Disclaimer: I'm not claiming that 40k is cheaper than Warmachines, since I don't think it is. This strikeforce is $225, easily gettable for <$200 from discounters. I don't know how it would stack up vs Warmachines though, maybe someone can compare?

Well for $225 that is a 1200 point or so army (I added a lot of upgrades, I don't think anyone would want to take all of the ones I used though). That is playable but still only 2/3rds of an 'average' sized 1850 force.

That's enough. Personally I regard 1850 as "too much", I just wish the Imperial Guard could get that many points for that cost.

We probably get to see more of the "real" Gordon over here in the UK (stuff where he's being himself and cooking, rather than trying to kill people with expletive poisoning) and I doubt he's got enough powder available for the rocket he'd need to light under GW.

To spill over from another thread, another reason GW can't win is that they will basically nerf/gut a Codex and then turn around and sell supplements and/or dataslates that fix things (and break others lol) or add extras that should have been in the Codex from the start. An Ork player at my FLGS is fuming mad over the Codex (not 100% sure why as I don't play Orks or 40k right now for that matter). Someone posted to basically say "Just think of it as a book that costs $100 instead of $50", referring to the upcoming supplement, and I almost literally did a facepalm reading that.

I'm still surprised that the limited edition gimmick actually worked. Limited edition with nothing spectacular about the product and for rules to a game that have a shelf life of about 3-5 years? Yeah, seems fair to pay double for that. May as well get the supplement limited edition copy as well.

There is no supplement limited edition copy for W!G.

It was 'exclusive' to the big box for Orks.

Yep the players are dropping like flies around here. I'm still "collecting" which is why I started in the first place but I'm not buying any books at all because of how low value they've become and while I have the money and desire to have many armies, I'm just not paying these ridiculous prices. I bought the SM Strike Force and Strike Force Ultras because they were actually decent value from a US discounter, but that's about it really. Definitely not buying $37 single pose plastic minis ; /

I agree on the limited edition packages: they should be getting less mileage due to the high number and speed of changes.

Funny though, Diablo III is what cured me of collector editions across all hobbies.

Again, GW is selling things contrary to their claims of being a model company.
If they made a fancy special model only for that "collector's edition" and promise "forever" it is only sold with that kit: then they would buy. It would be something out of resin I would expect and some FW artist slaved to the job... oh, they would flock.

They still think a whole lot of paper and some fancy coins will make all the difference... <sigh>
