I have to disagree about the rainbow warriors, those guys are classic. And kind of the best option for those of us who really can't decide what colour to paint our space marines :-P
I think one of the lamest chapters is the Mentors. I don't like their colour scheme much, and their fluff about going round mentoring other chapters just makes them sound annoying.
I would also give lame awards to any chapter that has "Angels" in the name, who aren't Blood Angels (Especial if the chapter is called Dark Angels)
Also any chapter who's name begins with the word 'Space'
I don't know if there is a chapter called 'Space Angels' but if there is... They're the lamest.

Ultramarine is a color/ and a pun ULTRA marine
Blood raven is because they are red and have Aquila all over them
Grey Knight is a theme
Blood angels have wings and like reds
Space Wolves are exactly that

I almost hate to say it, but, like, Imperial Fists. They're all, "Our adherence to the Codex Astartes is the envy of all Space Marine Chapters! Except for the Ultramarines... feth."
They just don't fill a niche. Sure, some people say they're the masters of fortification, which would be useful if Space Marines were primarily deployed in a defensive capacity, which, well, they aren't. I don;t even think you can give them that though. They don;t even have a home fortress. They fly around the galaxy in a Death Star-type contraption.

So what if the the haters make fun of them for sounding gay? After 100 years on a spacecship with just your well-muscled, hormone-filled comrades for company, who you train with, fight with and die with, you might just end up sleeping with them too!
I am proud of my rainbow warriors army.

Though (becomes really nerdy). the part of your brain that controls fear, the amgydala, is also the part that controls anger and it's physically at the brain stem. A lot of stuff would get messed up in removing it. It would also mean that when someone is yelling in your face, you would do this: why are you talking so loud?

I thought the amygdala acted as a floodgate, so to speak, for emotions like anger and fear, rather than controlling them? Wouldn't removing it cause the Berserker to feel both emotions more vividly? Wouldn't that drive him a little bit insane?

Imho, the theme makes or breaks the chapter. Angry marines, Puppy marines, Vampire marines, marines seeking redemption, Roman marines, are all +1. I may not like the chapter in particular, but at least they have an identity.
the very worst of these themes belong to the Lamenters. Sad/unlucky marines who have the most horrible color scheme ever. They were supposed to be like blade (made from vampires, with all of their strenghts but none of their weeknesses) . . . didn't turn out that way i guess.

Actually, if you pay attention you'll notice that Guard are fighting on all three planets (there's a piece of wargear that lets you get artillery support from the PDF based on how many communication arrays you have). The Blood Ravens are, effectively, doing their damndest to ensure the Guard and PDF forces aren't overwhelmed by attacking the most critical locations of the enemy. And of course, given the Blood Ravens have many fortresses on the desert world, you can be sure that more than just fifteen Marines are defending that one-- actually, on the mission where you can see plenty of Blood ravens fighting, including Davian Thule himself, a predator, and several tactical, scout, and devastator squads.

funny you should mention sons of malice.... Melissa.... I actually like them alot quite independent of their fluff battle with sisters... I just think their quartered color scheme is cool and it makes sense that chaos would have a god personifying the force of self destruction, since chaos by its very nature works against itself so much.

yeah black legion is definitely the chaos counter part to ultra marines. I dont like the way they redid their fluff as being a mish mash of renegades all wearing the same armor. It used to be that they were the hard-azzed embittered praetorians of a fallen god, the most die hard fanatical haters of the imperium. Now their fluff is pretty disorganized. I also like their character. Other renegades worship the chaos gods. The Black Legion can worship 1 god 1 week and another the next, because their real religion is.... themselves. As with Lucifer pride was their down fall.

What they are is silly, much like most of the Chaos Space Marines outside of the Original Sinners.
Anyway, the problem with threads like this is that someone is going to be a 'funny guy' and say Space Wolves, then the Space Wolves fans jump in, rage, rinse, repeat.

Doom Eagles don't look bad. They have a decent name, an oddly original colour scheme, and good contrast. My main problem with the Doom Eagles is that I don't really like metallic colours on miniatures.

The F-lame Falcons. Their fluff talks about how they all caught on fire in the heat of battle- a fire that did not hurt them, or their equipment, but only their enemies.
How do they respond to this miraculous sign of faith? They call for the inquisition because they think their geneseed is bad, then decide their geneseed is good and go party on their homeworld. The Inquisitor gets there, summons the Grey Knights and they finish off the burning marines.
That's right- a chapter of marines that is on fire. All the time. Always burning! All the time!
