All in all and fluff wise, I really hate Slaanesh, just cause I really dont like the high level of immorality driven by Slaanesh. But when it comes to the actual game of 40k, I absolutely despise Khorne. Freaking 35 cultists all with the freaking mark of Khorne is such a pain when it comes to the assault phase and Berserkers are even worse, especially Kharn himself, Kharn, and heck, even Khorne needs to be nerfed bigtime

Slaanesh . Kill for pleasure

Tzeentch, only because I love the other gods, it would be slaanesh if the fluff didn't say he indulges in excess and that in a way all the other gods also indulge in some kind of excess.

Tzeetnch only because I think the models are boring, I like magic and all but just painting magical blue guys, meh.

Khorne is my favorite because I favor directly overpowering opponents versus subtlety (not that Khornate units usually do this but it's a nice sentiment), I play RDW in MTG as my main or go counter burn, always try to have some sort of red in my deck. Also red is my favorite color. It's the least common color of the spectrum and is said to inspire creativity.

Nurgle is second favorite, I just like his toughness capabilities which pair well with Khorneate tactics. Painting pus filled models is kinda okay and allows for lots of modeling ideas from open bellies teeming with masses of flies to flesh pieces falling from the model's revealed skin.

One of these days I plan to paint at least one unit if not an army of Slaaneshi marines, I've been wanting to make crazy looking hot pink marines with neon green trim and all sorts of blue and purple hues for a while now.

What I agree with you on is as far as the Daemonettes and that stuff goes. But, here's my take on Slaanesh: He/she is the god of "Excess experience". It's like that first time skiing down a black diamond slope... If you got an adrenaline rush and had a ton of fun doing it, you want to do it again. The next time you get an adrenaline rush, but not quite as much of one, until eventually, with enough runs down that one slope, it's just like riding down the bunny slope, so you NEED to find another, different black diamond ski slope to get that feeling back again. With Slaanesh's fluff, this is basically them, only it applies to EVERYTHING.

I agree with a lot of the criticisms here that Slaanesh is a bit poorly executed in the fluff and models, but his existence makes sense in the Chaos universe and its hard to deal with those themes without just being pervy and awkward. Especially for nerds like us.

Still, the rationalist in me just can't stand Nurgle. Things that are decomposing become chemically and fundamentally weaker, not stronger. Unless the idea is that it's all zombie "headshots only" rules, I don't really understand the rationale for the bump in survivability of the Great Falling Apart Ones. I feel like they should also have to pay a price in mobility, but that's me.

Yes, Slannesh has horrible models, but as a concept its the most frightening - the other three are generally abhorrant to the vast majority of people, but everyone has desires and passions.

Definitely Tzeentch. Khorne helps you fight better! Nurgle makes you tougher! Slaanesh makes you faster! And then Tzeentch breaks all rules and balance!

I like Slaanesh the best, because it's the only entity/group/army that encourages freedom in 40k

Why would you hate the chaos gods? They're fething awesome! Nurgle has the best doctors known to mankind, Khorne has some killer weapons, Tzeentch has all the latest gadgets, and Slaanesh has the dopest dope I've ever snorted, plus he got me a hooker just last night!

No love for the god of excess? I like the idea of Slaanesh and Nurgle simply because I think the things they offer are some of the things most mere mortals would find themselves enthralled by; the quest for immortality and everliving is promised from Nurgle.
I don't like to think of Slaanesh as a god of pleasure or sex but as a god that promotes excess, whether that be excess in sex, drugs, or rock n' roll; I think that Slaaneesh would be a god most mortals would fall victim to, considering most of normal people today have a vice that they covet even in excess.

Arguing semantics aside my least favorite is probably Khorne, although I like the idea of him as an embodiment of war and violence, I think he's the least interesting from a storytelling perspective, he just seems like a generic evil bad guy that kills things.

Agreed. Slaanesh is the preferred Chaos god of adrenaline junkies everywhere... I had to explain it this way to a buddy of mine who, prior to the conversation/argument felt that Slaanesh was too gimmicky, and didn't get why he/she had the noise marines.

I explained in terms that we both understood: mountain biking. Particularly downhill/freeriding. We talked about hitting some badass trail that really gave him that huge adrenaline rush... Then I asked him what happened the next time he rode that same spot, and the next time and the next... Each time the adrenaline was less and less, until that trail just basically becomes a "routine ride" and no longer provides a thrill.

THAT is what Slaanesh is about. Expanding/ going further in the name of getting that new thrill.

You're only accounting for ONE single portion of the entire aspect of Slaanesh. Slaanesh is the god of Excess. So if you love music, it's more more more, hence noise marines. If you like drugs, its more more more. If you like painting, eating, etc. doesn't matter... as a follower of Slaanesh you'd be after the next great experience of whatever it is that you are wanting more of.

Nurgle is clearly the best and Tzeentch is just about as good. Slaanesh is fun (would be better if they re-released modern versions of 2nd ed noise marines the ones with actual guitars

For the record, in concept, I like Slaanesh the best. It's mostly due to the fact he/she has done exactly what it has set out to do. Make the other gods hate it. Slaanesh is the embodiment of greed. It wants to be more insidious in its plans, stealing thunder from Tzeentch. It wants its followers to feel everything and become stronger for it, making Nurgle redundant. It wants its warriors to be perfect in all aspects of combat, allowing them to be more deadly than any single or multiple Khornate warrior(s). If you are voting for Slaanesh to be the most hated then you have fallen prey to his/her machinations. Congrats. Everyone tends to over simplify Slaanesh as sex drugs and rock and roll. Let me repeat, "Over-Simplify." When you only focus on those, what are you missing... Everything else.

In Slaanesh I see only what our society is slowly becoming. Greed and perversion. In Khorne our tolerance for violence. In Tzeentch our lies and deceit - politicians. In reality I suppose all four represent humanity's failings in some way. It is unfortunate.

I would say slannesh but that is because games workshop has't expanded/focused on the more varied aspects that can come form slannesh (and the all to common association of slannesh as a one dimensional lust factory)

If GW fixed those problems with slannesh (which won't likely ever happen) then I would go with Khorne, who is much to easy to imagine as a one dimensional carnage factory with no other goal (KILL MAIM BURN can get boring...but only after a fair number of hours)

I personally think that the whole "martial pride" thing was born of the World Eaters, pre-fall to Khorne....Some may still remember that pride after 10k years of fighting as Khorne's servants, but I think that most will have fallen completely into the "madness" of their blood lust.

Well, Quorn stands for killing with honour. Although killing without regret does make him stronger, he is the good of pride and honour. He doesn't kill to inflict pain, he kills to... kill, I gues..

They don't stand for weakness, but emotions. And there once was a time when khorne would feel like the weak were unworthy of his wrath, now that's changed a bit by now, but there was a time when khorne wanted to only kill those who could put up a good fight. I'm assuming he still prefers killing someone who can actually fight back, but skulls are skulls. Also, I'm pretty sure he would reward someone who actually killed something scary over some random villager with a pitchfork.

The one that gives his followers a re roll 1's on saves, the re roll any dice and 30+ power dice. If he stopped doing that I would be fine with all of them.

I hate Nurgle from both a fluff and game perspective. I hate how, if I want to play a decent army, I have to play Nurgle. And I just hate the whole "spread the love" thing he's got going. It's BS.

I picked Nurgle. Most of the Nurgle-related models are just gross for grossness' sake. Usually far too much so for my tastes.

I disagree that the chaos gods are "supposed" to be purely internal/subconscious representations.

Slaanesh is the "sensation for sensation's sake".... which definitely implies an action or other outward things. Hence why Slaanesh's "chosen" marines in 40k are the Noise Marines.
Khorne is obviously the blood god, and well... I don't think he needs much explaining.
Yes, Tzeentch is fairly internal, scheming and knowledge and all that.

But, Nurgle simply represents the natural decay of all things. Of course, GW added in that with this decay he brings disease and whatnot. For me, Nurgle is as simple as that, the natural decline and decay of all things.
