Background and Description

Major Siege Brisbane painted by Bron

Siege Brisbane is a veteran officer from the days of Vinter the Elder, skilled in siege tactics and powerful in command. With his knowledge of warfare, Siege can push his warjacks and troops to weaken any defense and bring it down. [1]

Special Abilities and Weapons

  • Feat: Breach
    • ARM is reduced for the first damage roll for every enemy model in Siege's control area.
  • Weapons
    • Rocket Cannon (ranged)
      • Ground Pounder: *Attack Place an AOE in RNG in his front arc, then make a ranged attack against each model in the AOE ignoring concealment, elevation, and Stealth.
      • AOE
    • Havoc (melee)
  • Spells
    • Explosivo: Turns target model's next ranged attack into a small AOE.
    • Force Hammer: Offensive spell that slams non-incorporeal models.
    • Foxhole: Place an AOE that protects models in it from blast damage, grants them cover and allows other models to draw LOS through models completely within the AOE.
    • Mage Sight: Place an AOE that allows Battlegroup models to ignore Stealth, forests and clouds for LOS.
    • Rift: Offensive AOE that remains in play for a round as difficult terrain.

Strengths

  • Break Armor: Smash things up with Breach and high powered attacks whether they come from combined fire or a massive melee hammer. Against ARM 16 warcasters, Siege himself can deal dice plus 6 on his first attack.
  • Layered Range Attacks: Protect "soft" anti-infantry or control elements with Foxhole and set up ranged attacks behind them to take advantage of shooting over the Foxhole. Turn high POW guns into high POW AOEs with Explosivo.
  • Explosivo Spam: The low cost of the non-upkeepable Explosivo allows you to spam it to generate multiple high POW or magically affected AOEs.

Weaknesses

  • Accidental Breaching: Breach only affects the first damage roll, so be judicious with the template weapons as even an accidental grenade will trigger the Breach effect and then expire it. Electro Leaps from Storm models will result in the same "wasting" of Breach unless you plan accordingly.
  • Halves Base ARM: Under Breach a model with a shield still benefits from the shield bonus. A target with base ARM 18 and a shield becomes ARM 11 and not ARM 10.

Synergies

  • Hunter: Unfortunately, the hunter and breach both halve the BASE armor of the model, therefore there's no benefit to using both. A hunter can still be effective for hitting downrange, but there's no real synergy here.
  • Sentinel: With Breach the Sentinel's average dice will handle well armored infantry.
  • Lancer: Use the arc node to place force hammer and slam the target. Once it's knocked down activate the feat and auto-hit the model with one of your high POW melee warjacks.
  • Centurion: Put it in a Foxhole and the slow moving Centurion gains DEF 14 against magical attacks and provides LOS to small based ranged elements behind it while it's Polarity Field prevents models from charging it.
  • Defender: Explosivo makes its POW 15 gun have a POW 8 Blast, or the Defender can deal a damage roll +5 against a Khadoran heavy affected by Breach.
  • Ironclad: Inexpensive heavy warjack that can wreak havoc on feat turn. POW 18 vs. half armor.
  • Arcane Tempest Gun Mages: Keep them safe in a Foxhole to deal out their various arcane effects.
  • Black 13th: Being inside Foxhole does not trigger Prowl as it is cover, and not concealment. It does however bump their defense to near unhittable levels, and protects them from blast damage Always a Solid choice, in any Cygnar list though.
  • Long Gunner Infantry: Fire from behind models hidden in a Foxhole and combine fire to create a high POW shot against a target affected by Breach
  • Sword Knights: Break open armor with Flank attacks dealing additional damage under Breach.
  • Trencher Chain Gun Crew: Drop heavy infantry under Breach.
  • Trencher Cannon Crew: Protect the ammo-loader with Foxhole.
  • Rangers: Increase Ground Pounder Attack rolls with Mark Target
  • Gun Mage Captain Adept: Use Explosivo to fire Brutal Shot Bolts. Honestly, not the best choice when other options exist, though you can make it work.
