my infantry but I'd like to start with the large truck in the post above at some point as well. The Stompa will have to wait until Forge World releases those extra parts, though I might start on the main body anyway, since I want to build in a MP3-Player.
That gunship looks fantastic. It'd look wicked if the turbines were spewing filthy black fumes, as I don't imagine orcs have the greatest engineer saavy.
I love the orc model line, they have by far the most character and the most vicious line of weaponary in 40k land - so tempting. hmmm.
@Luna: I forgot to mention the last part of the paintjob: Devlan Mud. I paint pretty much all my Ork models with 1-2 layers of this brown painting gold.
@The Good Green: sreaming Squeegle sounds interesting. Air Force Waaagh is omething for a BIGGER plane.
@Archibald Jack: good idea. I need some black whool anyway, I just don't know where I could get it from.
a) Try only making one engine belch black smoke and see how it looks.
b) The easiest way to make "smoke" is to build a basic shape with a material of your choice. I usually use balled newspaper covered with that tape that has a paper like back.
Liberally cover in white/wood glue and cover with woodland scenics clump foliage.
Let dry and hit it with black primer and paint.
Try it a couple of times on smaller ones until you get a feel for it as the foliage is like 12$ per basically a sandwich bag full.
I really need to paint more. I never get anything done. At least the Flakk Track is finished. There are specific rules for Ork vehicles with Flak guns. Fortunatly they never mention how big the vehicle has to be.
Dirt and grime always seems to suit the orks well . I always find it amazing how well the wartrack rear stood up to the test of time, and you integrated it nicely into the whole model. nice work!
A very small update to keep you interested. I recently got really back into playing 40k because a friend of mine has two really awesome tables and is currently running a campaign which my brother and I joined. That immedeatly motived to re-do some of my oder stuff. I'm currently repainting my Squigs and as I was going through my minis I noticed two things: 1. my Diver Orks looks pretty lame. The Burna Kommando looks like he's wearing the Ork equivalent of a diving suit. So I'm redoing that model since my Kommandos need a Diver.
I really want to get more stuff done for this army but I just have so much to do these days. The Stompa is still waiting to be put together (I bought it on release day ) and I have lots of ideas for more vehicles. I really want to look one of those great looking DE transports and I havbe another model that would work great as a small Squiggoth.
My army has not enough vehicles. At least not enough I'm still willing to field. Therefore I need more Trucks and maybe another Battlewagon. To start things off, I finally build a wagon out of some old parts I had lying around for YEARS and then I finished it within a few days.
Just a quick note: I was at the local GW recently and took a closer look at the Stormraven. After some consideration I decided not to loot it. It just doesn't work for me.
It's not that it's that ugly, the design fits well within the rest of the Space Marine stuff and it also feels a bit like the Valkyrie, but nothing about this model screamed "convert me" or anything. It's a flying block and there isn't even a good point to attach a walker (and I already had plans for a parachuting Deff Dread )
Still going to loot a Shadowbarge though and attach Deffkopta parts.
btw. I recently had a game against Dark Eldar and learned two things.
- I love fielding a KoS. Need to build more trucks.
- I can not believe how much Tankbustas suck! I've fielded them almost every time I played with the new book but they've never been so useless like this time. Even when a squad of Dark Eldar stood right in front of them, I could't charge, because they could still see a vehicle and had to shoot at it.
So, I'm leaving for Gamescom wednesday morning and take a small vacation right after that. So you probably won't see anything new from me until september and I thought I could post at least a little update in this blog and the other 2 active ones.
Recently I got my hands on a nice toy truck in just the right scale. I'm going to use it either for the Orks or my Traitor Guard army. Probably them, it doesn't quite feel right with Orks.
All this wonderful looting! I love how you used a Master of The Ravenwing jetbike. I have a rough time find intact ones out there, much less ones people were willing to loot!
I'm not sure how this has slipped past me for 5 pages. But holy crap there are some outstanding conversions in here. That trakk with the flak cannon, Awesome. And the garage for your battle wagon that look like the one from Dawn of War is amazing. Tons of other good stuff also. But those are the 2 I like the most. Great stuff ya got here. I do have a request if you dont mind. A group pic with everything you have completed to date would be fun to see.
The head of the Kommando Nob is probably one of, if not the, coolest Ork head GW ever made. And I can't decide if I want to use it for a Flash Git or a biker nob.
I don't want to overload the Waaagh Dakka thread with wip pictures. I'm still thinking about the details on my Flash Git. He now has another shoulderpad (since Flash Gitz have 'eavy armor), but I'm still working on the gun and haven't decided on the head yet.
I decided to put the ammo barrel on the other side of the gun, but now I'm considering adding a second one. What do you guys think?
Which head looks better, what do you think? The first one would have a Gitfinda, but the other one is better represantation of "me" in Waaagh Dakka since he has googles and I wear glasses.
two ammo clips and the first head for sure. the second head has a cool expression but it just does'nt look flashy enough.
and make sure he has another gun on his back or in a holster.... would look cool like that (all of this is just in my oppinion )
Too late. I finished him while recording a podcast. ^^ I went for the second head. He now has Gitfinda-goggles! On the other hand, the first one does look pretty cool as well. Maybe I'll rip it off again.
And while I do laut the overheating gauge, he does need a second ammo clip somewhere. I have to think about that a little longer.
Automatically Appended Next Post: Just added the ammoclip from a Warboss gun on top of the Snazz Gun.
Your flash git is looking great. I like the base model you chose, it suits a Flash Git well. I'm glad to hear you went with a different clip for the top barrel. I was going to suggest it, as the flash-gits like their kustom jobs. Great work!
I field a full Nob squad, with attached Warboss, 'eavy armor, a dock and powerklaws. And they wipe me out before I can do anything because they all have force weapons with iniative 7
My table is full. Like, really full. I have that special project I've talked about in the DCM Forum, my Waaagh Dakka Ork and tons of models for my traitor guard army.
But Gork damnit, I want to stark working on my Stompa, which I've bought about 5- years ago, back when it first came out. Originally I had planned to build in a speaker and add the 3 Rogue Trader Ork rockers, I still have lying around somewhere. But after which quite literarlly have been years of thinking about it, I decided to ditch that angle. I want to concentrate on the visual aspect and not worry about where I could put the speakers and how I could access the attached MP3 player.
I want a really bad-ass Stompa, though I haven't decided on the main weaponry yet. I really like the idea of a Stompa armed (har har har) with a wrecking ball, but I also love the sheer wackiness that comes with a tractor beam. Also, if I use two close combat weapons (I already have a few fitting parts for a wrecking ball) I can use the wonderful Stompa gun on something else. One thing I thought about was building a sort of command bridge into the chest of the Stompa, using the Big Mek who's leaning on his wrench as commander.
That's about it, I just really wanted to write about it. ^^
My brother asked me what I wanted for christmas and I said I was thinking about adding another battlewagon to my Ork army.
Though I wasn't sure what to do with them. I love the base model and already have one in use which I didn't convert at all. The question was, how to build another one, which captures the feeling of the current model, but still looks different enough from the regular one. Well, my brother got me TWO battlewagon kits for christmas. I guess I'll just have to figure something out.
Just a quick picture: Here's one of the awesome little buggies my brother got me for christmas. You can see which parts are from the original model and where I added GW bitz. I took the photo with my phone and uploaded it on facebook. It's lazy, I know, but a lot quicker than normal.
Buggy's looking good, do you do realize the skorcha upgrade turns it into a wartrakk automatically, right?

You could make one all wheels, one all tracks. And you could turn the all wheeled one into something that has more of a 'truck' feel, like this:
I like the BW except for the cockpit Don't really know what's wrong with it, main thing that throws me off is the lack of a motor hood I think, hence the truck idea
Yes, I know about the wartrakk rules, but the wheels look really good on the buggy. The second Scorcha based on the same model will have tracks, I still had an old wartrack lying around.
As for the Battlewagon, I really want to build one with only tracks. Maybe even combine it with the big Stompa gun. My brother had a similar idea about the truck, I'll keep it mind.
I like him with the tracks, though I'd add something mudguardlike for the tracks, would add that little bit extra IMO. Oh, and the hood ornament should be straight up, like on those old Mercedes models . Doesn't one of the IA books have rules for a BW with a supadeffkannon or something? Might be what you're looking for.
I love that red truck. The half military one. It's brilliant. I might steal the idea for myself if I find a suitable car.
And we both collect orks and traitor guard. Wahey!
The Waaagh Dakka Flash Git is all done except for the base. I'll probably base him once, take the pictures and redo him after that so he'll fit into my army.
Okay, 6th edition is out, let's get this thread rolling again.
Yesterday I finished the two Skorcha buggies. Next up for the Orks is the Dakkajet, which I already started painting.
Once I'm done with that I want to build more 'Ard Boyz with riot shields like the one above and maybe a unit of Burna Boyz. But who cares about infantry. The real fun begins with the vehicles.
I still have an unbuild Stompa in my closet and its time has come! But I don't know what to do with it. The original model, as all the GW Ork kits, is great but I can't not convert it. I already have a barely converted truck and battlewagon in my army and there wasn't much I could to with the Dakkajet. The plan was, to build him with a wrecking ball from the WD rules but it has to replace the regular Stompa CC weapon, which is too awesome and too big to use with anything else besides the Stompa. The huge cannon is nice, but that is a weapon I can use somewhere else. As a Supa Kannon on a Battlewagon and as an Ork AA turret terrain piece.
I think I have a few parts that would make a good Lifta Droppa, but then I still can't decide on the close combat weapon.
One thing I do know I want to do with the Stompa, is building some sort of control bridge in his chest, with a Big Mek standing there and commanding it.
depends on what you want it to do as to what it could be cool to have on it?
personally i like the uper shooty ones so, a head gun, a platform on his cheast with big mek and some more daka (more meky daka), big kff and a tail just for kicks
Hey that SWAT Ork idea is awesome. Mind if I loot it? Also good luck on looting the new DA stuff, the speeder already looks like it was built by pious orks, so it should look great once you loot it.
I don't even want to know how long its been since I've posted my last conversions. I really need to cut down on the gaming stuff.
Aaaaaanyway, I recently fell in love with those wonderful new Meganobz GW made. They were released together with the new Space Marine Codex for some reason, but I'm not complaining.
The fun thing about Centurions is, that they fit so well together that you really want to use as many parts as possible when you're converting them. I still had a box of Killakanz lying around which I got for christmas once. But I wasn't planning on building them anytime soon, so it was a perfect fit. The heads are from Kromlech.
This is the first one I build and so far I like him the most. The drill and gun fitted perfectly on the Centurion weapons. The other two will get greenstuff pants as well.
Number two has quite a large CC weapon and a kombi-rokkit.

And this one's the leader simply because he has a pointy finger. I attached a burna-tank to his back and then couldn't find a good spot to add a kombi-skorcha, so I just put a small flamer on his chest.
Truth is that I was actually thinking about doing something like that as well - using centurions as meganobz, that is. So, I can't exactly say that I don't like the idea there... I would start building them right away, if they just weren't so goddamn expensive...
How large are those bases? As someone who uses MANZ regularly, being on anything over 40mm is a serious disadvantage and would seriously hurt their ability to be used.
I have been on the fence if Centurions would make good MANZ or good KANZ. Sadly with them being so expensive, making 6 or 9 of these would be rough.
I put them on regular 40mm bases like Mega Nobz are supposed to. Though if GW ever gets around to make new ones in plastic, they'll probably get the larger ones as well.
They still need basing of course, but apart from a few bolts I think the boyz are ready for the table. Though I should probably build another 3, because who fields Meganobz units of three, right?
Hey there, nice work so far. What are you using to build the Belly Gun? I've been looking for something like this for a project I'm working on and this is perfect!

It's the Torso gun from the Skull Lord of Khorne. I still have one lying around because I wanted to use it as a base for a Plague Tower.
Automatically Appended Next Post: This is roughly what I have planned for the Stompa. Instead of a regular gun-arm, I will build a platform at shoulder height, with the cannon on top.
Proppa ace stompa! Love your other conversions as well. I have to wonder, with a Belly Gun, Gaze of Mork, and Lifta-Droppa, has this been inspired by a certain book about Orks, maybe?

Not really. I spend ages looking for the right set of rules to build my Stompa around. I knew I didn't want to use the standard set-up, but the Forge World rules were a bit overwhelming. Then I discovered the Big Mek Stompa in thw Apocalypse rulebook and decided to roll with it.
edit: Mork's Gaze ready to smite.
edit: Now here's the complicated part: Building another platform on the left shoulder. That's where the Big Mek is supposed to stand.
I wanted a spot for the Big Mek to stand, but I don't want to add a platform on top of the Lifta-Droppa, it should look like it can still move. What do you guys thing about this?
I won't be able to work on the Stompa for the next two weeks, I have a vacation coming up and the rest of the days are packed as well. Until then, enjoy this picture.
While each arm looks great (and orky), the Lifta-Droppa arm/shoulder is much less massive than the other one. That's not a problem with orky engineering, but it is a problem for a Big Mek's ego. If he's going to be on that shoulder it should look pretty imposing.
Maybe you could build a platform/crow's nest behind and above the lifta-droppa? It would connect more to the back and the shoulder than the arm, so the lifta-droppa should move freely. If the mek had a platform there (suitably armored), with some spinny gubbins and some flashy bits, I think he would feel a bit more 'large and in charge".
That's a good point. I just have to check where the best to put it would be, so the head can still move (a little). I originally planned to have him hold on to something with this other arm, because he really WANTS to sit there and point at stuff. But I'll think about the crows nest.
While gluing, I also noticed I no longer have any Ork-arms with binoculars left, which would've been great on top.
Hi guys. I'm back from Gamescom and could finally finish the building part of the Stompa.
As awesome as Da Butcha's crownest idea sounds, I just couldn't find a decent way to put one there. There just isn't enough room on the shoulder or the back to add something that's big and stable enough to support a Nob-sized Mek.
If I would've known how this model would develop, I might have gone all out and add another Battlewagon platform on the right side (I still have one leftover), but I liked the arm so much I really wanted to keep it like that. Also, the Grot missle looks pretty cool up there.
Now I just primed it and the current plan is to just put the Big Mek on the left shoulder right where the cannon is.
My only other option at this point would be to completly ruin the nice tractor beam arm my ripping it off, adding another shoulder platform and then try to put the beam cannon on top of that.
Good to have you back - and from Gamescom no less!
I agree with Anvildude, put the mek on the platform by the door with Mork's Gaze. Don't ruin your awesome Lifta-droppa! Just extend the platform a little with some plasticard or cut up bits of the BW platform.
Originally I planned to paint the Stompa mostly in bright yellow to show that he's part of my Bad Moon detachement, but with a few spots of red here and there, since most of my stuff is still Evil Suns red.
But something kinda rubbed me the wrong way with the color combination. When I looked at it from a different angle I didn't see any red parts at all and I have to say, I like it much better this way.
So I will repaint the red parts, maybe mix in some black/white patterns here and there, but when I'm done, this will definetly be a Bad Moon stompa. Besides, I have to add some lighting blue for the shield generators and tractor beam anyway.
Though I don't know when that will be, because painting this huge thing is kinda boring.
