What does a persons army say about them? @ 2010/01/25 12:51:00

Post by: Jubear

Just wondering if you have noticed a certain type of person/stereotype plays certain armies? The only ones Ive ever noticed is that is that two mates of mine who are both anime freaks and both play Tau for obvoius reasons.

And I am wondering if there are any more? The obvious ones to me are Tau for anime freaks and Choas attracts metal guys (or kids in slipknot shirts) anymore?

please note this a cheerful happy thread be cool to each other =)

Shouldn't have thrown out "anime freaks" or slipknot fans if you wanted a cheerful happy thread.

But yeah, and Eldar players are gay. All Space Marine players are under 12, and all SOB players are catholic perverts.

A person's army says that they have that army.

And just about nothing else, although the presence/absence of a joke theme can show how serious one takes the setting... and yet, it can't really show that because sometimes you just have to sit back and laugh because it really is ludicrous from an outsider's perspective.

As for the "catholic perverts" part... lol? I'm pretty damn far from either... actually people on this forum have called me a prude before

Pretty sure that all Black Templar are LARPers.

On a personal note, I wonder how much I've influenced the "Orks = drunk people" stereotype.

1:00 PM, or going into game2 of a tournament is NOT too soon to be halfway through a bottle of Captain Morgan.

*burp*

These are *NOT* angry orks.

Here's a closeup of that trukk.

PS: Ice cream (or other dairy products) do *NOT* go well together. This one time, I was in the kitchen on a Saturday thinking to myself, "Man, I'm thirsty." I got out the milk and sated my thirst. Then I was like, "Hrm...lets spend the day drunk." So I got out the Southern Comfort and started swigging. COMPLETELY forgot that I had just had a big glass of millk. Needless to say, the kitchen sink was a foot away, and I forcibly emptied my stomach, and was like "WHY THE HELL DID I JUST DO THAT?!?"

Oh and I don't listen to much Slipknot actually I don't know that I have any. More of a NIN and Devil Driver fan Oh and I REALLY LOVE war and adrenaline. Blood for the blood god!

I really wouldn't look into what an army says about somebody that much. I have Space Wolves because I think Vikings are cool. I have Guard because Aliens is a great movie. I have Orks because I happened to have a bunch from Black Reach and I figured I might as well start an army of them. Threads like this are just a lot of people trying to claim themselves as unique snowflakes because they think their plastic spacemen reflect on them at a personal level.

I never thought I'd say this, but Melissia said it best:
A person's army says that they have that army.

This has been the most disturbing series of posts I have ever witnessed since...Monday?

BTW, Death Korps of Krieg are more akin to World War 1. Armageddon forces are similar to WWII.

Digging a lot of the humor here, but my case is kind of inverted. I don't play Space Wolves and Chaos because I'm a metalhead that digs vikings. I don't play SW and CSM because I'm a metalhead that digs vikings.

I think the exaggeration of themes that makes the (hilarious) stereotyping so easy is a turnoff for some people. I don't see most CSM as badass, like they're meant to be, I see them as the rejects of crappy power metal music videos, covered in a pungent layer of GW's patented grimdark spike-vomit. For SW, they took a fantastic pool of mythology, then relegated the only moderately faithful representations to character names. The rest is just "DO U LIEK MY MOHAWK AND FACEBRAIDZ I HAS A WOLFPELT!" Oh, and the color scheme is rather... meh (to each their own and all of those standard "don't hit me!" qualifiers).

I read the first page and cried blood. Literally. (just a wee bit)
I liked vampires before Twatlight came out.

+1 to Dash's post

And the Finnish Air Force happily flew around in German bombers and fighters sent by Nazi Germany as a present, which leaves a kinda bad taste in my mouth considerin this symbolism.

And something topic-related:

I think Orks just represent something that is existent in every human male more or less: The fascination with things that go BOOM, have a nice kick, have a sharp blade or any other dangerously interesting attributes. I, personally, love the Mek attitude of just hammering stuff together and see if it works - that would make modern engineering so much more fun!

Aw Freyas hard tits! I will only say this once.

Space Wolves aren't furry. They can't even field wolfen anymore.

We kill the wolf and drink it's blood and wear its fur to become just like it. A furry would lick its bum and eat it's gak.

Space Wolves are space vikings! we fear no man, woman or Xeno. Hell we even hate the Inquisition, but who doesn't!?!?

We sail the star of seas we are the sky warriors!

I however have no quarrel about being a drunk. Let's face it I love the liquor.

I think that the Necron army should be more then just the Sci-fi fans cause that, I believe, should really apply to all of us. I'm thinking more of people who are rather impassive or act emotionless. I'm sure we all know people who can be made to look like a total idiot but just fixes the ailment without so much as a blush of embarrassment.

Orks: Laid back, looking for fun.

Crons: Never take themselves too seriously.
