I've recently succumbed to the dark side and after 7 years of resistance, begun playing Space Marines. But not just any Astartes would do. Pretty Marines, bane of all things ugly, immediately stood out to me and I had to run with them.
I quickly concocted myself a list of them I'd like to use, with my own twist. I decided on a company of Pretty Marines all encased in Tactical Dreadnought Armor.
I bring to you, Glamourwing. A Deathwing army clad in roses and perfect hair, flawless lavender armor, and power fists and lightning claws a'plenty to bring a beautiful monsoon death to the trecherous (and ugly!) enemies of mankind.
Ignore the chip on the front guys base, forgot to touch it up before getting the first pictures.
I'll update more later this week when I finish up the first squad of lightning claw Termi's. And hopefully with some better pictures. Need to set up a little neutral area to take them in.

Thanks for the comments!
I'm thinking a large rose might be workable for the Librarian's force weapon, or Chaplain's Crozius if nothing else. Still trying to figure out exactly what I want to do for my second HQ. Have to get my Apothecary and Belial equivilant all made up first though. Especially the Belial, he's needed to actually play the army after all. And the Prince of Glamourwing has to be the most beautiful of them all, so it'll be a bit on him.
Oh, and the Nvidia thing was supposed to be a rose. I touched the greenstuff accidentally and didn't notice until it had cured that I had mashed it down. It still looks ok from playing distance, so I left it. Might pop it off and re-do it when I'm done with a few more squads though.
Warboss, they'd be happy to give your Bloodwing force some style advice. They know that nothing is worse than first dropping down onto a planet and your hair won't do that flippy thing you want, or flow in the wind just right. It's debilitating.

Here is a story from the internet.
The records of this dire moment in Imperial history were (until I came upon them) known only to the two Space Marine Chapters that took part in the skirmish. However, only by putting the two records together is the truth found.
The Pretty Marines tell of a conflict fraught with glory against the odds, and of dire betrayal: "Before the sortie against our enemy our glorious Chapter Master graced us with a speech, before the resplendent lines of Brother-Marines sparking under the twin suns he told of beautiful victory, of the fates of our enemies. As one we cheered, then awaited his inevitable dance number. From the skies fell a drop pod, smashing into our forward lines and engulfing the area with thick dust. It took us only a moment to clear the air with our blow-dryers, but it was a moment too late as we saw the Chapter Master fallen..."
The Angry Marines tell the other side of the story, though in far less words due to a lacking in vocabulary beyond many four letter cusses. Hastily inserted into the annals of their Chapter, glory is simply a picture with the words "OWNED" across it, and the image of the Pretty Marines' Chapter Master unconscious on the ground, a crude mustache drawn on his face with paint, and what appears to be a set of testicles on his forehead.
So began the greatest feud in Imperial history.

Hahaha, finally some appropriately angry responses! Unfortunately most of my local gaming group doesn't know of the pretty/angry marines. Makes them slightly less fun, albeight very slightly.
I don't believe I'll be making Adepticon, unfortunately. I'd love to, but I think I'd be out of luck on a room and entry by the time I could get that money saved up... Unless by some fluke some of my local gaming buddies who are more into the tournement scene then me are going, and I can split costs with them. They've offered before for other events.

Idea: if you have biker models, make them ride ponies and/or unicorns instead of bikes. They look so much adorable that way.
Make sure to varnish them with gloss varnish, though. And use glitter glue for the gluing the bases (some parts of the glitter will still peek out even under the sand). You can also use the glitter glue to write cursive letters on the vehicles.

Couldn't get as much done this week as I'd have liked, thanks to the Festival of Gluttony and work, but have a I have a small update and a bit of a picture dump.
The first lightning claw squad.
The grey sergeant up front obviously isn't done yet. I was priming the rest of the squad and realized I hadn't finished off the sculpting of his chapter insignia, so he got set behind. I'll paint him this weekend when work will keep me from really doing much of anything.
Got a few pictures of each of the squads so far too. The squad and sergeant names are still in development.
Yellow Squad
Red Squad
Blue Squad
And a picture of the full force as of today.

A combination of laziness and work have kept me from doing too much this week so far. I've managed to finish the sergeant for my first Lightning Claw squad.
Though I now see a spot on his head I need to touch up.
Other than that I've finished building the next basic squad so they're ready for Greenstuffing. They should be ready by next Tuesday (My gaming day every week.) After that there will just be one more basic squad and my "Command Squad" of a Lightning Claw squad with a Standard bearer. I'd love to fit an Apothecary too, but I just can't find the points as is. Though I'm considering adding a Venerable Dread in place of one of the squads to buy me some points for that Apothecary and a few Chainfists.

Have to have the full army done by Christmas, so I have a few weeks to get objective markers, a display board, and some names all sorted out before Bolter Beach in January. With it only being two more squads of termi's, two characters, and a Dread, it theoretically shouldn't be a big issue.

These are hilarious, definitely. Only suggestion I'd have is to pass give 'em a good wash on the armor and the faces, although I'm not sure what color would work best with that lavender. It'd really bring out their depth though and shouldn't harm the details.

I tried making a press-mold for the emblems, but in the end just wound up sculpting all the hearts, roses, hair, and other things individually. It was more effective for me to do it that way.
I do agree that I could use some shading. I've just been very wary of darkening them up too much. My initial test mini's turned out way too muted, so I wound up running with them the way they are now. I do have a spare unit of termi's I might see what I can do with. If I can get them shaded and highlighted a bit better, I may go back and work on the others again.
The next unit is already done though, just letting the glue on the bases dry before adding the finishing touches to the bases and I'll throw them up here as well. Then the Dreadnought is next. Automatically Appended Next Post: Well, the last normal squad is finished. Though upon looking at the pictures I see some things I think I'm going back and changing/fixing that I didn't really notice before.
And a really bad picture of the full painted army so far.
From here I just have my fancy-pants lightning claw squad with a Banner and Apothecary, the Librarian, the Dreadnought, and the Prince of the Glamourwing left. And roughly a week to do them in. Gogogo!

Very nice, I love alternate color schemes and your freehand is very nice. I agree that they could use a wash to pull out the depth and I think a blue wash would work nicely for the lavender to add shadow without dulling it down. I couldn't quite tell, but are your highlights pure white?

Thank you much.
Yes, poor brother Azalea suffered a horrendous calamity during a raid on a nurgle-infested manufactorum.
During his final heroic moments before being interred into his new armored shell, he was struck while delivering the final blow to a particularly ugly Plaguebearer. The blood and pus of the foul nurgle-spawn splashed his face, poor Azalea was left with a series of pimples and blemishes that would never fade. He was carried back to the Elegant Spirit and, while the chapter apothecaries tried everything they could to restore his beauty, they found that encasing him in a Dreadnought was the only solution.

I had concidered it briefly, since I am taking them to a Tourney and all. Granted, I'm not expecting any great things out of them, but they'll be more fun to bring than my Dark Eldar.
My biggest problem with playing them as SW it that they're already built to Deathwing specifications. Lots of Powerfists since Power Weapons aren't available as basic weapons. I just feel that all I'd really gain from playing them is Counter-attack, and 2-shot CML's. While that's nice, the option to make use of Deathwing Assault if the situation deems it appropriate seems like a slightly larger boon to me than Counter-attack with a bunch of I1 power fists.
Perhaps there's something I'm missing though.

Instead of washing them completely and darkening them, I'd test a thin mixture of purple or blue wash (maybe 1:1 with water) painted directing into the crevices of the armour. It should give enough definition to stop them looking so flat.

Hmmm, based on the way they are doing the new BA codex, perhaps that would be an interesting redo of the Pretty Marines? Eventually you'd be able to use once you could afford it, sculpted six-pack abs and all those other heads that have hair as well. Also a chapter concerned with it's appearance, so that would fit in at least their models would with your ability to rose the symbols compared to the older ones. You could do it, based on what I have seen already. Automatically Appended Next Post: Oh yeah, I am wondering what a Chaplain will look like?

They worked out exactly as expected at Bolter Beach, exactly zero victories! Had a great time though, and the army took best painted. Though I personally thought one of the Tau or one of the Ork armies should have had that, one took players choice and the other best sportsmanship, so all is good.
And it motivated me enough to sell off my Dark Eldar to help expand them and turn them into a workable force, so expect more stuff to pop up in the future. Likely some fancy Thunderhammer and Stormshield action, a Chaplain, and maybe even another dread and Land Raiders. But first I'm moving my Daemon army from the back-burner to the forefront. I'll decide which to bring to the next Bolter Beach when it gets closer to time.
They might even make the jump to another codex, expanding into a second Pretty Marine army for me.
