Bit of a late reply, I don't really paint anymore - they are stippled with increasingly light paint using a trashed small drybrush. I basecoated in Necron Abyss (midnight/navy blue) followed by, irrc, ultramarine blue, then ice blue and finally glossed. I'm not sure if you could get more depth by increasing the variety of shades of blue, or if that would ruin the effect. The brush needs to be just short of dry, I wipe off most of the paint on the back of my hand rather than paper as it avoids getting it too dry. |
