Right, im a keen tau 40k player and really do love the hammerhead as has done me well in every battle that i have used it in. But i do like the model of the skyray, heres my question do i bother with a skyray? I mean i have seekers on my hammerhead and devilfish already, so it worth the money and points just for basically two extra seekers*?
*(i'll drop them off the hammerhead and devilfich among others things to gain the needed points if i go for a skyray)

Any thoughts and feelings will be much appreciated

Cheers, Elliotminorkid

In my Tau list, I run two hammerheads and a Skyray. As an AV13 SMS/mobile markerlight platform, the 'ray is outstanding. My opponents have learned to pop the Skyray before going after the hammerheads (the loss of a HH is fairly self-contained, while the loss of two mobile markerlights is a loss to anything that could have made use of them). More often than not, I end the game with 2-3 missiles unfired.

In a fully mechanized list, the 'ray certainly has a home. In a mixed list, however, two hammerheads and a unit of broadsides are a very tempting choice.

Yeah i agree the two marker lights is extremely tempting but dont you find the skyray a bit of a 'one trick pony' almost, where as the hammerhead i findmuch more useful, epescially after been kitted out with two seekers.

My 'ray is a two-trick pony, actually. It's laying down a constant barrage of SMS fire while also lending ML support... and also providing mobile cover for suits and 'fish. Call it a three-tricker, then.

That said, I wouldn't field one unless I *already* had two hammerheads in the list.

Starting to see all the benifits and starting to want one but would you then recogmend getting the second hammerhead before i get the skyray?

Depends--do you field broadsides? I'd make sure there are at least two sources of railgun fire before fielding a 'ray.

In my experience, the effectiveness of the Skyray is in direct proportion to the number of other vehicles you're fielding.

Get the Skyray, you can build a Hammerhead from the Skyray kit. Magnetize and swap when you need to.

Yeah i really need to look into broadsides, and the other veichles i field are one 'fish, one 'head and a pihranna.

Never buy a Hammerhead. For the Exact same price you can get the Skyray, which comes with everything the Hammerhead comes with, as well as the additional Skyray sprue.

I wouldn't say that out loud, GW might over hear and raise the price.
