Anyone suggested pith helmeted ogryns? With ridiculously bushy beards???

Silly suggestions aside (or was I being serious...?) this is all great work, Vic. Always loved the idea of steampunk Victorian guardsmen!

Keep 'em comin'!

P.S You could even give those moustachioed ogryn huge blunderbuss personal side cannon, or even huge six-barrelled Gatling guns...

I would love that, though I think it would be best to have a kit that "just so happens to fit" on plastic ogres

Hey, big news; Vic Minis now has a shiny, proper new shop front interface.
http://victoriaminiatures.highwire.com/
I would appreciate anyone who has a moment, to take a look around and let me know if there are any issues, or what I could do to make it better. I'm no web expert ,so setting this up has been quite a learning curve.
In the long run though, the Highwire interface will be much more user friendly for me and my customers, especially as the range expands.
One cool feature is the ability to leave product reviews, so I invite existing Vic Mini's customers to sign up and tell others what you think

Also, there is currently a short term impromptu deal going; the next 3 customers will receive some free cool stuff from the next upcoming wave of releases. I have a limited number of master casting in hand and will include them, each one will include the 10 man militia head sprue absolutely free, plus a few more cool new bits.
Cheers,, V

Love the new site Vic. I must say the old site had a certain charm that i was fond of, but the new site is cleaner and very well layed out.

Also love the winged boar. That thing looks brutal.

Edit - Forgot to mention, had a quick squiz around and didnt encounter any bugs or wonky pages, etc.

Likewise, didn't spot anything off-kilter from my brief nose around.

Was I just suffering from late-night stupidity, or is there no complete guardsman pack that includes the torsos and rifle arms? I could only find the conversion packs, with the torsos and rifle arms sold separately... which at 11 o'clock last night was just too hard.

I like the new store front!
Everything seems to be in working order. I registered without a hitch.
No issues navigating around.

I think I just placed an order but it seems like the payment was processed before the shipping cost was added?

When trying to complete the transaction after the shopping cart adds the $10 shipping I get this error: Unable to process your order: Payment has already been made for this InvoiceID.

Vic please let me know if my order didn't register.

Wow! those palace guard are great.

I already placed and received a small order about a week ago, but I'm definitively going to need to make a larger order very soon.

I was also one of the 3 lucky people to get some bonus stuff in my order, the heads were simply fantastic casts and they have some truly great expressions on their faces. The holsters will come in very handy as well.

Any idea when those shotguns you were showing off will be available from your store?

The new store looks great, as do all the extra little bits and pieces you've added recently.

Is there any chance of having sprues of just gas masks though please? I could do with 30+ of those and the packs for my whiteshields, but don't really need 90 sets of goggles

Post by: cert

Great work vic, I would like to point out that the laser pistol arms are not in the weapons and gear section which is a bit odd since the rifle arms are, not sure if that was done on purpose but I personally think they should be listed there.

Hi, got a surprise little 2nd release for July.
The Conscript Legs are now available in the online store. There are 7 different poses and they come in two sets: 5x Standing Conscript Legs and 6x Kneeling Conscript Legs. As always, fully compatible with Vic Minis Guard range and popular plastic troops.
These are beautifully sculpted by the amazing Gregor Adrian.
Thanks for looking, V

Vic, have you seen the pics Andy Hoare's been putting up on facebook? He's using various parts from your minis to convert other things. He's even mixed them with Reaper minis (and not just "popular plastic kits" ).

It appears that your bitz work with everything!

August New Releases! Heavy Weapon Crew Arms and The Gas Mask and Goggles sprues are now available. I am very thrilled to present this super useful arms set sculpted mostly by the awesome Paul Hicks and a little bit by me. Great for heavy weapon crews, these pieces also open up some characterful new options for adding variety to commanders and squads. This set contains 14 different arms plus the bonus head shown.
Also, due to popular demand, the Gas mask and Goggles sprue is back and all the parts are now available separately. That makes five different sprues to choose from. All now in the online store. www.victoriaminiatures.com
Thanks for looking,
Vic.

How are those shotguns coming

Are the cloaks above smooth, or is the camo pattern textured/sculpted onto it? Wondering about whether it could be used to make cloaked guardsmen, of a non-camo variety.

Cheers!

Crap, thanks, for some reason my eyes passed over that one thinking it was just a whole different model, forgetting that Vic does the cool "new model by using different pieces" approach

I was more meaning with the Cuff at the end of the sleeve, then again that could be easily molded on by myself... alas i'm all thumbs when it comes to sculpting, well more just like two closed fists. But if the shoulder boards were to come attached that would be all kinds of awesome.

For the guys who have used 100% Vic parts to make full minis, do they usually require pinning? Reason I ask is I'm planning on making an army that looks like the old cadians, and many of vic's parts look like they would be perfect.

I don't have a problem with pinning, I've just never done it before and would like to know if I need to start learning. Only thing killing me now is figuring out when, and what, to order. I swear, everytime I order something awesome comes out the next week and I want that too

EDIT: Just checked out the facebook page, wow those new torsos in the works would be perfect for what I need, as would those "veteran" arms. When are they due to be released roughly? I need to know how much I need to save up

Very cool Vic, i placed an order this afternoon for some gas masks/goggles (And a few other items.) that i've been frothing over for awhile but could never justify the $10 postage for such a small order.

Concerning the gas masks are there grooves on the back that allows them to fit over the lower facial region, or are they completely flat? just wondering so i know how much conversion work will be needed for a few Post-apoc models i've been planning.

I love the grenade launcher! The shotguns are also excellent.

There were preview greens a while ago including a Russian ushanka head. Are there plans for something like Valhallans, or at least heads for them? I'd be interested in picking up some Valhallan-style troops that were sculpted this century

I agree with Brother SRM. Not that it's about to stop me from buying a whole host of shotguns and extras now though.

Just put my order in for the shotguns and heavy weapons, now what to do while I wait... Bah, come here current models I suppose I'll add some paint to you.

Oh man this is driving me crazy. I really wish there was some sort of squad bundle option or something. I'm trying to make some vets and everytime I add up the bitz I've always got like 1 torso too many or I'm short 1 head or something to make all the guys for the squad I need. Oh well, I'll end up getting extras of something, just need to decide where that will be...

Also, for you guys that have gotten the conscript legs, how do they match up with the victorian torsos? I can't make up my mind on whether I want those or the victorian legs more. Trying to make some shotgun vets inspired by the old starship trooper esque metal Cadians and I just can't make up my mind on which ones would look better for them.

Yes, but doing a Kickstarter is very difficult for Australians (I'm working on it)
And yes, working on resin production too, its a very slow process, but it is on the way.
In the meantime......

Hi, I'm working on some new Highland legs. Let me know what you think of these sculpts and how you like your kilts? Soft pleats? (grey) or Hard pleats? (green).
Thanks, all feedback appreciated. V

Victoria Miniatures: Warhorse project-page 172 @ 2012/11/18 01:11:19

Post by: alarmingrick

They're both really nice looking!
But I'd say the hard pleat wins by a..... pleat!

Victoria Miniatures: Warhorse project-page 172 @ 2012/11/18 01:11:28

Post by: Clang

Both look good to me. In real combat conditions (not that I've ever fought in a kilt), I'm guessing a new kilt would start off well-pressed and hard-pleated, then slowly become rumpled and soft-pleated due to the lack of laundry and ironing facilities?

I've seen some dreadful attempts at painting tartan, and suspect the soft pleats might be slightly more forgiving of painting mistakes.

Really, I think a combination of both would be fine.

^^ Dammit, I guess I'll have to just find something to buy from the shop then. ...Goggles; there can never be enough goggles.

An item that I haven't seen on the site is pouches. Sure there's other kit items like ammo belts, scabbards, holsters and canteens, but there's a lack of bits to fill in the spaces between. Pouches are simple to make, but so's all the other bits of gear, its the time required to make them enmasse tends to be a bore. (I mean outside of the dress uniform kits that is)

There are some that come with the Victoiran torsos: http://victoriaminiatures.highwire.com/product/3-victorian-torsos

And they fit great with the torsos. But, can you ever really get too many pouches?!
I'm using FW backpacks with my torsos. I'd suggest a backpack of some sort.

=P The last part of my comment mentioned that I'd like to see them as a seperate product, not alongside the torsos.

Heh, I think I'm using about a half dozen company's backpacks on my models. Those along with the respirator air tanks for the same number again too (which reminds me I'm running short). I know a few companies make webbing items, but I appreciate Victoria Miniature's products just for the ease that they slip in with the other lines. I don't use their bits as for the primary elements of a model typically, but they're great for the little accessories that go along with them (and like I mentioned, sculpting details is all well and good, but once you've done that its nice to just pick up a little extra canteen or something to just fill in a few gaps). =)

Traditionaly Diggers was slang for the ANZAC soldiers during World War 1. Now it just come to mean any Australian Soldier. The Kiwis may have also adopted the word for their troops as well but im not sure. But yes essentialy, guys with shovels digging trenches.

What do the Diggers consist of Vic? Slouch hats and WW1 uniforms style uniforms? Maybe backpacks with shovels and boadie helmets hanging off. That would be cool.

Vic, you just made my old style Cadians conversion idea a reality *manly tears*

Rolled sleeves? Check

Awesome combat armor? Check

Old styled Lasguns? Check

Metal? Check

Tons of character? Check

As soon as I can get my student loans figured out, I'll be making a large order soon with flak armor torsos, rolled sleeves, victorian legs, and all sorts of other goodies. If I can just find some helmet heads, my work is pretty much done. The only scratch work I'll have to do is making the shoulder armor parts.

Also, any thoughts on some helmet heads to go in line with those combat armor torsos?

No, see the problem I have (as I described a page or so ago) is that I had waited and waited for Vic to release her ANZAC heads. She had originally teased them over a year ago - I tried to be patient - I did. But then, the day before she released pics of her Slouch Hat heads, I went and ordered 40 of MaxMini's from the WarStore (I already had 10 from a previous order). I was a very sad monkey when I saw that she had released hers. But I've been waiting for someone to produce Rolled Sleeve arms since Vic originally sculpted some for her original Golden Daemon ANZAC guardsman entry years ago. So, I ordered up a bunch of them to go with all the MaxMini heads I'd already ordered.

But, I'd be a fool to not at least try her Slouch Hat heads for comparison.

And it's an IG army. While I may have enough heads and arms for my troops now, there's certainly room to expand for more troops needing Vic's Slouch Hat heads.

Sorry if i sounded like i was questioning your order. It was meant as more of a joke about the oddness of the order. Like who orders 70 arms and ONE set of heads. Kinda hard to convey humour over text.... Even crappy humour such as mine.

I've been wanting to start a Australian themed force ever since i saw this army. The only thing that put me off buying the maxmini ones was the faces. That and the fact that i couldn't find torsos that i liked. Now however that Vic has solved both those problems my chances of running an Aussie Guard army is looking good.

No worries - I wasn't offended at all. I appreciated the joke, but I figured it was worth a better explanation.

Victoria completed this Rough Rider over a decade ago - and ever since then, I wanted an Aussie-style IG army.

I've seen a few such armies - some better, some worse - but the amount of conversion and green stuff on such a large scale had been prohibitive to building the army. With folks like Vic, MaxMini, and Puppet's War coming out with some good slouch hat heads, it has become substantially easier. Santobell's is the first I've seen to use Slouch Hat heads in a large capacity (I particularly like his Chimera Ute, too). I don't mind the look of the MaxMini heads. I think the Puppet's War ones look way too cartoony, but I'm really looking forward to seeing how Vic's look in person. I'm already working out a list that'll let me have an excuse to make some Light Horse Rough Riders.

@Void_walker - I think it'll actually be pretty easy to do Light Horse with the bits Vic's already got up there, although some Rolled Sleeve arms with lances seem like they'd be a pretty easy addition.

I love these guys! Great models as always, and an archetype I don't see very often. Even in WW2 minis, I don't see many Aussies. Also, those flak armor and groin plate bits are aces as well.

Hi, thanks for all the great feedback and comments. (yes that was a lot of rolled sleeved arms I packed this morning.
Here is a pic of the squad set I currently have on offer (hopefully the first of many).
You get all there bits plus 10 slotta bases for $45 US.
Let me know what you would like to see in future sets.
Thanks,

You floated the idea sometime back of one piece Troopers for quick squad building. Was that viable or was there a lack of positive response? I'd be interested but only to mix amongst modular troops thereby retaining some individuality in squads.

Okay, why not? Let's give this stuff a try and with the free shipping, all the more reason to jump in while I can!

edit.

Flak Armour Groin Guards, Flak Armour Torsos, Militia Heads, Shoulder Boards, Shotgun Arms, Rolled Sleeve Arms, Dress Uniform Torsos, Sword and Laser Pistol Arms, Pistol Holsters, Conscript Legs, Grenade Launcher arms, Ammo Belts and Victorian Torsos.

Let's do this.

Though would it sound crazy if I said I was just looking at the groin plates, tossed in the flak torsos and it, ahem, escalated from there?

Could do, I'm still getting a feel for how fiddly people can manage multi part minis, but so far the tiny bits I've made seem popular.

Yes, I am still planning some unit builder one piece minis, but want to get the modular sets done first.

I'm going to echo the female bit of that request, though without the torsos remark, manly chests don't work for girls, though if this were to happen, it would be grand: Female troops using the style of torsos, arms, legs and whatnots as the other ranges you have up for sale.

I third a request for a females kit. Some armoured torsos and maybe an officer torso or just plain non armoured torsos would bloody beaut.

There are already Rough Rider parts. Its not a full kit per se but you can easily make up a squad with the parts available. Infact the only componant of Rough Riders Vic doesnt do are the Horses themselves.

Yes, but the legs are different to the ones used in this set, I would like to see matching styles in the rough riders, also rolled sleeved arms for the horse riding pose.

Arms with one handed weapons and some packs to add to mounts, however if you want to go the full hog or should I say horse and produce the mount that would be amazing.

I would imagine that solid metal horses could be quite a hassle to put together and keep that way! It may be an idea to scour bitz websites for some. The warstore has several types for a few bucks each (though they are all very ornate).

Doing some new parts for them. The next squad deals will be Tannenbutg Fusiliers, Palace Guard and Victorians.

I am pleased to announce the launch of a very special project; 'The Galaxy's Finest'. This is an inspiring collection of background histories, famous battles and regimental origins written by Andy Hoare.
First in the series is the Tannenburg Fusiliers, Victorian Guard, Highlanders and the mysterious Cthood.
It has been a real thrill to see this come together, the combination of text, illustrations and painted miniatures really brings the regiments to life and creates the beginning of an ever expanding and evolving world. http://victoriaminiatures.highwire.com/pages/tannenberg

This sounds awesome. Are you planning on making your own gaming system Vic? It could be pretty popular if all you need are guardsmen to play it. Most IG players have enough models for 2 or 3 armies in smaller games, so it would be easy for us to demo it to people who were wanting to try it out.

Either way, anything even remotely imperial guard related fluffwise always piques my interest, can't wait to check this out!

Also, that meltagun concept is insane. If the finished product looks even remotely like that those things will be a liscense to print money

Yeah gotta agree with Moustaffa here. If you put those notmelta guns into production it would be like owning your own mint.

They are steampunky without being too steampunky and they look enough like what they're not so that everyone will know what they are.

I've made four orders and the only one that incurred a charge (£11 HMRC, £8 Post Office Fee???) was for one that topped £100.00. I now have to decide on future orders if its better to order less and pay Vic's postage charge than pay Customs their fee.

There will be much rejoicing when that package shows up

Just got my package of a ton of rolled sleeve arms and slouch hat heads! Your timing is impeccable, Victoria! I'm packing up house to move out on Friday and I was a little worried that the shipment wouldn't arrive before I left and the package would have to get forwarded to my new temporary address. Thanks also for the extra rifles and rifle straps - they'll definitely come to good use! Oh, and the winged-skull hatpin detail did not go unnoticed - that pretty well rocks.

I'm very excited about the Van Diemen's World heads. Their proportions are perfect!

Compare this to the same model with MaxMini's ANZAC head:

It's funny, because on the sprue, the Van Diemen's World heads look kind of baby-faced and puffy, but once you put them on the model, you find the proportions are exactly what are needed to match GW's. MaxMini's head looks pretty emaciated by comparison. I'll be using the MaxMini heads that I've already bought, but when it comes time for more, I'm definitely going with the Van Diemen's World heads from here on out.

Also, just as an FYI to US Dakkaites interested in Vic's models, but are concerned about how long it takes for it to ship from Australia: I made my order on Dec. 5 and it arrived today, Dec. 17 - so, 12 days for shipping. Not bad at all.

Sorry man, but the face of the Maxmini head looks like he crapped his pants!
And I've had my orders from vic usually take 7-10 days. Never takes too long!
I'm glad you posted some pics of the new arms w/ Cadian torsos! They, and the
head look fantastic!

Victorian leg sets have been re-released after having been sharpened up and put into new packs.

These five for $8.30

These six for $10.00

Yes, they are redone using the conscript legs as a base. They won't look out of place next to the old ones, they are just better sculpts with more detail.

So, have you thought about doing a command squad upgrade kit, kind of like the heavy weapons set? Things like a regimental standard, bugles, officer heads, binoculars, swagger sticks, and the like? That's pretty much all you need now to make a well rounded army at this point.

I would love to see a standard in particular, they always add so much character to an army.

I'd love to see rifle arms and pistol using the same armoured panels as found on the shotgun arms, tie the whole force together.

Also, those ammo belts? Amazing stuff. The soft metal used is amazing and works like a charm an all torsos I've got lying about (Flak, dress coat and Victorian).

While we're throwing out requests, do you plan on any Rough Rider arms with rolded up sleeves? They would fit with the Slouch hats like a glove!
And I second all of MM's above mentioned ideas as well. All but the standard. It wouldn't be a deal breaker if the set didn't have one.

Brought some of the tartan ones a while back, loving the new version of those, so will be looking for more at some point.

Still hoping for female anything from Vic at the mo, the amount of money waiting for this is a lot. As in whole new regiment, plus extras to seed girls in every squad through out the other two regiments I have as well.

I have mentioned this before, but I figure If I bring it up every three or four months it'll keep the idea ticking over.

Happy New Year From Vic Minis.

Coming up in 2013
Hi, Thank you for making 2012 such a big year for Vic Minis, The amazing level of support and encouragement I have received over the last 6 months has paved the way for 2013 to be huge.

There will be new minis, new regiments, new illustrations, fingers crossed, a Kickstarter and of course more great fiction from Andy Hoare. And I am really looking forward to branching into some non-metal miniatures in the not too distant future.

Please keep your suggestions and feedback coming, the community really is what keeps Vic Minis moving forward, I am very excited about the possibilities for the new year.

Here's a little teaser, V

Victorian Legs Mark 2
The Victorian Legs have been re-done. This is an improvement on an old favorite, they now have more detail and more poses. These will still mix with your existing legs.

Last Days for free Shipping.
New Years Day is the last day for the free shipping offer. The last month has been mad, so much so that my holiday stock is running very low. I will work through the holidays but I won't receive a re-stock until my caster is back on the 7th of January.
All items may be ordered as usual, just please bear with me if you order is despatched a little later than expected.

Look plastic to me. But best of all, more arm variants with the armoured panels a-la the shotgun arms!

Aaargh! Those penal troops look great but I've literally just put an order in last night for enough parts to make 2 penal legion squads (along with loads of other bits for all my various regiments)

Oh well, wanted to make a huge penal legion anyway and if those figs are indeed plastic then i'll certainly be buying them when they're released!

That helmet/gasmask is bad ass, definitely looks cool with the flak armour torso, that'll be on my future shopping list too! As will the penal legion officer type with the Shock Maul, brilliant!

While not fond of the vox operator head (Gotta make do with what I got on hand) I am super-pleased with these overall, especially the ammo belts, while a wee bit fiddly, do add that extra bit of cool to already cool models. Shotgun trumps lasgun, I don't care about your stupid logic, my (future) army runs on the rule of cool.

Not quite plastic, but very close.

Vic might be doing bitz in trollcast down the road.

Bear with me, as this was something I found sniffing around on the facebook page, looking to see if anything new was coming up.

In the comments, many people asked what the minis were made of, and she states they were a test run to see how trollcast works. I believe this is the same process Defiance Games used for their bugs/germans, although from what I've heard, Defiance Games is the only one to have trouble with it. Everywhere else I've seen trollcast stuff it looks really good.

It's kind of like a blend of resin/plastic from what I understand. Supposed to be more durable/cheaper/detailed. Don't quote me on that though.

Here's the facebook post I found all this on http://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=392879837415151&set=a.162172233819247.10795.162170277152776&type=1&relevant_count=1

However, I highly doubt any of this is set in stone. She very well could have changeg her mind between now and then and decided to stick with metal or use a regular resin.

Least now we can maybe get away with decent superglue and a bit of gs when bonding the new TrollCast plasin bits together, because drilling and pinning is not fun when every single piece of a dude has to be fixed like this.

Alright, how many people do I need to sleep with/brutally maim/blackmail/bribe to make this happen?

Because multipart plastic kits in this style of minis would make me weep tears of manly joy.

At the very least, trollcast will give us all the awesome of plastic AND resing from what I've heard, so long as you dont mind using superglue. Plastic glues that chemically "melt" the pieces doesn't work on it for some reason.

Victoria Miniatures: Warhorse project-page 172 @ 2013/01/14 10:31:52

Post by: lone dirty dog

HA HA HA easy there it would be cool to see plastic box sets come to light indeed (I to would weep but more like a small girl)

I have to say Vic seem to be charging into her mini line (in a good way) the line has grown extensively and quickly, the quality as been of a high quality and ties up nicely with other ranges but still keeping originality.

I think in the future we could well see a plastic box set or at least resin/plastic sets, either way I am sure there will be many cool things to come.

To be honest, if your finding you need to pin infantry sized metal figures then your glue is rubbish. Theres no doubt of the value of pinning in larger heavier models, but for human sized thats crazy unless your making a habbit of throwing your models around the room!

Though thats not to say seeing Vics stuff in resin/plastic is'nt great news for the hobby!

Victoria Miniatures: Warhorse project-page 172 @ 2013/01/14 10:37:41

Post by: lone dirty dog

Hey Col Gravis stop lurking and get me my bikes LOL But I do agree about the glue issue I only pin awkward posed minis (where there is an increased weakness) or as you mentioned heavy models.

However I should mention I am not a gamer just a mini collector, so maybe with the constant playing of miniatures it could be an extra assurance.

I would so love to see a kickstarter I would even work weekends and bank holidays to fund it I think you would be quite surprised how much backing you get

I would love to see a set of plastic miniatures of your designs, however I know the difference between your range and DreamForge is his was CAD as yours are sculpted.

Now not knowing that much about the process of producing the moulds for plastics or whats involved I don't know how easy that would be to achieve.

However I would buy box sets of your all ready produced models in plastic by the bucket load, don't get me wrong I love your miniature, but in plastic they are easy for conversions

I don't need to know exact days or anything, "summer", "fall", or "late spring" would be awesome. I just want to know whether I can order the legs now or should save my cash for the kickstarter.

On Trollcast. Check for realistic time schedules. He is busy to fulfill casting for 2 kickstarters including Reaper. He is in principle responsible to do all Defiance Games stuff (if they still are in business), and Ed still has things on his shelves for more than 3 years (to be fair from times when he did casting in an evening job, but anyway). So everyone's advice "Just ask Ed" is not the solution to all problems.

Where did you read that Ed Fortae was involved in the Reaper KS? this is the first time i've heard of it.

Concerning Defiance Ed said over on Frothers that he cut them off a few months ago, and that he was trying to help them overcome their problems but just wasn't willing to work for free. Over on the Defiance Facebook page they mention purchasing a few casting machines so im guessing at this point they're casting the Bugs and Germans themselves. (Which would explain the sub-par quality of the Germans over in the Defiance thread.)

@Vic,
I haven't seen it mentioned yet but will the Kickstarter be funding the Trollcast kits? Just wondering as I remember reading a post by you over on BGG a few months ago saying that you were planning to KS your game Labyrintus in the future.

Ed's not been involved in Reaper Bones (probably a typo from Kroothawk)

but he is doing master making and casting for Red Box Games, Impact Miniatures Chibi stuff, his own KS and Imbrian Arts,

plus he's done tests for Kingdom Death so he could end up doing part/all of that too (no contacts have been signed on this one so that could all fall through)

Hi all!

I wrote the other day a mail to Vic asking her if she could make some leg sets in bermudas, like the 8th Army had in WWII, to make a desert style army for 40K.
And also some rolled up sleeve arms for officers, as she has them already with lasguns.

Got her reply today, saying that she'd like to do some legs in shorts, only not sure if there is a resonable demand for them.

Heads, arms, torsos and equipment for a 8th Army style are already all in the shop, even scots heads and leg sets with kilt.

So what do you guys think, would a desert style work or it it just a stupid idea of mine?

While I think shorts would be funny (especially with Pith helmets, in a sort of "game warden" style costume), I'm not sure I'd buy any.

If you do want shorts, you can probably find some plastic WWII models and harvest their legs. I'd imagine it would be somewhat cheaper than buying metal legs, though lower quality and more of a pain in the keister. The problem is that it's an extremely niche market.

What about the WW1 Australians in shorts. And the British Generals complaint about them wearing shorts, demanding that they stop wearing them.

I think it was in the movie Gallipoli, that shows what some Australian troopers did in reserve areas, namely just not wear any pants at all.

I don't know I think it could work and sell, I would buy them for sure but that is just me I guess.

I think you have to get it right you don't want them to look like the pics above thats for certain, but take Vics kilt legs remove the skirt I mean kilt and alter to shorts hey presto

Thats the look I would go for myself ties it all in together, maybe cargo shorts with some pockets on the sides to give a bit more depth and detail, but no long sox

If i get the time I might convert one of the legs sets of kilts to give an idea if you think it will help

I'd buy shorts. Combine them with the ANZAC heads for my own 40k 8th Army Aussies. Hell, I'd also buy some Doughboy hats to use as Lemon-Squeezers for my Bros from ENZed (also in shorts).

Updating them a little to also include Cargo Pockets would work well, I think.

Thanks for the suggestions.
Here is a re-enactors pic that was very inspiring for my Van Demon's World Devils squad, Aussies in Burma WW2, as you can see half of them are wearing shorts.
Cheers,
V

Totally agree but add some pockets if you don't mind, that way it some how don't ask me why though makes them seem more sci-fi compatible

Good idea, they'd be great for conversions (i.e. putting them on other heads), as well as for hanging from belts, lying on the ground etc

Latecomer to this thread, but wow, that's great news about a potetial trollcast Vic miniatures.

I've only made one purchase from Victoria and it was very small, but I am extremely pleased. I ordered a batch of accessories and especially lasguns to arm up some RT plastic squats whose lasguns were missing or broken. They are perfect! They have the lasgun look, but are tru'ish in proportions and the same length (minus the shoulder stock as the RT plastic doesn't have one) from grip to muzzle.

I've heard many folks talk about wanting to convert the new crop of historical plastics into IG regiments. The downside almost always seems to be that GW weapons are too heroic. The only conversions I've seen that look halfway decent are when folks manage to hunt down the smaller original RT weapons.

I think that Victoria weapons and accessories may be the answer. I'm sure she wants to promote her own figures, but there' s alot of folks out there that need to know that they may no longer have to go scrounging and begging for RT era weapons to find lasguns, and other bits for converting their "true" scale historical troops.

Now if only you made less-than-heroic size bolters and bolt pistols....

Hey Vic, if this Kickstarter gets off the ground any idea what sort of stuff might be in it? Current stuff redone in a different medium or all new stuff?

We normally exceed the 1,000 mark for the "AdeptiCon" swag bag items and in recent years have done upwards of 1500. I would expect we will do that number or more.

Hi, A very limited selection of Victoria Miniatures will be available from the Aetherworks stall at CANCON this weekend. For something special, I put together these one-off squad packs. There are 4 different regiments and only ten packs total. These clamshells are packed to the limit with metal goodness. There will also be a selection of bits and single minis.
Cheers,
V

I think making these clampacks (plus one for Van Demon's World Devils) a general release is the way to expand your business.
Bits are nice, but ready packs of complete squads are nicer.
