They have mentioned several other factions that they have in the works although CMON did say that it's very unlikely to get another full faction in the kickstarter but may see a few units from a new faction that can be used as mercenary units with the existing two factions.
I just found out that there is no Line of Sight in this game. "Buffs" for defense are essentially given by the inclusion of your heroes, a strategic choice in spawning.
that piece of information has doubled our interest. LoS in Dust Tactics makes my head hurt.
I've just had another look at the KS comments section and it's degenerated into (yet another) bunch of nastiness about Trenches, hitler jokes & swearing
I fear KS themselves may have to wade in with the banhammer again
Hercule Pyro wrote: Despite the white noise in the comments section, I did glean that they are working on a new gameplay video. So that might be fun to see.
Yeah, they are supposed to have the 2nd gameplay video up later today. That comments section has been nasty from the start pretty much. Seems to be centering around a few people but they post about 1/3 of the comments over there. Oh well, game should still be pretty awesome, though we'll know alot more after the 2nd video. CMON has hinted pretty hard that planes will be in this KS and when they showed how cards worked you could see some of them had air attack ratings, so hopefully they will release some air related stretch goals next.
I hope the person making the racist comments has his posting privileges removed especially after not apologising when called up on it.
It's a shame that the comment section has gone that way, past CMON kickstarters have had a few issues with the comments pages but on the whole they remained a good place to discuss the project and catch up on anything that you may have missed.
CMON seem to be trying to make a distraction. I'm sick of reading posts by that backer in particular he has posted 10% of the comments and none of it is worth while and now these latest comments have caused offense and he can't seem to see it just passes it off as a joke.
New Goals - the 2 heroes will not have plug versions
Art book is not my cup of tea, but everyone has been asking for it, so its good that CMON is listening. Like the new heroes, especially the pigeon guy.
I honestly think he was just trying to make a joke, but it was a pretty bad one, and everyone on there is already fed up with him as he posts non stop all day every day. Either way he "meant it", the KS comments section probably isn't the place to make jokes about stuff like that, if there is a place at all.
Yeah, think it was a joke just a bad one but when someone asked him to apologies he said that they were lacking a sense of humour and linked anger management courses which was completely the wrong thing to do.
squall018 wrote: I would hate to have to play a game of Rivet Wars with the guy.
Even if you were playing on his 7 level bridge over no-mans land with trenches and buildings and cool stuff table?
Well... maybe with a 7 level bridge
In all seriousness though, the game is coming together pretty well, and I'm very pleased so far. But I wish they would just go ahead and show us the planes/air units. I'm almost certain they have them ready, and it would really help boost some pledges. Then again, they seem to know what they're doing, so maybe I should just wait and let it happen.
As long as the stretch goals that keep rolling in are a majority free Blitz stuff or core box upgrades I'm not complaining - even if it's not exactly what I'd want.
I'm really surprised, and pleased, so far that they've kept such a minimal number of optional extras.
Also - surprised KS doesn't have an "ignore user" function.
It never occurs to you that there might be a rivetwars.com but one day you try it and bam! it works.
And there's some neat stuff there, like a two part comic, concept artwork, and pictures of M3 tanks.
Not the final product from my understanding. But it's interesting that these pictures were under Toys and Minis section. Wonder if that means we can expect Rivet Wars toys.
Considering there is going to be an expansion later with the k-9 hounds, more heroes and other units, will it be just as easily to procure most of the Blitzkrieg level "bonuses" fairly cheaply from discount sites later?
In other words, if speaking in terms of say Miniature Market prices, is the blitzkrieg level really a super great deal?

Kind of depends on how they package their expansion I guess
A last checker for Blitz clocked at $325 supposedly (with the last blitz items added being Patston Mech and Romler Car so not including the dogs) so at a usual MM discoutn of 25% off that would be $243.75. Of course as said that depends on how they would package expansions and also depends on what parts of the blitz you want. If you're just aiming for some of the units like the dogs and not the whole shebam then maybe places like MM will be a better spot
Spoiler:
1 Game ($100 value) The Vet and plug ($15 value) R100 and plug ($15 value) Babygirl and plug ($15 value) Man in Charge and plug ($15 value) 1 extra Ostrich tank ($20 value) 1 extra Sturmpanzer ($20 value) Faction patches ($5 value) Custom dice ($10 value) 24 extra infantry ($30 value) 4 Mountaineers and 4 Trench Raiders ($30) 8 extra cavalry ($20 value) Patston in Walker ($15 value) Romler in Scout Car ($15 value) Total value = $325 (so far)
That's something I was sort of wondering about as well. If most of the stretch goals are expansion stuff - so we get a bunch of that now.
Then the expansion comes out and it's one big box (Like say Caverns of Roxor for SDE) it has all the stuff from the Blitz expansions + 2-4 more things that weren't made for the Kickstarter - so you have to buy it anyway, even as a Blitz backer. = Not a very happy backer.
Maybe I'm wrong to compare it to SDE so much, but it's really the most comparable product that I can think of. And I see the expansions being much the same way. [Expansion a) adds a whole third faction, expansion b) sea units for all factions, expansion c) terrain and objectives, etc]
I don't think we'll be buying boxes of stuff that's like 2 tanks for the Blight faction.
I think you guys are both making some good points.
I want to know what is going to be in the expansion.
I wonder how many players are just going Eastern Front for $90 to get the game early with a few perks. It's too bad the infantry is not doubled at that level. I foresee having to buy more of them if limited to just the starter box.
I can't see why. The core game has everything you need in it. In the testing mission they were deploying at most four infantry a turn, and given they die rather easily, you'd be recycling them at a steady rate.
Apparently the term "vehicle" isn't set in stone, because they are just mobile artillery/support weapons. So far.
Regardless, I'm hoping we get a few more stretch goals today, as right now we only have the art book and Captain She's Honestly Not Michael Jackson for those who bought one of the optional heroes. It's always nice to have something else to shoot for. Also, a new video should be arriving sooner rather than later.
I asked them, and it looks like they are going to offer the mine fields, barbed wire and tank traps as add ons. I see some of these on 40k tables soon.
I reckon the next key goal will be set at $300 and given the sneak peek on the art work I am hoping for the man portable gyrocopter doodad (the helicopter may be too much but likely in the expansion box).
I wondered about "biplanes" as well and the requisite "Baron" or "Biggles" hero plug to go with them
I like what I am seeing so far and look like having plenty of toys from the Blitzkrieg package, so I can leave off worrying about the expansion box and new factions till later.
Now if CMON would get that Comments page sorted -it does not sell anything for them as it is
wilycoyote wrote: A full 3d board is a bit too much for know, but like Super Dungeon Explore watch for a new kick starter for plastic trenches.
However, given that it is all straight lines, it would not be too hard to come up with a DIY 3d board.
Sad planes look a mite away , bit looks like at least another 4 stretches are ready to go if we get there.
I wonder if a full 3d board would even help their purpose. To me going full 3d might bring this game too far away from "boardgame" and too close to "wargame". From the rules the I have seen so far, this is an extremely simplistic ruleset, and making it appear more like a wargame might hurt it in comparisons.
That said big props to whoever came up with this for the solid art direction. They definitely captured the style they wanted.
Latest update inventories the Blitzkrieg! rewards. Good deal indeed.

I think what is next is going to be really important for how this KS finishes off its last week.
I am liking what i see so far, but the rumblings over duplicate figures and a second boxed set by proxy are holding this back.
I believe a second new tile set would help as it gives a definate purpose to having these extra figures, ie extra board space - the attrition rates in the demo seemed to show that all the extras might not be needed.
Probably need another freebie, seems a lot a "backers" see it as their right to just accrue free stuff and not buy any extras, so there is a need to keep them in as well as touting for new ones.
One big factor at the moment is that CMON sort out he Kickstarter front page, it becomes more and more confusing as they add in stuff. It is far easier to keep up using the updates page. At the moment the front page does not grab the attention as much as it did a few weeks ago.
Last run to the end now and hopefully it will get to the end (£500k). still looking good value when it turns up in September (or thereabouts).
Unable to post images as on my phone but a new update has been posted with new stretch goals (including first aerial unit). They are going to fill in some of the gaps between the goals later.
Yeah - I'm not sure what the helll is with all the mal-content backers on this one. I've never seen such a bunch of big whiners.
CMON has for Rivet Wars:
Added a ton of stuff to the core box
Given a boatload of freebies to Blitzers
Added VERY few optional buy-ins. And the ones that do exist are generally really good deals.
a) 4 tanks for $20? Soon to be 6!
b) 4 different tanks, again for $20
c) 2 heroes - $10
d) Rocketeer hero +plug =$15 (this is the only one not a great deal IMO)
As of this moment an "all-in" pledge is only $215 - that's very low. (A hell of a lot lower than KD:M, or Relic Knights or Dreadball or pretty much every big KS) I'm sure it will creep up a little more before the campaign is over - but they've shown admirable restraint when it comes to additional purchases IMO.
Normally I don't back a KS till the final 2-3 days, but I pledged today and am really looking forward to getting this. I think I'm going to re-play Advance Wars on my DS too.
cincydooley wrote: So I'm clear, I need to purchase the Rocketwer, Cher Ami & King of pop Frost, and the M3 Verticals separately, correct?
Yes.
The only side purchases at this time are the:
M3 Vert. Tank and Lanskriegers (2 of each, soon to be 3) = $20
M7 Boss "tank" (and soon to be added Doomwheels) (2 of each) =$20
Cher Ami and Elsa Frost = $10
Rocketeer (+plug) = $15
There are other extras you can add - but they are just all duplicates of stuff you get in the core box/blitz pledge.

Dayum. Good call. Forgot the M7 didn't come in the base box.
Someone made a good point the extra Vert tank and Landskrieger stretch goal is called Supercharge 1 so there's a possibility of Supercharge 2 as one for the goals between $335k and $400k which might just apply to the M7 BOSS and DoomWheels?
EDIT $310k passed 2 Doom Wheels added to any M7 BOSS purchase
Missed a bit on the Red Baron he ships Q1 2014 so they are moving into a second shipping phase for the aerial stuff
Hmm... the first Stretch Goal that would make me reduce my pledge. Yes I'm serious, if this one gets through I'd remove the pledge for the extra set of tiles. I don't want three sets... or do I???
BobtheInquisitor wrote: So, let me get this straight: the only way to buy ANY optional extras is to pledge Blitzkrieg first?
I've asked a few times and sent a message to the KS creators and still have not received a definitive answer from them.
Obviously I'm no authority on this, but I believe that is true based solely on the image provided which reads Blitzkrieg Only.
CMON wrote:To get optional items: Just add the appropriate amount to your pledge. We'll sort it out after the Kickstarter ends with our pledge manager.
They don't specify that on the description for adding optional items. So either the image is wrong or the description is.

I dunna understands! You wanted more tiles but if they throw in more stuff at the same price point, you'll drop the item? /aneurysm
Dentry wrote: I dunna understands! You wanted more tiles but if they throw in more stuff at the same price point, you'll drop the item? /aneurysm
Really not that hard to understand.
1. I want an extra set of tiles.
2. They offer an extra set for $15.
3. I buy extra set for $15.
4. They then go and make a Stretch Goal that includes an extra set of tiles.
5. I no longer need to buy the extra set, should the goal be met.
6. I reduce pledge remove the extra set of tiles I no longer need as I'm getting the extra set anyway thanks to the Stretch Goal being achieved (assuming it is achieved).

They have some images that say "Blitzkrieg only" and some that don't. The vertical tank and BOSS add-ons don't say it on the image, but there is still a lack of clarity, and I don't want to throw $40 or more away.
Any kind of straight forward answer would help, but it has been DAYS and they haven't fething responded.
I have no idea then. It doesn't make sense for them to limit it to Blitzkrieg backers only.
Did you email them at kickstarter@coolminiornot.com or contact them through kickstarter? Maybe you could ask in the comments section if you haven't already.
I think the issue is that the additional purchases are Blitzkrieg only, the images lower down are really part of the description of what you get rather than allowing these extra items to all.
In one sense it does make sense if they want to manage the initial run. By saying the core box is set in stone, any pldeges at the $90 range get just that , easy to pack and deliver. To reward the larger pledgers the additional items are made available now, but to this limited audience. Simplifies things for CMON, because as this ends next week they will know by end of February at the latest what the need to have in pace to fulfil the Kickstarter promises. Gives them 6 months to get it sorted.
I think that the extras will be available but probably not at such a sweet price - online discounters not included.
The Omega Terrain pack is confusing, given the earlier add ins for Tiles and Terrain - I will wait to see this clarified, but given the extra figures etc, it seems a must buy -= especially for 2x2 games
The downloadable campaign makes this look better all the time.
Now I need to recalculate my gaming budget for the year.
Hi all, signed up here to help escape the trolls in the KickStarter comments (I figure if anyone is immune to whining about stuff not being a good enough deal it's GW customers.)
Very happy to see things starting to pick up again, especially the decals (which I'll gladly claim credit for until they explicitly say they were already planned.) Not so excited by Rollergirl, although all the heroes are bonus, so no complaints. Still really hoping for Blackadder and the gang before all is over, if not I'm going to be forced to create a conversion kit for them.
Aeneades wrote: Judging by a CMON comment earlier today it looks like they may add new sculpts to existing units as stretch goals,
That would be fantastic - 1 new sculpt for infantry (bringing them to 4) and 1 for Cavarly (to 2) would be aces.
It doesn't seem like artillery/big tanks will be fielded in large enough #s to really warrant it. (Though it'd be great if maybe turrets and whatnot were moveable).
I noticed the allied plane in the mock and also Ted's comments on a standard canopy and plugs. Looks like there may be a lot more to come from the air expansion.
Hopefully if the KS funds it all they to the end of the Air Expansion, we can look forward to new factions sometime next year.
Like a big kid - I haven't had my dinner yet and dreaming of pudding
It's at $342k now, so we should see some new stretch goals tomorrow. Anyone have any guesses?
I'm going with -
A fourth sculpt for each of the basic troops at 360.
One new hero for each side (no plugs) at 375.
Anti-aircraft plugs for the tanks at 385.
I'd pledge for Ruska and Ottoman factions tomorrow if they started a new KS, so I hope there aren't any setbacks in manufacturing or shipping this one and we get more factions ASAP.
wildger wrote: The miniatures surely are attractive. Anyone has any concerns about game play?
Gameplay seems pretty solid. Its pretty basic, and not too deep. Its a fast fun game it seems. You can see two gameplay videos on the KS page. I think it would be a great way for people to get into board games, and the cool minis are a plus.
Yes, the gameplay looks straightforward and at first glance looks like there is little more than chucking a lot of dice - especially if you watch the first demo game.
I suspect there is quite a bit more when you add plug/hero upgrades and we get more varied scenarios than line up and charge - hopefully for a change some will be asymmetric scenarios.
I am looking forward to a good time with this one and it should appeal to my non wargaming buddies as well
And this rounds out our list of canon heroes from the expansion!
Lt. Edwina Brasseldun
Lt. Edwina Brasseldun, or the groundhog as her friends call her, is happier six feet underground than anywhere else on Rivet. Brasseldun is a subterranean engineer who cut her teeth working in the Timonium Spice mines. She is the foremost expert on underground transport and deployment. With her hit and run tactics she can tip the balance of any fight in her favor.
Baron Munchen
Not much is known about Baron Munchen. No one has ever see his face and it is not even certain if he has a face. The glowing liquid in his helmet conceals any hints that there might be a man inside. Some say he is the result of experiments gone wrong while others say he would be dead if not for that suit of his. What is known is that Munchen's suit makes him tough to kill. Artillery rounds have leveled dozens of his personal guard only to leave Munchen standing seemingly unscathed.
Lt. Mcleod
Mcleod is a man that other men look up to. He is a commander who is always with his soldiers and will always be found at the front of a charge. Hailing from the Northern tip of Brighton, Mcleod will lead a charge by playing his grandfather's ancient bagpipes, lifting the spirits of those around him. It is said that the sound of his pipes can keep a man on his feet when on all accounts he should be down for good. You'll march far and well with Mcleod in your ranks.
Like 6 free heros and two free turrets in a span of $50k - with still very little in the way of paid add-ons. (Though I think I might go for $10 for 2 more turrets).
If we hit this stretch, we'll tool these nifty damage markers so you can easily see how much damage or what effects a unit is suffering from! All games upgraded!
Additional sculpt of Trench Raiders and Mountaineers, get a little more variety in your Blitzkrieg and additional options! If we hit this stretch, they'll come in an even mix of 50/50 each.
Dr. Vorne With the resources of Rivet growing ever more scarce the Blight are attempting to harness the incredible power of the atom. Leading this charge is Dr. Vorne, a physicist who wears the scares of his many failed experiments with radiation and nuclear energy. He is well known to the allies for unwittingly pulling Atomic Robo into the world of Rivet, though even Vorne is not certain how that happened. Though possessing great power, Vorne can sometimes be as dangerous to the Blight as he is to the Allies
And I must say, the Dr. Vorne character looks flat out awesome.
I like Dr. Vorne but I think I'll have to paint him with a red Skull not a bluegrey one! The wound markers are a nice solution but they are only really relevant for larger pieces - tanks and the like multi wound pieces so it's a bit odd to show them on an infantry base.
DaveC wrote: I like Dr. Vorne but I think I'll have to paint him with a red Skull not a bluegrey one! The wound markers are a nice solution but they are only really relevant for larger pieces - tanks and the like multi wound pieces so it's a bit odd to show them on an infantry base.
Ted said that the infantry will still include them as they may be used for other purposes in the future (with a different colour marker). He gave possible examples of Shields, Healing or Radiation.
Now here's a nice add on added at backers request 12 troops 6 of each for $15 they are designed to go with Baron Munchen and Lt McCleod but they just use normal infantry rules - no special rules just alt. miniatures. These are not KS exclusives so they will be available later.
I'm pretty sure the air package will be an expansion down the road, so I think I'm gonna hold off till it comes out retail. Already have too much tied up in this. Does look awesome though.

I'm considering the same. It's a full year out and I don't want to spend too much more than the $200 I'd budgeted.

I agree, since it is delayed gratification. I'm considering dropping one of the hero packs (the one with the female Blight Michael Jackson look-alike) and perhaps dropping a few other things to get the air package. I just wish I knew how much it was going to run MSRP later. ALso thinking of passing on the Jet packer -- my gf loves him but it is $15 for one figure (albeit, exclusive).
Plus we've already reach the last stretch goal this morning! So I'm ecstatic about what we have and I, too, need to keep a realistic cap on things. We shall see how my resolve holds out over the next day.

Get double the Turret fun for $10 if we hit this stretch!
The Battle of Brighton gets an upgrade with 2 Hero Plugs if we hit $470k!
Volker Hawken The son of a famous pilot, Volker was destined to be a great flyer. As a child he was given a half scale skiff glider which he trained on daily. After graduation from the Blightun Military Flight Academy, Volker was assigned to the front as a fighter pilot. Within months he was thrice decorated for outstanding heroism. There is a Blight saying that any flying machine becomes more deadly with Volker at its controls.
Charles Yooger Chuck was raised in the cornfields of the Eastern States of Brighton. His first job was flying an old crop duster for local farmers. When the call went out for pilots, Charles was the first in line to sign up for service on the Nante front. His years of flying between corn silos paid off quickly as he scored kill after kill against the Blightun air offensives. This is a pilot without fear who is always ready to dive his plane into action!
Weirdly I'll be reducing my pledge by $10 if we hit the double-turret stretch (I wanted 2 of each, not 3). I hope there's a double AA vehicle one next!!!
Yay - double turrets - I just added $10 to my pledge*
yesterday for them! 3 seems like a good amount to have.

Pfft - 3 is where it's at. That way you can have 2 ground turrets and use the third for anti-air defense.

That would leave you with a singe set of turrets because it is a purchase upgrade streachgoal, not a blitzkrieg upgrade streachgoal.
And after some confirmation by CMON the supercharge 3 affects the free turrets at blitzkrieg, despite what the graphics say.

Our souse of an artist is still in his pajamas but we can't wait!
Here are four (yes count em... FOUR) additional Kickstarter Exclusive heroes that we'll throw into the Blitz at $500k.
Terror Nova
"The Terror" as he's called is actually a quiet man by nature. Blessed with a natural ability to fight, Terror Nova was thrown into the spotlight as a hero of the allied forces. But he never reveled in this fame. He only wished to help the cause and do his part. His one true wish was that the war might end and he would be able to save his lost friend Minie so that the two might return to their homeland and live in peace
Cruel Minie
Born a frail and sickly child, Minie was confined to his home as a youth. This gave him time to read and study and improve his mind as his body remained weak. But Minie yearned to be strong, like his childhood friend Terror Nova. He wanted to show the world that he wasn't weak. Seeing the military as a place to show off his skills, Minie joined the war effort, but found himself blocked from any job of value. So when he got the chance, Minie secretly defected to the Blight where he was encouraged to pursue his passion to create machines of war. Now Cruel Minie is the head of the bureau of weapon efficiency and takes pleasure in improving the kill rates of all Blightun weapons.
And finally, the ol' Rivets behind the Eastern Front. You normally wouldn't see them on the front lines, except perhaps... for a Kickstarter outing.
Iron Chancellor
The Iron Chancellor is a man who does things by the numbers. He always has the same number of buttons on his jackets, the same number of buckles on his boots and the same number of rivets on his gauntlets. He brings this same attention to detail to his work overseeing the military production lines of the Blight. The Iron Chancellor coordinates the delivery of every engine, cannon, shell and even rivet that gets put into Blightun tanks. He is the genius behind the lines who keeps the Blight warmachine rolling along.
Uncle Rivet
For years Uncle Rivet was the headliner for a small time travelling rodeo show. Then one day General Patston attended a show and afterwards approached Uncle Rivet about helping with the war effort. Patston felt that Rivet's charisma and skill with a six shooter would captivate the nations imagination. Uncle Rivet could become the symbol of a unified allied force. But that wasn't enough for Rivet. He demanded he be put in the front lines where he soon proved his worth as a marksman and a leader. Now, between battles, Uncle Rivet tours the nations of the allied states boosting morale and production.
Thank you all, whereever your loyalties lie, Allied or Blightun, for an incredible Kickstarter campaign! We could not have done this without you!
Those two certainly seem like complete expansions. The rest of the non-exclusive stuff sounded like it was going to be divvied up between a couple other expansions, but in numbers and combinations to be determined.
Well I screwed up and slept on this. Has there been any word if you can still jump in during the pledge manager phase like was allowed after the Bones KS was funded?
Just got back from work about an hour ago and only now had a chance to see where this ended up. Really pleased to see it was well over the £550k mark and will need to have a think about stumping up for those Super heavies.
Pleased to see that the almost endless negativity from some quarters did not deter everyone. I cannot see the issue some had with duplicates. Effectively I will be getting a doubled up set (missing rules but presumably on pdf as well)for a knock down price, saving even more as my postage is not doubled to get it to the UK - other costs defrayed as well. Add to that the pimping out with the various heroes etc so great value.
BoB was initially a problematic choice, but by the time it arrives the potential for a standalone air game makes it a worthwhile bonus.
I for one am itching to get my grubby mitts on this in the autumn

From past experience, there are some vagaries in terms of timing when it comes to anything produced in China, such as:
Production delays
Shipping delays
Customs delays
We've done our best to minimize this as far as possible, and we are always happy to refund pledges if for some totally unforeseen reason the game can't be delivered at all. Since the game is 95% complete, we don't believe this is in the least bit likely - we've successfully delivered Zombicide and will be shipping Sedition Wars shortly, our first two Kickstarter projects.
We also have two other ongoing projects, Relic Knights and Guilds of Cadwallon that are both progressing on schedule - please refer to those individual project pages if you'd like to check the progress there. These projects are entirely independent of Rivet Wars - they have completely different development teams and have no effect on the production flow or development of Rivet Wars.
Strange they said "Ongoing", Relic Knights and Guilds have already been funded. Unless they mean late backers
i dont anderstand totaly this whit backing what should i give and what do i reciv?
Board Gamers don't care about the extra models anywhere near as much.
They wanted more detail on actual game play.
Not an excuse... I still think they have been too negative overall (and don't seem to be as well suited for crowd funding as rules are rarely fully thought through for these style games)
cincydooley wrote: Pick something. They're talking about how poorly it was run (huh?), how you there's no value in the Blitz level, etc, et al.
The whole campaign had alot of negativity around it. I think people are expecting too much out of kickstarters as the site is becoming more used and well known. I hope this isn't the start of a trend. I liked how the whole thing went and was lucky enough to get an earlybird at the beginning. Never thought of giving it up but I did have to stop checking the comments on the KS site because it was just sooooo ridiculous. Oh well, at least its over and now we can sit back and wait for all our new toys! (and tiles for some)
Well, I can understand the dissatisfaction in relic knights, it was really bad run, but this, not ti was not badly run, if nothing else it spawned alternative troops look the community wanted.
Yes they did not give wargame rules (really in a boardgame?) some people wanted and did not put ridiculous over-complicated terrain rules a few demanded, all to the better of keeping a boardgame a boardgame.
A lot of the adverse comments on BBG seem to come from people who expect kickstarters should be giving out shiny freebies at every point, hence the endless talk of duplication.
Also being in the middle ground between boardgame and wargame also meant a lot of critisism that it was not complex enough for a minis game and conversely boardgamers wanted to see the finshed rules - free on PDF was asked for at one point - during the KS. Instance, one constant poster declared he was sticking to Flames of War because it was more historically realistic..mmmm
Also there does seem to be plants on these KS now from rivals. I noticed the regular posts from the same posters, of its the same as Dust, but Dust tactics is much better supported in the clubs - yeh bad mouth something that will not hit a gaming table till this Autumn.
Personally, I do not care, the theme grabbed my attention, Ted's artwork is quirky and fun, but best of all I reckon my money well spent and look forward to plenty of good gaming for months out of this. That is even before we get anywhere close to making a tactical wargame out of it.
I guess I don't understand the lack of value argument. For $90 (the base, retail product) you get the 48 high quality miniatures, the plastic tokens, and everything else with the game.
Descent is $80, "only" comes with 39 miniatures, and has cardboard counters.
I just don't get it.
Ten there's those arguing that the Blitz level isn't a good value, ad I can't help but think they're a little nuts.

We just need two pieces of info from you, a good email address to get a hold of you at (might be different from your Kickstarter email) and how many Tilepack Omegas you'd like (if any), as these have the longest leadtimes.
Once we receive this info we'll pre-populate our pledge manager at https://ckpm.coolminiornot.com and send you the links to login in a few weeks - you will then be able to confirm all the options you want and pay for any additional items on top of that.
So if any'a y'all didn't get that E-mail it might be a good idea to do something about it quick.
No Rivet Wars for me - I had to not back something in Kickstarter!
Too many projects coming down the pipe...especially the oft rumored and hinted at Confrontation Phoenix one. Though the buzz on the actual rules for that one isn't good.
I'm about to pull my Krosmaster pledge too...
This one looks really good - I suppose I'll be picking it up at retail!
"the German dog is supposed to be painted as a german shepherd. I guess it looks a little like a doberman so you could paint it that way as well. The reason I went with the bulldog is that the allied dog would have been a modified version of the german dog, not an original sculpt from the ground up. And I felt it lacked character. Whereas the bulldog really says allies, at least to me. Maybe it's the churchill thing Also many people suggested it and it grew on me. The main reason is just to have a nice visual difference between the two. I hope you will enjoy this and understand. And wait until you see what I have planned for the Ottoman canine unit...but I shouldn't be talking about stuff like that now. "
That's all good. I just can't see a bulldog doing any "functional" work. Nor can I see a bulldog having any kind of useful purpose in wartime. He'd have made a cool attachment or something, but I wish they'd have gone St. Bernard or some sort of working dog.
Looked at it a few minutes ago and very disappointed I didnt know about it, I absolutely love the atomic robo so Im hoping someone will be up to trading one for the zombicide survivors when all that gets shipped.
Since I have no idea anything about it is there a retail release date attached to this yet?
The CKPM emails are going out. There is an error on the CKPM the alternate infantry that were unlocked are missing, as they haven't sent an update yet I'm sure they'll fix it before the official announcement. Guess I'll have to wait until they fix it.
Filled mine in. Couldn't remember what I spent the last $10 on, then I remembered it was the turrets (as they weren't included at the time). So that means I get 4 turrets... or 3... or something. Yay!
I just got an email telling me that I don't have access to the pledge manager and cannot use my pledge to buy add ons because I did not buy a blitzkrieg pledge. The email is from Ginger Minton, the exact person who told me I could buy the add ons individually before the campaign ended. To say I am pissed is an understatement.
I was planning to add a few other tchotchkes with the pledge manager, but now I think I'll wait for deep ebay discounts if I ever buy another piece of Rivet Wars crap again. I'm really tempted just to demand a refund at this point.
For anyone else who pledged for just add ons, I'm very sorry. I feel awful that I may have wasted your money as well.
Yes. I just sent it back to them and asked if it was still valid. I was just too upset to wait for a reply.
Honestly, I'm much more upset about having misled other people by posting here that it was okay than I am about losing the money. I really hate that they have retroactively made a liar out of me.

Hello Ginger,
Thank you for getting back to me. Do I need to add shipping or anything for shipping to a US address? Or do I just pledge, say $20 for the vertical tanks and $20 for the BOSS for a total pledge of $40?
Thanks,

Subject: Rivet Wars Kickstarter Question
Hello Cool Mini or Not,
For the Rivet Wars Kickstarter, which add-ons can I pledge for without pledging blitzkrieg? Are there any "add-ons" available to every backer? Please let me know, because I would love to support Rivet Wars, pledge a few tanks and characters now (to add to the game when I buy it retail), but I don't have Blitzkrieg-level funds to give.
Thank you,

This is the conversation. Have I been reading it wrong or something?
We've just completed a thorough review of the project and there are a couple of things we needed to adjust:
1. The plastic terrain won't fit in the core box - the whole thing becomes just too big to put on a retail shelf. All backers will still get the plastic terrain for free, but the retail box won't include them - they'll be available separately. What will be included will be a set of card counters as originally designed, and backers will get that as well.
2. The clip on damage markers are trickier than we expected, so we're doing some more work on the tool so that it will work better. The scope of the add-ons is adding more time than we anticipated, mostly in the moldmaking phase which needs to get done correctly. This means the schedule has to be revised:
a. Shipment 1 will only include the core box and possibly the plastic terrain, and will most likely complete production in October and will likely ship from our warehouses in November.
b. Shipment 2 will contain everything else, all the free items and optional items including the Battle of Brighton and the heavy tanks, and this will go out as scheduled in Q1 2014.
We apologize for the 2 month delay, but felt this was necessary in order to ensure that Rivet Wars you receive is a solid product. We'll update again as the project progresses.
As usual, if you have any concerns about your specific pledge, please email kickstarter@cmon.com and we'll get back to you in about one business day.
Sorry for the wait as we get our ducks in a row, here's the current fulfillment plan and schedule.
As you can see from the turntable, the models are looking very good indeed, although we needed to make some final adjustments. Production on the core game will be complete on November 15th, and we will be airshipping the Kickstarter units to our USA and EU warehouses.
Good news for our backers in Asia Pacific, the plan is to ship these out from China to reduce the long round trip time, so if you're in Australia, New Zealand, Singapore, Hong Kong, China, Malaysia, Indonesia or Thailand these will go out straight from the factory to you.
Assuming normal air freight timings, we should be able to begin shipping Rivet Wars before the end of November, but we'll keep you posted of any changes as well as pictures of the final production units.
This is the same plan as CMON/Soda Pops Relic Knights (also shipping in November)
An earlier post had also stated that the first wave will consist only of the core box & the terrain pack, and the terrain pack will not be included in the retail box (presumably they could sell it separately if the games a hit) and everything else will be in wave 2, along with the Battle for Brighton
Huuuuuuuge Update today from CMoN regarding Rivet Wars:
And
Rivet Wars is coming to life as we speak! We did, however, have an issue with cardboard components on some of the games not being punched through cleanly, and have asked for another round of QC and replacement where necessary.
It is not anything major, and will only cause a slight delay. It is a hard decision to make, as we want to give these games ample time to get in your hands before Christmas, but I am sure we are all on the same boat as to get this game as perfect as possible. We feel that while these issues are relatively minor, if we were ever going to address them, now is the time. We had a long chat with Ted, and we decided that it is only fair that we offer ALL the backers 2 new elite troops (3 of each in fact!) for your patience.
The Blight Plague Trooper is the result of one of Dr. Vorne’s biological experiments. These soldiers once exposed to the bio-agent lose their free will and suffer from horrible skin deterioration. But they also gain an incredible stamina and a single minded desire to destroy their enemies whoever they may be.
The Allied Clockwork soldiers were created to combat the Blight plague. These mechanical marvels cannot be infected by the plague bio-agent. Based on technology developed by Cruel Minie, before his defection, they have limited senses and are therefore only effective in close combat.
We do have good news on the second wave. The majority of the miniatures are already in molds and we have received production samples, which mean that we are actually ahead of schedule. All we are waiting for is some adjustment made on the air expansion, another round of approval and we are good to go! Here is a video of what we have in molds to date in addition to the core game.
So yeah. Really excited to get this before the holidays. Can't wait.
Were those the final colors those wave 2 figures were going to be molded in?
Having all the heroes in unique colors looked neat.
Reminded me of all the old Musclemen/ Kinkeshi guys I had way back when.
Those are the final colors, but I don't think they initially said they'd be like that. I actually like it because it'll help distinguish Heroes on the battlefield.
The most recent update (prior to that they announced the beginning of US shipping)
First we have good news for the E.U. backers. The forwarder already picked up the Kickstarter shipment flying to Germany on Dec 28th. Again, this is being air shipped so it should be a quick trip. As soon as that lands, clears customs, and arrives at our German facility to be picked up, we will update you.
As for the U.S. warehouse, packing continues, but there will be no more tracking number updates until the end of the day Thursday. This is because the post office closed at 12 noon today. Therefore we did not get a chance to drop off what we packed and Fed Ex is also not picking up today. So expect a lot of tracking numbers to get sent out by the end of the day on Thursday. If packing continues at this pace, we should wrap this up by the end of the week, fingers crossed.
On to Asia Pacific shipping. Sorry to keep you guys waiting, but we had to make sure, because this is the first time we are using this company for shipping. Backers from the following countries will be shipped directly from our Chinese facilities shortly after New Year’s:
1 Australia
2 Hong Kong
3 Indonesia
4 Japan
5 Malaysia
6 New Zealand
7 Philippines
8 Russia
9 Singapore
10 South Korea
11 Taiwan
12 Thailand
These packages are being prepared as we speak, so you should be seeing them soon!
We’re in the homestretch! We can’t wait for Rivet Wars to be in your hands so we can hear all about your battles for the Eastern Front!
Also, we've updated the previous video. We fixed the slight rules mistake that was made. Now this video is accurate to the rulebook and stands as a great example of how Rivet Wars plays.
We’re so glad you chose to back Rivet Wars, and so thankful for all your support! From the friends and families here at CoolMiniOrNot, please have a wonderful and happy New Year!
Latest update say everything is shipped and in the hands on the mail people, Fed EX etc, For me in the UK looks like the shipping from Germany will start from Monday (6th) on, so fingers crossed might get the goodies by next week but it will not be long now.
It also says Wave two is still on track for Quarter One, I take it with a pinch of salt but given this is mostly miniatures it is looking more hopeful than my other major KS, Robotech Tactics
Well, I got my shipping number, package is in the mail, and should be here sometime next week.
This was one of the first KS I backed. Been really looking forward to it.
Unfortunately I don't know how much game time it's going to get- it seems I have four or five other miniature heavy boardgames that are going to be arriving this month as well.
Just got my copy in the mail today. I'm at work ( I get packages sent here so I can sign) so I can't open it, but its pretty darn exciting. Box is awesome and was packed well. Can't wait to get into this tonight.
Got mine yesterday. Will start reading through the rules at lunch today. Can't wait to get in a game proper!
Naturally kids fought over who they wanted to play with. The Blight ended up having a battle in a prefab Deadzone city against Gnolls, Wolfen, Tyranids, and Disney Princesses.
My daughter took the Allies through a hellish battle in a Playmobil school against her Ponies, Playmobil school children... and oversized Japanese toy money.
Many shootey noises were to be heard amidst the yells and screams of the dieing.
I was wondering why the tiles weren't shown in that first unboxing video. Now I know. They warp, badly and instantly. Folks it's a fantastic game for all of about 30 min then nary a figure will stay upright. Good news is they make great decorative potato chip bowls!
Stay away from this one till CMON gets it's stuff together in a future printing, folks. Fantastic game, Stellar minis, crappy board required for gameplay. You're far better off with some graph paper if you really want it.
I think the announcement CMON did about the exceptional cold and the boards warping because of it was a clear indication some north america residents would receive warped boards.
PsychoticStorm wrote: I think the announcement CMON did about the exceptional cold and the boards warping because of it was a clear indication some north america residents would receive warped boards.
That's why I only say to stay away for now.. Wait for a new print run or warmer temperatures, can't hurt. It's a great game. And the minis are bar none.
Most people have gotten over the warping boards issues by placing them under heavy books etc for a couple of days.
The unboxing pictures and videos seem to show the cardstock is at least as thick as the Last Night on Earth boards and so it does not appear CMON skimped om materials.
Is this just a US issue due to the extreme weather?
My own concern is the lack of update on EU shipping, once I get the game then I can see for myself
My boards warped a bit at my parents' place, seem to be less on an issue in my own home (which is about five minutes away). Maybe they just play with the thermostat more?
Needless to say, my tiles are now getting crushed under decades of collected marvel comic hardcovers.
Game question for anyone else who's tried it- can opposing forces occupy the same grid?
Say I want to get my monowheel up in some infantry's faces. Is that legal, or do I need to still be one grid away? Could I park it right next to those guys in the same grid, which would possibly eliminate the chance for my opponent to fire onto that grid (since there are friendly faction guys in the grid), leaving me a prime chance to hack him up on my next turn?
Really looking forward to all the heroes coming out. Those guys are really going to mix gameplay up.

that's highly disappointing! funny how they are stacked and all shrink wrapped,... yet he still goes out of his way to say that they are not warping,.... how would you know??? shame.

That is a very biased and unfair statement. The tiles were all delivered straight and flat in every box, no exception. Once you open the seal, you should put them underweight for a few days for the tiles to get accustomed to the dry air and all the problems will be gone. The fact that they wrap right away means the problem can be fixed easily if they are treated immediately. Not such a bad deal. This is different from the GW's Space Hulk tiles which cannot be fixed.

See the problem with that is I bought two starter sets and tried the crack the seal put on weight and then wait a couple days. Still warped just as bad as the first set when the weight came off. So yeah the game is great. We switched to graph paper, so while not as aesthetically pleasing works fine and the game is incredibly fun. I still recommend no one pay eBay or retail price untill the board issue is fixed.
Looks like us European backers won't be getting our copies anytime soon - tied up in Germany apparently even though the game is marked 14+ the parts look like childs toys so they are insisting that they apply for and get a CE mark if they can't convince the authorities otherwise they will have to go throught the CE application process and can't distribute the game until it meets the CE standards which could involve a redesign of some parts worst case.
Creator CoolMiniOrNot about 1 hour ago
The German customs is demanding a CE marking when Rivet Wars is clearly marked as 14 and above. This is an error on their part, and we are correcting them.
-David
further info apparently they have a CE cert for a 14+ game they now have to convince the German authorities that this is not a childs toy despite the design and packaging

Rivet Wars looks very toy like. But let me clarify, we did CE testing, and there is currently a CE 14+ on the box with the proper documentation. What they are asking for is documentation for kids toys which obviously is not necessary. But we are working on it and we are confident that we will get it resolved.
Honestly did somebody at the customs had really too much time in their hands AND was feeling he/ she had to vent their frustration of life/ job/ whatever, on the first thing they saw?
No, I'm referring more to every Kickstarter seems to run into silly snags with customs in the EU or Canada. That Rivet wars has the CE14+, but being asked to prove it is not a toy falls under the silly category in my book.
Triple9 wrote: Canadian and EU customs seems like very serious business. They must hire very humorless people.
There is never any issue with Canada customs for Rivet Wars. All Canadian backers have received theirs a week ago.
That was a generalization, not specific to rivet wars. I see a lot of gripes about Canadian customs on other kickstarters. Figured I'd mention them before someone else did.
I heard a lot of stories as well for Canada customs. It depends on what type of informations the sender give. The more information provided, the worse it will be.

I actually read your comment wrong... Sorry about that.
Most countries in the world are alot more concerend then the USA with what gets shipped into them.
Yeah, I don't see the need for nerd rage here... it's reasonable of them to say "these look like they're for children, are they appropriately CE marked?". Hopefully, the explanation sorts it and they're able to clear customs, but having customs ask about it makes sense to me.
Project Update #72: EU Update
Posted by CoolMiniOrNot ♥ Like
We have great news for all of our EU backers! We were informed that the container of Rivet Wars was released by customs, and has already been received at our shipping partner's facility! The container arrived late in the day on Thursday, and our partners, knowing how important it was to start getting boxes out to you guys, shipped as many boxes as they could today.
Since they didn't know the container would be released today they hadn't made special arrangements to ship huge quantities. Those arrangements were made today and EU should start shipping out tomorrow. So backers should start receiving tracking numbers at the end of the day tomorrow, or Monday. As the EU is 6 hours ahead of us we will most likely not have any updates over the weekend. We'll be back and posting updates on Monday (EST) as soon as we receive more information.
As for Asia Pacific, we haven't heard anything yet, but we did send a message to our partners today. We will have an update for you as soon as there is an update, which will likely be tomorrow. Thank you for your continued support!
Most EU shipping is underway. I see they've changed from UPS to DPD for these deliveries suits me the DPD depot is only 5 minutes from me
Update #73
Jan 17, 2014
Another EU and APAC Update!
We were informed today that almost all of our EU backers’ boxes were shipped out by our shipping partners! Since we’re using a logistics company to put packages into deliver, tracking numbers are generated a little bit differently. Basically they generate a list of the tracking numbers after their system has closed, in other words once the computer realizes there will be no more shipments that day. In this case that list will be generated tonight, however no one will be at work to send us that information until Monday. So, on Monday there will be a huge amount of tracking numbers released. The bad news is there are no tracking numbers today, but the good news is the packages are already on their way!
Asia Pacific, we heard from our shipping partner that they had made special arrangements with Fed Ex to handle the large amounts of packages they were sending out. That deal started today. So you should start receiving tracking numbers on Monday or Tuesday.
As you can see, everything is finally falling into place and it is still a much faster process than shipping boxes from the U.S. Thank you for your patience and support! And as you can see from the reviews, Rivet Wars is well worth the wait!
Well once they cleared customs last Thursday night , I am really chuffed it has only taken a few days but I have it here in the UK now.
The quality of the minis is top notch - one minor quibble with a slightly bent MG barrel, but easily sorted. probably some of the best first time casts I have seen in a KS, no flash, ugly mold lines or Mantic's issue snapping of a sprue. Seriously impressed.
The boards are not as thick as expected but thick enough, no warping so far, but putting them under heavy books anyway for a few days.
If the quality is maintained this is going to be a humdinger of a game to get into. BoB will be amazing so what will be on offer when the Ruskis arrive?
Brief bit about the Western Front taken from the CMoN forum
"The next thing we'd like to do is the Ruska (Russian like) and the Ottoman (Turkish like). Right now the thinking is to make it more urban combat like a Stalingrad type thing. Buildings, rivers, bridges, etc. We have tried some really cool ideas and have lots of things we'd like to do with this next round of minis/games to expand the rules and the world. Visually I'm really excited by these two factions and the powers their heroes could have. Also this'd be great if you had an Eastern Front core box and your friend then got these "Western Front" sets. You could combine them for some massive battles! And I've always felt more factions means more choices, variety and fun.
For now I'd like to keep the factions based on historical armies and nations. And trying to keep the tech somewhat believable and functional, turn of the century looking. But of course that slider can move depending on the faction. The Ottoman so far have a very classical ornamental look to their stuff contrasted with the stark hard edge and punched metal look of the Ruska." -Ted
Retail shipping for the core box was supposed to be happening now so it should not be too long.
Wave 2 with all the extras and the aerial expansion is a good ways off yet for retail sale but hopefully us lucky KS's might see it in April - fingers crossed
Hmm... I thought the planes and super-heavy tanks (plus any very late stretch goals) were phase 2, not "everything that isn't the boxed game". Guess I was wrong.
Latest update says they still have to manufacture the Battle of Brighton stuff (planes) after Chinese new year so it's doubtful this will make Q1 but early Q2 (April) is very possible.
Still, I would've thought that a lot of the extras - especially the extras that are just duplicates of items from the boxed game - would have come in phase 1. Seems odd that they didn't.
So those must be the Zombi Blight/Robo-Allied bonus units we're getting due to that 1 week delay? Nifty!
And I understand why they didn't ship the terrain - it doesn't fit in the box; fair enough - but not shipping the duplicate items is a bit of a pain especially considering we know they're complete.
From what I remember most of the duplicate items are actually going to be different sculpts. Additionally it's much quicker to pack one thing (The boxed set) at a time.
I've played this a bunch of times since I got it and honestly I've never found myself short models to deploy. Yeah I may not always have enough of a certain type of vehicle to deploy but I alwyas had enough stuff to deploy.
Wow. This really sucks, I really hoped they would not go Zombiecide on this one with the super exclusive chase figures that go for hundreds on eBay. But, there it is. The underproduced white whale figures begin.

Not true at all, sadly.
"Retail stores can order directly from ACD distribution. I am not sure how it works, but as far as I know, they got a fix number of Treasure Hunters, and they either give away one per box game purchased or tag on a nominal fee. Beyond that we have a small amount left for give-aways at conventions that we are attending. Just like we have no plans on selling any KS promos directly, we don't have plans to sell any retail promos either."
I hate exclusives. I too really hope they don't pull that crap. At the very least make him available via KS, or through CMON's webshop.
CMoN's exclusives have never been that hard to get. Which makes me really scratch my head when I see the prices some of it goes for on ebay.
For the longest time you could get all of the Zombicide Season 1 exclusives through them at any convention they went to. It cost more to do it this way then if you had just gotten it through KS but it was considerably less then buying it on ebay.
If your really having a hard time tracking something down, why not post about it here? I'm sure there are quite a few people going to conventions that CMoN will be at that could help you out. It's what I did at Templecon for some other people.
