At the moment Eldar, got back into them in Jan, so I am painting them at the moment with the intention to use them as my main army for the forseeable future.
Orks are second, CSM third, although Just Dave's Chaos list update he's been working on has got me playing about with them again atm.
Fave is actually Imperial Guard, but haven't the funds to start a Guard army I'd be happy with, so they are waiting until that day occurs.

I started with Dark Eldar back in 3rd, and it was the only army I played.
however, since getting back into the game in January, I've been collecting and playing solely with Tau....So,
Dark Eldar = Favorite
Tau = Current Main
in all honesty though, there are only a couple armies that I wouldn't LOVE to collect and play with.

I started with Orks 12 months ago and they are still my main and favourite army. They're fun to play and fun to paint. And it's fun coming up with looted vehicle ideas.
Second favourite would be Necrons, although I am waiting for the new Codex before I expand beyond my 1500pt force of mainly Warriors.
I also have some Space Wolves and regular Space Marines. I like the look of the Space Wolves and i'm only just starting the Space Marines.

Eldar seems to consistently be the most played, despite the learning curve and datedness.
Also, forgot to state my army. Now Death Guard, mainl because I have almost 2000 points of them alone now (which grew from a single squad of PMs) and they totally wiped the floor with my friend's Imperial Guard.

But none of them are a "main" army. You see, I codex hop.
I don't necessarily jump to the latest codex, but I certainly jump after 4-6 games. I am kinda like a butterfly that way....I flutter about.
I revived my Tyranids when the codex came out. The same with Dark Eldar, but I didn't feel the need to play neither Space Wolves or Blood Angels, nor Grey Knights now that they are out.
I think I'll use my Orks for the next few games and I feel a Necron-urge creeping up on me.

They wouldn't be steamrolling over other armies...Landraiders are good but this game requires something called tactics.
Not that marines are a weak army choice, but I find that because of their flexibility they aren't expecially good for any thing.
If you have a mech army, they can fire their heavy weapons but not their bolters.
If you have horde their Lascannons are less than useless...
