Your rhino/razorback is looking really good. Love the little splotches of rust. The brown/red color spots work nicely with the green of the tank. Be nice to see the squad with the tank.

Well if you are dead set on something, I'd say the Questoris, purely because I want to see one built. I'm kind of on the fence for it in a non-AM paint scheme.

I fancy the questoris as my other knights are AM but I would like the Castigator as it is much bigger like the Lancer. I am sure I will end up with both eventually but I might start with the castigator.

I am going to concentrate on the LR for now but I am happy to hold onto it until I have done the squad too.

Glad you like it Whalemusic360! The top two pics are closer to the actual colour but the photos never do it justice. I think I need to get a better lighting set up. I did a bit more with this one as I didn't have a Demon entry ready this year I thought this was nearly finished so put a bit more freehand on and see how it goes. Unfortunately it didn't make the cut but it was good to see it in the cabinet. Just got to do the little dispersed rust spots to go and it's is done.

Very nice.. I don't do that much weathering as I under do it or over do it. This seems to be spot on.

Well it has been a long time since my last post but a new baby will do that to your hobby! Still done the next squad and the dispersed rust spots on the LR. Here are the pics;













The marine pics look a bit blurry but zoom in closer to the actual size and they look better, I will resize them down next time. Having uploaded them I have noticed a bit more work needs doing like the Serg's gun needs weathering on the inside as well as some metal on the bolt slide. Well I hope you all like my mini update it has been too long!

Looks good all around. At first I wasnt sure on the white, but the more I looked the more I like it. I think it's a sharper look than the darker squad.

I'm glad you like them Whalemusic360. I must admit I painted the first guy with white shoulder pads by accident but then I thought it looked quite cool and I know different companies in marines often have different trim and as you say it looks a bit sharper. I'll just touch up the bits I have noticed after photography and then I'll box them up for you.

Well I managed to get to Salute in London this weekend, a really great show where I got to see lots of great models and games and buy more than a few bits! I took quite a few pics so I thought I would share a few that really caught my eye. I also went and visited the Maelstrom's Edge team from Dakka and had a chat to the guys and looked at the miniatures and the boxed game. I have to say it was one of the better stands there and professionally presented. Nice to put some faces to names too! I really liked the scenery pack they are hopefully going to do, I will upload some pics if anyone wants but I am sure there is a separate thread with better pics than mine on there. Anyhow it was a really fun day and it has motivated me to dosome painting of non GW stuff so lets see what I produce soon.... So now for a few pics!

Well I have found a few moments to start a new project, since January my club has been running an escalation campaign. The idea being you start with 500pts get it painted & move up in points cost to the next level. Well it isn't my style to paint in small blocks with armies so I have just got the army undercoated & fully magnetised so it is painting time. I get extra points for painted & wisiwyg so it needs to be done by Tuesday night. We will see if I can do it! Picture is just missing a Vyper which is drying. The new codex changed my list somewhat so I only need 1500pts painted, this is more like 2000pts.

Are those the new bike kits or the old ones?

Unfortunately I bought 15 just before the new models came out which was very annoying. I have bought a set of 3 of the new ones and the Farseer is the new model (I magnetised his arm to have either the spear or witchblade). The new bikes are lovely models but I tend to run basic unmodded bikes anyway so these will do fine. If anything you could prob pick up some old ones at a bargain price now.

Well it has been a long time since I have been on, I have been quite busy with RL stuff. I am currently finishing off my commission for Whalemusic360, painting a blood bowl skaven team from Black Scorpion for a blood bowl tournament I am running in March. I was just wondering if you were still alive over there.

So last weekend was Warhammer Fest (used to be Games Day) I decided on a late entry for Golden Demon as I have suffered a bit of ill health over the last couple of months. So I wasn't expecting much as I could only dedicate 4 evenings of painting to the model which started on the sprue. He is the Betrayal at Calth Praetor in Cataphractii armour. It did not make the cut but it was nice to still enter something, the taking part & all that. Here are a couple of pics.

Thanks guys, it was a good day, caught up with old friends, saw some great new models and saw some awesome painting in Demon. Had a go at the kitbash competition but they only supplied super glue to make plastic models ( probably health & safety related) which made sticking them together very hard! I will post some photos of the highlights later. Spoke to the team doing Bloodbowl and they had lots of interesting news for the up & coming new release. Saw the pitch dug outs and new dice as well as the two plastic teams that will come with the box.

A bit of progress tonight on the sons of medusa, I am hoping to have the scouts finished by the end of the week. The serg has had the most attention, I really love this model. A couple of pics of the wip.

Not sure on the colored cables going to the gun. Seems a little off on such a bright scheme.

A bit more work done on the scouts tonight, nearly finished the serg and I think I will go black on the cables. I am still not happy with his chapter symbol and will work on that further. I can't decide how to do the camo on the cloaks, I have an idea of doing blown up sections of the chapter symbol in black and an off grey, like just an ark with the spike bits & maybe a bit of the skull. I also have been considering a digital camo pattern. Any preference Whalemusic? Any way a couple of pics;

Looking good. I like that the cable in black brings the focus to his face more. The chapter cape logo sounds cool, but do you think it will look to chaos star like? I also like the idea of digicam, think it's plausible on that small a scale?

That looks great. Transitions nice to a mini, since scaling down an actual pattern would look a mess.

Maybe a bit more so the shapes have a bit of overlap? I don't want to have you go far and ruin it though.

Hate embraced! Clean scouts pretty much finished, now just the weathering and picking up all the little bits I have missed but only ever spot in photos.

Digital camo is boss. Might try it for some BMG mercenaries.

Well I thought I was all done with the scouts but as usual the photographs have highlighted a couple of things that still need finishing! The clear varnish also managed to do away with most of the weathering powder so that will need reapplying too.

I can't understand why a couple of the pictures look a bit blurry, they are laser sharp in the originals as I took them with my DSLR. An odd quirk as I uploaded them to Facebook and they remained sharp. Any ideas why from anyone?

It's the compression the Dallas gallery uses. There are some tricks to beat it, but I'm not savvy on them.

Seems to relate to how large the original photo is that you're uploading... at least in my case. 4-7" wide at 300 dpi seems to work pretty well for me.

The thunder fire cannon is near completion and I have started the three tech marines so more updates will be incoming. I need to build the special character and get him done too.

Well I can see it has been nearly a year since I last updated! I have been extremely busy away from the hobby, I have changed jobs, moved house (very stressful) and relocated my little family. I have now finished the Techmarines and thunderfire Cannon for Whalemusic! They are by far my favourite models for the force, well on the infantry side anyway. Without further a do here are the pics you have all been waiting for!

Hey, I had pretty much forgot what you still had! Pics came out kind of blurry, or compressed, but everything looks solid. I know the rest of the dudes were feeling lonely without their fearless tech marines.

Yes on the whole I am but paint drys a whole lot faster here, temp, lack of humidity and the air con all don’t help! Can’t grumble at no income tax though! The compound I live on has great facilities and the sun is almost always shining.
