The worse thing I can think of is: I had just finished painting my warboss, complete with a head spiked on the bosspole. My wife came by and I asked what she thought and she replied: "Looks good but isnt the guys neck a little long and thin?"

My boyfriend bought me miniatures that looked more suitable for woman/girl grrr. But fortunately he discovered painting warhammers was more to my liking

I think damaging someone else's minis is more than just your normal property destruction. Not only you invested money on them, but also time and effort. Sorta like painting or drawing something, then someone else would take a crayon and draw random lines on top of it. You poured a part of yourself on that thing, and it's more offensive (to me, at least) that they would destroy something that you value and spent time to make.

Never had a model-related horror story, mostly because the people in my life knew that I spend time and effort on my minis (plus, it also earns a portion of my income via commissions, aside from graphic illustrations and design). Even my little nephews (ages 3 and 6) would ask my permission first before they touch the minis, and sometimes I let them play with the just-primed models. And even when playing with them they're very careful. Love them to bits.

Although I had an incident during high school when I drew something and a classmate of mine (using a pen, mind you) thought it would be funny to put nipples on said drawing. Badly drawn ones. If I remember correctly I hit him in the face with a hardbound book and it would've ended badly (on my part, since he's a LOT bigger and I was small and skinny) if my friends didn't intervene. I never forgave him.

For me, destroying artwork deliberately is one of those unforgivable things. Thankfully, all the people close to me are either artists themselves or that they understand that painted miniatures, drawings and canvas paintings are things you just. don't. destroy.

Yeah, my past girlfriends have never been THAT insane to destroy any works that I've done like that. My last girlfriend was even really encouraging about my hobby - she refused to buy me models, but she went to every painting competition I entered, drove me to a few tournaments since I lacked a car, and even made me a custom set of sculpting tools (complete with a themed, hand-made case) to encourage me sculpting.

That said, my most recent ex-girlfriends older brother (who I was friends with for years before we dated) once grabbed one of my Kroot and shoved it in his mouth, and began to chew. Mind you, he was probably 18 or so at the time, and I was 17. It's something my friends still talk about, and I give him a hard time about it every time I see him.


EDIT - I *WISH* he had shoved it into his mind. That would be SO COOL!

The worst I have had happen was when one of my friends accidently knocked my proxy Marbo off the table during a game, and his hand and head broke off. I was able to easily re-glue the head and hand, so no harm was done.

...Sorry, couldn't resist. In regards to myself, though, never had an ex damage them, but I've had plenty tease me about it. Also, mother has a bad eye for which bits are actually still usable and tends to "help" by tossing em into the trash. SOMETIMES I get there in time to save them.

No fisical damage, just sociological damage. Wife likes to look over my shoulder why I paint my orks and call them and me cuite. Me I don't mind but how can you expect your orks to go out and krump some umies skulls after they've been called cuite.

Any time my friend did anything with his Chaos Lord I'd say 'oh how adorable.'

Worst my friends have done, nothing.

Worst I have done, intentionally break models in various places when people ask "What happens if they break?". It gets me a lot of wacky reactions. Mostly I keep it to gaunts and warriors, but if people get picky I'll pull a big bug apart. After regluing and spot repairing the paint not a single person has been able to pick the broken ones out from the rest so it must not be so bad.

Oddly my two kids haven't broken anything they know not to mess with daddies toys.

The worst thing my wife ever did was buy me more stuff! i think she does it to keep me quiet...

other then that my cat used to chew anything she could. she'd casually wander over, sniff, then bite the top of whatever victim she'd picked that day.
it got so that if i wanted stuff out i had to keep the flea pump spray bottle around, she HATED that thing and the mere smell would have her running for the stairs. if she got close to a model i'd just plonk the bottle down in front of her.
she did jump up onto a table and onto a painting tray thus catapulting lots of men-at-arms into the air along with many paints.
thankfully most survived.

she was an odd cat. loved to steal pork chops...

I remember something one of my friends did to his own models (it counts!). He played tyranids, but only because we (his friends) all played, and sprayed them all with silver spraypaint (his zoanthrope had paint so thick most of the details weren't visible). We all thought that was ridiculous, so we gave one of them a proper paint job. Which he promptly sprayed silver.

MY Wife is happy with my minis as its a hobby thats stops me annoying the crap out of her....however the proviso is that if I cheat on her she is going to ritually destroy every single one I own....

Well this isn't me personally but my friend has had an awful time of warhammer 40k....

He had just recieved a tau manta as a group present, all his family and friends including me and....

He had to store it in the kitchen as it's vast size and he built it, painted it and it looked fantastic...

His mum decided dinner would be so much better in the kitchen for christmas so she picked it up by the wings...

It snapped both wings and the body fell to the floor and it smashed into a hundred pieces...

She went around the local gaming store and persuaded some guys to help rebuild the manta while he was away at his grans across the borders in England....

He came back and noticed the crack down the middle as soon as he came back and the 5 guys trying to hide from sight...

She burst into tears and had a nervous breakdown, they both did....

the end of his warhammer life...

He quit the same day, christmas day, most of his presents were tau stuff...

Woke up to little brother and sister "painting" in my room, and by painting they meant mixing all of my paints together and dumping them on the floor. 60 bucks in paint later I was back to normal.

My friend was playing around with some of Firestorm Armada Models, waving them in the air making laser noises (pew pew pew) dropped one of them... well......

Not exactly what my girlfriend did to one of my models but what she did to my pride, soul, and what little confidence I had. She's an excellent painter and tried to get her to paint some of my boxes and boxes of unpainted minis, cheap labor, not that she's cheap (covering all my grounds)

Told me she wouldn't and would be a waste of time. Play with them for a few weeks or months then I would be on to something else that is new and shiny.

She's technically not wrong. But she could have been nice about it.

My ex-wife and I had an amicable divorce. However, it was very touch and go there for a little while. Somehow, in the process of me moving out, 3 squads of Hormagaunts, 32 count each, fully painted, disappeared. I can't really blame it on her per se (no proof) but I would love ot have my gaunts back.

Pffft screw gfs n friends my husky puppy decided he would chew on 2 brand new assembled and 90% painted mk Iv marines today. One isn't so bad and just th back pack and shoulder pad have chips/teeth mark (battle damage hahha) but the other is missing completely, I hope he didn't eat it lol all though I'm sure it'll turn up somewhere in the yard. They Wer ontop of my table aswell so I have no idea how he manage to get them. Moral of the story, put everything away if not in use! Lesson learned.

The worst fall I've ever had was self inflicted. I accidentally knocked my metal Ghazghkull model off a table edge, which hit the ground like a brick and shattered back into every piece it came in. Nothing too major, just some chipped paint I had to touch up and some annoyances trying to get it glued together again.

Worst thing my girl ever did with my models was beat the ever-loving crap out of me with my own Orks. It was Annihilation, 7 - 3 by the start of turn five.

I think the main enemy of my miniatures collection would be my cat, she once bit the head of my archon and sent my favorite kabalite crashing to the floor (hooray for bouncing plastic minis).

I have cold-sided my girlfriend when she wants to go to bed and I'm painting at my desk in the same room.

She'd be justified to destroy my stuff out of malice/jealousy.

I'm my own worst enemy.

In my very early teenage years when I decided to start an army other than SM's I picked IG. I saved up for months until I could afford to buy a fairly basic set of Cadian troops and heavy weapons. It went well and I spent many hours painting a very difficult camo scheme on everything I owned. Shortly after I got my first tank I had a school project that ended up being very messy. I was about to play my brand new, never before played army against my best friend at the time and I put it in a paper bag next to my workstation because I had no money to buy anything more formal. Being the mother she is, my mom insisted that I go outside and be social for the next few days and she'd clean up my project for me. You can tell where this is going, and needless to say when I came back a few days later I was very upset to discover she had used the paper bag my army was in as a trashcan and had already thrown it away.
I literally sat at my desk staring at what had once been my army I had saved so many months of allowance money and like the rest of you, spent hours of time painting and assembling. Being the age that I was, I had no chance of getting a job to replace what I had lost. I didn't throw a fit, I was just really sad for the loss and when my mom learned what she had done she felt terrible. She bought me a new army of equal value, 200 US dollars worth of Oldcrons (which had just come out) and I tried again to rebuild a new force. Except, Necrons just aren't the IG and I never really got into it. (they became my dark years of war gaming and I pursued different interests) Well, I ended up making a new friend years later who wasn't very well off, and I now was able to make my own money. Figuring that I was just about fed up with the Necrons, I taught him how to play, donated my paints, brushes, and entire army to him. I concluded that I'd probably never play Warhammer again. Soon after, digging through a basement closet I discovered the old paper bag filled with my IG army. My mom said that she had forgotten about it, but when I dug it out, it still had flakes of the school project I had worked on years earlier.

Now, I'm really glad I never got angry with my mother about this, because I stripped the IG down and remade them into the best work I have ever done. If my trilogy is ever published in the BL, you heard it from the author himself, I owe it all to my own mother.

My girlfriend has yet to see any 40k stuff.

Protip - always try to be as quick as you can, girls really appreciate that.

A cush piece of tail which I still make the rounds with knocked over a box of 105 points of warmachine commissioned pieces that were wrapped and ready to shipped within half an hour's time. Thankfully, the majority of the pieces were plastic but, I had to spend another 5 hours fixing 3 war casters.

I'll start this off with what my girlfriend did to my Forgeworld Venerable Dreadnaught after a heated exchange involving me painting. I'd just about finished painting it up, had attatched the banner etc and working on a few last details and had left it to dry while eating dinner. Later that night we had a 'disagreement' about something and ended up dangerously close to my paint station, basically I started to put it away and as I had it in my hand she swiped it and it went flying to the floor. Result = Snapped Banner, 1 Part of the Wing broken, Power Claw arm and Claws broken off and Finally the Dread had been broken in 1/2 between the torso and legs. In the end we patched things up and I fixed him up as good as possible and learnt to stay clear of the paint station area during arguments.

Would like to hear your stories too guys.

The worst that I have seen was at Adepticon this year. A guy had let his friend borrow a fully painted warhound titan for the gladiator event. *Apparently a passerby* knocked the titan off the table, with no apology, and no offer to fix/compensate for the damage. Neither the guy who owned the titan or the guy who had borrowed it tried to force the issue.
Had this been my titan, or had I been the guy that borrowed it and used it in the game, the other guy would have
A: bought a new titan and paid to have it painted
B: donated his army to pay for the replacement
C: met me in the parking lot, gotten thrashed, and then both A and B

Never had anything done to mine in anger, a few accidental drops with easy to fix dammage.

However, I once dropped a box of minnis down the stairs. Contents: Storm Raven, 8 dreadnoughts. :S Cue girly scream. Fortunatly only damage was a broken flying base, a couple of broken banners on the dreads and a few broken blood talons. I cannot describe how relieved I was considering i had winced at every step it bounced off of on the way down.

A battle company of RT01 beakies
A battle company of mixed 2nd and 3rd edition marines
Approx 30x marine vehicle accessory sprues

Well, as a result of my mother (and my being sixteen) I don't think many people have access to the models that I have, other than me and mine.

Once, however I decided to throw out some old puzzles to make room for some models on a shelf (the gaming room is bursting at the seams with junk, but I'm not allowed to throw anything out of course.) When my mother found out, we had a screaming match (also quite common in our household) followed by her throwing a diorama of a damaged tiger tank into a window, shattering it.

Ironically, the damaged tiger tank was... undamaged... but the window certainly wasn't. I also had to pay for it to be replaced, for what that's worth.

that's not too bad, my iPad has seen far worse punishment than my models have.

I hear you about Ipads and laptops etc Scipio, I went away for the weekend and came home to find my $2,800 laptop on the floor behind a couch and not working. Funny that no one knew what happened to it. $700 later it was working again.

Yes, some women do have a revenge centre in their brain and they can do A WHOLE LOT WORSE than keep/steal/break/sell your mini's. There are guys out there who haven't seen their kids in years because they were kidnapped off them by their ex and the state helped them do it.

So what you're telling me is she broke the window and then MADE YOU pay for it.

You guys have some pretty frikkin' unhealthy relationships if your wives/girlfriends are sabotaging your hobbies/ throwing away minis/etc.

My fiancee just got me a $50 gift certificate to GW for my 30th b-day. I have a whole section of the office for my hobby stuff, and that's only because the room in the basement just to be my "man-cave" isn't done yet. We also LARP together, and in a month are getting married in a medieval-themed wedding.

Seriously, if any of you have significant others who think they can dictate what you can do with a healthy hobby like you are somehow under their thumb, you need to rethink why you are with them.

I showed my Girlfriend GW models.

She told me she's seen these before. Turns out 2 of her 3 previous flames played. I played both of them.

The question is: Did they have bigger "armies" and does this make you feel inadquate?

One of my ex's once got so angry she backhanded one of my Warmachine 'jacks. The solid-metal Mercenaries Mangler. She cut her hand open on the mace/shoulderblade, doing little damage to the model aside from covering it with blood. One super-sized band-aid later, and she leant to keep away from the heavy ones and only smack the little plastic ones...

Well in my usual attempt to seduce women I was showing off some of my award winning painted empire. She was looking over some of my lighter models as I got out my old school steam tank. Now it should be known that I love my steam tank. I refuse to play fantasy games where it becomes impossible to field it and it will always be the center piece of my glorious empire.

anywho I passed it to her and I guess she misjudged the weight of the behmoth metal tank and dropped it. Well the tank survived pretty well but the spearmen regiment that it landed on didn't fair so well. To make matters worse the tank rolled through them then fell off the coffee table that they were on and on to my equally metal greatswords. I could only blink at the tragedy! The funny part was that I was thinking less of the damage and more of how I would fight my opponent the next day without my solid spearmen-greatsword right flank!

The nice thing was that she offered to help put them back together (after realizing that I couldn't simply "throw them out"). Superglue got revenge for me.

Well thats the problem. Guys just tend to put up with it and shrug it off. They don't think "I need to get out of this now". Meanwhile it has become fashionable in media to belittle men, encourage women to look down on them, etc, etc. Don't believe me? Just read what horrible advice those glossy magazines give. They'll tell you that working late is a sign of cheating and then give advice on how to get revenge against the poor sod who was probably just working late.

My girlfriend hasn't done anything to my toys, purely because I let her know if she does attempt to break it she'll be dragged, by her ankles down the road until she realises, that's not how you play with them...

For my parents, apart from hoovering up a few bits and breaking a couple here and there, nothing too bad Judging by some of these stories I'd say I got off lucky

I think a dog toy got tossed at my hobby workbench once, by accident...

Erm......how do i put this. In the UK tossing might mean something different to what you might want Balance?

Toss and jerk can mean the same thing here.

I had just finished up an Ork Deffdread for a painting competition that was coming up, My girlfriend at the time asked to see it. after she picked it up she was looking at it, it slipped out of her hands and hit the floor hard....All of the exhausts snapped off, and 2 arms.

I managed to fix it. Thankfully Ork vehicles can take a beating and look like it's meant to look like that. And the upside of the story was I won the competition as well

We live with several cats and dogs... I had been working on a terrorgeist and had left it out on the table to dry. BUT i forgot to close the door to the room properly. The cat knocked it to the floor. then the dog decided it would make a fun new chewtoy. It was about 80% done. had to buy a new mini and start over.

A friend of mine came over with his daughter who was eating cotton candy. I was just chilling with my mate and let the kid look around in the flat. After they left all the models on my desk were shiny and sticky from her cotton candy hands, and the gak won't go away. Like gloss varnish with tiny bits of sugar. Not great, is it.

I heard this from my friend the other day...

His fiance was mad at him for something and while holding their child, she picked up a Deathwing terminator (painted by a Golden Damon winner) and did the Bic lighter flick with her thumb. I cringed and asked "WTF is wrong with her?", as we share the same painter friend and both play Deathwing. He was livid. I said resolve that situation and discuss that the "dollies" are off limits in arguements. He then revealed his Chaplain and a squad and a half of terminators are MIA. I gently wept inside...

I sold an award winning 3rd Ed. 40K DE army to an acquaintance, who already had a big force. Raiders, full Reaver squad, full Scourges, Rampage conversion, it had the works. He hadn't fully paid me after a couple months so I tracked him down and got him to agree to sell them back. I knew something was up when he answered the door, kind of sheepish, and said 'I got some bad news man'.

His girlfriend/wife/whatever and he had gotten into a huge fight, and she, like an enraged Imperator Titan, literally stomped on his DE army AND the one I had sold him. I'm not sure I even said anything. I just took my money, and the shattered remnants of both our DE armies and left. It wasn't pretty... all those fragile, thin DE...

I had a Be'lakor model sitting on my display stand that I had painted for a contest at my FLGS that had actually won second prize....my dog bumped the stand and it came crashing down, breaking off the tail and one of the wings..I had to put the whole thing back together and it never quite looked the same

Also, I had a friend do that in the car with my brother, who had just finished making a small stone well out of clay - it was painted, flocked, etc. And the guy goes "Oh WHOOPS!" exaggeratedly but then goes "Oh man!" and starts laughing hysterically, as he had ACTUALLY dropped it out the window onto the road. We pulled over and managed to grab the piece before it was run over, but it was chipped badly and needed some repair work.

My cat knocked a lonely Termagant on the floor. My wife (fiancee at the time) accidentally stepped on it. She gave it to me, said she was sorry. I assured her that it really wasn't a big deal, that I had dozens of these little guys, and that it was probably the cat's fault anyway.

I tossed him, but she picked him out of the garbage secretly, brought it to my FLGS, and bought me a box of termagants.

I think I'll keep her around....

Though I do have a horrible story about a model getting broken.

While playing a game at my flgs, My heavily converted flying Hive tyrant was broken into pieces. How? well my opponent was not the most fit, he was about as wide as he was tall. He had to sit most of the game. He also had to lean on the table to help himself stand, lean on a table that was flimsy enough on its' own. The Tyrant was near the edge, he leaned on the table and over goes the custom model, onto the floor with a horrible crash.
I held in my anger and just started picking up the pieces (he did not help)

The worst insult, however, was not the fact that he broke my model. but the fact that I got no apology from the guy, a fellow gamer, who knows the prices of these models. He actually had the audacity to blame me for the break. He said the base was to flimsy and the model was badly balanced. (yes it was topheavy, but that is no excuse for knocking a model down)

So I held my anger, continued the game, and as retribution, I tabled him on turn two.

Ok, Screw getting a Girl friend. If this is what they do than i dont want one.

As punishment you should have put his HQ across the room and made him walk over there to get it. That will teach him.

When Necromunda came out I bought two gangs for myself, Orlock and Cawdor. Once we started playing I used the Orlocks and told my nephew he could use my Cawdor gang. I expelicitely told him that they were my models, he could use, and that they were not to leave my presence. After a few weeks of playing I let him take tht models home, so he could play when I wasn't there and so he could paint them at his leasure. When the campaign ended, I asked him for my models back and he didn't have them. He had sold them at half retail at the FLGS becuase "he" wasn't using them anymore.

Rather recent, took a friend out fishing and as we launched my boat he drove the truck up to park it. I didn't realize that he was a bit "hammered" but somehow while he was out of my sight he managed to cause a "spill" of some of my better painted fantasy models. Griffon, 2 Great Eagles, Dragon and riders all got smashed to peices. As of now I still can't find some of the peices, and I've about given them up for loss, which means that one of the eagles is no longer even usable.

He's not allowed to drink when we go do things like that anymore...

Don't mean too insult her, but she tried too paint one >.>.....

My girlfriend at the time was pissed off that an ex-girlfriend had posted on my livejournal (the facebook of 2002.) She discovered this while I was at work. When I got home she was gone but I found one of my models broken on the floor.

A lone spore mine broken off its base.

I fixed it, painted Tyranids for 2 hours and then she came home and apologized. Win-win.

I hope you guys are dating super models or something. Some of these stories are just crazy.

Ive had freinds who's bfs/fiance would break tier laptops- like the guy almost cracked them in half. One had her Warcraft account hacked/stolen. A broken windshield, slashed tires. Grafitti on a house. And those are the cases when they just attacked objects and not a person.

As many have mentioned, its best to find someone that enjoys, or at least supports the things you enjoy. A little respect goes a long way

Lately I've been going through brushes like hell. The bristles have fallen off after just a few painting sessions. I've been thinking that maybe I haven't been treating them properly. I was even about to start a thread here on Dakka about it.

Now I hadn't changed water in the pot for a while so I couldn't "see through" it. When I finally went to change water I found that my girlfriend had put razors in the pot, thus the ruined brushes.

Lesson learned, hehe.

Cotton candy is soluble in warm water with a little detergent. Shouldn't harm the acrylic paints (unless you used 'poster' acrylic paints which AREN'T waterproof when dry) and the gak should come right off.

I have nieces who did this to mine.

No crazy stories about girlfriends/wife and gaming stuff. ALL of mine have known I was a gamer from the get-go and didn't see the need to change me or damage my stuff in juvenile displays.

Didn't happen to me, but sure benefited me. I got a call from someone at a storage place returning my call about looking for warhammer models. Apparently some guy's girlfriend was so fed up with his spending on models that she closed his storage space with alot of his models and told the manager that he could keep trash everything inside. He noticed the Models had some value and found me. Needless to say I pocketed about $800 of models for around $50.

Worst thing that has happened to me was my fault. I was heading over to a friends place to work on some models together. i had a Kit Dakka jet, a Stormtalon i had nearly finished converting into an omni jet (usable as all 3) and the trukk im entering in Arakasi's rally. The Stormtalon just jammed the tail further into the plasticard i had used to make it long enough to count as a jet. the jet just had 2 gun barrels detach. the trukk? 8 pieces. still have not completely reattached everything.

the worst my wife has done is drop a bundle of the sunday paper on the open box containing my vehicles. non of my dreads, Kans, or bikes have an exhaust pipe anymore.

I magnetized some figures to stick to a metal movements tray.
I also forgot that i had put a magnetic catflap in the front door and the girlfriends cat had a nice new magnetic key on her collar!
3 Space Marines where last seen heading into the undergrowth attached to said cat collar!

Nothing bad has happened to me yet ... but my wife has described what she might do if i do something really stupid in our marraige ... so only slightly scared at this point.

He never touched my stuff again. I never had my bluff called.

My wife knows not to touch my stuff.
I know not to piss her off because she gets mean when she gets mad.

The worst thing she has done was to MAKE ME BUY the fortified manorhouse kit AND PAINT IT FOR HER, and then some models to go into it like a proper doll's house.

I've got a hard life, I know.

My 'ex' wife decided one day on her hormonal time of the month, to throw out my load of Dark Eldar that i had painted and they were out of the way from the kids and her, i found the broken Dark Eldar and buried them with a grave stone, the 'Ex' is buried next to them in an unmarked grave.

Only horror story I have, me and my mum were having an argument, and she decided that a box that held my CSM should go flying, she threw it as hard as she could against the wall down the hallway, the landraider flew out halfway down the hall way and bounced off both the wall and floor, damage done, some spikes broken. Seriously AV14 works.

P.S. no shes not psycho per se, I think it was her time of month and happens to be a ginger.........any guys who have had a redhead relation know, DON'T PISS THEM OFF!!!!

(mind you we were 1 week into our relationship) i said i would marry her when i finished painting my orks. 265 models.... about 3 a week done..take forever with 1-2 week breaks. She paints all of them pink. [see forum posting rules] WAGHH detected. Wants me to marry her on the spot. -_- i say i didn't paint them. She gets mad and leaves and breaks up with me. I laugh.

The worst thing my wife ever did with my models was use them to table me in a game I quite smugly predicted an easy victory in...

Lol my wife does that too. She keeps refusing to be a gamer but anytime I talk here into playing something she usually wrecks house.

On a side note i never promise marriage in one week. I have more nuts and bolts then needed to build a stompa.
I was like i wanna screw her, but i don't wanna merry her, so i decided i would tell her something to get in there. Sure when i finish painting something that i be lucky if i finished in it in 4 years. She painted it all.. I go wtf.. my orks have gay pride. She breaks up with me i laugh for a good three hours over my orks. (it was just spray paint) I move on to my current fiancé who love Nid's and paints them and wants to play.

Worst model damage done in our place: After a long and very careful move into a new apartment, I was taking out my g/f's Eldar Army from a case in a box and inspecting for any damage that might have been done. In this process I was taking them out and putting them into squads on the 3rd shelf of a book shelf. I took a small step back to look at them all when they were up there (a "medium" sized Eldar army complete with very well done Avatar and two stunning wave serps) when our cat thought it be good time to attempt a super leap accross the room from a desk...and onto this shelf, I watched in horror as this army that she had spent so much time on painting came crashing down all once onto a brand new tile floor....I'm still helping with the rebuidling effort, some of these Avengers broke in ways I didn't know they could break! O, and there was also the time my drunk roomate was angry I had tabled his Orks with my new IG army the night prior and took pot shots at them with an Air Soft gun when I wasn't home.

2nd Edition. I was using a weapons and Warriors, working, catapult and those pointy headed 2E Box set Grots. Idiot player grabs catapult, loads gretchin into it and points it at another player.

Before I can finish the sentence "MIke, you're going to going to shoot in the eye", he shoots the gretchin directly into the other player eye, a good 5 feet away I might add.

I feel sorry for you all. I try not to be in any type of cahoots with any crazy folk.

As the girlfiend, the worst thing I can say I've done to him is that many years ago, after I had just witnessed this strange game played between him and his father involving these small plastic and metal guys (some spacey lookin guys with long square guns and macha suits vs some ww1/ww2 looking guys) and he was surfing this website of the company that makes these guys. I got curious and was watching over his shoulder. I saw something that made me really excited, a really cute dinosaur dragon like alien creature, and pointed at the screen and said "I'll play only if I can play these guys."

My nids are now the largest force we own. Oh and I guess you could count some minor jedi-mind-trickery that ended up with him giving me his old grey knights for my up coming draigowing.


As for my own horror stories? They're mostly cat related. Once my aforementioned boyfriend asked me to paint up some of his flames of war infantry while he was at work. So I decided to do my painting on the kitchen table, because it was right next to the window and it was sunny. I had about 6 or so bases done with guys painted and glued and I had been mixing my paint on a paper plate. Our big white cat comes over and decides my work area is a comfy spot to lay down. Right on top of those bases AND the mixed paint. The bases and dudes were fine, but I spent the next half hour or so chasing him around the house with a wet paper towel to get the green pain off his butt.

We also have a young longcat-in-training. He's recently discovered that he can reach the things on my work "table" (not the kitchen table, but my painting board on top of a stool in our room) and so while I'm painting whatever it is I'm painting at the time, he'll grab whatever he can get his paws on that's at the edge of the board and toss it on the carpet. Pots, models, brushes, tools whatever. He's broken one of my aforementioned boyfriend's death company that I had been working on and snapped him in half. He's also grabbed one of my metal grey knight termies that was primed and ready, and nearly broke an arm off at the shoulder from the drop. Now there's a huge crack in the primer, but luckily the arm didn't detach. He only does this when I'm actively doing something like painting. He trys to be so so helpful. He's the reason I use bottles of water as paint water, and make sure that everything spillable that I'm not directly using is capped off and closed tight.

My last story is my own stupidity involving me dropping my nearly finished model that I've been working on for days right into my bowl of mixed paint. On three. Seperate. Occasions. Three different models. Luckily, a quick rinse and an overnight dry and they were good and could resume painting the following night.

So worst thing that has ever happened to me is up for grabs, a few years back I took a break from the hobby because of school, and my brothers decided to throw out the cases (old gun cases my dad gave me) with about 10000 points of burgle space marines that I got for the most part off ebay with my CPU cough hard earned allowance . The July other event I would rank up there would be when I was returning from a local RTT with my best friend with the first time I put my fully painted BA army on the table that I had slaved for two months over to get painted for this event. Well returning home victorious I went to the bed of his truck to retrieve the models, and he thought I had completed this deed and started to drive off, and into the street and the bed of his truck my case ripped open, contents spilling out, in a panic he slammed on the breaks and reversed to see what happened all over my poor army. Now that I think about it andy go back to that night, I'm pretty sure so far in my short life that was one of the worst ads and feelings I have ever experienced

Yeah I apparently have a good habit of avoiding property damage pyschos. My exwife tried to kill me, not break my stuff. Thankfully other then a fear of cast iron skillets I survived that evil witch.

A friend of mine had a excellent paint, and custom sculpted Slaanesh Chaos army. He cheated on his girlfriend, and came home to find that one by one she had thrown each one into the garbage disposal, and ground them into gunk.

Another buddy came home from work one day to find his now ex-wife had thrown all of his warhammer stuff on the lawn, and stomped them to pieces. Lucky for him he had one army in the trunk of his car.
It was a vast collection that included a lot of expensive old irreplacable models.

Worst for me was at a tournament I had just finished assembling, and painting my hive tyrant when a buddy picked it up to look at it.
I turned only to hear it hit the hard tile floor having slipped through his hand, and watched as pieces flew in every direction.
So I had to play the entire tournament with bits, and a pair of legs on a base.

My wife was playing with our dog in the livingroom and she knocked over the Beast Lord Rakarth on his black dragon that I spent weeks painting. She then glued it back together and replaced it in its spot. I didn't notice for a week or so and by then its a bit to late to be to angry.

I had a friend accidentally sit on my leman russ. I was moving it from the model shop and put it on the seat in my car. Sadly this man was quite heavy, and it flattened the poor tank.

I don't think I posted this way back at the beginning when I mentioned what one ex did, but I have another story from family:
My aunt's boyfriend was really interested in my painting and models, and saw that my brand new, fully painted Soul Grinder (when they first came out) had pose-able claws. He then said "look, I have an earring!" I turned and saw he had closed the claw on his ear and moved his hand. It then crashed on the floor and the arm broke off and one leg snapped off. It was easily fixed, but he felt truly awful about it, and I probably could have guilt-talked him into buying me a second one. However, I'm too nice (despite my occasional tough-guy internet talk).

Had a buddy spend all day gluing 2000 pts of tau together in the shack outside my house where we play. He went to store them in my basement while carrying them in a big box but apparently forgot how to walk down a non-carpeted staircase.

All I heard was the crashing and swearing.

Lots of exploded minis but we were able to recover them all. Looking back it was kind of hilarious

Having your stuff broken accidentally by others is painful, but I have to say that nothing stings more than accidentally doing it yourself... Especially over something as simple as "watching where you're going".

Well, I(and siblings) are not very good at closing doors, so I went out one day with my bedroom door open, 1 hr later I had my newly painted 10 men death company out in the yard in pieces, apparently dogs really like plastic.

Cats would drink my painting water. After paint my grey knights for a few weeks their gak would sparkle.

Gf wouldn't dare break my stuff. Never hit her but non violence is the best way.

Argh! Finally got one.

On return home from a night at the games club, I had a Griffon tank conversion left on a box in the kitchen. Mrs notprop then lifted the box to get a letter underneath said box.

The nice new shiney box was a Zombiecide box so very shiney and very slippery. [slowmo mode on]. I watch in disbelief as as the tank slides inch by inch across the box, then on to the work surface and the even more excruciatingly on to the hardwood floor as it cartwheels about the place. NNNNNnnnnnnnnoooooooooo! [slowmo mode off]

I pick it up and note multiple missing now lost under the washing machine peices and multiple dings in the paintwork. The Mrs ever ignorant of all things wargaming sees that it has not broken in two and comments somewhat halfheartedly : "phew! It didn't break, still you have lots of those anyway".

I nearly did something I would regret at that point.... I say regret.....
