I think the white walls are sexy on the missile truck myself.

I look forward to seeing how your launchers work out. Its getting close to the end here.

Yeah, i'm not that far away from painting.

i'm just trying to work out how the rack should look.
but i think i got a pretty good idea atm

DiDDe this is looking awesome! Great detailing on the "Bunny Lugs" and love the idea.....

Raises a lot of interesting ideas about the Leman Russ being able to accomodate and be modified to take a lot of different weapon systems......

Great stuff..... cant wait to see it painted!!

Oh... and with regards to the rack... usually i would always say a bigger rack is always better..... but in this case i think a little restraint would keep it looking awesome.... but still within the laws of physics..

Great work so far, and scary summing of firepower too!

As for the missiles - if you haven't found those missing HK yet - maybe you could try working them out from a wood rod (3 mm or 1/8" diam. wood dowels would do)? Cut to length, round sanding the tip to cone shape, and engraving the deeper lines with a dremmel tool or hobby-knife + file? And plastic cut fins? I think you could make it work in less time that it sounds!

Cheers.

Magos, Littletower. thank you for stopping by to look and leave a comment. you are most welcome to my thread!

@Magos: Thank you so much. i'm really happy with how they came out myself.
and yes, the LRBT has alot of potential to be modified. and also it's quite conversion-friendly too.
i have now cut away 2cm on the rack and i think it looks alot better now.

@Littletower: Thank you. hehe yeah i think it will pack a punch
i like the idea of how to build the HK missiles. but if i get to that point i think i'm gonna use plastic rods instead of wooden ones.
and the reason for that is that i have plastic rods but no wood rods.

stay tuned guys i think i will have an update up tonight!

May I suggest using a set of scale model missiles instead of hunting down the GW ones?

Hey guys! small update today.

iv'e been away for the weekend to meet up with my brother and two other friends. one of them just got home from afghanistan. so we went out to a bar to give him a welcome home.
and that's what i've been up to.

and because of that i haven't been able to build anything.

as it is right now it's just a matter of small fixes and the pivoting arm. then it's just a matter of painting.
it's not much time left of the competition. and i've given myself tomorrow as a deadline for the building.

and one more thing! i got a pakage from cam (thanks alot man! yesterday! so now i'm up to 8 missiles. and that's enough to fill one row on the rack!

anyways, it's currently bluetact together so that i can see where the details and other stuff will go. and who am i to not share this wonderful view!

so feast your eyes on this everyone!

I think It looks ok with the one row.

(ps your welcome, no worries.)

Very cool sir.... Very cool!!!

I know you dont have time for your competition entry.... but just a thought... a secondary vehicle / trailer unit to carry around the extra rockets??! ..........

actually scrap that idea....... the exhaust flares from the rockets would just set off the ones in the trailer..... haha! DOH!!

Pay no attention... its looking great!

Cheers,

i could make the pivoting-arm a bit shorter. but then i lose some elevation.
and the leman russ does not have that great elevation from the start..

but that is quite a minor detail compared to the ammased badassery this piece is oozing...paint it ... now!!!!

Amazing! Can't wait to see it with paint!

In-game, it'll be one of the first things your opponent will target, so if you roll the initiative, one volley should really put the hurt on before it gets taken.

yeah that's right folks! you will now see the finished piece.

hope you like it! i know i do

here's the pics.

Great idea with the cabling. and the weathering is superb. Also great job on the transportable bits. That would need an awfully big box else.

Thank you! yeah i really like how the plasma turned out. i like the green. and also, i painted the white in the creveses instead of using them as a highlight as seen almost everywhere else.

in that way i gives a whole new imperssion.

Yeah guys.. i'm here again. not moving on very fast i must say. but i do manage to build/paint something every now and then. so i just thought i'd show you what i have done since last time..

it's not much so don't get your hopes up, but atleast it's something

first up is the top turret for the marauder destroyer. yes yes i know i haven't been paying that any attention for a while, but i will.. eventually.

so here's the pics of it.

i'm gonna wait with painting the exterior until i'm painting the whole thing.

the second thing i'm gonna show you is a heavy wepons squad. i'm not really happy with how they have to carry around the regular long lasgun along with the big ass wepons they have as pramary.

so i converted them to look abit shorter and put them on their backpacks. and it looks waaaay batter imho

they are not all done yet. but i just have one more team to convert so.. i'll be back with that.

Thank you very much! it's really fun to play around with small conversions. they are not hard to do, but they are very effective

Thanks! it feels great to be around.

and thanks again for those kind words.

and about the katuysha/calliope, i still haven't figured out a proper name for the model,, i was thinking about "leman russ hellfire" but it just doesnt feel right..
so if you guys could come up with something then let me know! i kinda want it to be in style with the other russes, the executioner, demolisher, punisher, vanquisher, and so on..

i'm almost done with converting the heavy wepons squad now. only have the last spotter left.
forgot to mention in my last post that iv'e started painting an aegis defence line.
i've also started a conversion of three chimeras. i'm thinking of moving the turret abit backwards to make a proper hatch for the driver. but more on that later.

I think I just now had a first look at yon katyusha....which I think looks wicked!

as for that turret... how did you get the mirrored versions of the heavy bolters done?...or are they from a landraider kit?

as for the lasguns... a good conversion... but I wonder... do you not own the lasgun versions of the catachans? there a tad shorter by default...and then there is that lasgun with the foldable metal stock from the tank kit too....

but your conversion is of course justified as you work with what you have... no point in always buying new stuff if there is plenty of stuff already there

Wow, the Katyusha is an awesome visual. Really outstanding.

Now please tell me you have a little MP3 player with speaker inside the tank, one that plays the sound those rockets make when launched. Please?

I think it is spelled Катюша, BTW

Thank you vik! the turret is from the marauder destroyer kit from forgeworld. so i have not done anything to it exept replaceing a plate at the rear of the canopy that was in really bad shape..

see

as for the lasguns. i do not have the catachan version.. but if i did i would probably shorten them down too.
but my intentions all along was to use the lasguns that comes with the kit and convert those.. i mean, where's the fun part in using something that you don't have to convert?
and i'm not really a big fan of the ones with foldable stocks.. they does not look right to me. though i do understand why those would be a great choise.

Red Harvest wrote:Wow, the Katyusha is an awesome visual. Really outstanding.

Thanks alot red!

haha that sounds like a pretty badass idea! but nope.. i do not have that installed.. sorry

and yeah, you're right. it is spelled like that.. show off!

i got some pics of the finished HW squad. well almost finished.. all they need now is some binos. but i'll just dig for those in the bitzbox later.

Hi mate!

That "Firestorm" looks amazing! For me it is the wiring from each of the fiing sections that attach to the back of the turret that is the outstanding feature of a great build! really sweet weathering too! That would certainly rain death down upon its enemies!

OOOoooo and i certainly like the look of the kitbashed Chimera you are hacking away at! the form and the proportions look really nice already!

Thank you!

at first i was gonna skip the wiring, and just leave it as it was. but then i figured that it would need some kind of a firing mechanism, so i looked at the calliope and saw that it had a wire from every single missile.
and i thought that it would look good if i did that too and i must say that i don't regret doing it.

and about the chimera, my first intensions was to only remove the ugly lasguns sticking out on the sides. and now it ended up looking like that. xD

Rogue Wolves wrote:Well It has been a while DiDDe but I am loving what I am seeing here!

Thank you Rogue Wolves! it is great to see you back again.

so guys, i have been away for the weekend and i didn't have time to finish the chimera. but it's only a matter of small details now.
i will continue my build tonight and hopefully have some finished pic up tomorrow

here's what it looks like right now.

i'm having a hard time deciding if i should make some gunports on the sides and how they would look if i were to do so.. what do you guys think?
and how would they look in that case?
all help is really appreciated!

Warboss_Waaazag wrote:I like the modifications to your chimera. Nice unique look.

Thank you very much!

we've had one hell of a thunderstorm here all day. i have never seen anything like that here where i live before.. i must really have made thor upset.
so i haven't been able to use any kind of electronics until now..

but the chimera is all done now, only painting left. but i will build one more before i paint them. this one only served as a test model to see if i could pull it off and if i would like the look and all that.
well, enough of that now. here it is!

and some details

since i had to remove 4 of the lenses from the back of it i decided to use them as lenses for the driver to give the front more details and life.

and that's it! so please let me know what you think all C&C is welcome.

Conversion came out well, nice take!

Perhaps add some rivets on the sides of the raised main hull to break up the panel a bit before paint? Or some stowage? (Rolled cammo nets maybe?)

Comms arrays at the back of the turrets looks great too, nice addition.

guard stuff that looks good in numbers is the best way too justify any way of conversion in my view... if it doesn´t look good in numbers then you´ve done something wrong... as this then will be the thing that makes you flinch when you field your army... no hiding in uniform looking vehicles and footloggers en masse...

I like this conversion... tho I have to say I didn´t dislike the ball- lasgun thing too

Yeah that's right, in numbers even ugly things can turn out cool.

and thank you!
well, those ball lasgun ports kinda look abit steampunk-ish if you ask me. so i can see why that calls to you then.

shasolenzabi wrote:Ah, modified IFV's

and a very easy conversion too.

so i'm back with an update! yaaaay...

since my last update i have had some RL stuff to take care of, so i haven't been able too build that much.

and one of those RL things were that i went to a festival! it's a growing festival called "Rockstad falun" or "Sabaton open air" that gets bigger and bigger for every year. it's only been going for 7 years so it's still kinda new.
but it was lots and lots of fun to go there. and since the festival is anything but near where i live i had to find somewhere to sleep, and what gives you more festival-feeling than camping in tents with about 1-2000 other people?

so me, my friends (we were about 13) and some other campers that joined us were sitting there in a big cozy ring with a guitarr singing songs, drinking beer and just having a good time.
then all of a sudden there came like 15 other people with a big banner and wepons (swords, shields, maces stuff like that) saying that they were there to claim our camp.
our respons were that they should atleast give us some time to defend ourselfs like the noble knights they were. and they did just that.. and boy did they regret it later on.

so there we were sitting in a ring looking at eachother thinking, "what on earth are we going to do?"
me and 3 others went and bought like 200 meters of duct tape. and then we went to work. building about 15 wepons in 2 hours! and armor ofcourse!
and since i brought a bucket i used that as a helmet. and that's when i bacame "King Bucket, ruler of the mighty kingdom of Camp Bucket".

and you should have seen the battle! it was a battle of epic scale i tell you! and we won too.
it's wonderful how 30 random strangers can come together and play like they were all 5 years old again.

god i love festivals...

so, who am i not to share my accomplishments in the field. i'm really happy with how they came out since i was anything but sober when i built them.

so it's a two handed mace, a two handed sword, and a helmet.
all the others made swords and helmets too, but one guy made an M2 flamethrower! and it looked epic to say the least!
it's a shame i don't have any pics of them. maybe some of the others have some.

anyway! like i said, the festival were lots and lots of fun. it was my 3rd year there and it never fails to deliver!

last but not least, here's a photo of King Bucket all ready for battle! minus the sword...

and yes, i said before on Vik's thread that i don't take photos when i'm out drinking.. and well, this here is probably the reason why.
and that's probably why i dont have any pics of the others..

so, moving on to something more hobbyrealated then.
while i was thinking of something to build for the contest i thought i'd build a base for my second sentinel.

the concept is that want it to look like it's been moving through some ruins and is on it's way out on the street again.

and this here is what a tired sentinel looks like..

then i began building. since i used the other part of the ruin for the vindicus gunship base i had a straight line where i sawed it off to deal with. as you can see on the first pic.
so i took my knife and started carving.. and this is what i ended up with.

and these are just some other details i've done so far.

and the start of the street.

the next step is to add some GS for sculpt the cobblestone for the streets. after that it's just a matter of putting some debris all over the place and it's ready for paint.

and as i said. "while i was thinking of something to build for the contest" i've come up with something to build!
it will be a bridge. but i will convert a chimera to come with it. since it's the chimeras job to lay it down.

and i will base it on the russian MTU-90 Bridge layer.

so what do you think so far guys?

whoa.....cool....
I went to a larp con once...and it was an amazing thing to happen to me... sadly way too late... now that I have kids I don´t feel that I have time enough to follow that road again... maybe later...

I bet that must have left quite a lot of bruises... duct tape was banished on our con back then as it tends to smart quite a bit... but you Vikings probably are of more sturdier wood then us mere germans

the weapons by the way look very decent... the helmet and your armor are a very good example of how to recycle in earnest......(tho I actually thought a Swedish chap would know that there never was a RL helmet with horns on them for obvious reasons.......)

the posing of the sentinel is very cool... and I genuinely LOLed when seeing the tired sentinel... reminded me of old C3PO...when he was shutting himself down at obi wans house...

and your chimera conversions are far from ugly...
also...you are right, I tend to like the ballmounted joints for guns on my vehicles... it is something that speaks to me somehow...

and that track laying tank idea... good... but you have now a small competition for yourself as someone else is also making one of these for the comp too...

Used to LARP, been to the Gathering a couple times a few years ago now. AWESOME. But your armour looks the bee's knee's, great stuff, Helmets the winner for me.

As to other things, all looking awesome, and can't wait to see your take on the road layer.

Hello guys!

So, where should i start?? hmm,.. well, the bridgelayer concept went to hell.. i didn't even start it.
the biggest problem was that i didn't find any inspiration to do anything about it at all.

on the other hand, i haven't been completely out of inspiration. i have managed to finish the sentinel and that one is ready for paint now.
also, i have built a squad of shock troops and put a little paint on my aegis defence line.

pics of all that will come.

but now on to the current thing i'm working on.
like i said about the last competition i never found any inspiration do build it. well, that is now the case of this one!
the problem with this one is that i have so MANY ideas that i'm having problems choosing which ones to go with.

and here's the early concept.

so the idea is that this is a provisional wall to separate two regions that are in a conflict while a bigger and much more advanced wall is being made, so the wall will be made out of precast blocks and and a fence, with barbed wire on the top of them both. and as the rules for the competition say, one sections has to be 12 inches long. so i'm gonna make 6 blocks for each section.

and ofcourse there will be alot of battledamage too.

i also have an idea for a checkpoint/gate section that wount be as long as the other two. eighter that or a guard tower. maybe both.. we'll see how long time the first two will take first.

So a little update. i got the final sketch done. so this is what the wall will look like in whole.

i can't start building the blocks yet because i don't have any foam to do that yet. but in the meantime i'm gonna focus on building the fence that will be on eigther side of the wall.
and that part is pretty time consuming. and then i haven't started with the barbed wire yet.

so first off, i need something to put the mesh on to.
so i slaughtered a sprue that once held a sentinel and made peices that were roughly 5cm long.

poor sprue...

next up i cleaned them

and then started cutting them into 5cm long pieces.

until i ended up with this.

and that's 24 (not so)precision cut sprue bits that will act as poles for the mesh to be put on.
and that's only for one 30cm section.
later on i will have to make 24 more of those. oh god, what have i gotten myself into..

so that's how far iv'e come. next step is to make ALOT of barbed wire all made out of mesh. and i think i'm gonna do a tutorial for that one.

Hurrah! Your back.
Great to see you at it. Great work, dude. It looks brilliant, I have used the same barbwire technique and it is great but a bit fiddly.

As a note, i see you saying you are doing pieces 12" (30cm) long. The competition actually asks for a minimum of 2 pieces of "fence" with an overall length of a minimum of 12". So you could do 2 bits 15cm long or 4 bits 7.5cm long. You can have longer and more bits as you see fit. It is just that you seem to be under the impression you have to do 2 bits 30cm long. just trying to clarify.

Your stuff so far is looking brilliant. And with your plans look amazing. With your skills this will be a brilliant I am sure.

Thank you Cam!
And a big thanks for that claification too! i was indeed under the impression that it had to be 2 peices 12" long..

well, that makes for alot of new ideas..
i'm still gonna do a total of 60cm but i'm gonna make them in 5cm sections. and i'm also gonna add corners!

but right now i'm making alot of barbwire, that's why i haven't made an update yet. this takes time..

FINALLY!!!!

5 years later i'm finally done with the barbwire and fence.

and this sums up to 7 peices of fence 25,5cm long and 4,5cm wide.
and about 23 strips of barbed wire 29cm long.

please let this be enough..

and a note to self... don't store the wire in a pile.. there are only 23 of them. but it took me almost 20 minutes to separate them!

and some other news then. iv'e got my hands on some styrofoam now, so i'm able to start carving out the wallpieces! yaay!

Barbwire is a pain, but in the end your terrain will look amazing for the work and dedication you put into it. Trust me.
