Wow Santobell... just wow. Im ashamed i havent found this thread earlier. The amounts of awesome in this tread is astounding. Ive just finished painting up part of a guard army but now im seriously thinking i need strip em all back and turn em into a regiment of the Imperia Australis. Love the Bushmaster you knocked up and the light horse unit which is just beut. I would also vote for replacing our current crap flag with your flag of epicness.

Ive had 2 ideas about rough riders which i think would suit the Imperia Australis very well.
1. I think this would be perfect background/inspiration for a Light horse unit. Its pretty much 40k heroics preformed by Aussies on horses.
2. Someone mentioned using Cold ones as mounts, well how about this? According to your fluff (which is ace by the way) Austalis is a deathworld. Deathworld rough riders should ride fearsome beasts yes? And what is Australia well known for? SPIDERS! Get some Guardsmen, mount them on Goblin Spider riders and you get space Aussies riding pissed off "Funnel Arachs". aka Sydney Funnel webs. No need for explosive lances now when the spider can just bites you insted and you die of poisoning by a horrible atracotoxin.

What do you think? Too out there?

Exalted/Subscribed.

The baddass of the week post is awesome btw.

Thanks for the comendation, I know I'm on the right track when all the aussies who visit the thread go HELL YEAH...

I did at one point think of doing a sargent of a spider and one on a coldone/croc, I ended up going with the traditional look
it just felt more light horse and not just because fo the name, might be fun to get one of those bigas gobo spiders (the giant one)
and do a diorama of the lads takig it down with ropes etc.

With luck my new parts should arrive any day now (or at least start to, the US stuff may take a week or two) so I can back into the swing
of this army.

I'm wondering if I should post the army lists?
Both of them the Common IG and the Tyrants Legion with a whats done what needs to be done thing.

I have a big garage clearout this weekend and will be setting up a propper place to work my madness hopefully with a photo both
for the minatures as well. Should be done in time for the new stuff to get here I'll keep you guys updated as I go.

Heres another HELL YEAH for your collection.

Those ANZAC heads are pretty awesome. Which site did you get them from? Im thinking i may need them for a veteran squad.

The heads are from the Euro mini company Maxmini and pretty damn cheap to be honest.

Linkage:
http://www.maxmini.eu/store/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=12&products_id=132&zenid=04fbc6c94014a91da5beb3b61607bb79

Ah that kid sure gets about. Such conviction, he is destined to be an inquisitor I think.

The Truscale kits are from Chapterhouse Studios (Cheers Nick), awesome sculpts by our fellow Dakkite Hits_the_spot.

Female Guard parts are from the Aussie company Laughing Monk.

The Guard chests (with the pouches) are also a Maxmini item.

I think thats all the 3rd party parts I used hmm oh bases are from Privateer press (and have magnets in them ooooo).

Updates!!!!!!

finally something new to show you guys

Girl Guards!

Don't buy thier cookies... seriously!

These are the first to be made from the female soldiers kit made by Laughing Monk.
Now a quick review for you guys, they are not bad at all, arrived in a timely manner and are whitemetal/lead (which surprised me)
very little clean up was needed and the detail stand fairly well against the plastic parts.

my only real gripe is that most fo the detail is drawn in (as in depressed into) the parts and not raised like it is on the plastic IG
miniatures but really thats because I'm looking for faults.

The heads that came with it are excellent, some fo the best female sculpts I've seen from an independant vendor you get about 6 types
with only a couple of repeats in the (ten man/girl) kit including two squad leader chests and heads. As well as two heads with no hair or ears that fits pretty perfectly
into the GW Cadian helmets you get empty on the IG sprue.

now a couple of pics, it's near midnigth and my lighting is crap so forgive me.

and off topic, I started the big Garrage clean up and came across soemthing I'm really fond of and I thought you guys might like (in conept/reality/or idea).

Here is my deed to a plot of land on the moon and yes it's real (it's a real deed and legal but good luck ever trying to use it as claim in the really real world).

Comes with all my legal documents, mining rights up to aset depth (I forget) and can be used as comercial,Tourism or semi residential. which would be
AWESOME! if I could just get there and oh yeah if I could breathe in space.

Thanks guys it's awesome to hear/read that kind of feed back on a project like this.

12 more TS marines are also on the way (Thanks Nick)!

In the mean time a breif rundown on the next pics below.

It's a landraider, how is a LR in a Tyrant legion army well thats easy add ten nomral marines to the army list and you get the added bonus of taking one (1) and only one Heavy Support choice
from the SM codex. Basically a support version of the Tip of the Claw rule Huron gives (where if you include him you get to take a single elite choice from the marine dex).

not quite finished yet, some clean up and decal and a little detail work to go but the damage and main colours are done as well as the primary highlights.

Again if anyone wants a tut on how to do the damage just say so and I'll post one or Pm one through it's quite effective.

Nice to see an army building up like the Legion.

I was going to suggest, if you take a terminator as an elite choice; they can take a land raider to. You can get 2!

Actually the Spider/Croc thing might be perfect as your brute model for the marauders.

I have two Baneblades coming for the army so I think one LR is probably going to be enough lol,
That said what a great idea. But it's a bit balance tipping, I'm trying to make the army feel more IG than SM sure there are some SM aspects but in terms of on the table
and look, I really want the marines to feel like an addon (even though they are actually calling the shots).

Llamahead wrote:Actually the Spider/Croc thing might be perfect as your brute model for the marauders.

I just need to find a suitable croc miniature that doesn't look like a tourist trinket throwback (which unfortunately seems to be the only type I can find)
I wonder how hard it would be to turn a cold one into a four legged croc?

Miss Dee wrote:So what you gonna build a Sister of Silence base?

Not a bad idea at all Dee ty, oh and I'm heading to the resin guys on Friday to see what can be done about my casting problem thats holding up your pads.
I tried the powder like Blackhand suggested and it made them a bit better but I'm still getting to many blank casts (not air but lack of resin alltogether).
fingers crossed it's an easy fix, worste case I cast them as a solid item by adding the rounded shoulder from a marine kit to the underside of the pad and do a flat cast (which works btw
just makes it fiddly on your end of things).

Rogue Wolves wrote:im likeing the jacketed guardsmen, also how did you get a plot on the moon?

I'm not the worlds best painter by far, so I'm sure other out there could do the mini's far more justice... buuuut on the table all standing together I can't get over how good those
guard look in a group. As for the moon thingy.

linkage: http://www.lunarrepublic.com/

They make an awesome gift for someone who has everything, you can also buy the naming rights to stars. These guys are the offical sellers they won a big court case in the US which effectively legalised
their sale and your ownership of the deeds under US and subsiquently UN propertery laws that said good luck actually trying to enforce your claim, yep thats right it's all real and legit which is
hilarious. There are however some dodge guys also trying to cash in on this gift idea and well you pay and get nothing or simply get a chunk of paper you could have printed in "Word".

It's completely oddball but worth every cent in entertainment value, I'm going to frame mine and hang it on the wall I think, the packs you get come with maps and photo's of your claim
(taken via telescope) your mining deeds (depth and types of mining allowed) the land deed and rights to develope a bunch of other stuff like a membership to the society a DVD with mapping and
other Moon related software.

I'll post a pick of the whole package so you can see.

Capitansolstice wrote:

You want what the moon thingy or the guards lol

link above for the moon thingy
Maxmini for the guards chests.

More Moon stuff...

Whats in the box:
- Deed
- Assignment of deed and rights to the land and sub structure up set depth
- Citizenship certificate including ID which is hidden from view)
- The lunar settlement initiative documents (basically a document outlining a method for privatized business and people to acheive a perminant base on the moon faster than the governments
(it's a little fanatical but a good read and probably not so silly with enough money).
- The map outlining my property
- A breif on the location of my property
- Info on the Kennedy 2 explorer which is a privately funded space program
- Mapping disc
- A stamp with the Lunar Society on it (the welcome to the moon thingy)

So there you go nice little bundle of funa nd laughs.

Ok back OT for me just thought you'd find it fun and interesting.

The cost changes depending on size of plot type and location soem as cheap as 50 buck (yes 50 bucks) where as others are more costly
you would have to check and see what's selling at the time, as far as I know where I purchased was limited which cost a bit more (can't remember how much
to be frank it was a couple of years ago I did it).

I do know you can buy packs of just the deeds as well which reduce the costs as well.

Ok so back on topic with a new Update!

Chimera MkII the Occa Transport.
This is a combination kit from a GW original 1995 Hellhound kit and the Chapterhouse wheeled Chimera kit.
First up a quick review fo the wheeled kit.

1. it's detailed nicely
2. a little bit messy out of the mold (though I'm told this is fixed on the newer casts)
3. does not quite fit right and required a bit of tweaking as a few angles don't mtachup.
4. Painted it looks like a dream.

Score out of 10:
7

Why?
The end look is fantastic which in my oppinion is what counts overall, and as with all resin kits I expected to have to be creative to get the job done so I did not remove
too many marks for that. (nothing a little hot water couldn't fix).

Pics!

The mismatching front looks a bit odd in greys but painted it fits the original front end offering the same stepped style across the kit.

More pics!

The army so far:

Close ups:

Let me know what base you like more the snow look or the sand look btw!

CC arms! yes he now has to sets of arms cannons or fists.

I have a remake project about to start with this army as well, the Bushmaster tank is getting a refit! The fine fellows at Showcase Models Australia have finally been given the green light
by the defence dept to release the scaled kit (which is far more detailed then my home built jobby). once it arrives I will be doning a breakdown of the old kit and a rebuild using the
real thing which should be heaps of fun.

Here is a link to the kit!
http://www.showcasemodelsaustralia.com.au/product/imv-bushmaster
I will also be getting a bunch of the Aussie decal sheets as well to add even more Aussiefication to the units and vehicles.

Wheeled Chimera is looking ace. I'm looking forward to seeing the new bushmaster build. For the Crocs if the sculpts good enough ignore the colours as you'll repaint it anyway although good luck with looking.

The kits a little bit off as I said before but in the end it all works out, it's resin so there is nothign a tub of hot water and a set of files can't fix.

I'm trying to build several arm options for the Dread, I also noticed forgeworld just released an autocannon arm for it so I may just end up getting those and slightly extending the barrels.
as for the CC arms yeah they did turn out pretty nice (for converted normal dread arms) I also want to do a Liby Contemptor dread but I heard a rumor there may be one being made by FW so I'm holding off.

Some arms fantastic some not so good, the lowered arms liek in the runnign poses are a perfect fit but the aiming style arms need some help but barely it's a pretty well thought out kit.

Will do and sorry for the delay in my replys guys I've been falt out at home getting Christmas ready and kids school plays etc. What I couldn't believe is that after searchign for ages I found only one other Aussie army online and it was just repainted Cadians and I always wanted an excuse to do a IG army and wantign something unique at the same time so it all just fit in the IA release of the Tyrant list and the Aussification of the unitsa nd mini's.

Llamahead wrote:Wheeled Chimera is looking ace. I'm looking forward to seeing the new bushmaster build. For the Crocs if the sculpts good enough ignore the colours as you'll repaint it anyway although good luck with looking.

Cheers matey! you and me both hehe, The model is ordered but it's delayed due to overwhelming popularity of the kit at christmas (lots of people have been waiting for it's release). but it shouldn't be too long before I see it though I'm pretty sure it will be after Christmas.

Snrub wrote:Ok not only am i stealing this idea for an Aussie inspired army (love the flag by the way) im also gonna have to get my hands on a few of those wheeled Chimeras. Keep up the good work Santobell.

Chymera kits are from Chapterhouse Studios and good value at that, btw Steal away and make a thread I'll be one of if not the first poster there it's like my 40K Skaven Thread I hope that what I do inspires poeple to roll with it and make something I never could!

Update:
No pics but the last of the TS amrines and IG parts has arrived now it's glue time... ah crap I have to hit the stores I'm out of Undercoat paint.
