Sorry to interrupt the news on new Space Elves, Emos and Nuns with guns but I just want to announce the latest Kickstarter from Watcorp Designs
Following on from the successful Modurail Kickstater I've created Modutruck - STL files for a range of inter-changable, customisable Civilian and armoured trucks for use in Sci-fi and Post-Apocalyptic wargames
Different cab sections and rear parts can be combined with accessories like plows, ram bars etc to create a huge variety of vehicles with more to be added as stretch goals
All parts can be printed without supports on a standard FDM 3d printer or can be printed on a resin printer for higher quality (hollow versions available to reduce resin use)
100% FUNDED IN 7HRS - FIRST STRETCH GOAL UNLOCKED!!!
This is my second Kickstarter (first delivered to a good reponse, on-time and in full) I also have 100% positive feed back on both my Ebay and ETSY stores where I have been designing and selling 3d prints for a few years.
Project officially launches tomorrow so watch this space for more info
Please take a look - comments and requests welcome!
Those are nice trucks. Someday I'll have a 3-D printer, but until then there are just too many layers of aggravation in these "kickstarters for files" for me, which is a shame. Will they be on Shapeways?
I can understand its annoying if you don't have a 3D printer. Problem with Shapeways is that they are really expensive for the customer whilst paying a tiny amount to supplier of files.
I might add if there is sufficient demand though.
My longer term plan if I get funding from this KS is to invest in more casting equipment so I can do high quality resin casts of these eventually.
Technical is one of the stretch goals that is unlocked and I should have models to show soon.
Tow truck is already one of the designs - if the articulated lorry is unlocked a proper crane is possible. Will be doing wrecking balls and buzz saw option for tow truck too.
Cage truck should be possible to - will have to come back to that once I've done finished the details on the stretch goals.
Here's some WIP of the tow truck - excuse the paint job for now!
Quick update on progress of this kickstarter - added an extra stretch goal at £900. A cargo hauler compatible with the Munitorum shipping crates. A 3d printable crate the same size will also feature in kickstarter.
If there's no objections I'm going to make this a general Watcorp thread, they have a small but very useful and reasonably priced line of terrain that's worth noting.
Apparently my 67mm height platform supports and steps were such a good idea GW pinched them for the Zone Mortalis terrain.....
Been alot of focus on the the 3d printed files the last few months but hopefully willl be able to transition more product over to resin casts for better availability and more weapons and accessories in the 1st half of next year. As always I'm open to requests!
Thanks, I'm working on some resin molds of the cabs and rears so I can speed up the manufacturing process and make them cost effective to sell as finished models.
They are all resin cast 72mm x 72mm sections and are designed to be a cheap way of adding detail to gaming boards where you don't need/want expensive double sided pieces of plastic terrain.
Kinetochore wrote: Thanks, I'm working on some resin molds of the cabs and rears so I can speed up the manufacturing process and make them cost effective to sell as finished models.
Once I have that sorted I can put on store.
Stoked to see that the modutrucks will be available in the store, so many cool designs, can't wait
Working on the moulds as we speak. So far planning on the armoured cab and the tanker and hauler rears for wave 1 release. The majority of the accessories will remain 3d printed and will be out at the same time.
In addition to the physical release of Modutruck I'm looking to release a terrain kickstarter that I've been working on in the background for a lot of last year.
This project differs from other 3d printed terrain kickstarters in that it is designed to allow assembly and disassembly. This allows potentially 1,000s of different setups using relatively few printed parts and is a lot easier for storage rather than having to find somewhere for complete buildings.
Project is due to launch on the 29th of Feb so I'm still open to comments, requests and ideas for more files.
Currently I have large numbers of walls, pillars, roofs, pipework, silos, walkways, gantries designed and tested with cranes, opening doors, weapons and more on the cards.
Good idea - I can do some standalone mini "observation" type towers for 1-2 models.
I think the full squad size towers should be doable with the standard size designs. Will look to add some alternative "leg" type supports and alternative wall pieces possibly.
That hexagonal tower is a cool design...
I'll also add some scale shots with the Dark Uprising and Sector Mech terrain soon
Someone over on the Necromunda forum was asking about scale vs other terrain.
The wall sections are 72x72 (same as original Necromunda bulheads) They are slightly higher than the Zone Mortalis sections but close enough to look like a step. Height is the same as the GW Plasma coil terrain. At 2nd level there is a greater difference between Modu-fab and Zone Mortalis/Sector Mechanicus. Interestingly this is the exact same distance as a single set of Zone Mortalis stairs. I'll also add my own stairs and ramps to bridge this height difference in the KS files.
Also in picture are the first runs of the pipes that can be added to the buildings
Here's a print as 1 guard tower added as requested. Just finishing off the 1st additional terrain style - Enforcer Precinct. Pictures to follow when I've had time to do sexy renders
Been doing some work on some armoured precinct walls for one of the stretch goals (fingers crossed KS gets this far). Used 2 pots of Lead Belcher painting up examples pieces yesterday, will post pics soon.
Quick preview of some of the walls and floors for the Armoured Precinct file set. Currently this is a stretch goal for the incoming Modu-Fab kick starter. The plan is to start with the industrial file set, then add more "themed" expansions like this as the project (hopefully) progresses. Got this Precinct done, a corridor set for more "Space hulky" type environs, as well as a"Meat Processing plant" and Fortress in the works but I'm open to other ideas if project does well.
Hi All,
Only 15 days to the launch of the Modu-Fab 3d printable terrain Kickstarter. All the files for the Industrial Terrain set are completed and I'm working on the stretch goals.
I'm looking for some feedback to deliver these in the order they are requested by the community - now's your chance to influence the direction of the kickstarter
As it stands they are:
1 – Additional pipe runs and connections including smoke stacks
2 – Guard Towers and Walls
3 – Armored Precinct
4 – Corridor Upgrades
5 – Meat Processing Plant 6 –AA guns, Cannons and Big Search Lights for Precinct
7 – Power Plant
8 – Fortress featuring Orbital Cannons, Gates and Missile Silos
I'm looking for feed back on the order of the themed stretch goals 5,7 and 8. Let me know which ones you want 1st!
Any other requests or additional themes please let me know!
An Assault on Precinct 47 board I made using the Precinct 47 files and the guard towers and security fences.
13 days to launch - working on the Ground level pipe, connections and industrial chimneys and smoke stacks for the industrial terrain, as well as more variety of connecting pillars
I have a number of the trucks for sale ready printed on my website (www.watcorpdesigns.com)
The terrain is from the Modufab Kickstarter that is launching on February the 29th. Its only for the digital files rather than the physical product at this point.
New Modufab Kickstarter is officially live as of 5 minutes ago!
3d printable terrain that can be assembled and disassembled for easy storage and different table designs.
No fiddley connection clips required
prints without support
strong stable construction
Here's some examples of the ground level pipes, wall connectors and the pipe join connectors
There are straight connectors, 90 degree connections, T connectors and 4 way connectors. In addition there are various tops and smoke stacks that can be fitted to the connector pieces.
Meat Packing Plant Theme stretch goal has been unlocked!
Examples of the first few wall designs are shown below.
Also included in this theme are a number of "processing equipment Pieces" Renderisors, churning vats, the Disarticulator 5000, as well as conveyors, doors, and work benches among other accessories.
The rooftop weapons and search lights have also been unlocked - ideal for upgrading your Armoured Precinct Theme
The Power Generator Stretch Goal has been unlocked - this will add some more "Hi-Tech" looking walls and floor sections to the terrain, as well as more specialist pieces of equipment and giant cooling towers.
Update on Meat Processing Plant Theme
More files have been completed in the Meat Processing Plant Theme
The Renderiser is completed, as well as a large number of conveyor sections to link different levels and to feed into the other pieces of equipment. I've also done various floors featuring hoppers and grinders. More to follow.
Only £150 off unlocking the Fortress Stretch goal. I'm working on extra stretch goals to follow.
In the meantime here's an example of what you can put together - this is a Corpse Grinder Plant I built using the Meat Processing Plant Theme files from the kickstarter.
Last of the original stretch goals has just been unlocked.
The modular fortress comes in 2 different height styles that can be combined to make double height walls. Walls are also compatible with the other Modu-fab files to allow for even more builds
See below for renders of the fortress gate house and the roof mounted AA guns and Howizters .More on wall weapon options, landing pad and missile silo to come.
Only a few more backers to unlock more fortress interior options and movable lifts.
Last few Hrs of the Kickstarter - great push of support at the death and the movable lifts have been unlocked.
I've been hard at work on the fortress interiors. The first version of the tower is completed and I have 2 options for the upper walls completed.
at work on big defence cannon option for another tower.
Landing pad is laid out and just needs some detailing.
Kickstarter for Modufab was super successful and a massive thanks to everyone who supported. Late Pledges available through the website now (www.watcorpdesigns.com )
Still working through the last of the stretch goals but the vast majority of files are out in the wild.
I'm back again with a another project - this time for army specific "flags" that can be placed onto 40mm objective markers.
The flags can be placed and removed from objectives to show ownership and to track in game actions, as well as giving a cool visual to who owns what objectives.
Project will launch with 13 Flag types, from banners to a variety of Alien Tech and bits.
Also available is an option to build your own custom flags - simply send over a JPEG or SVG of your design and get it on a flag marker!
Make identification of who owns what objectives
Track in game actions for 9th edition
Choose to receive pre supported STLs of the finished designs or physical copies
After all the fun with Objective secured I've started adding to my conversion parts range again.
This time I bring you - the rotatable Chaos Knight Scale Chain Cannon.
Chain cannon barrel is free to rotate around central axis. Features chaotic spikes and symbols and an underslung dragon headed flame thrower. Can be bought with and without the elbow attachment
I've made this available as pre-printed parts or as a print your own STL file pack at my site.
Pre-printed parts - [url]https://www.watcorpdesigns.com/product-page/chaos-knight-scale-rotating-chain-cannon[url]
I'd like to announce the next big project from Watcorp Designs
WOESTALKERS
This a kickstarter launching in February to create home 3D printable 200mm height tripod warmachines (actual height can vary between 185mm and 220ishmm depending on stance)
These are mulitpart models with fully poseable legs and a range of weapon options
Sometimes a bit of subtlety is good. I'm aiming for a more "scary, unknowable malice" type vibe with these but also got some more traditional variants with cockpits and overtly chaos bits on the drawing board depending on interest.
As well as the larger, Knight sized WoeStalkers I've designed some smaller bots termed "Hunters"
These are also mult-part kits with multiple weapon load outs in development. Again, like their larger cousins these have multipart legs for a huge variety of poses in the finished model.
As someone who has bought several of your other kits (Modutruck, your Genestealer vehicles, etc), I wanted to get behind this one. But it just felt like too poor value for money.
I mean, it's a kickstarter, and I'm paying £17 minimum for one 3d printable tank kit or £24 for two? There are patreons all over the place that'll do me tanks plus infantry for a tenner. Even your own website usually prices tank stl kits for under a tenner. If it had been half the price I'd have gone in, but as it was, the value for money (in comparison both to other makers and yourself) just felt too low.
Launching initially as a kickstarter on 29th May offering both physical models and digital, print your own options at a discount to the final release price
Terra Ranger trucks measure 95mm long x 55mm high x 46mm wide.
Options with detailed interiors and a wide range of styles and options
See initial designs below
Let me know if there's any styles you would like to see!
Its that time again when I bother everyone hawking my 3D printable wares!
I'm in the finishing stages of getting everything ready to launch the latest set of 3d printable terrain designs on kickstarter on the 26th of November
Modufab 2 - Gothic Expansion (Modufab 2 ecclesiastical boogaloo was too long a name) is all about expanding on the original Modufab designs by adding in more "Gothic Church, Fancy capital" type building options. The designs will be available in both "traditional 12th century style" as well as "Gothic Sci-fi" designs so the options are huge.
Modufab 2 will use the same connectors as Modufab so is 100% cross compatable.
You wait ages for a desert wastes transport and then...
Love the design and a lot of your previous work including the Gothic train.
It's companies like yours that are seriously testing my stubborn unwillingness to get involved with self 3d printing or tracking down a local firm to do it for me.
Idea/question, is it possible offer as a stretch goal or bonus option a version of the files for smaller scale, like 6-8mm? Likely like fewer pieces or merged parts ect. I know it's stuff experienced printers can do for themselves likely, but it'd be nice for the plebs like me, I don't think I'd get it printed at 28mm would love to print it a bit smaller. On the plus side if its another small stretch goal or bonus it'd be pretty fast to print, might looks better in resin than fdm tho that small. Really great design, the bonus stuff looks great too.
How resin printer friendly is this and other vehicle sets? Are they broken down into components that would fit an Elegoo Mars print bed, or are they one big piece that requires an FDM print bed?
Like the idea of the cage truck - definitely something I can take a look at.
8mm scale trucks are possible - like you say they would have to be merged and resin printed. I'll see how much time I get.
Printing at 28 on a resin printer
All the parts will fit on a Mars/photon build plate. They would need to be hollowed and supported.
My plan is to completed this KS for supportless FDM printing, then remodel files to be thinner, hollow and have more detail for a resin printable follow up.
Spent last couple of days painting up some promo shots of some of the designs and some of the WIP stretch gaols - will upload before launch later today.
After many requests I've expanded the delivery options and pledged to make all the files split, hollowed and pre-supported for resin printing.
As part of this I'll also update the physical pledges to reflect parts will be supplied as FDM printed large parts with resin printed detail parts to improve quality.
In addition the backers so far have unlocked the 1st 3 stretch goals so there's plenty of cool bits on the way.
Already unlocked are the habitat rear that features detailed interior and sliding doors and the Cargo flat bed that just happens to fit the Munitorum Shipping containers. My own shipping containers will also feature as part of the project.
I've added a wheeled cab option as it was a regular request. The cage trailer has been finished, Hab cab interior details completed and a few more stretch goals unlocked.
Also done a bit more painting of the test prints, should have some more cool stuff to share after the weekend!

Oh, I had missed this until now. I guess I'm in, then.
How many of the older sets are also resin-friendly?
Apologies - missed this reply - The Modutruck stuff can be resin printed but was designed for supportless FDM and doesnt have pre-supported resin bits.
I'm going to add the "TERRARANGER" vehicles as an addon pack this week. These were all designed for resin printing and features some cool post apoc type stuff.

The Modutruck Kickstarter page mentions hollow cabs for resin printing. Did that go through? Is the only issue with Modutruck for resin printing that I'd have to do supports and maybe some hollowing myself? Because that's no big deal.
The Terraranger looks interesting too. How compatible are the parts with Modutruck?
The hollow cabs were completed, but you'd have to add your own supports.
All the parts for Modutruck will fit on a Photon/Mars size resin printer, with the exception of the "long rear" flat bed for Munitorum crates and the long trailers for the Articulated lorries.
The geometry of these is pretty simple though so splitting to print wouldn't be hard.
The TerraRanger bits share a common design philosophy to the Modutruck bits, but just scaled to 67% of the size as they were meant to be "landrover" sized 4x4s rather than large trucks.
The axles and base parts are cross compatible and the majority of the parts should fit either with the scaling adjusted
Physical backers should have received questionnaires - I'm currently running all the trailers and hauler basic parts before packing into kits with the optional bits
Wasteland Crawler files are all completed - just working on the Giga Hauler.
Giga Hauler has track or big wheel options - I'll be working on some safety rails and modifying the rear crane system tonight.
I've also been playing with trailer options - see images below.
need a few more bits and bobs like loading ramps, safety rails and obviously a tow hitch!
Hopefully I'll get my Ashwastes Conveyor on saturday so I can look at doing some mods to allow these to work with the official kit, as well as some more bits for the GW kit conveyor
All backers who backed for Digital files can now access the STLs through the My Minifactory Pledge Manager
Even better - anyone who missed the Kickstarter can now use the Pledge Manager to get late backer access to the files, as well as previous projects at an addon discount.
The models are coming off the print bed looking great, but I do have a couple of queries. There are a couple of separate smoke stack/exhaust pipe things that come with the main crawler but I can’t work out where they are supposed to go.
Also, the pins for the wheels. I can’t seem to thread them through the suspension units from the rear. What am I missing?
Have to say I am flabbergasted as to why all the resin files are split in half along various planes
Unfortunately some of the larger parts had to be split to fit onto the small size print area of a photon/mars size printer - ended up being a tricky compromise between best angle for printing and ease of assembly.
If there's any you have particular issue with let me know

The little smoke exhaust bits are the exhausts for the hauler - they fit just under the "deck plate" bit at the rear, just above the tracks (see image) The pins do go into the suspension but it can be a bit of a ballache to get them in. with that in mind I've done a rejig of the suspension design to allow them to print a bit better and to get the pins in more easily.
In both cases I'd recommend putting the pins in before gluing the suspension to the base of the truck!
It’s a jetbike from Bob Naismith Overrunners faction that I have merged with my Van Saar gang. I have another one, and some misprinted ones I painted up as wrecked
Put mine together already, bar one wheel which James is posting me tomorrow! Lovely bit of kit. It's absolutely spot on as a Land Train for my Dvergi army in F28: War Always Changes.
Pah. Received my printed produts and had a thoroughly enjoyable afternoon putting them together without instructions.
Yes I managed to get the tracks on the roof and put the cab on back to front but hey...that's life.
In reality, I had no issues but since reading the guide I discovered I haven't quite got the habitat cab door on properly. It's glued in place rather than being on the slider but that's small beer.
Top fun product by the way. Looking forward to getting all the trailers together along with the armoured carriage next weekend.
Mostly finished painting my Land Train, BTW. Here it is in a game of F28: War Always Changes, earlier this week, just before delivering a squad of Dvergi Ancient Ancestors into battle...
600% funded with 1st 3 stretch goals unlocked already, working away towards the "Containment Breach" stretch already.
I've been busy working on the "Habitation" stretch files - Galley parts are complete and cabins should be finished by tomorrow.
I've also released a Gallowdark to Modufab connection pillar for those looking to expand GWs terrain. Its available on my MMF, cults and thingiverse pages
As project is 1000% funded and all stretch goals are unlocked I've optimistically added a couple of new bonus stretch goals:
- Weapon deck (big guns and loading rigs) and security checkpoints (automated guns and barricades)
- Boarding Torpedo (a small squad size and a larger version)
To wet your appetite here's some pics of some of the alerady unlocked stretch goals painted up.
I'm here to preview my latest works - CHAOS BATTLESHIP - an expansion for the previous HARBINGER OF DAMNATION terrain files.
This is another 3D print your own terrain project - this time to build an evil, chaos themed spacehulk / battleship to play out spaceship assault scenarios/boarding actions etc.
Its 100% compatible with the Harbinger of Damnation set, or can be used as a standalone set of terrain parts.
The files are much more imaginative than the name - check out the preview page on the website for more info - its still early days yet, I have the themes and designs roughed out - just working on the test prints and painting up a promo ship!
Now's the time to let me know if there is anything you'd like to see in your Chaos Warships!
CHAOS BATTLESHIP is a set of modular 3D printable STL files to build an evil starship interior for 28mm wargames.
It is designed to be used as a standalone terrain set or can be combined with our previous HARBINGER OF DAMNATION files set for even more variety and an even big ship to explore!
With the advent of so many "sticky" objective rules for 10th this seems like the perfect opportunity to re-release the Objective Secured! system.
This works off a range of Objective markers numbered 1-6 and a range of army specific flags and markers that can be swapped to show who is in control of a given marker. Aim is to not only allow easy tracking but to look cool too!
I think you're playing with fire there. I know GW iconography is often ripped, and there's a fine line between 'derivative art' and infringement - but that's skating on the wrong side of that fine line. They'd have a legit reason to issue a C&D for it. Tweaking the size of the finger on the fist fractionally or making a raven leg bend at a slightly different angle just isn't sufficient.
Genuinely cheers for comments. I think the majority of the banners give enough of a reference to various legions without being a rip off of GW imagery but an outside view is definitely helpful. I think all the other Iconography is generic enough but you could be correct about the Raven being a bit too close to the mark and worth a re-visit.
Its a tough balancing act between getting to be creative and giving the people what they want!
OBJECTIVE SECURED! 2 fully backed and all rewards delivered.
Files and physical parts will be available from www.watcorpdesigns.com soon for anyone who wants to late pledge.
Quick heads up that there's another project on the way in the next month or so. MODUDROID
I'm hoping that the lack of generic background NPCs for Necromunda and 40K is as annoying for other people as it is for me. I'm starting with MODUDROID, which aims to deliver a range of modular servitor type models.
First wave will focus on "utility" loaders, sweepers, bar servers etc, with some weapon options for "security patrol" or "raid" type scenarios.
There's a wide range of legs and arms and a few different torsos already designed. These are all totally cross compatible so there's a huge range of potential assembly options.
Physical parts will be available as well as the usual pre-supported STL files to print your own
I'm planning the stretch goals so I'm open to other requests.
