I don't play Tau, but like the range a bit - anybody care to share the ballpark points of that box?

It depends mostly on how you kit out the crisis suits, but bare bones is around 250 points. Well kitted out for the whole box, with nothing crazy, I'd say around 300 points.

Apart from the Tech-Priest who you only get a basic statline. Still, formation looks like a good way to get Canticles without having to use the War Congregation...

Received my box today. You get the instruction booklet from the boxed sets for the Onager and Skitarii, and the blister inlay card for the Tech Priest. There's also the formation card and a single sheet of Skitarii transfers.

That means you have the full codex entry for the Onager and Skitarii Vanguard/Rangers - stats and points cost. Special rules are listed but not all are described. Wargear options refer you to the Special Weapons table in the codex, but there are no gear descriptions or weapon stats.

The Tech Priest gets the bare stats for the model, no points, special rules or options.

Where'd you see this?

Not seen any rumours/images yet which has me surprised.

From the phrasing I assumed the back page of white dwarf, but whether it actually means more box sets or just white dwarf content I don't know. Given how many boxes they released in one go I'm not betting on more - I feel like if this were a waves thing they'd have done a few at a time.

Indeed. Can anyone confirm or deny this?

Not that I wouldn't be okay with more Starter Sets (about the only way GW would get money from me on Blood Angels models), but it seems weird they would do some, release Fyreslayers, then release more.

I'd like to see some more but I'd honestly only really be interested in a Beastmen, Dwarf, or Dark Elf one for Fantasy. Not sure there are any left I'd be interested in for 40k but they could give it a shot

Talys is correct, the teaser at the end of WD 102 does say New Year, New Army. So probably more starters. The Chaos teaser is probably fake.

Shouldn't we have WD leaks by now? Especially if there are more value boxes coming. I think it's pretty unlikely.

People were talking about a Harlequin set for pre-order earlier? According to google, it used to be a thing that existed, but no more, apparently.

What is/was listed as in it?

Wait... this?

That's pretty lackluster. I see why people were unimpressed. Some jetbikes, etc would have been a much better choice than the Codex. What else did they preview/advertise?

The sets that include an army book/codex are older and I don't even think they have any discount... It's the $85 deals you want! Hopefully they'll make them for every army eventually.

Settle down Choppa. Did I say it offends me?

It was just my understanding that people bought KOW models to play Fantasy as it was cheaper that way, and not the other way around.

You'd be more wrong than you think. Quite a lot of people use Citadel Miniatures (better models) with KoW (arguably better ruleset). Model price isn't always the issue.

They are older, but only by a week or two tops. They were still in the 'New Releases' section when the other (good) Get Started! releases were available for pre-order.

So I go my start collecting boxes today, 3 skitarii and a Marine box. These are pretty awesome. The only complaint i have is a criminal lack of decals in the boxes. You're basically stuck with the single sheet you get with the infantry squad of the box and nothing else, which for the skitarii is criminally tiny (maybe 2x3" tops)

Also, anyone else find it funny that the QR codes on the boxes do absolutely nothing? Apparently they're going to add painting guides or something later on I guess, not sure what else they'd do besides showing off other models the army has and explaining how you could integrate them into your army.

Picked up two Seraphon and one Tau. I also buckled and bought the 3 Horsemen of the Dollarpocalypse box. Skitarii were sold out, or I'd have bought two of those as well. Damn impulse purchases. I'd love to see more of them. The other AdMech and even the Sigmarines and Khorneboyz would be nice.

It seems like the New Year, New Army teaser was just a reference to the Fire Dwarf army. That is pretty crappy, since the previous use was army bundles.

None of the army bundles with the codex are worth it. Heck, I am hoping that two of those armies get new codexes anyway (Orks and Blood Angels).

Would any of you lads mind telling me what the AM or Admech formations do? I love these bundles, they're such an easy way to get a working force running without having to worry about what to get next

I think the AM one is something like "as long as your infantry unit is close to the leman russ they receive a 4+ cover save" or something like that anyway, I'm still waiting on mine being delivered :(

Would make for a pretty cool tactic, if you do it on masse. It brings to mind scenes in war movies (especially ww2) of troops advancing behind the cover of tanks. Would be pretty scary for your opponent to see 30 odd imprrial guardsmen advancing across an open board towards your army behind 3 leman russesuntil they get to rapid fire range.

Admech allows your vanguard and onager to reroll to hit a unit picked by the dominus. Dominus has to be within 18" and see the target at the start of the shooting phase in order for the ability to trigger.

Not bad at all. Load the vanguard out with plasma Calivers and go nuts.
