I like the aqua one best. Can't really afford a handheld right now though, and a new model might be on it's way before too long. Ideally I'd like to see them drop the second screen in favor of a bigger, better quality 3D one (few games make good use of both screens anyway), and add that much needed 2nd analogue pad. A bigger battery is also a must - much preferable to an anorexic device in my book.
n0t_u wrote:Probably the colour I suppose. It's not as bad as the yellow DSiXL I have.
You uncultured swine! Purple is friggin awesome sauce! Im obviously defending its honor because I preordered one
It does need a 2nd analog stick for sure, but they sell a $20 attachment (maybe less cant remember) that fixes that problem well enough. But personally I dont see why they would ditch the touch screen, its not Nintendos fault many game developers dont use the touch screen better, because the games that DO use it well, its fantastic.
Personally I think Nintendo is on the verge of taking the reigns back here in the yearish. People now know what the XBOX 720 is going to be coming out with, and sadly for the fanbois, the WiiU will be MORE then capable of handling the 720. I watched a video where a guy was comparing the specs of the 720 and the WiiU, and there are parts where the WiiU is better, and the rest they are very similar. So yea, as far as XBOX goes, Im not worried at all, its also been leaked that the price point for the WiiU will most likely be the $300 area, as some survey company leaked its survey (which was supposed to be kept in a control group) asking if you were to buy a WiiU would $300 be too much? So a good price, good stats, not to mention the fact that the 3DS will be able to link to it and the 2 do all kinds of neat magical things. Im pretty excited.
But yes, the 3DS is a lovely system, with a world of potential on its shoulders still. 7 days and its mine!
The only real thing that let the Wii and DS down in my opinion was the shovelware. Added too much in between decent games and caused the system to look poorer for it; more so in the case of the Wii.
Well TBH, shovelware is really on EVERY system. The real problem was, the Wii and the DS/3DS systems are not only easier to make games on, but also, they were seen as systems for kids. Thats the main problem.
Project Sora(The guys that made Kid Icarus Uprising) Are also working on Super Smash Bros for Both 3ds and WiiU.
I've been rocking the Zelda 3ds, but I bought the original Black one when it came out and did a system transfer so I could get the Ambassador stuff on the Zelda 3DS
Going to wait this year for the possible dual analog module that was leaked. I am AMPING for the new Pokemon games!! I hope they change ALot in terms of how you play, not just non sprite graphics
Yea, Ive enjoyed Pokemon games for years, but I agree, they need to SERIOUSLY step it up a bit in all departments. They have the capabilities of make the games better AND many times better graphically, but 2 or 3 entire games have come and gone and looked almost the same graphically. Im not one of those guys that NEEDS graphics to enjoy a game by any stretch, I still play my NES FFS, but Im getting annoyed that the Pokemon games STILL look like they did on the advanced
I actually enjoyed it a bit more on the Wii with its controls than on the Gamecube. Just felt like it worked for the game for once instead of against it like usual.
My problem is I'll get super Comp into Pokemon and Literally spend every waking moment Working on EV training and IV Breeding, just to have half my team banned by Smogon right as I get them to 100.
Iur_tae_mont wrote:5th Gen had some Cool Ideas (Meinshao, Zoroark, and Chandelure come to mind).
There are many things wrong with the 5gen but agreed they at least got these guys right. I watch the Pokemon movie that had Zoroark my little bro recorded it on DTSV and I like Zoroark alot after that.
my rating out of 10:
1st gen: 10/10
2nd gen: 9/10
3rd gen: 7/10
4th gen: 6.5/10
5th gen: 3
As long as I got a Geodude, I never really cared about the rest. Id mate him with some flying type, and then earthquake entire teams into submission lol
I ran theme parties, mostly every Pokemon was water type. Whatever the ability that turned damage from a water attack into HP was nice, use surf to heal.
Rayman Origins will be released on the 3DS June 5th this year(from what I found anyways). Pretty excited by this, the pics Ive seen so far look pretty nice TBH
Kindda reminds me of Dragon Lair 2 as far as art goes.
OK well Ubisoft announced that they will have free to play on all next gen consoles. Not too much news after that, but some guesses are for example, Ghost Recon online.
Yea, when I first heard about it, it was just free to play, and that was it. So instantly my mind started swirling with "Free to play...flash style games?!" But then I heard free to play online. Which is still pretty cool in my book. As long as they keep a better eye on their servers then PSN with their free to play. Talk about a fething nightmare. I just LOVED playing free online games, only to rage quick from all the fething hacking going on. Christ, can people NOT play games these days without cheating?! I remember when you fething HAD to be good at the games you played....now its just "Oh here upload this software and you wont ever die!"
Still, Id imagine if Nintendo has anything to do with it, they will be a bit stricter with those things
Purple 3DS is officially released today. I say it that way, because apparently some Walmarts think street dates are stupid and have been selling them since a week ago.
Anywho, maybe Ill post some pics here when I get it.
For any Pokemon B/W players in the US: make sure you get the Darkrai Mystery Gift. It'll be able to download between May Something( I Dled it yesterday) and June 10th.
Also, I Nominate this should be the Official Dakka Nintendo Thread, For all News and events related to Nintendo Games and Consoles.
That sounds good. Im subscribed to a number of channels on youtube that post daily vids on the latest news, so its not like itd be much of an annoyance
FYI, the midnight purple 3DS is fething awesome looking. And Legend of Zelda Ocarina of time, is incredible so far. They really polished the graphics
I downloaded the demo for Rayman Origins last night. I have to say if you havnt, definitely do it. Its a gorgeous game, simply gorgeous, specially with the 3d turned up. The art work was hand drawn, instead of done on a PC like everything else is. June 5th is the date Im getting for launch. Im really thinking about maybe getting it.
And on that note, I also played through the Resident Evil Revelations demo as well. I ALMOST bought this title instead when I got my 3DS, but Ive seen a lot of reviewers saying that its tough to play with out that second circle pad attachment. I must say, although Im sure it would make things easier, it certainly wasnt needed on that demo. It played rather smoothly. Now I kindda regret not picking it up And good gravy does that one look nice, its pretty impressive seeing graphics like that on a Nintendo platform. Taste of things to come Im thinking.

You liked Origins? I thought that it was terrible... Especially the music. Ugh.
VVVVVV is out now too, I downloaded it and I like it a lot.
Little bit of news, obviously itll get much better here in a few weeks when E3 happens and all the good stuff is confirmed and so on.
Anywho
Castlevania will have a game on the 3DS AND a separate title for the WiiU. The WiiU title will be multiplatform, so we get to compare to listen to how much better it is on X system
Also, not confirmed yet, but probably will be at E3, apparently the rumors are saying that Nintendo has managed to let the WiiU have more then 1 WiiU controller at a time. Thats pretty cool to hear, as when this system was first leaked out, that was one of the first questions on everyones mind, can I use more then 1 controller? Well, according to some pretty sound rumors, it will.
That'd make a fair few games more interesting if they can have multiple controllers. Hopefully though every game designer will not feel the urge to force this innovation into every single game for it as while nice you can't expect it to work well in every situation.
I think you can expect that annoyance anyways. I mean, game devs do that stupid gak ANYWAYS. I swear game developers are just like GW, they dont listen to the people that BUY their games anyways
Just hope it isn't as prevalent as it was with the Wii, that was like hitting a switch for me after the Gamecube. Went from liking a ton of games to maybe liking three. Disappointing considering my first game was Super Mario on the NES at I think three, then the first game I saved up for and brought myself was for the Gameboy.
Shovel ware is something we have to deal with on EVERY system. The problem with the Wii currently, is its easy to make shovel ware for, AND add to the fact that the Wii is a casual gamers sonsole, so all those idiots that bought it because its cool, get these gak games because they are cheaper, and therefore hold a market. If you look at PS3 and 360, those are NOT casual systems, and their shovel ware is considerably less, why? Because its a system owned by predominantly hardcore gamers who dont buy that gak, and so those upstarts dont make money from 360/PS3.
Now the WiiU is acknowledged as NOT being a casual gamers console, Nintendo has actually said they know the casual gamer phase has come and gone, and they will not be making the WiiU for that type of gamer. The WiiU is going to be a pretty badass system. Sure itll have some of the dumb gak the Wii has currently (I swear the Mii games just make me want to kill puppies) but it will get better. Im pretty excited to see how games play on it, there certainly is some pretty cool ideas for it anyways
There are still casual games out there. They are Called Hand Held Consoles and iPhone games. Home Consoles need to cater to hard core gamers.
Not that hand held games do not hardcore followings (Pokemon comes to mind) but it's easier to pick up a handheld to kill some time while waiting for the family to get ready for whatever(and you can take it with you) or to kill some time during your lunch break.
Don't get me wrong, I love my 3ds to pieces, but it's mostly something played when I either get a big itch for one of my hand held games or when I want to kill some time, but do not have enough time to really sit down with the Xbox.
I saw that on eShop, it has a REALLY good rating. Im waiting to get a card so I can get some games. Im thinking maybe that one, and Mutant Mudd. Good lord Ive played the demo for mutant mudd at least 15 times, Im sadly running out of tries
No news yet really, pretty much wont get much till E3, at least its close. I just wanted to share that I watched a couple movies on netflix on my 3DS today, letting the kids play in the living room. Its pretty nice having movies on the go like that
Automatically Appended Next Post: Ive got to say, what the video shows, is impressive. Definitely a nice tease until E3 to show what they are bringing to the table. Some of the new things seem a little , whatever, but over all pretty cool stuff they are doing with the WiiU
Nothing yet. The only thing Ive seen was a 3DSXL but I havnt really read into it yet, just a picture saying 3DSXL! Later when Im in the mood for looking for more info, Ill let ya know.
Automatically Appended Next Post: And some game lineups for the WiiU
Ill admit, graphically, some of these games look pretty underpar for what I was expecting. Sure theres a few that looked really good, and a few short gameplay clips of some games Ive been eyeing pretty closely (like ZombiU) But looks like a good start, though I REALLY REALLY REEEEEALLY!!!!!! Wish they would make Mario games like Mario64. Such a fantastic game, and a great way to push system graphics, this side scroller gak is for cellphones and quick downloads

3DSXL? Sounds like waiting to buy a 3DS instead of just grabbing one was a good idea then.
ZombiU... Zombew? Zombiew? How do you say that? Regardless it looks the way I hoped Resident Evil would have gone instead of with the bugs. Tank!Tank!Tank! getting a port, nice.
Im going with Zombie and the the letter U Oddly enough, they didnt say how its pronounced, and if they did I missed it. Yea theres a few games coming out for the WiiU that Im really looking forward to, specially now after seeing them in action. Im still waiting for a badass pokemon game ala Shadow Colosseum on gamecube, or hell even something like that on the 3DS would make me happy. The way they have been doing it all these years are starting to wear on me. And a Mario64 style mario game. Didnt get that on the Wii whatso ever. Heres hoping.
Automatically Appended Next Post: ALSO they are announcing their 3DS stuff today, so Ill try and watch the feed to see what they say, because IF they are making an XL version this year at all, they will mention it today
Watched Nintendos 3DS E3 live feed yesterday. Some things were cool, others not so much. If they plan on making an XL3DS they didnt mention it at ALL last night. So I wouldnt hold your breath on that one, at least not in the next year. Maybe sometime after the WiiU drops. Speaking of, they will come in 2 colors white and black, but apparently the black wont be a launch color at least not at first. I find that odd, but whatever.
Back to 3DS, Super Mario bros 2 looks pretty good TBH, basically it looks like Super Mario Wii, but in 3D. Multiplayer is exactly the same as it is on the Wii version. But obviously they added a few new things here and there, like for example, the main focus on this game is to get gold coins like a mofo, they mentioned a goal of getting 1 million coins! And a new Gold Flower, like a fire flower, but it turns you solid gold, and your "fire ball" that is now gold, turns not only any enemy into gold, but also blocks and such gold as well. And when you throw a turtle shell, its path leaves gold coins. AND theres a few challenge modes where you have to basically run as fast as possible through 3 random stages and get as much coin as possible. The thing that makes it so challenging, is you get 1 life, thats it. And you get coins for every second you have left, and then you can share your coins/times on streetpass.
Also they showed Luigis Mansion 2 and that made me pretty excited, as Im a HUGE fan of the original. This time they wanted to focus on more Ghost combat as well as exploration. Speaking of exploration they are including more mansions to explore as well. Not too much to say on it as if you know the general idea of Luigis Mansion, then you know what to expect basically.
AND paper mario. Never played a paper mario before, but this vid made me think Im going to back track and check it out. The rest seemed ok to meh to me, but Ill throw vids up either way
Super Mario Brothers 2
Spoiler:
Luigis Mansion
Spoiler:
Paper Mario Sticker Star
Spoiler:
Castlevania
Spoiler:
Kingddom Hearts
Spoiler:
Disneys Epic Mickey. I really liked the one on Wii, this just looks terrible to me. This honestly looks like a reskin of Disneys Aladdin on SNES. Not even really joking
Yea they said nothing about it, nor animal crossings. Im not a big fan of Animal Crossings mind you, but the wife was always a fruit cake about the games, personally I think they are too boring. Oh well, at least so far, Nintendo is sticking to their "We arnt staying with casual, we are going more hardcore" statements from months back. This line up already looks really good. Pretty excited about the WiiU. Sadly though, I wont be able to buy mine until tax season, as we are pretty tapped around Christmas from all the get togethers, and presents for my kids.
Oh well, I just look at that as a chance to get a few more games and possibly the black WiiU by then
Animal Crossing was alright for the first one on the Game Cube, but it went downhill with the others to me. It just can't pull it off like Harvest Moon can.
Agreed on both points. It was fune on the gamecube, and TBH, I seem to be missing my Gamecube more and more lately. Sure I could buy the games and play it on my Wii, but my Wii is modded, and I dunno if that part even works still, not to mention if itl screw anything up. Not sure. But the positive is, its garage sale season, and gamecubes can be picked up for pretty cheap when you find them. Im still hoping I find that deal of the summer on some random Nintendo product
My only real gripe with Harvestmoon/Animal Crossings is the fact they REALLY take time into consideration. It gets boring knowing, well I get to play for 5 minutes (once you get everything setup and running) and then cant really do anything for the next 20 hours
Lets say maybe? It can play Wii games, so who knows. That would be pretty cool, but I wouldnt hold your breath. If you look at their handhelds, for example, they seem to go a few generations and forget older ones and thats it. So Id guess, it wont but that would be cool if the WiiU would play gamecube games.
I reckon it won't happen, not least because the controller itself lacks a disc drive, so it would either have to be with infra-red range of the console, or copy the disc to memory...
Well the dumb thing about the DSi not playing gamboy advanced games is, if you take the DSi apart, theres still a bay INSIDE that is supposed to be for plugging in GA games. Now weather or not their was software to run it, I dunno, but the bay was in every single DSi
Also, Mass Effect 3 will be on WiiU during its launch period. Same with Darksiders......something, forgot the number and POSSIBLY WatchDogs. When asked, Ubisoft said "its definitely a possibility" So heres hoping for that yea? And speaking of, Nintendo said, the WiiU launch period will be a span of 3 months after the launch date. By then they said the WiiU will have 31 titles. Hurray for tax season landing at the end of that one
In one of the videos I watched they talked about the charge life on the Game Pad. Obviously it has different options for brightness and so on, but they are saying 4 hours on the normal settings. So really, not bad at all considering
For a 360 or PS3 controller yes. But this is a full blown wifi tablet that works in conjunction with a gaming console, and at normal settings apparently. I know from turning the brightness down and such on my 3DS I get longer battery life then the average with that......as long as I stay away from netflix that is
In the Us and Europe, They are re-releasing the event Victini (the one with V-Create, Fusion Flare, Fusion Bolt, and Searing Shot) From June 11 to June 26 over the Nintendo Wifi Connection.
So if you missed out on it earlier (or if you want two[or in my Case, 4 ^^]) You can still get the broken little son of a gun.
Tada! Even though Im not a fan, this means Ill be buying it for my wife when it does drop. And many people were pretty excited about seeing this one again.
Other news, apparently they are NOT going to redesign the 3DS in any fashion. They are planning the next handheld from Nintendo and thats it so far. So if any of you were holding out for an XL3DS then I wouldnt hold my breathe
Wow some of those comments (read complaining) is a bit stupid TBH. Awwww the game pad wont last 6 hours on a charge doing all the crazyness that it does?!?!? BOOHOO!!! Really? I mean, its a home console controller, I dont complain that I cant take my 360 controller with my on trips and play games, so why does that matter? And like someone pointed out, my 360 controller lasts about 5-6 hours as well, and so if the GamePad gets somewhere in that area, I will be pretty impressed.
Call this a rumor/guess on my part, but I think WatchDogs WILL be out on the WiiU at some time in the future, along with the other systems. Why you ask? Simple, I was watching the Weekly Nintendo 3D show last night, and they were at E3 doing their rounds of all things Nintendo, and in the midst of all the Nintendo products and games, they flashed the WatchDogs booth. Now if any of you ever WATCH the weekly Nintendo shows you know that they dont show other game companies stuff if its not going to be on the system. Soooo call me crazy, but WatchDogs WiiU edition I think we will get
Hadn't heard of it, but looked it up after that post. Seems like a decent enough game. Sort of a slight GITS vibe to it.
I'm guessing the WiiU version would have all the things he can do with his phone on it most of the time. I sort of like the way the data floats around.
That just might be what happens, which annoys me to no end, because I bought a friggin 3DS Hurray so itll be pretty much useless in a couple years Oh well, maybe that means a much more powerful handheld? I dunno.
The English language press has chattered about 3DS obsolescence since right after launch. The 3DS is actually a little powerhouse, just in terms of what the damn thing does, and it's selling pretty well. I wouldn't worry about anything but a "3DSi" model with longer battery life.
Yea, the system really does have some power in it, just check out Resident Evil Revelations, that game looks fantastic without the 3D turned on (thankfully because 3D hurts my eyes something fierce) And knowing Nintendo, they will probably do something to change the platform next year or so. Hell just look at how many times they redid the DS?
I bought my second 3DS (Midnight Purple) last night. I let my mom borrow my first one (Aqua Blue) because she wanted to play Ocarina of Time. She enjoyed the system so much I simply gave it to her and decided to get another one later. I wanted to play RE Revelations and try Kid Icarus but there really wasn't much else available that I cared about. Mirror of Fate and Luigi's Mansion 2 are both coming out later in the year but I decided to snap another one up because (1) the cool color and (2) Lego Batman 2 came out. LB2 is a pretty fun game but I haven't yet seen anything about it that makes it really stand out from its predecessor (short voice acting clips aside). I look forward to getting to play Superman and the incorporation of John Williams's Superman score is a huge bonus (I love the first Lego Batman partly because it used Elfman's score for the '89 film.)
I haven't read any official explanation. At release there was only Cosmo Black and Aqua Blue. Now you can get (since September 2011 in the US) Flame Red, (since February in the US) Pearl Pink, (since March in Japan) Cobalt Blue, and (since May in the US) Midnight Purple.
Aqua looked pretty awesome in person. I don't think pics do any of the metallic colors justice. I remember being kind of nonplussed to get an Aqua Blue 3DS but I had already had a black DS and black DSi so I wanted something different. I was really pleased, however, when I actually opened it up. Purple is even more amazing, IMO.
I'm also convinced that the US will not see anymore Special Edition 3DS packages so kudos to anybody who got the Zelda one.
I dunno, Im thinking the no charger thing cant be right. It just doesnt make fething sense at all. Thatd be like buying a surround sound system, with no power button
Automatically Appended Next Post: Also, theres a new Pokemon game coming out called Conquests. I havnt watched more then just a trailer on it, but it looks like an RTS? More when Im not tired and my eyes arnt held open with tape
Can the normal one charge with USB or something as they may have just put the cable in with this instead of it for some reason...
That new pokemon game looks like a sort of lighter version of Civ maybe. Just another to add to the pile of spin offs. No idea if it'll be one of the few gems in the pile.
Conquest is in fact a spin-off of both the Pokémon and Nobunaga's Ambition series'. It looks to be an above-average spin-off, on a par with Mystery Dungeon and in a similar style.
To continue with Pokémon news, Black and White 2 were released in Japan today. A teaser trailer in English has finally been released.
No spoilers here, so feel free to watch:
The new Poison-Type Gym leader, the bass-playing Homika, has now been gifted with the localised name Roxie.
Bulbanews wrote:The latest European Nintendo Direct has revealed the English names of the kami trio's new forms and Homika, and the English release of Battle & Get! Pokémon Typing DS has been confirmed under the name Learn With Pokémon Typing Adventure.
Thundurus, Landorus, and Tornadus's new forms are called the Therian Forme (Japanese: れいじゅうフォルム Reijū Forme). Pokémon.com has also revealed that their standard forms are known as the Incarnate Forme (Japanese: けしんフォルム Kenshin Forme). Also, the Gym Leader of the Virbank Gym, Homika, is called Roxie in English.
Learn With Pokémon Typing Adventure, known as Battle & Get! Pokémon Typing DS in Japanese, has been announced for Europe. It will be released in Sept. 2012, and the Nintendo Bluetooth Keyboard is to be included in the package.

If the current one charges via USB, Ive never heard of it nor tried it. Maybe if you had an adaptor that has a USB end on it? *shrugs*
Sort of interesting that they went with direct sequels to black and white, something they hadn't really done with the series since gold and silver. Though they still did have throw backs in the others.
If it doesn't come packaged with a charger then that might suggest that the second analogue slider was left out for the purpose of upselling - assuming the current analogue add on is compatible with the 3DS XL of course!
It's possible however that the charger just hasn't been finalised yet, and has been omitted from the details for that reason.
I've been playing pokemon Conquest the past couple days. It's a pretty long(but fun) game. The tutorial chapter took about 10 hours. I call it the Tutorial chapter because all the enemy would do is defend against you. After you beat that level, you have 33 more chapters (plus ones you can Download from WIFI), each with varying lengths, difficulty, and goals.
Right now I am playing the chapter where you have to collect 100 pokemon(total across all of your warriors) but now you actually have to defend against invasions from the other countries(17 countries, one for each type of Pokemon) and the AI controlled countries can invade one another.
All in all pretty fun. I'm about 15 hours in.
Edit: also, the japanese trailer for B2/W2 was about 200% cooler.
Ive heard the colors should be red/blue/white and black. Though the weird part is, the places Ive read/watched all said 3 colors, but they vary from source to source from what I mentioned. Soooo either its actually 4 colors, or some mofos are getting it wrong
Iris the champ? Damn it. They prolly did that because she's Ash's new partner. So many ex-gym leaders(for Unova) that could have been cool Champs. Or hell just keep rocking with Alder. He was a BAMF. He could have been The Unova Lance. Except rocking and being a boss with a Volcarona instead of a Dnite.
Elesa probably would have been a cooler champion as well, I don't really remember there being an electric one. At least the annoying three from the first gym are gone, kind of got used to kicking Cheren's ass. The reward for doing it just keeps getting better.

Spoiler:
there are rumors that those three are the shadow trio. whether or not GF actually followed up with that is a different story, but it would make them a hell of a lot more interesting. the first gym battle with three gym leaders and in the games introducing triple and rotation battles, and all we get is "Oh you have Tepig, well I have a parpour. trololo." So much wasted potential there.

I'd heard that the US is getting red, blue and black; whereas Europe is getting red, blue and silver. A bit odd if true, I wish they'd stuck with the aqua version.
I think they stopped selling Aqua because its sales have been way down. Which I think its strange, because it was a launch color and was a super seller then. *shrugs* whatevers
So gang, I have finally gotten around to starting Resident Evil Revelations. Little backstory: my only experience with Resident Evil is playing the original game back on PS1 and then watching a friend go through the GameCube remake. Well, I also played a couple of hours of Resident Evil 4 but lost my copy. In any case, I'm more familiar with the low-ammo, puzzle-solving style of RE than the run'n'gun style. Revelations has both but the spotlight is definitely on the survival horror. The game is ridiculously good fun for someone like me with good memories of the first game. The controls are a bit wonky without a second stick but you can get used to it. More than anything, I am simply astounded by the graphics. If you have a 3DS, there is no reason to get this game.
Should pick up 2 and 3 then. 4 was the start of the run and gun feel of the series. Sadly it went in more of the action direction, sort of stopped following the series there.

Yea IVe got the demo, and definitely plan on getting it though. I agree, the graphics are just crazy nice, and on a gameboy no less! er.....3DS, 3!!DS!!
Well as said, Im a bit miffed, as I just bought my 3DS when the midnight purple came out. I asked THEN if they planned on having an XL (mainly because I need a bigger screen to focus on better) and was told Nintendo has said nothing. Now a month later, HEY WE ARE HAVING AN XL! YIPPIEE!!!!!!!............................... DAMMIT!
As good as MH4 looks, it'll probably never see a North American or European release. Capcom seems to hate the idea of bringing it over, no matter how much people ask for it (but they're more than happy to give us Lost Planet sequels nobody asked for).
You can see a lot of Dragon's Dogma in the MH4 trailers, and honestly, that's a good thing. I loved climbing on monsters and really traversing all the difficult terrain in Dogma, and it would transfer over wonderfully to MH. You can tell that Dogma was a test bed for concepts that would work their way into MH. But considering Capcom's outrageous and lofty expectations for Dogma, and how well it actually did... (it did okay, but Capcom lately doesn't think a game's worth it unless it has Call of Duty levels of sales, it seems) don't expect much hope for MH either.
It's a shame, because I bought my 3DS after seeing the original Japanese announcement trailer for MH4 (and now, knowing Capcom's attitude towards NA/EU, I regret that decision). If I didn't already have a 3DS, I would buy one just for MH4.
It's a real shame too, considering that there's really nothing even close to MH on the 3DS to begin with. The 3DS desperately needs expansions to its library (hell, having bought my 3DS around 4 months ago, I still only have two games for it, Tales of the Abyss, which sucks, and Resident Evil: Revelations), and MH4 would be such a huge boon for the system.
Agreed. I too think Nintendo needs to get its ass in gear and start pumping out some awesome games for the system. Ive only 1 game so far, Legend of Zelda Ocarina of time, and although good, Im getting bored with it. Im really looking forward to super mario 2 and luigis mansion, but thats it for the rest of the year. Add to the fact that theres only a few older games I want to check out, so really 5 or 6 in total? Thats not very good at all. Ill be honest, sometimes I regret buying the system. Also, lets not forget the Nintendo shop games, theres only a handful that actually look good, the rest are either garbage or made for the DSi, which as a 3DS owner, I dont really give a gak about, I want something for MY system, not the hand me down I gave my son
Tales of the Abyss is pretty good if you like the Tales games.
I have about 5 games that are JUST for the 3DS.
Zelda, Star Fox, Kid Icarus, Mario Kart, and Tales of the Abyss. (and a ton of the core Pokemon games)
Out of all of those games, Only 2 were actually MADE for the 3ds (not remakes from other systems) And only one was not a Sequel we've seen on every Nintendo Console.
And No one agrees with me on the awesomeness of Kid Icarus. But two of them I know Johnny Yong Bosch did VA work for, so I guess that makes up for it.
I think things will start picking up when SSB3ds(or whatever they call it) comes out, but I can understand what KC is talking about. I remember buying the 3DS release day and playing pokemon on it for about 3-4 straight months until Zelda came out.

Genesect is Bug/Steel and it's signature move, Techno Blast changes type depending on one of four held items.
It was apparently made by Team Plasma, according to the Pokédex
The folks at Smogon have been playing with him for a while in the Dream World Meta. While his sounds like he should work like Scizor, but with Special Moves instead of Physical, He's pretty lackluster. I was really disappointed when I tried him out.
To be fair though, Genesect has a great movepool. Most Special pokemon would kill for a Movepool with ice beam, Flamethrower, and Thunderbolt. Boltbeam is amazing coverage and anything that resists boltbeam is at least fire Neutral, usually fire weak.
There's actually something that resists boltbeam now? I haven't played since 4th gen, but up until then, there was nothing in the game that resisted both.
IMO the only ones to be worried about in OU would be mamoswine and Magnezone.
Heat Rotom is....ok, but if I'm packing a fire type in OU, we are either talking infernape, Volcarona, or Heatran. Maybe a Scarf darmanitan if everything just needs to die a horrible death and I can't afford the ice Weakness from haxorus.
frost rotom....Just no.
I forgot Laturn was even a pokemon, and If you see a Seaking, it will probably have Swift swim on a rain dance team.
But of the two that are actually used in OU, they both are weak to flamethrower and resist boltbeam.
To N0t_u, only if they have Lightingrod as an ability.
I just dislike that in wi-fi battles, you can't spam Ludicolo with Leftovers, Rain Dish, Leech Seed, Giga Drain, Water Pulse, and Double Team. Darn limit of one. I need a Dream World Blastoise for more Rain Dish-y action!
I didn't use rain dance, just the Ability Rain Dish. A Politoed or Kyogre would be required, meaning that Ludicolo+Blastoise+Kyoogre= 3 Water types. I pity anyone using that lineup against Zekrom...
Iur_tae_mont wrote:Why Rain dance in OU? Just nab Politoed. He gets Drizzle as a Dream World Ability.
I played 4th before Dream World existed, silly whippersnapper.
Still have fond memories of running Suicune as a lead, and my opponents having no idea what to do about it. By time they figure out what the hell's going on, you've already got a raindance and possibly a CM/Surf down.
Of course, with 5th gen being crazy offensive, poor Suicune just doesn't cut it anymore.
I'm not really sure what the dream world thing is. But, at least I don't run as many "theme" lists as before. 3 Squirtle, 2 Wartortle and a Blastoise is fun, but too much room for weakness.
Though we did sort of move from having to capture them all to just seeing them. That trailer was nice, sort of funny he was carrying just one bullet though. That part with the WiiU controller had a nice Alien feel to it.
Yea, they use the tablet controller for many things in that game, and usually they make it a bit more dangerous for you, the player, because you dont have a weapon ready to use the function. I think its going to be a friggin BAD ASS game. Its probably one of the 2 Ill pick up when I get my WiiU.
OK ya hookers, back to your lame-O pokemon discussion
KingCracker wrote:I just love the earthquake attacks. I usually paired my rocks with something that flew, and then just earthquaked the gak out of my opponents
I used to pair a Tyranitar with Earthquake with a Flygon (whose ability was Levitate).
Time for me to make a non-Pokémon-related post (GASP)
I've played a 3DS XL. Bizarrely, the resolution of the screens seems better, more detailed. Maybe this was their plan all along. There was a demo one at the local(ish) Gamestation, and I took a look. It's smoother than the current one, more in line with today's smartphones. I like the blocky charms of my Aqua Blue 3DS, but it looks like a slick piece of kit.
Fun Quiz: What does DS stand for?
Spoiler:
Actually, it's not Dual Screen. It's Developer's System, relating to the fact that the handheld was intended to be easy to develop software for.

Well back to Pokemon I guess. Should probably get its own thread at this rate.
Started up white then looked at the team I had come up with somehow... Anyway I have a Gardevoir and I was wondering if psychic or psyshock was a better choice. It also has energy ball, wish and calm mind.

Either, there's very little difference, to be honest
Hmm. Shock seems to do less damage at times, but I guess with energy ball I could keep it to cover both physical and special. Now back to trying to figure out how to make petal dance Lilligant work better...
That's why I'm building it that way in the first place. Move sets are about as close as I get to competitive.
So far have petal dance, quiver dance, sleep powder and dream eater. The last two are more or less the main problem. Her move set is kind of limited so it needs something not grass to fit in there at least, but then it's probably going to have to be hidden power (which for this one was tested to be bug if I remember correctly). Sort of have that missing something feeling about it. More or less my first grass since back in g/s/c I think. Hated all the starters so traded it out for the Petilil and went with that as the main so far.
That's likely the best moveset, you've got some grassy damage, the ability to put people to sleep and confuse them, and drain health. Coverage isn't great, and it's screwed against Houndoom. But you can Teeter dance dance to confuse it, then switch out.
Teeter Dance has been working out somewhat. Put them to sleep then on the expected last turn I use it so they wake up confused about it all.
Though QD had a nice boost to it I guess.
As for the rest of my team. I always seem to be firmly in UU/RU.
Took a bit to get one together that I liked, but I think I've more or less got it now. I still don't worry too much about IVs and EVs or even natures that much. But, I do put a little effort into it still. I just more or less go with ones I like and avoiding Blastoise for the first time since R/B/Y. Need a change I guess. Not all of them even have set items yet.
Some of them like the Skarmory are a little confused as well. The spikes seem to work but I am unsure of Fly, may switch it out for Aerial Ace or something. I'm also unsure of the wish on the Gardevoir. As for the Flamethrower, I've just always liked it more than Fire Blast due to the accuracy and the fact that it seems to always miss when I use it.
Hadn't really thought of doubles. I guess I'd just swap out some things or something.
Have a few supports in reserve like Blissey, Wobuffet and Wish Vaporeon. Probably just use Blissey and add Heal Pulse or something. Not sure what to swap out for it though, but it would make a nice wall for either team. Maybe Skamory since it seems to be my main wall so far and out of the whole team seems the least put together.
For Skarm, I would do Brave bird over Steel Wing, Whirlwind over Fly, and change the Nature to Impish.
Gardevoir, I would do Psyshock, Signal Beam, Focus Blast and Trick. and give her a Choice Scarf and trace.
With Chandelure, I would go with flash fire, so you cold switch him into fire attacks. Substitute Fire Blast, Shadow Ball and Energy Ball is what I run on my Chandelure. Because they will be switch to their chandelure counter when he comes in, might as well get a sub up so they can't OHKO it.
Any other good alternative fliers? Took a while to come to Skarmory seeing as there didn't appear to be much variety with them. They also felt mandatory due to fly helping with transport, but when it comes to battle I guess it wouldn't hurt to just leave them in the box all together and go with something else?
I've been somewhat tempted to run an ice type for a while, but every time I've come to try to place it in a team they've just been shadowed by whatever water type I pick; which usually comes first. So far I've got Froslass and Glaceon in mind. The other thing stopping me is how common fire and fighting are to me, considering I battle my brother the most and those are the types he likes most. Not to mention sadly the role an ice type can fit in seems to be filled by just putting an Ice Beam or two in the team.
Brave Bird, Close Combat, Double Edge and U-turn with a choice band is pretty sick.
Now if everything absolutely, positively, must fething die(and you have good prediction skills). You could do Choice Band Haxorus with Mold Breaker.
Outrage Earthquake, Brick break, and Dual Chop coming off an absurd 648 attack? damn near OHKOs any Wall in OU. The only thing that really messes him up is his trollishly low Base Speed of 97 and he's got a bit of a glass jaw. Skarm is his only real counter. Because Skarm can come in on Outrage, live and then heal it off with roost.
I guess Surf still has somewhat of a place, like in 4's doubles team up there but of course fitting in with the no duplicates restriction. So it hits and heals at the same time. But the amount of times I've seen Scald's burn proc when they have the tiniest sliver of health left, only for the burn damage to take it away. Not to mention my Milotic seems to enjoy their reduced attack.
Not really. Normal attacks.....Normally sucks on any pokemon that doesn't get STAB from them. And then only if their movepool sucks so much that you don't have good coverage.
Return is better than Strength, because it has a Attack power of 102 with max friendship.
The only time I can think of another Normal move that would be worth using, it would be Giga Impact on Slaking(he's not doing anything next turn anyways, might as well make a slaking sized hole in the enemy team.) or Tribeam on Porygon. Maybe Double Edge on Staraptor.
True, but exceptional for coverage. With only two resisting types and one type immune, Normal will put a dent in any of the other 14 types- and moves like Strength, with their high accuracy and decent power are always a good choice AFAIK.

Or Bodyslam on Snorlax. But then again, Snorlax. But then again, 4th and 5th gen weren't too kind to the big lug.

As he said, Return is objectively better than Strength, and even then, Normal's typing is not impressive at all. There are many attack types out there that are resisted by 3 or less defensive types, while also having very powerful strengths.
Unless the normal attack gives you a special ability or STAB on an already powerful move (Strength is not a powerful move), you're almost always better off taking Ice, Fighting, or Earth in almost every circumstance.
I'll keep an eye out. In a perfect world someone would come across a female one to pass on the ability. There's also an event Porygon going on at the moment with the Dream World. Comes with Analytic of course which some may find interesting. Password for it is pretty easy to find as well and can be found here.
ITs been confirmed that Luigis Mansion as well as Castle Vania Mirrors of Fate WILL be held back until 2013. Im upset. I am REALLY excited about Luigis Mansion, now Ive got to wait till next year. Oh well.
BUT something cool.
In Japan (so really it wouldnt be too hard to get your hands on these) they have released a couple cool things. Firstly
The Mario Brothers Money Banks
And you guessed it, it makes the coin sound.
AND lastly.
If your a MegaMan Fan
But I dont expect to see these anytime soon, because they are around 170 bucks. Ouch.
Well just doing a google search, all Im seeing is year old or more sites about it either coming to the 3DS or being on hold. So I wouldnt hold my breath on that one
Prof Layton vs Phoenix Wright almost finished, according to the developer. I hope they release it in Europe and the US; it sounds like a great combination of two quality games.
That's been in development for a bit now. I don't doubt we'll see it showing up worldwide.
I also finally got a 3DS earlier this month. I remembered mentioning in passing and got the LoZ one for my birthday. Don't really care the bigger one is going to be out shortly, I like this one more.
Im still pretty irritated about how they handled the 3DSXL. What kind of game company doesnt let its buyers know earlier then 1 month before sales? Thats just fething stupid. I bought my midnight purple, because the color is awesome, only to find out a few weeks later they are selling an XL version for only a little more money.
Automatically Appended Next Post: Oh well, I still want Super Mario Brothers 2
Not really that new. Gen 3 have been out for about 10 years. All of the remakes, except Kanto, came out 10 years and two generations after the originals.
The only reason Kanto came out as early as it did was the first two generations were only three games long.
ALSO! September 1 through I think september 30, Keledo will be released in the US at gamestop.
So strangely faith in humanity slightly restored. Been throwing up female Riolus on the GTS for a female Glaceon for a while hoping to finally get a decent one I could train up or something; saves some time.
Finally got one (well a decent one have a few sitting around now), level 2, Ice Body. Which if I remember right means I can now breed myself stuff like Magic Guard Espeon I think. They even threw a Razz berry on it.
I havnt bothered buying a Pokemon game in years. The way I see it, if I could play a game like Customrobo2000 on a ds, then Pokemon games have no excuse not to pump up the graphics and such. Im going to wait until they finally dont look like FF3 on Super Nintendo. Dont get me wrong, FF on SuperNintendo is where its at, but that was how many decades ago?
That's sort of what I was hoping they'd do for the 3DS gen when they finally get to it. I usually have the 3D turned off anyway.
At the moment we just have their sort of blocky sprites jumping around all the time during battle like a hyped up kid. What we're getting the next is their trainers will also move for the 5 seconds they're actually shown at the start and maybe the end.
I dont want to sound like a graphics whore, because one of my all time fav games is still Morrowind and I still play it and the graphics dont bother me what so ever. BUT, I own a 3DS, Ive played resident evil on it, so I expect Nintendo 3DS worthy graphics on the fether, not something my Super Nintendo can push

I'm a huge graphics whore, I just give pokemon a slide is all.
Yea, but at least with GW we usually get leaks of some impressively good proof most times. Nintendo is pretty much nothing until its them announcing it.
As for the WiiU price, its widely speculated to be $300ish. So if it is, thats a really solid price I think, and should help to give Nintendo the edge at the start. If so, I hope they keep the momentum up, because Ill be pissed if a year after I buy mine, Ive still got the same 5 games IVe had for nearly the same time
Could you lot imagine Pokemon on the WiiU?!?! *drools*
Most of the games magazines were after the touchscreen acting as a permanent PC. Can you imagine? That would be terrible. You can use PCs to heal, and it would defeat the point of the six-strong party.
It'll be good, but nothing revolutionary. That's how Nintendo works.
Yeh, I think they did it best in HG/SS and need to get something back to that. Persistent menu on touch screen, toggle running? Why were they removed?
Though it could be interesting if they decide to change it by messing with the party size. Not that there's anything wrong with sticking with six as always.
Pokedex 3D and Dream Radar. Like Face Raiders crossed with Luigi's Mansion and then wrapped in a package that gives you an alternate forme for each of the Kami Trio (The dudes on clouds).
I put it on my 3DS for my son, and although I dont have the updated one, the original only had a small handful of pokemon on it. So he was bored rather quick
Good news Phoenix Wright fans: Ace Attorney 5 confirmed to be in development for 3DS. Now, Capcom, how about localising the Miles Edgeworth sequel for us to play in the meantime?
Fudge that, if I can only have 1 wish for a port to the American markets, itll be monster hunter 4 for the 3DS. I watched a few vids of the Japanese version the other day, and man I got so giddy! Id love to be able to play that, being a lazy fatass in my comfy chair for a few hours
Ok, a distribution company somehow leaked 3 price points for the Wii U. Its set to launch on Nov.11 and the 3 price points are 249.99, 299.99 and 349.99. Its looking like theres probably going to be some bundles and such for the launch of the WiiU. Id imagine the 349.99 probably comes with 2 tablet controllers and a game, would be my guess.
KingCracker wrote: Capcom has confirmed that some form of Monster Hunter game WILL be released on the 3DS some time this year in North America! WHOHOOOO!!!
Well, now I actually have a reason for owning my 3DS.
Yea, after beating Ocarina of Time, Ive pretty much only used my 3DS to watch netflix in my bedroom to get away from the kids. This news makes me a very happy fella
Yup, theres a pretty solid line up, a release date, AND price points
2 different console options
$299 for basic console and tablet controller w/8g memory and in white
$349 comes with the basic set, but in black AND comes with 32g memory and NintendoLand
Ill just leave the site link for all the games and vids, since theres a bunch of them.

I think I'll prolly be in for the black one, but I might wait till early next year to pick it up.. as long as it doesn't end up being a camp out at circuit city at 7 am on a sunday and only the first 8 people in line get one kinda thing, like the old wii. Happened to me before, and I was #8 the #9 guy offered me $50 to take my space but I said no.

As I understand it, Gamestop sold out all pre-orders of the black edition on day one of pre-orders, so I imagine that you would be looking at a scenario like that.
Id say just wait for them. Im not going to be picking mine up til tax season anyways, so March-ish. Which is better anyways, because they will have near 40 games by then....supposedly. And Im sure by then, I would be able to go anywhere and find one
