Aside from being bored of painting red, how do you feel about all these tau? Not to sound rude, but they seem a little less inspired than your other works. Is farsight starting to wear on you yet? The pops of grey look great in contrast to the blocks of red.

I quite like the Farsight Enclaves scheme and there's loads more to come so it's lucky I'm not bored of it yet.

@LutherMax: The Dark Riders are quite quick to paint but the Bloodwrack Shrine/ Cauldron of Blood is a whole different story. It's got so many nooks and crannies that you really have to paint those in stages and then assemble them when it's finished. Definitely increases the amount of time spent.

Very clean and sharp! Are the bases on the infantry staying black? I quite like the contrast as the models themselves are colourful but the larger models seem to have more tone - grey / brown etc.

Look good. It's surprising to see these still showing up in commissions, but I guess so do much older models from time to time.

@Luthermax: They're really great fun to paint, so many little details! These one's can't be detached from the bases as the client was only going to be using them for 40k.

I was really happy with how they came together and the client loved them. In fact I actually converted up a Farseer aswell for my own use:



Thought it will probably be a while before I get a chance to get some paint on him.

@Mars2024: It's not just from one kit. There are two different third party jetbike kits out there and we took they best parts from each, mixed with some GW parts and greenstuff work to come up with what you see above.

I've just finished off this Moritat as part of a new Heresy era Alpha Legion army:






It took a lot of trial and error to work out how to do the armour but I think it's come out quite well. Let me know what you think.

It definitely work out well! I like the subtle green hue on the highlights and the black of the cloak and hood bring a nice contrast to this mini.

Is the armour only painted with metallics and washes or is it more than that?

It started off as a basecoat of Leadbelcher, zenithal highlighted with Ironbreaker. Then it was built up using various thin layers of Ironbreaker mixed with Lothern blue, Tamiya Clear Blue, Tamiya Clear Green and Guilliman Blue. There were also some Runefang Steel edge highlights thrown in the middle of it.

Most of it was just trial and error but it should be much easier for the rest of the army.

Thanks mate Potentially up to 2000pts thought that's not quite as much as you'd think it is. Everything seems to be quite expensive in 30k.

Not sure of the thick white hightlights. Like it looks like it was to add a more starker edge on surfaces hitting the light more or something but then there's other edges that would fit with that as well but just don't have that white edge. Other than that they look pretty good.

It's not highlighting. The client just wanted white lines in those areas as part of the color scheme.

I love those Tau for some reason, those prolly look great on the tabletop.

The light blue works great with purple, i went with a mild green instead.

Here's a 2500pts Grey Knight army we've completed recently:

Man, I am missing the blue tint to the armor badly. I had no idea how important the tonal differences were until I saw this army. It is so crisp and clean and it makes the lack of blue just way more apparent for some reason.

The client supplied all of the models so I didn't have to worry about that but he did have to send quite a few extra.

The vehicles painted in this Deathwatch army are perfectly executed. The highlighting is amazing.

Those Kharadron Overlords are lovely... really incredible models, you have done them justice!

I’m amazed at the Adeptus Astartes on this page. All of the primary colours! The yellow that you’ve achieved on the Fists is really exceptional, you don’t see it very often. Also, I love the serious red that you’ve used for the Blood Angels. Sometimes, I feel as though GW can’t decide upon what shade of red they’d like to use for their BA studio models.

Anyhow, good stuff!

Thanks! Crisp and neat is definitely the style I like to go for and I'm proud to say we've never had a customer unhappy with their miniatures

Haha! Thanks for the compliments We do tend to get quite a lot of marines to paint. Blood Angels were the first army I ever collected and I've always preferred them a bit darker instead of bright and cartoony.
