Those are called Puttee's Lone Cat, they were basicly for support and protection of the lower leg. As I say, its not something on my radar at the moment, but its something I could look at once I've got the Firing Line & Advancing Kits done.
Viktor, would I be right then in thinking that some of the poses in the Artillery Crew kit would do the job? I've started going through my masters now to see what I could fit in.
In other news, the Artillery Kits are finally back in stock! Both the Field Artillery Kit, and Field Artillery Battery, which can be assembled as Lasercannon's, Gatling Cannons, Autocannons or Tesla Cannons, there is a limited quantity available at the moment so if you've been waiting don't miss out!
couldn´t hotlink so uploaded that pic in my gallery...
bottom left and middle right I think could do the trick in my opinion...tho the latter I would have to see up close to really say... but in essence yes!
Oh, totally forgot; got my stuff the other day, couldn't be happier. I've already incorporated a Plaslock into my Archmagos Explorator, one of the drum-mag pistols into his henchman, and soon one of the chainsabres will find a home with a Rogue Trader
Javin, I've got them on order again at the moment, should be in next week I'd hope! Sorry, they've been rather popular and I've not been able to keep up with demand!
Yodrin, awesome! Would love to see what you've done with them if you fancy sharing? Feel free to post!
GIVEAWAY TIME!
It’s Curious Constructs second birthday this month, we've surpassed 500 likes, and on top of that the Field Artillery Kits are finally in production! I don’t know about you, but I think that’s a good enough reason to celebrate in the best possible way, a giveaway!
One lucky (and randomly selected) person who likes the Curious Constructs Facebook page is going to get a complete Field Artillery Battery Kit absolutely free! On top of that, for every extra 50 Likes the Curious Constructs page gets between now and the draw over 500 I’ll add something else to the prize pot! That means 3 Rocket Launcher kits and a spare Gun Carriage have already been added to the draw, with only 20 or so likes to go until another Gun Carriage is added!
Then LIKE, COMMENT or SHARE the draw post HERE! Each of those three actions will give you one entry in the draw which will take place on Saturday 17th May, so theres just a week to go! Don't put it off though, it'll take you a couple of minutes and you know you'll forget about it right?
lol Lone Cat I've been on Facebook more or less since the store opened two years ago
Normally I'd love to say what was in the works, but on this occasion I can't possibly comment on further artillery developments. This is potentially a VERY good thing.
Sure thing pal, I'm updating my currently dead(and autopsied, embalmed, buried, long rotted ) project logs later tonight, I'll try and remember to crosspost some WiPs.
I've painted a few up myself now, need to take some pics, but hav'nt used any yet in projects as I'm busy sculpting and getting ready for a Mordheim campaign, amongst other things!
Look at Colonial Troopers range. its helmet. What do you think about them? Do you think that they simply convert Brettonian men at arms to make a master piece? meow~
Well the giveaway has been and gone, and its been a very good month for Curious Constructs, I'm having trouble keeping up with demand, still waiting for a metal restock so the store is looking a little bare, sorry!
Fantastic work Yodrin, thanks for sharing!
Lone Cat, original sculpts, and quite nice ones at that!
I'm ploughing on with new sculpts myself now as well, heads, including the Adrian are nearing completion, and the Firing Line is taking shape, still work in progress, but I'm rather pleased with how the standing figure is looking!
I agree with the comment on the boots looking a bit clumpy but I think I'm looking at the Veterans to join my Praetorians, perhaps in a Rifles green colour scheme.

OK Once done show me that Adrian please.
and don't forget puttee legs meow~
^ This one is considerably orkish. but most WW1 era trenches were hastly built, any materials scoured from countrysides (and ones bought from any construction material distributors who did most sales of cheapest materials) are best used with earthworks.
nevermind... but tell me about desert light infantry units. are they desert rats or another Tallarns?
Another lil things. i've checked Curious Construct FB pages and there are photographs of IG/AM army projects. that uses CC Curious Constructs heads and torso but Vic's arms. any plans to make Mauser 'repeating' lasrifle yet? (or rifle with similar wooden stock and no pistol grip)
The Urban Barricades are a fantastic idea I think, Chris has got more up his sleeve as well, moulds in production and all that!
They'd fit a wide variety of uses I think!
Yep there are plenty of examples floating around of CC parts combined with other companies offerings, especially Vic's. While I would like to offer more alternatives in the future like a rifle without a pistol grip, at the moment I'm concentrating on other projects - so right now I'd encourage shopping around there are loads of options out there!
Talking of other projects, here's some early work from Joseph on the new Desert Light Infantry components he's working on for me, this will initially take the form of a combined head and torso set - legs and arms for the Renegades are also on the way!
Double damn coz I have literally just shelled out on loads of bits from various companies to kitbash my own desert themed light infantry... Might have to put that project on hold 'til I see more of these guys!
Renegade arms and legs would be great, I have some of the renegade torsos but I've used them as a base for some loyalist Sikh IG rather than the bad guys, I must say though they're great sculpts and the more chaos-y torso variants might just find their way into an army of heretics in the future.
I'd also like to echo Lone Cat here too, legs sets with puttees would be awesome, I think I spent days trawling the net looking for miniatures with just such a look and they are practically non-existent in heroic scale (or at least not in such a form that buying a load of them to convert wouldn't cause my wallet to have an aneurism!) I have done a few GS conversions on puttees so far but it is rather time consuming, the thought of doing anything more than a single squad is rather frightening!
Glad you like them! I'm a real fan of the work Joseph is doing, I just cant wait to see the rest - and the Renegades!
With regards to Puttee's, well I know they're in demand, realitically its not something I can tackle or afford to tackle just yet, but I can imagine puttee legs might mesh reasonably well with the desert troops, so when it comes to expanding on that range that is an option!
Siamese of the 1933 (and troops wear adrian not sun helmet). yet for any IG army designed after any 1930s era army. which torso piece do you recommend? if someone included any form of Flak armor. ... and if Cadian looks 'too modern'
Lone Cat, the Dress or Renegade torso's are my closest matches, for an exact match you might need to look at historical ranges at the moment potentially - I'm not aware of anything comparable.
Next up, I'm after some feedback on a work in progress design for the Plasmalock Rifle, Jake Schneider has been hard at work and drawn up a couple of designs, which I've augmented with a couple of tweaks with my awesome(ly bad) paint skills. I'm after feedback as to your favourite design/s and any changes you'd like to see - if any.
I don´t now how the firing mechanism of a garand would work on a plasma rifle for one... but I can understand the aesthetics at least...my favourite is definitely the first one...and with some distance then the fourth...
what I would like to see is some more detail on the pistol grip... that is lacking some character...
if you go for the third design, then I suggest you should make the plasma spools a bit more narrow...and more of them too...

Almost time for us to lift the lid on our the next Kickstarter campaign with our friends at Zinge Industries.
In the meantime though, thanks for your feedback on the guns, overal number 1 has definately had the most love, so its that we're moving forward for now.
Regarding the Flintlock WeaponPrime, this is based from the Laserlock rifle already in production so I'm very keen to keep the design cues from that rather then returning to the drawing board, I do understand what your saying though, and likewise the comments on the Pistol Grip, this is going to stay as the weapons are compatible with different arm options which similarly use pistol grips. I may look towards doing a weapons line without them in the future though potentially - not yet though.
Late to the party but I vote for #1 as well. With the coils painted in a 'plasma-stylee' it should still be obvious what they are, and the perforated shielding is just a great look.
Guess I should start putting pennies aside for the upcoming KS......
It looks like one of FW products. control panels look very Diesel Punk.. like Fallout universe or even the 40k itself.
the large calibre MG seems to serve the role of Heavybolter. isn't it?
And does the MG bit compatible with wheeled CC gun carriage too? meow~
I backed your last kickstarter and loved it. hopefully i will be able to back again this time as i like the look of these and good luck with the campaign.
Smuttbudgie wrote: I backed your last kickstarter and loved it. hopefully i will be able to back again this time as i like the look of these and good luck with the campaign.
Ditto
Not that I need something like this, but if the price is right I'd be down for at least one myself, looks like a really characterful artillery piece, and therefore, cool as feth!
We need your help now to get these new kits including a Gun Platform, Heavy Caliber Machine Gun, Rocket Launcher, Mortar and Cannon into production, with more to come!
They look good but without seeing any of the add ons right now I have to pass. To get 3 guns for 35 pounds then have to pay 25 pounds to ship to the USA just is not worth it financially for me. The shipping is killing me this go around.
Generalstoner wrote: They look good but without seeing any of the add ons right now I have to pass. To get 3 guns for 35 pounds then have to pay 25 pounds to ship to the USA just is not worth it financially for me. The shipping is killing me this go around.
From what i read on the KS page its £15 postage to the USA not £25.
Jehan-reznor, due to the demand for them, yes, plans are being made to do some crew.
Orlando, no worries! We'll hopefully have these available in time for the end of the year!
Generalstoner, yes it is £15 postage Internationally as Smuttbudgie says rather then £25. I suspect that might be a typo on your part though. At first glance it probably does sound a tad on the high side for the smaller pledges, its worth highlighting this cost includes Tracking & Insurance though - unfortunately thats what Royal Mail charges these days and it very difficult for us to absorb that sort of cost. We'll keep reviewing it though, if we can bring it down we absolutely will do.
As too the preview of the rest of the core weapon options you can pick from, these should all go up today!
For anyone not following the campaign, we've reached over £4000 in funding, twice the initial goal, unlocking the first three Stretch Goals, a Barrage Balloon Anchor, Flak Cannon, and Multi-Mortar! The Multiple Missile Launcher and a Freebie of Ammo the next two stretches.
No problem and I shall pass that on OnemanNoodles, Kit is from Zinge Industries a fantastic team who I'm partnering with on this Kickstarter! Thank you for your support!
Just for anyone who has'nt seen them, we've also previewed concepts of the Barrage Balloon Anchor & Flac Cannon stretch goals which have been unlocked, with more coming today - expect to the see the Multi-Mortar shortly!
Here we have the Barrage Balloon Anchor concept!
And an early concept of the Flac Cannon!
Don't forget that Early Bird Pledges will close today, with more Concept previewing to come a little later on!
I think why they dont offer paypal is that most of the time the money is usually payed out from paypal straight away which mean KS would have to hold the funds until the project ends, the other problem with that is most campaigns run for around a month and that is usually over the time for you to dispute or recall the money. I think thats some of it but the payapal terms are weird.
^
1. Is it pneumatic artillery piece just like Ork Lobber? cannon ball is shown but where's propelling agent?
it's nice that this weapon serves the function of wyvern stormshard cannon. but will the gun itself compatible with GW Hydra/Wyvern SPA?
2. And will the 'browning single barrel MG' versions that serves similar functions as your heavy Gatling / HB for generic HW teams become available too?
So its been a few days since our last update, but theyve continued thick and fast on the Kickstarter!
First up we have the Multiple Missile Launcher which has so far proven very popular!
Next, the first Freebie of the campaign, an Ammunition sprue featuring a selection of ammo types for the weapons so far unlocked, and a couple of those from the 2013 Kickstarter.
We've also unveiled the bizarre Homing Pigeon guidance system(!).
And most recently the Doomsday Missile.
We're still looking at the Flac Cannon at the moment, with further revisions planned, and have just announced the next few Stretch Goals, we're a scant distance away from the Searchlight, with the Flame Cannon, and three further Platform types next on the agenda - Wheeled, Tracked...and Legged!
Come and check out the campaign page if this latest batch gets your interest!
^ And it is V-1 ! the pigeon guided missiles were tested (by the U.S. Navy I think) in the WW2. (possibly after they captured several pieces of V1 wreckages.
After some reworking following feedback from backers we have progress on the Flac Cannon which has gone beyond the concept stage now. It's still work in progress, but we are getting there!
Still work in progress Lone Cat The main reworking was relating to the barrels which have changed massively from the Culverin inspired weapons of the initial concept following feedback.
And it looks like the Flame Cannon is now unlocked as well.
Can we reach the alternate self-propelled gun platforms?
1. Will turret piece compatible with standard GW Hydra/Wyvern SPA? meow~
2. Yes but which class of SP gun plaform will it be?
2.1 Rapier/Thunderfire?
2.2 Wyvern/Hydra?
We've had a couple more unlocks since my last proper update, with the Searchlight and Flame Cannon both becomming unlocked!
The Searchlight is also a multi-option kit, which allows you to build it in a couple of different ways.
With just over 24 hours to go we're closing in on unlocking the first of the Self-Propelled Platforms, the wheeled variant, beyond that are the Tracked and Walker versions.
Its not too late to get on board in the final 30 hours of the campaign, but dont leave it too long!
The tracked platform appears to looks like Leman Russ runs in reverse meow~
And will the wheeled SP gun carrier features coupling rods connecting to reciprocating piston?? meow~
This coupling rod looks really out of place! it doesn't connect roadwheels to reciprocating cylinder by any means. I don't think this vehicle will work unless the siderods are hooked to cylinders or top wheels meow~
^ Look at Canadian Pacific 0-8-0 switcher and you'll understood why siderods are needed to be hooked to reciprocating cylinders meow~
The campaign may be over, but progress continues with Kit from Zinge Industries Limited busy working on turning concepts into finalised designs.
On that note we have the Barrage Balloon Anchor,
and the Flame Cannon.
We also have a work in progress shot of the Flac Cannon, its changed alot from the original design taking on board all the feedback we've had from backers. I've got to say I'm really loving the way this one is coming together now myself!
Good details on tracked steam carriage. the driving wheels got siderods. but tell me about siderods that connects the lower roadwheels please? I still don't see that it is connected to reciprocating piston mew!
You'd need to talk to Kit about that I'm afraid Lone Cat!
A little pre-release today, I've a small stock of Joseph Selman's new Desert Infantry torso's on the store, with a 20% pre-release discount. This is a little experiment with heads and torso's combined so to allow the cloth of the head gear to flow properly. Once the remaining pre-release stock is gone these will not be available until late October/early November.
Also in the store, amongst a few restocks, are separate standing legs which have been requested a few times.
Also. tell me about about the two things please
1. Vickers leman russ
2. Praetorians 'Battle of Orks Drift' (and the planet this battle took place... if there's canon sources about it)
Actually there's a description about 'Vickers leman russ' in the PM i've sent you. but I can show some of it here
Vickers Leman Russ .. or Vickers pattern Leman Russ. for me it means any amalgamation of Vickers interwar tanks (especially the 6-ton Mark E, but it may be something else) and generic Leman Russ. Googling however, yielding various results related to 40kIG army. Usually found on Warseer threadhead thread. (yet none of these identified these tanks as Vickers leman russ) The results including these followings.
Spoiler:
^ A fast tank made of Chimera and use Conqueror rules.
In Conclusion. the definiton of 'Vickers Leman Russ' is that either any aspects of Vickers 6-ton Mark E (or any Vickers product) had been included into any Leman Russ. (Including that the Leman Russ in question uses leaf springs double bogie suspension instead of coil springs with hydraulic assistances. What's your design proposals?
Honestly Lone Cat, I don't have one at present, for now I've no plans on vehicle projects, though that will likely change once the current Kickstarter with Zinge Industries is finished, and the third mini-Kickstarter - coming soon - is underway.
rustproof, they'll be on their way to you a little later today! Hope you like em! I think Joseph has done an excellent job with these!
Just a little something from myself today, part of the most recent batch of stuff I've had back from the casters is the new 'Dragoon Guard' head, though confusingly I'll be using putting them to use on my Life Guard Storm Troopers for my Games Workshop Praetorian Imperial Guard army.
Waiting on a production mould now with this set of heads, and some others - Bearskins, revised Picklehaubes and Adrian's coming alongside the Desert Infantry at the end of this month/early next!
Col.Gravis wrote: Yeah I'm pretty pleased with them Ketara, cant wait for the delivery, Ive got a couple of squads waiting!
I'm kind of happy now that I never got around to painting up my Victoria Miniatures pith helmet head Storm Troopers now. Time for an order and a head swap.
I need to get them done before the new Kickstarter goods turn up. No pressure by the way.
Look at their rifles. while at first glance it looks abit like like Brown bess with laser lock and Tommygun drum magazine. I am not really sure if the wooden parts are made of one-piece wood like a generic early modern muskets and WW1-era bolt action rifles. my favorite but too bad nobody is making any version of lasgun except FW mew!
(Or maybe i'd better stick with 'modern' equipment like M-Galaxy thing mew!)
Col.Gravis wrote: Yeah I'm pretty pleased with them Ketara, cant wait for the delivery, Ive got a couple of squads waiting!
You've already snaffled money from me for those ltd edition torsos Rob. Now you're doing cool looking heads I can't afford but will probably buy anyway.
At this rate, you're going to make me need to get my wallet psychiatric counselling for all these violations!
Concept art of my future project that will use Adrian Helmet head. The WW2 Siamese army of the 41st millenium. the uniform and body armor choices are really hard to decide which one looks best for them? one in the right is loosely based on Warzone Imperial Trenchers. while everyone can think that the 'Imperial' megacorps is based around the WW1 British. their helmet looks quite close to French adrian. rather than British broadie.
I'm yet to design their lasrifle choices BTW. whether should they stick to Mauser rifles / pre-WW2 semiautomatic rifles, or modern pulserifle aesthetics that both WH40k and WZ uses?
Gah. See, I'll be honest with you, I simply wouldn't purchase as things stand purely because it would be exceptionally difficult for me to get get any variety. I could chuck in one or two various unhelmeted heads in a squad of five stormtroopers to mix it up a little, but if the remaining three suffer from attack of the clones syndrome, then I'm forced into trying to sculpt 'taches and stuff. Which I'm not very good at.
Adrian heead is one thing to initiate the new IG army, yet another pieces are needed. for example the puttee legs, new torso with a big gorget
(Flak armor) and shirts i've shown you my concept art . and different arms with Lasrifle similar to Mauser G98 and its derivatives. the arms with shoulder pads please
one lil thing. do you have Leman Russ/Chimera sprocket wheel templates for both classic track wheels and ork gun wheels? meow~
Fair point well made Ketara, I'll have a look at what can be done though it may be some time, given its me!
You want more Lone Cat? Ah hell...
Just a quick notice - I'm joining in with the Sales fun, so you'll find a good portion of my range on sale at the moment, with discounts of up to 75% on the webstore!
exactly (or maybe i need to buy components whenever which one becomes available).
^ Leman Russ (sample but I may make more drawings) and basic weapons... Lasgun/Lasrifle, Autogun and Bolter (for sergeant)
which models of lasguns and autoguns looks best for the proposed IG army? the Mauser-Springfield type? the Vic original type or modern type?
Also on the bolter. which one looks better? the A (generic bolter with different grip-stock or type B... which based on Madsen automatic rifle?
This is my drawing that has just been finished. the Siamese armor choices. All of which are based on the actual Siamese armours up to the moments of its war against Indochine Francais in December 1940.
Spoiler:
All are made to the contexts of 40k universe. but for the MBT Choices. which designs looks best for the army?
1. Generic Leman Russ
2. 'Vickers' Pattern Leman Russ
3. 'Enlarged' Vickers 6-ton Mark E
And any suggestions to improve the designs and made them conforms with the existing IG Codex vehicles?
Also I need sprocket wheel templates for a generic Imperial tank threads please
checked my post box on the way out to work tonight, and ooh my kickstarter mini's have turned up!
didnt have much of a chance to look at them before i had to leave for work, but:
clockwise from top left:
tracked platform, static platform, multi missile launcher, flac cannon
all perfect casts, no warp or bubbles that I can see. the way the cog fits for the flac cannons is great, should mean you can get both 'arms' aligned easily. good stuff
You can pick up the Carriages/Platforms with or without Weapons, singularly or in 3 piece Battery deals! The sets are fully customisable, so you can pick your weapons/equipment of choice!
Here are just some of the many possible possibilities, with five different platforms and fifteen different weapons/equipment options!
Been quiet for a while, but things are moving again, towards resin no less!
The complete range of Curious Constructs torso's are now resin cast rather then metal, and with no change to pricing either. The casting is all done by the chaps at Zinge Industries, if you've purchased directly from them before, or our Artillery kits you'll know that means top notch quality! Next up I'm remastering the Pith Helmetted Heads and Dragoon Guard heads amongst other bits, they'll be switched to resin before the end of the summer!
Col.Gravis wrote: Answer to all of those questions is yes Kid_Kyoto!
And will there be desert raider puttee infantry legs and cav legs? (and let's hope it fits nicely with the pre-existing (19th century) outfits)
When did the Ministry of War introduces puttee to the british troops (and replaces either long boots and webbing leggings. did the Mahdist war the first time puttee has been introduced with Khaki uniforms)
Did Praetorians being deployed against human heretic rebels similar to the Mahdist war? (or did the official 'Orks Drift' diorama a Mahdist war in space?)
The old Curious Constructs webstore has now closed, everything currently available has been migrated over to Kirton Games, www.kirtongames.com.
As of yesterday, the Dragoon Guard & Pith Helmeted Heads are back, this time in resin, with some minor alterations to the Pith Helmetted set, and now greater variety in the Dragoon Guard set! Theres also a cheeky extra discount on GW Scions which go rather well with the Dragoon Guard heads.
