My experience with Conquest is that my credit card gets billed around about the last Thursday or Friday of the month, with the corresponding delivery arriving a week to 10 days later. Don't know if that's just to do with when I subscribed, though.

Potentially yeah it’s the date you chose, I received mine like a day or two after billing.

Also doesn’t help for the first delivery knowing, as there’s no charge for this one.

I’ll just wait and see what arrives or what updates people post here

Whats the long term availability of these in shops like?
There were loads of issue 1 on sale in the local magazine shop, but do they generally continue to stock each issue as they come out?
I'm not interested at all in the Stormcast so don't want a sub, but if I can get my hands on the nighthaunt and scenery that would be a bonus.

Issues 1 - 4 will be in most shops including GW stores.

After that, it's pot luck.

My hometown WH Smiths has had every issue of Conquest in, but I've never noticed them in other Smiths around the country.

After that, if you don't want the whole sub, look up Mortal Realms on Forbidden Planet. They will show the covers several months in advance so you can pick and choose the issues you want plus they charge £7.49 per issue (at least they do for Conquest).

Enjoy!

Chances are only stores that are selling off the shelf really well will get them. Those where they aren't selling much might not get any.

It might also be based on local subscriptions. If your local has no subscriptions then it might not get any stock even if all the copies sold off the shelf.

IIRC issues 1-4 are "sale or return", 5+ are "firm sale" so most newsagents won't carry it without it being ordered. depending on who their supplier is they may be able to get singles but easier to just order them from the likes of Forbidden Planet.

picked up three of issue 2 today, I wanted a pair and Mrs L asked for an extra one.

forgot how terrible those "starter brushes" are, not helped when whoever put the cap on bent half the bristles backwards on two of them.

still decent for painting base rims etc

I just use the starter brushes for texture paints and base coating lol.

Rather not use a good brush on stirrland mud.

tend to use cocktail sticks and a sculpting tool for that, but I think thats how two of the ones from Conquest ended up, the other two went to the sons of a friend, those brushes could only dream of being used for texture paints

I have picked up two copies of issue 2 at my local Tesco, and noticed they're well stocked both at this store and another, (Hornchurch and West Thurrock)
Have also done the elite subscription but not received this yet.
Will also chime in that these starter brushes are no good, but perfect for my two year old who can practice on the stormcast.

The lady at my WH Smiths thinks the return date for unsold issue one copies is round about the 5th Feb (otherwise they'll be charged for them),

so there's still time to grab them, but they will be going in the near future so don't miss out

I feel like my soon to be three year old would be no good at the hobby yet.
Two seems insane

I am unfortunate enough to work in retail and picked up 5 copies of issue 1 this morning after the magazine lady was packing them up ready for return. Add that to my previous 2, my one due from the subscription and that is 2 hefty blocks of 40 Chainrasps.

Also really enjoyed building the issue 2 Banshees today. They need the pegs trimming for a snug fit, can see these ladies being troublesome to those new to the hobby though.

The Facebook group for the partwork is hilarious though, basically a lot of people bemused by the lack of delivery thus far and bemoaning the customer service. Best to just sit back and wait.

got a few here, found on a few of the ETB models adding a bit of liquid poly to both sides of the join and waiting a few seconds softens the plastic and makes assembly a heck of a lot easier.

still waiting here, seems Hachette is changing who does customer service (thankfully, the South African call centre had a truly terrible line to it) and moving warehouse which may explain some of the details (Conquest subscriptions not sent out either)

I've suggested people trim the nubs down a bit(if not remove them entirely!) after experience with the Underworlds stuff. It seems to make things go waaaaaay better.

So issue 6 is the Briar gang.
Is that the Underworlds warband?
And if so, does anyone know, what else is needed to play, just the deck to go with it? Assuming I find someone who has the board and rules etc

I'd ordered 3 copies of issue 2 from forbidden planet and they arrived today. One brush had a cap (that wasn't on), the other two didn't have caps, and the bottom end of one brush was snapped but an extra part snapped off the bottom of another brush was included with it Glad I didn't buy them for the brushes! The sprues were fine thankfully.

Issue 3 is in the smaller packing without the backing card which is good as the card just wasted anyway

I still haven't had the first subscription delivery. Is that typical? I know there was that email about delays for most Hatchette products.

I think the Conquest one arrived for me about the same time as issue 4 hit stores. But then i've still not had Jan's Conquest or 2000ad.

Conquest doesn't show on the sub page as having been billled and 2000ad shows the 3rd but then i've had delay emails for both subs and Mortal.

Yeah mine was around 4 I think.

I never received the delays email for MR.
And it shows 14/1 next to the issues.

As to whether that means on the way or not, who knows..

That’s the case with all their stuff.
The big board is just to get the better visibility.

the big boards, which were double layers, would have been perfect to have a board printed inside

Post by: Danny76

Yeah very true.

I’m very torn with what to do on this Sub. I was decided on just dropping after the second delivery (so would have 1-6), as I don’t need/want more terrain or any of the paints etc.
So less worth it for the sub cost.
Would give me some models to try out Warcry with (though with Bloodbound coming that’s solved, as they are my only round bases fantasy models).
No AoS players about so no need to do a full army collection there..

Email received today regarding billing details needing updating to continue with Sub.
Says you should soon be receiving 1,2,Kit free of charge.

But then the link to do the details.
I’m hoping they have sent that first delivery already and aren’t waiting on my payment details, which are t necessary till a months time..

Delivery One arrived this morning.
Brush in issue 2 bent, not surprising..

Still waiting here, nice to know they are actually managing to send the things out at last though.

guessing the brush is bent to show you its crap and as a warning not to try and use it.

billing date of the 14th, mine was zero but Mrs L's was the cost of one issue, neither set have arrived yet multiple weeks later. Conquest was usually about a week post billing.

something of a farcical launch this so far

These starter brushes are one of those things that make me wonder why the company even bothers making them. Much like the hand dryers that are less effective than breathing on your own hands, as far as I can tell, these brushes are a total waste of materials, resources, time and money.

Warhammer Mortal Realms - AoS Partwork @ 2020/02/01 22:09:45

They’re kinda multi-purpose, so useful for teaching the three basic techniques without needing additional brushes.

Also handy for mucky jobs, like texture paint where you don’t mind messing the brush up a bit.

Yeah I do not hate free brushes. I own a fairly decent range of Windsor & Newton No. 7s but I reach for the free Citadel ones pretty regularly when I don't have to worry about being super neat.

Yeah they are better to have than not, as why not.
Just wish they would put the cap bit on all of them.
Half my Conquest ones had it, half didn’t.

Leopard, not that it helps I suppose, but mine was one of the free first deliveries.

oh it doesn't overly bother me, the stuff will turn up, eventually, using the time to work on the actual copy of Soul Wars I bought around Christmas plus the various copies of Issue #1 I bought.

Mrs L. doing similar, except shes actually built all her chainrasps, but painted a handful, I've built & painted 40, with another ten waiting primer.

nice models

the cruddy brushes are semi decent for base painting and for when various younger relatives etc. decide they want to try painting

have plenty of Sequitors spare as well

Have we had anyone look more into the models coming yet.
When I first looked at that picture, it didn’t look like it would spread over 80 issues particularly. Unless there’s other bits involved not in the picture.

Though I haven’t broken each model set down by Sprue yet..

this is the most detailed look from the (new) website which is also saying 80 issues

(based on conquest 1 in 4 will be paint which isn't shown , so the minis are over 62 issues not 80)

Warhammer Mortal Realms - AoS Partwork @ 2020/02/03 15:24:19

Post by: Danny76

Yeah they’re the same pictures as prior.
There’s not 60 issues there I don’t think, unless a lot more kits are split so it’s only half per issue etc..

Warhammer Mortal Realms - AoS Partwork @ 2020/02/03 16:30:21

Post by: DaveC

Depends how they split them. I could see the 3 Evacators on Dracolines taking 3 issues as they are individual sprues. Characters probably won’t be split unless bigger ones are. There’s some double ups and a triple up on the Soul Wars castigator sprue.

As best I can tell contents is as follows - NH are tricky to identify so I’m open to correction. Some sets are 2 half sprues so far they have been packed unsplit so I counted them as 1 full sprue.

Terrain

Mausoleum - Railing sprue 2 sets with issue 11 £18.33 (1/3 rd Mausoleum)
Mausoleum - Gate/statue sprue x1 £9.17 (1/6th Mausoleum)
Mausoleum - Base sprue x1 £9.17 (1/6th Mausoleum)
Timeworn Ruins - Ruins & Fallen statue sprue x1 £12.50
Timeworn Ruins - Statue and base sprue x2 copies £12.50 each
Stormvault - Bridge/ small plinth sprue x1 £10.50 - £13.50 depending on stormvault kit price used
Stormvault - Gryphhound Statue sprue x1 £10.50 - £13.50 depending on stormvault kit price used
Warcry - bell tower sprue x1 £14 - £15 (Warcry sprue prices based on chapel and plaza kits)
Warcry - Sigmars head sprue x1 £14 - £15
Warcry - terrain sprue A x1 £14 - £15
Warcry - terrain sprue B x1 £14 - £15

Soul Wars sprue - 2 castigators, 3 Sequitors x3 copies (issue 9 has 1 copy) £8 - £12 each
Soul Wars sprue - Lord Arcanum on Gryph Charger £25 (based on a Lord Aquilor)
Thunderstrike Brotherhood sprue - Lord Relictor, Prosecutor Prime, 2 Liberator Primes, 3 Retributors £8 - £12 (£50 box less £25 for the Lord-Celestant balance divided by 3)

Most of what you list isn't made of multiple sprues but a single sprue broken in 2 or 3 parts for boxing. I doubt they'll split those as it could lead to massive mispacks, plus leftover partial sprues if certain issues sell better than others.

Warhammer Mortal Realms - AoS Partwork @ 2020/02/03 18:59:53

Post by: Danny76

About 23-25 for SCE. 22ish for NH. Assuming only a few splits. (Prime. Mortis Engine).
13 scenery there if that split seems plausible.

I guess that leaves 20 for paints.
But was it that many before..?

Automatically Appended Next Post:
There were 14 paint only issues in Conquest according to my list.
A few paints were with models a couple of times, but not often.

So perhaps there’ll just be 12-18 more paints in this Sub

Fair points about the splits I forgot some of the sprues are the triple type split and I wasn't able to check the actual sprues earlier.

I've modified the terrian list as the timeworn ruins - ruins and fallen statue are 2 halves of an a larger sprue so those 2 become 1 issue and the Statue and base are also 2 halves but they are going to be 2 issues anyway as you get 2 so no change there.

Warhammer Mortal Realms - AoS Partwork @ 2020/02/03 20:08:55

Post by: Danny76

I think partly it’s cost of model to depend on the splits.
Felthius for £25 is three half sprues but all fit in one mag.

But anything above that is more likely to have been split.
An exact list of issues, and then we will be able to put prices to them easier.
We didn’t get that until what 20 odd issues into Conquest? So I guess we might just have to wait a while..

my first lot arrived today, happy

Mrs L's first lot (subbed the same day) didn't, I'm being careful not to gloat (much)

wondering if there are going to be a few issues with things like just a gaming mat in, or reference cards or something to make up the count?

its an odd mix, especially since that mortis engine thing as far as I can tell isn't even in the Nighthaunt army?

its a beautiful model though

I've edited the prices in or best guess where larger boxes are split (I also corrected some errors as I'd omitted the Farstriders and I realised the Thunderstrike box has 10 Liberators so that accounts for all of them). Very few go over £25. The £27.50 characters are unlikely to be split. I can see the 3 Evocators on Dracolines being 3 issues as they have an individual value of £11.66 each and are separate sprues. The Mausoleum gate and base sprue might be in 1 issue. The Gryphhounds issue will have to have a paint to make it worth the £7.99 price.

Nice work!
Looks a lot more easily laid out that way.
Can get a proper value here now I think.
(Though I will just split the Soul Wars by true value divided by sprues. Just to get a “how much it would cost outside of the magazine” kind of thing)

As someone who signed up for the trial run, I've just received the free ' Thank You' issues along with the request for my payment details.

Sorry Hachette, love the free glue and issues 1 and 2 but I never intended to go for the whole sub.

I thought by not replying and providing the details, they would never send me the free stuff. They've received the email now.

They've had some money out of me for Conquest though. Multiple Rhino issues, an extra order for the Repulsor issues, several Primaris character issues and I've bought the additional books and am awaiting the additional Marines and paint set.

All in all, if buyers get the same enjoyment from Mortal Realms that I've had with Conquest, they're in for a good time.

The only fly in the ointment could be Customer Service issues but hopefully this new move will help out. That said, I've not had any problems with my subscription so I've never had to experience that side of things.

Seems like there should be less paints, not more, given the 2 factions have even less variety in colouring than the Ultras and DG in Conquest. Maybe there are a lot of refills?

Base on the schemes sure.

But I wonder if later issues will be quite random ones.
So like a brown/blue/green or whatever that’s used for a pouch and pretty much nothing else.
Or something on those lines.

But I wonder if later issues will be quite random ones.
So like a brown/blue/green or whatever that’s used for a pouch and pretty much nothing else.
Or something on those lines.

definitely possible.
do they have any manner of weird gems and stuff that may be painted in otherwise unused colours too?
that's definitely something I noticed with Conquest; sure the majority of a Space Marine is the power armour, but I can use a dozen more colours on just one piece if I really wanted to. Conquest didn't really cover that.

Yeah. Perhaps more in the way of layer paints. And shades and basing.
I would say perhaps colours that are useful for alternate colour schemes, but that would cheapen the collection in that the end result wouldn’t be one big force. Nighthaunt can vary their spectral style a bit more than stormcasts looking different I suppose..

Conquest definitely overdosed on astrogranite basing despite not giving out a texture spreader which would have been a very cheap / obvious item to do ....

Anyone know why Hachette would put "Credit Card Payment - Thank you" on my sub detail page when they wasnt able to collect the payment?

I got my 1st delivery last week and when reports 1st went out that deliveries were happening i went to check on their site to make sure everything as up to date with my sub and it said payment was made, so i thought all good until a couple of days ago when i got an email saying "payment not received" and after checking my bank statements i see they never took the money :/

As an example, my Account Manager page for Conquest stated Payment - Thank You on 31st Jan but the charge never actually came out of my account until 10 Feb. I think it's more of statement as to when their collecting process starts rather than when they receive payment.

Maybe it would be clearer if they stated "Payment Process Started" or similar.

Got my first two issues and, over the weekend, painted these boys up:

As with Conquest magazine, I am going to see if I can keep a little journal going, charting the painting progress along with any tips I discover. Got the first entry here: https://ttgamingdiary.wordpress.com/2020/02/13/mortal-realms-and-so-it-begins/

Very nice.
Not sure what scheme to paint these Stormcast yet..

I’ve also got the Underworlds warband so might be a good chance to do two different schemes there..
Just need to think of some first!

I’m sure it will anyway, but I shall require news when people receive 3-6.
I added my card details for payment (non direct debit) but I still keep getting the email saying I need to add details for direct debit. I assume it is because they want me to do DD (people are more likely to forget that way and continue sub, but I think the entering card detail bit I did you must have to enter each month maybe? If anyone does it that way? The email says I’m set up for cash/debit payment rather than DD.

I’m not putting them in again just till I know this one didn’t take. Knowing them they’d charge twice

Speaking of Xandria has any one else found her to be made of a different plastic than normal it's actually quite brittle and grainy when you scrape the mold lines. I snapped a finger off her when I was assembling and cleaning her. I wonder if they outsourced her or just did her on the cheap. I'm sure she'll be fine once painted.

Aeneades they can't upgrade a subscription to premium they have to cancel then start a new one with a new number that is premium. I had the same thing happen to me.

Now whether they set up the new one is anyone guess but you wont be able to find out the new sub number until you get the first delivery or ring them.

One thing try imputing your old sub number but change the last digit up a value ....1 to ....2 and see if that finds it.

There's also the question on if they'll voluntarily shut down their own packing and shipping warehouse as well. With postal systems getting a bit nuts at present they might just close shop themselves and wait it out even if they've got stock.

Two sprues together just makes one mausoleum piece?
And then you get two of that fence, and two halves of the gate

Warhammer Mortal Realms - AoS Partwork @ 2020/04/01 22:09:13

Post by: DaveC

2 sprues makes 3 mausoleums each part on the sprue is half a mausoleum. The bases are on the third sprue which you don’t get this issue.

Front cover shows this
https://forbiddenplanet.com/290832-warhammer-age-of-sigmar-mortal-realms-11/

The next part of the mausoleum comes in issue 15 it looks like 1 of sprue 2 the gate and Statue sprue and maybe sprue 3 the base sprue? but only the Statue is shown on its base.

https://forbiddenplanet.com/290836-warhammer-age-of-sigmar-mortal-realms-15/

I was hoping to pick up issues 11 & 12 but the newsagent is closed for the foreseeable might order from Forbibben planet at some point.

Have comfirmation of postage but no payment taken or delivery. last ref was 21 april but nothing since. i understand in these dark days that everything has slowed but has it come to a halt with GW shutting down and now has no supply. would have thought this was planned a long time ago to fulfil to the end i.e. 'heres the full edition stock, break it down how you see fit' Not worrying too much but would like some plastic to paint.

I had the exact same thoughts the other day! Hopefully once the GW factories get back on line Hachette might order more restock certain issues? I noticed some 40K Conquest issues reappeared on the Hatchette store yesterday, so it could happen with Mortal Realms?

Ebay is definitely a non starter with the prices people charge per issue.

The new Hachette site has issues in Chrome, sub detail info doesn't line up on the scroller so you have only half the info visible. Then he delivery info has duplicate entries and only shows two deliveries.

I don't know when it was updated but the Warhammer: Mortal Realms website now has an Australian version with our prices. You can subscribe but there's no mention of when it comes out though and we also don't have a premium subscription option.
https://www.warhammermortalrealms.com/

I'm hoping its just a placeholder because i was really tempted to subscribe for the full series with premium, If we don't I'll just cherry pick issues like i did with Conquest and at least I'll save myself a few hundred bucks.

Seems like the early "Loss Leader" component is quite stacked.

Getting both the Stormcast and Night Haunt models in that first issue seems even better than the 40k Conquest one.

It's too bad they swapped out the rad glass tankard for a water pot and palette pad in the subscriber gifts.

The water pot is surprisingly useful! Our household mocked it and would probably never have bought it, but as a freebie... we love it. It's much less likely to get knocked over than a jam jar, and the grooves make getting the paint off your brushes much easier.

You're right about the high value of #1 too... I picked up about six copies. Mostly for the ghosties but at that price, it's also pretty nice to have so many sprues of both sides around that you feel fine chopping them up and converting them, even if you only use small quantities of each sprue. Even the three scenic bases from the Sigmarines are a bargain.

You know, i'd just poo poo'd the water pot as typical over priced GW crap, especially when I have a near unlimited supply of jam jars!

But reading what you said, I went and looked at the webstore page and it seems like it might actually be useful! Ridges for knocking paint off and furrows for shaping the bristles. Like you, wouldn't have brought one, but i'll take it as a freebie.
I was thinking 3 issues plus the subscriber issue for 40 chainrasps. Can't beat 40 models (and the stormcast) for a $24!

As someone who was in for the full 80 issues of the Conquest sub, I can say that I felt like a winner at the end as I had never bought Dark Imperium so the Primaris Ultramarines and the Death Guard were both armies I didn't have and the cheap (compared to GW retail) terrain and paints were the icing on the cake.

My only caveat regarding Mortal Realms is that it is only real value if someone does not already have and/ or want the models.

Personally I have my fingers crossed for Conquest Version 2 being released in a couple of years with Indomitus models included.

It’s simple, you pick up more :p
I grabbed a stack when they started in the UK.
I then gave it a while for people to get their copies and then mopped up the ones left.

I’ll never need 300 chainwrasps, but just in case I do, they are there.

There was a letter in my delivery today saying the next set will have an (additionally charged) exclusive novella, similar to the 40k one.

At roughly what issue were people receiving the additional extras for Conquest? (Novella, Silver Templars codex/book thing, Paintset, etc) Because i'm upto issue 68 and I haven't seen hide nor hair of them.

I assume it could be that the optional buyins might not be available everywhere.

The Silver Templars source book came before 68 but I can't remember exactly.

The Novella and paint set were towards the very end of the run.

Hmm. Maybe an email to their customer support might clear things up.
Do you know how much extra any of them cost?

UK prices were an additional £9.99 for the novella and £35 for the Silver Templars paint set.

The paint set was the flip book paint guide, a set of transfers, the Lieutenant that was initially in the UM vs Eldar box and five multipart Intercessors rounded off with 12 paints.

I've just emailed Hachette UK to ask if the paint set will ever be made available again to former subscribers.

Has issue 27 been delayed, or have they gone back to 2 week gap?

Went in to local newsagent who gets a copy reserved for me and it wasnt in.

Checked the website and it says coming soon, however the new website doesnt have release date info on issues anymore?

27 seems to be an issue - both local newsagents didn't get it yet, nor have forbidden planet. One newsagent said he already emailed the man about not getting 26 yet and no one from hachette is replying or answering the phone .

Been tempted to pick up a few copies of an issue, but didn't feel it was considerate of others.

Grateful for the recent and forthcoming scenery. Got some odd models such as an evocator prime and prosecutor, so might use those in Warcry when I get round to it.

Shout out to fellow Stormcasts. Tigris of Gaul salutes you.

Picking up extra copies of what you want, especially if you advance order via Forbidden Planet or whoever, is fair game.

I've mentioned several times in this thread and the Conquest one that, for UK buyers, the opportunity is there for someone to get what they want. I've certainly never felt guilty about my three cheap Repulsors or the double/ triple issues I picked up for Primaris characters for my UM and Silver Templar armies.

Its more of a personal karma thing than anything moral. I'm certainly not passing judgement on others if they choose to do so. I would be going into personal growth territory by elaborating further.

Ive ended up with 10 of issue 1, there's been heaps at newsagents around me.

Issue 2 should be out now in Australia. Gonna grab 1 when I find it.

For what it's worth for Conquest the issues that had terrain in weren't particularly the ones that were hard to get, so people buying multiples can't have been that big big a problem or the print run was increased to compensate.

The tanks were the ones that sold out.

Yeah I feel like I should grab him just cos he’s a pretty awesome model for the price too.
And maybe I’ll grab the Farstriders as I have their Underworlds cards anyway..
I think I need three issues to make postage best case on FP.
So not sure what else to pickup..

Just as an FYI, there’s a lot of back issues (including terrain sets like the Sigmarite Mausoleum or Azyrite ruins) if you missed them first time on the publisher’s website frequently, and P&P is free over £30 IIRC. Got another mausoleum set and some other terrain issues that Forbbiden Planet had ran out of this way!

Yeah the terrain on FP isn’t the best stuff.
That Liekoron Guy is obviously good value. But I don’t know that I need him. And it’s not like you can resell anything for even magazine cost price if it comes from Mortal Realms.
I mean maybe the Soul Wars sprue that has a Lord character and banner type guy, with a few sergeants or whatever they are for Stormcasts..

And the dead shall walk the Earth once more...

Sorry for the necro, but probably not worth a new thread.

Did anyone else have Hachette try to take money out of their account out of sync last week, followed by an email stating the next delivery is delayed (but with the Fire Realm Battle Mat)?

Warhammer Mortal Realms - AoS Partwork @ 2021/04/09 22:20:09

Post by: ZeroOne

I had the email saying that they would be taking the money at the end of the month, and the mat will be later.

In fairness I don't think that Hachette have the right stock levels at the moment, or are having some kind of issues. As the extra issues I had ordered from Forbidden Planet have been being sent out about 2 weeks after the issues should be at the moment.
Still waiting on the ghost horses to arrive, even though the issues from Hachette was sent weeks ago.
