Recently we were working on two completely new designs called BADLANDS and SWAMP. Both will be available in 1-2 months in sizes 6x4, 4x4 and 3x3.
BADLANDS is mix of Grass and Dirt, for people who are not into completely grassy mats. Check some pictures here:
The Badlands mat looks absolutely great and perfect for Lord of the Rings / Hobbit gaming, as it looks like it would fit in with nearly any region of Middle Earth.
Cool, happy to hear that! Let´s see how all the details will be printed on the fabric top of the mat. Will keep you guys posted hopefully till end of June we will have mat samples ready
The new designs look very interesting, and that pic is awesome Necros! I have this theory that awesome mat companies simply cannot also be awesome photographers, it seems to go hand-in-hand (obviously, I'd prefer the mat to be awesome, and have someone else take pics!)
My only point of feedback on Badlands is the green looks to be in 2 "patches", and might have been cool to have it a bit more dispersed. I'm very interested to see how you cut the 4x4 out of that 6x4 - as I think 4x4 is what I'd be after.
Looking forward to seeing more on it later this month!
BADLANDS samples arrived ! Check the pictures of a new mats with our new design. These will be available in 6x4, 4x4 and 3x3 sizes to Preorder in about 1-2 weeks - delivery beginning of September. will keep you guys posted. Each mat comes with a free carry bag. And a tag with name of a design outiside of bag - that you guys know which design you have in the bag without having to open it.
Check the video review of our new designs Badlands and Swamp by legendary Ash Barker from Guerrilla Miniature Games. Thanks for supporting URBANMATZ http://www.urbanmatz.com
URBANMATZ got new designs Badlands and Swamp in stock, check them out ! Both in 6x4, 4x4 and 3x3 sizes. Each mat comes with a free carry bag. http://www.urbanmatz.com/
The urban matz would also be excellent for Judge Dredd (which I would recommend to anybody) and of course, Necromunda or Mordheim, or insert skirish game in here.
I thought the GW mats were high quality and visually appealing, but these are even better, not because the quality is any different (it's equally as good) but because they're generic, they're more likely to sell.

It is pretty nifty, yeah. Though Im still glad I got a on-sided one, doublesided might damage the side its lying on on some tables... (mine, for instance)
That said, its a really cool idea to add some more utility to a mat. And personally, I think the design on these is a bit cooler than on most competitors - theres lots of realism in there, without going over the top, or adding too many threedimensional parts that would ruin the illusion. Just really nicely done stuff.

our Asphalt neoprene gaming mat together with perfectly matching 2D terrain to create your own city - each game in a different way. https://www.urbanmatz.com/c/2d-terrain
Hey, liking what i'm seeing - but i have a money question.
What is the postage cost on your gaming table+ 6x4 mat to the uk?
I cant find the table at a uk distributor and you only show the prices for matz...
We are so proud to present you another terrain: DUNGEON WALLS.
this is a prepainted set of 40pcs of DUNGEON WALLS that you can connect to each other easily and you create your beautiful table. There are 6 different types of walls, 10cm and 20cm long. https://www.urbanmatz.com/p/287/dungeon-walls-40pcs
It goes perfectly with our Cobblestone Battlefield 2 neoprene gaming mat - used on the pictures.
Nifty stuff. Though maybe it includes a few too many doors... At least, based on the amount of openings in the example layout. Still cool that you arent skimping on pieces though, lots of similar systems seem a lot more stingy in terms of pieces you get...
I'd just like to say briefly - I ordered a 6' x 4' Asphalt mat from Urbanmatz last week. It arrived in 5 days, well packaged, is very good quality, and looks great.
URBANMATZ is very proud to present you a very new pre-painted 7pcs terrain set: 6 fantasy houses (3 different types) and 1 bridge. The whole set comes pre-painted and ready-to-play straight out of the box. Material resin.
I like the mats, and the terrain is nice, I just think its a bit over coasted for what you get. Comparing it to GW, their terrain is just better and in some situations cheaper. big blocky buildings are pretty fast to paint, same with ruins and walls etc.
Id consider if there was a good discount for some sale, but besides that don't think ill ever purchase these
You really do have the best mat designs, imo. Theyre just so nice and subdued, they really blend into the background. Nothing that looks too obnoxiously 3D, nothing that takes the focus from the models. It just looks like... well, a battlefield. And moving across it feels natural. Still really happy with mine.
Ruined version of our Fantasy houses are available now to preorder with shipping in 2 weeks. 3pcs set comes prepainted and ready-to-play straight out of the box.
Any chance of a North American distributor? I love your products but the shipping is prohibitive. I say this having ordered two sets of your dungeon walls.

Shipping costs is the main keeping me from ordering myself. I’m dithering between if I want a snow mat or a grass mat, and they have that nice double sided one. But once you factor in shipping, It’s almost cheeper just to get two single sided mats locally.
Table looks nice, and is something I could use in my small apartment. Again, shipping pushes is from “maybe” to “no"
Hobby companies on different continents really should license each others' stuff, or just trade designs or something, so we could get any design made and shipped locally.
I haven't found an issue with the shipping, but I just expect it'll be a bit more than locally. The designs from companies like Gamemat, Urbanmatz, and Deep Cut are so much better than the normal Fat Mats locally, I gladly pay the $15-20 extra to get them. Just personal preference of course.
Shipping to the USA for one mat from Urbanmatz is 27EUR. It goes down to a little over 17EUR per if your order three. (Gamemat.eu and DeepCut Studios have lower shipping.) I have paid these prices in the past, and more, for shipping their pre-painted resin terrain, and I really love UrbanMatz product. But it’s just too steep going forward. I think their products are priced fairly but they are trapped behind the wall of shipping rates.
lord_blackfang wrote: Hobby companies on different continents really should license each others' stuff, or just trade designs or something, so we could get any design made and shipped locally.
that would be cool but it's a tricky thing to get right, you've got to trust the folk making your stuff elsewhere as unless it's 'perfect' it may well reflect badly on you if people see it (eg the printing on that mat is rubbish buy one of Bobs Magnificent Mats, but it's nothing to do with Bob it's all down to a licencor having poor QC)
You also risk larger scale buyers (who don't have the limitations of individual postal shipping to worry about) going to the licencee rather than you for bulk sales either because they're cheaper, faster to deliver or just more convenient (perhaps they already buy other stuff from them so adding these mats makes sense and so your income falls (margin will never be as high on a 3rd party sale compared to a direct one)
and that's before you have to decide what the licencing fee is going to be (and whether you can trust the licensor to accurately report sales, or not pilfer bits of your design to make their own similar stuff, all to easy with textures or 3d designs for laser cutters)
The sectors Include industrial, urban, cargo storage and trench works. There are also the special boards of spaceship interior and shrine interior. So just about any current mat design could be used.
TBD wrote: Will you guys be producing 22" x 30" Kill Team size mats in the (hopefully near) future?
we need to work on it. what kind of designs would you like to see in this size ? thanks for the tips !
Kill Team is sci fi so like Flinty said basically anything that fits with GW's 40K terrain and other sci fi terrain.
New designs would be cool of course, but if for example your current (dark) Desert or Industrial mat was available cut to 22" x 30" size I would definitely buy one of those.
Th3re are rules for using the sewers, so maybe a few gratings thrown in there as well to.mix it up. Some simple.concrete with a few parking/loading bays and a few sets of hazard striping and other road markings and some.open spaces to.put terrain.

all noted. we will all discuss it here and hopefully do something great thanks !

lets agree that if we do exactly as you described then you get one for free
I am going to have to earmark your double-sided Badlands and Desert map. It's a damn awesome combination, and something I can definitely see myself using for both fantasy and Sci-fi.

I cleaned up a handful of table pictures, some of which featured my Urbanmatz so I'll throw them up here. I'd rank Urbanmatz at the top of the graphical game in the mat realm...where I find Fat Mats etc. to be at the bottom. I think Gamemat.eu and Deepcut Studios are almost on par with Urbanmatz. Urbanmatz has really nice, crisp designs and seems to think about gaming when they're printed, etc. They're becoming my go-to after a couple of different mats from them.
The most common one I use is Concrete Area:

Spoiler:
I also use the broken roads one quite a bit, originally picked up for Mordheim but it sees use with 40K and other games as well (one part of this larger table)

Thus far I'll say Urbanmatz is my top choice. They automatically exclude VAT and provide a free carrying bag with the mats, etc. The few questions I've had have been answered promptly and they've always shipped quick to me. No complaints.

Oh thank you very much. Those pictures are beautiful !!!
Fat mats tend to look like video game backgrounds.
Does anyone make a nice, classic yellow sand desert without big dumb imposing features? Deep Cut's desert is more of the cracked earth type and Gamemat's has that dry riverbed dominating the whole mat.
You sure you're looking at the right DeepCut mat? The "Desert" one on their website looks sandy to me. It's got some textures and features on it, but nothing too imposing.

I see your terrain packs come in bundles. Is it possible to order individual pieces or create different bundles like "mix n match"?
it should be possible, pls email us urbanmatz@gmail.com and send us what mix are you interested in. thanks !
I really wish those walls for Necromunda were around 6 months ago. I wanted a resin pre-painted set at the time, but the other one out there didn't suit my tastes. I ended up making a custom set. But had this been available, I'd have bought 2 sets.

They look great.
What is it that we can say? Only one thing: SORRY FOR THAT !!
We have been working on something completely new: 3D PRINTABLE WARGAMING TERRAIN. We are running Indiegogo campaign starting in about 1 month where you can buy STL files at special price 0.80 USD / 1 STL file / 1 wargaming terrain. First 3D printed sneak peek painted by Wargaming Mamas. And yes this one below (STL file for 3D printing) will be offered at 80 cents !
Still hopeful you’ll do a set of the Grey coloured Rocks set in the Desert Rock set colours? Here’s a pick of the current setup with a full set of the Desert Rocks and x2 sets of Craters. I’ve painted them slightly to blend in more with the ‘Mars’ type mat.
Need to spend some time and take some better pics!
I think the issue is that if we buy Cobble/Badlands, we are then dissuaded from buying Desert/Badlands as well. Whereas if it was Cobble/Badlands and Desert/Grassland, we'd want both.
New prepainted resin Fantasy scenery set - CITY OF ROCKS. Available as 10pcs and 5pcs set and also each piece to purchase as a single piece of terrain.
Full terrain set + an extra 8 walls is my next big terrain purchase. It won't be right away, but I very much look forward to having them for my two different desert 6x4 mats.
