These awesome Tyranids were painted by the Frontline Gaming paint studio team to look like Poison Dart frogs for our customer! Very cool. Check us out for your next paint project! https://www.frontlinegaming.org/paint-service/
Yes, photography is a constant struggle for us. We have incredibly talented artists, but many do not have the quality equipment needed to take the best pics of their work at their studios or homes. So, we can't always get the quality of pictures we'd like to show off the work.

Maybe you have done this, but if not I suggest making a standard document with instructions and diagrams on how you want them to light, angle and snap pictures after each project, also at what size photo and res to upload and email to you since it can limit what you are able to do after they send them to you. You will still have problems, that's business for you, but at least you will have a standard reference for every painter no matter their skill level. I'd also encourage them to practice and send pictures of incomplete or personal pieces so you can critique their photography. Who would have thought a commission painting service would need to think like a photography chain
The dartanids look sweet, I am sure that guy will have a lot of good comments on his new army! Good job!

The Foldio is quite affordable and is supposed to work well enough for normal miniatures, even with a phone camera. You might need the bigger version for units/large vehicles etc, but I'm not sure if that's out yet.
Haechi wrote: I have a quick question which will appear a little blunt and I'm sorry if I seem a bit critical but..
Can you choose the artist when ordering from you?
Honestly some of the level 3 paint jobs look horrible and worse than other's level 1.
Bluntness is ok! Remember, all clients have to sign off on a commission's final pics before it is finalized. All of our artists, both Tabletop and Tabletop Plus Standard, have their own unique styles. We try and pair their styles with what a client is looking for. You can certainly request the artists who have painted certain commissions and if they are available they can paint the commission for you. You can have a nose at our full portfolio to get more of an idea of what you can choose from. https://www.frontlinegaming.org/portfolio/
The bases are actually the same style, the pics make them look different.
But yeah, Dwarves are awesome fun! We all love them. The cannons are a bit rough, but hey, haha
Automatically Appended Next Post: Oh, and check this out. We painted a min for the one and only Gav Thorpe! How cool! He wanted a Corax to go with the release of the Corax book he just wrote.
The gloss reflection may also have been as a result of the picture taking process, too. But, thanks, glad you like the mini, it came out great! Those infinity models are just so beautiful.
A Tabletop level Tau Broadside! Tabletop is out best value with the Frontline Gaming paint studio. Check us out for your next paint commission! https://www.frontlinegaming.org/paint-service/
Excellent. I like that far better than the normal one I've seen several times.
Silly question, but as a commission service, what do your guys get tired of painting? I.e. what do you paint the most? I'd imagine Imperial Knights must be tiresome after the first dozen or so...
Commission painting is a job, like any job. There's ups and downs. For our studio, it is fun as the guys that work in house get to have a mega relaxed environment where they have movies playing, they can bs, and as long as they hit their deadlines, it's a really cool job.
When I was actually one of the painters it did get old sometimes, but the finished product was always well worth it, made me feel good to see them when they were done.
I didn't see my second commission in here, but saw the first. Just wanted to extend another thanks to you guys. You helped me get the rest of my Eldar to where I wanted them to be, and I love every bit of it.
Clients: Pay the extra money for a proper base when your paint job is going to be so good!
There is some bleed over of the gold onto areas that should be blue (like on the right arm) that could use some clean up, normally its not the end of the world but with such a strong metallic its really noticeable.
Hopefully you also like this beautiful Lord of Change our studio recently put out, too!
I do, another great piece. I'm sure your client is going to be very happy with their Lord of Change. Hope we can see some of these gorgeous models in some future battle reports on your channel.
Check out our new paint studio web-page! We'll be having blog updates with W.I.P.'s and all kinds of cool tutorials, etc. https://www.flgpaintstudio.com/
A mix of the listed techniques, yes. Our team is pretty versatile.

Beautiful colors, magnetized options and great basing. What else do you need? Check out the FLG Paint Studio for your next commission. https://www.flgpaintstudio.com/
Next up: tabletop level White Scars Space Marines Bikers! Tabletop is a very affordable level paint job that looks great and doesn’t break the bank. www.FLGPaintStudio.com
These Tournament Standard Aggressors are a great example of our new and most affordable paint level. Tournament Standard gets your army on the tabletop to a minimum paint standard required for tournaments. Base coat plus 2-4 base colors with a wash for metallics. No highlighting and not a lot of detail work, but a clean and great looking army to get you going at a very affordable price point.
If you like painting but are short on time, this is a fantastic way to have an army started for you, allowing you to do the fun parts of highlighting and detail work. Alternatively, you can get an army started at the Tournament Standard and then later when you have some more resources, you can send it back to us to be brought up to Tabletop or Tabletop Plus at a reduced price! Shoot us a quote request at: Painting@FrontlineGaming.org. Also, please note these example models feature level 3 basing which really sets them off.
The paint studio had some spare time to get more of the Primaris Project models painted, and here we have some tournament standard Primaris Characters!
For the Tournament Standard paint level, we aim to just get you on the tabletop and playing for an affordable price. These paint jobs are quick and affordable, and look more than good enough for playing a game at an event or with friends. They’re not meant to win you a best painted award but to get you on the table and playing without breaking the bank.
Now with characters, as they have so much more detail, we do paint more than the normal 2-4 colors on them so they look appropriately cool. Check some of these out. And, if you’d like to get a Tournament Standard (or any paint level) commission done with us, check out the FLG Paint Studio’s page! www.FLGPaintStudio.com
Yeah, the vehicles came out brilliantly. We really liked the hot rod style flames, that was a pretty cool new technique we tried out and it came out fantastically.
...
Might be the best painted eldar vehicles I have seen. Care to share how you did them?
I have to say, very slick idea on the "tournament standard" minimal paintjob option. I often tell people it's easy nowdays to cheat and get a simple painted army - between airbrushes, coloured sprays, dips, and grass tufts, and technical paints for the bases...there's not a huge excuse to "I don't like painting".
I think for the people who really despise even touching a paintbrush, something like the minimal tournament standard stuff should be a really cool idea. I suspect that idea/product line could do very well. I suppose there's a little risk involved porfolio-wise, but I think it'll do well for you guys.
@Red Corsair: I know, right? haha, they're quite good and a lot of fun. Glad you liked them!
The Adeptus Custodes commissions continue to roll through the studio! These beautiful miniatures have some amazing color choices and came out great. Consider the FLG Paint Studio for your next commission. #40k www.flgpaintstudio.com
Thanks! Yeah, we've done loads of AdMech commissions and everyone wants the mars look (understandably, it fits them perfectly) so we've gotten a lot of practice.
I can see why it’s popular! Looks like a thin layer of really watered down (glued down?) sand or that new semisolid basing stuff GW came out with. Very compact and clean.
Hey everyone, check out this awesome example of a Tournament Standard Tyranid army, painted by our very own FLG Paint Studio! www.FLGPaintStudio.com
The Tournament Standard paint level is what it says: it gets your models painted to a typical tournament standard of 3-4 colors and based. The reason it is so cool is because not only does it get you ready to go to an organized play event without any extra effort on your part, but it does so at a very reasonable price point. And, if you so desire, you can go back at a later date and do some detail work on the models yourself if you enjoy that, or send them back to us to have us bring them up to a higher level of painting.
These armies look good, too. You don’t sacrifice quality. The primary difference being we don’t invest the time into extensive highlighting and low-lighting (thus allowing us to offer you the lower price point) but get you a nice clean base coat and your models based so that your army looks great on the tabletop at, again, a very reasonable cost.
Check out some more pics of Frankie’s “Aliens” themed Tyranid army! It is a very simple paint scheme but it looks awesome on the table and has been based with some really cool custom bases (this would be level 3 basing) to really set them off. Frankie went with a flat grey/black and a lustrous black as his two primary army colors in keeping with the Aliens theme, with green or purple accent colors to make the models pop and silver for the teeth and claws. As you can see, the end result is simple, but clean and as an army viewed on the tabletop during a game it looks awesome.
Here’s the entire army in one of our collapsible display trays with mat! The mat is Infested Spaceship 1, which the army has been based to match. When you play the army on this mat it looks awesome, they feel like they belong there.
Here are some more examples of a Space Marine army painted to Tournament Standard.
Check out these Primaris Dark Angels recently painted by the FLG Paint Studio!
Consider us for your next commission. This is a sexy Tabletop Standard project which looks awesome with level 2 basing and decals added, which doesn’t break the bank, either!

Not bad though - others are just better.
Well that all depends on price though. I always see folks get critical of commission work but the fact remains that without knowing what the customer asked for, or what they paid for, it is hard to judge value on the work done.
With that said, generally I'd suggest doing a brief write up along with an army and give a quote on the value of the work completed so folks can see all this transparently. Some folks would be turned away from the prices sure, but then they were never going to be a customer form the start. Much better to just break down work completed for X value, this way people don't assume standards and quality are a crap shoot but rather a direct result of what the customer was willing to pay OR wanted (some folks ask for strange things, I have done some bizarre commissions myself, even some I refused to do).
Some nice work in here. Happy to see people have been buying into the "tournament standard" stuff --- has it been a good seller for you? I feel like it's a smart move as a commission team.
Yeah, a lot of people aren't looking for the "best" paint job, they're looking for a good paint job they can afford. Our studio can do anything from bad ass display pieces to the minimum Tournament Standard based on the client's budget. Glad you like it.
Here are some Tabletop Standard Sisters of Silence with level 1 basing which is a very affordable paint job that looks great for game play.
Here are some more Tabletop Standard commissions painted by the www.FLGPaintStudio.com with level 1 basing. This is a very affordable paint standard that looks good on the Tabletop (thus the name!) that doesn't break the bank.
The FLG Paint Studio recently completed this miniatures painting commission consisting of Catachan Jungle Fighters of the Astra Militarum!
This is a Tabletop commission with basing ranging all the way up to level 3. Tabletop commissions look great but are also very affordable. Consider us for your next commission.
Shots looking better.
You moved the light more frontal and down. Good move.
Some of the medium size + large minis look sharp and nice exposure. You can even sweep the gray background farther back so the light falls off more and gets moodier darker background. Once you move into single minis your blocking alot of that bounce light up front.
Yo that blue Knight with the orange stripes is amaze ballz
@Reecius: phenomenal work on these minis brother- quick question (and I totally understand if you cant divulge trade secrets and all ) but any chance of getting the list of reds used on those Exorcists? The depth of the red on that primaris tank blew my mind man.
I actually do not know off of the top of my head what colors were used but I will try to find out for you. Yeah, it really came out beautifully with that deep red.

I just recently had some work done through them hopefully the pictures will be posted here!
Yeah, exactly. You pick the level. Some are bare-bones 3 colors and based as Lynk said for a very affordable price point, some are display quality at a higher price point. It just depends on what the client wants and what their budget allows for.
