You don't say?
VERY nice Combined Army stuff here - I might borrow some of your MOrat color schemes too!

You´re welcome! I have to say I´m not very experienced in playing the Moratas stand alone army. But now I´ll give them a try. Right now I´m working on a Yaogat Link team. I think theese guys are awesome. Morat seem to be real brutal bastards hammering down the enemy. I will make some games to look what they can do.

You have some absolutely wonderful models!
I just saw your PanOceania stuff as well! Shame on this world for ignoring such wonderful work. You should ressurect that Plog with the addition of these models and make note of it in the Infinity P&M Thread in this section so people will know to look for it. It is a travesty that should not happen again!
On a note for the morats... you have a great bit of detail on these guys, but you skipped out on the eyes? Going to go back and do that later?

Thank you very much. I´ll do the eyes later that´s right. Right now I´m searching for a good color scheme for the Sasvastii...I´m trying and trying but I´m not happy with them...

Update time!!!
Working on my Shasvastii again...here they come...
Noctifier
Gwailos (still WIP, the grey is still missing on the armor)
and the last Seed Soldier...
Right now I´m thinking about the bases of my Combined. I´ll change the Morat Bases and do Dead Earth bases to all of them...
Enjoy!

Here´s another update...I´d like to get my sh.. done. First of all...the Anathematic. I added green to the armor, I wanted to have another color not making him too bright or colorful...hope you like him... The tentacles are hell to glue, I´ll have to pin them I think... Next is the Skaivoros, this is a WIP, but I´m in trouble with this little guy. Think I didn´t do it well this time, the colors don´t fit to the model. I perhaps will strip it and paint it again, giving him a more green color like the Shavastiis I painted in this block. Perhaps you could help me with my decision...what do you think? Should I start again or just leave it and do more detail on the edges and son on? Have fun! I´m always happy for critics and comments!

You know, I was planning a slick blue, white and grey scheme for my Morats. Then I saw this thread and now that plan is out the window. The bone and purple looks great on them. I am totally stealing that scheme. Just one question, did you use only a brown wash, or did you use other colored washes on them as well?

You´re welcome. I´m happy to inspire you ;-)
I used Vallejo Game and Model Colors for the Morat. First Khaki washed with GW Griffon sepia. Right now it´s out of stock I use Army Painter Wash Soft Tone. The I highlight the color with Ice Blue, using more and more of it for every layer. If you like I´ll do a tutorial when I´m working on the next Morat...
68139
Post by: Barzam
Please do. Those colors work really well on them. So you used Ice Blue? I couldn't even tell. Thanks.
63430
Post by: medusa
So...here comes the Skaivoros. I had some issues with this guy, but I changed the grey to get a softer contrast than the step before. Now he´s looking nice I think. I hope you like him. I think all my AI stuff should look like Skai and the Anathematic, they are grim beasts and should look like that. I will use this colors for the other AIs too. Hope they will look nice wihtin the other Combined stuff. I´ll have to change the bases I did, don´t think the grey will fit to the AIs. I will experiment with that later. I think I´ll do some red brown or something like that.
So, now for the tutorial. I have some Daturazi here I wanted to paint for a longer time. Here we go. I´m not used to make tutorials and not a native speaker so foregive me if I´m not very good in doing it.
step 1:
I cover all parts of the armor with Vallejo Khaki and wash it with Griffon Sepia or Army Painter Soft Tone.
step 2:
I use Khaki again just painting the higher parts of the armor, So I quickly get some shadow.
step 3:
Now I´m starting to mix a small amount of Vallejo Ice Blue into the Khaki and use it again over the higher parts, just leaving a little bit of the pure Khaki...
step 4t-6t:
I´m mixing more and more Ice Blue to the Khaki and use thin layers onto the armor.
step 7:
Now I just do the edges with Iceblue with a small amount of Khaki
step 8
I use pure Ice Blue for the last details...
And voila! There comes the Daturazi (still WIP but you can see the ready armor)
As you can see I don´t use too much colors, here I just used two and a wash. So it´s not complicated using it for all Morats out there...
Hope you like it.

Thanks. The last days I was buisy rebasing my complete Combined stuff. Thought it was time to get nice bases for all of them. I will post the rest of all the other minis later on.

Thanks mate! This is exactly what I tried to do. I wanted to give all different parts of CA a different look but it was necessary to get an unique feeling for all of them when playing a vanilla list. So I hope the bases and the colors like purple or green will make them look united.

Hey, Great stuff! I like the purple armor, may even have to snag the idea for a few of my Shasvastii if you don't mind. Ill second what CDK said, the variety in color scheme is nice and helps define each type of model.
How did you make the Gwailos shields?I have 3 of them coming in the mail and would love to make some shields for them. I was going to paint on some plastic wrap and dunk it in acrylic glaze, then let it dry hanging from a wire to harden..this looks much easier though.
Seed soldiers are so cool looking, seems people give them a lot of hate over on the CB forums in terms of gameplay but still one of the cooler looking sculpts imo.

The shields where part of the blisters, every Gwailo came with two shields (one orange, one purple). Like the hacker´s hacking shields. I just cut it out and glued it to the bases. Later I put some of this nice dead earth putty on the bases and painted them, voila!
I like the seeds look too but they are one of the crappiest line infantry in the game IMO. When I play Shas I don´t use them much and in Vanilla lists I take Morat. They are fluffwise cool stuff but the just pop out in the second turn making them handle difficult...And they aren´t a very good link team. But I played a lot of Morat in the last months in our Paradiso campaign, I will give them a try again...

Don´t think so...
"The Seed-Embryo stands still, without moving, giving one Order to the Order Reserve of its army until its player’s second turn, or until the next player’s turn following its deployment."
74386
Post by: Victor.Drellings
Turn following its deployment, so if i deploy first then my opponent goes first for the first turn, that first turn is the turn following the seeds deployment, thus hatching on my first turn.
also if he decides to shoot at your seed prior to your first turn or act against it, it instantly hatches during his turn and reacts as normal. Or so it seems based on a very literal reading of the rules.
I may be wrong but idk.

mmm rocket launcher. I may still be wrong but what I think it is, is not strictly a disadvantage and being forced to miss a turn with them but perhaps a reason for Shas to go second in a game over first.

I like them. I love the models and they are a bit different to the creepy Camo guys. It´s a bit sad to get only a 4-man-link with them now but it´s a nice opportunity to use sheskiin. Think, they are the only ones like a brick in the Shas lists (except the Sphinx, the wonderful Sphinx). I like the Nano Screen idea and the weapons they got even if they are a bit expensive... Is his gun too bright do you think? I couldn't figure out what kind of weapon it even is. I figured it was probably an energy weapon and just painted as such. I think I did lose a bit of the detailing on him though on account of a mishap with my glue going nuts out of the bottle and my primer possibly going on too thick. I actually did highlight his exposed skin on his feet and face, but my lighting wasn't the best when I took those pictures.
Thanks for the kind words though.

It's an "HMG" analogue (their combi rifles look more "normal" ).
Although having it be a coilgun version instead of our primitive chemical slug throwers is Skiffy enough - even though Morats are only supposed to be at the contemporary human tech level.

No. I do not think it is too bright. Works wellIMO. I often get too dark with my colors. I am a bit too lazy doing a lot of layers and often forget to do hard edges. I try but theres so much stuff to do and I like darker tones for CA. Your glowing HMG is very nice. I think e en the Morat are no tech race they work a very long time for the EI and it will have given them weapons and equipment to solve their tasks. Working for a super intelligence will bring some nice features like weapon technology and other stuff. That is the reason I paint all my Combined weapons in the same dark grey and glowing green like I paint the aspects of the EI. Think the EI will produce the army's weapons and give them to them...

I'm kind of stuck figuring out what kind of paste does what, exactly, and since what you're doing is basically the effect I want most anyway just a name of what I should order would be a great help!
And again thanks for the help with the green colours etc; really make painting EI fun
