When I was 16 I started painting minis and played a ton of Tabletop games like 40k,WHFB, Titanicus at its time. I took a break from the gaming community for around 18 years. I decided to comeback after my life was settled down and began to build and paint my Armies. After taking a break I have started again 2023.

Then ( I am surprised I still have these mini's)
I have always enjoyed doing Chaos.
Automatically Appended Next Post: My new armies have just begun....I started with the Dark Vengeance set good value for getting back into the game itself esp with rule changes etc.
I also discovered even painting techniques have changed some. Dry Brushing was not used as much back them. I used to paint with 2-3 hair brushed just to hit fine lines. Washing was an old school Citadel Ink Wash.
Wish an airbrush for basecoat and primer I started. I use Vallejo Model Color Paint exclusively unless I need something in Citadel.
My completed Chaos Cultists ( I may re varnish them I don't like the dull coat to much)
Automatically Appended Next Post: Next I moved onto the DV set Hellbrute. Great model very Chaos. My first attempt did not work out so well the pigments pretty much dusted up the Model. Then I fixed it.
Original
Fixed Vallejo Pigments for mud and rust/oil. Also pick up Sack Of Skulls from Secret Weapon to add to the base. I used to use skeleton kits back in the day.
Then came my Chaos Landraider....
Original
Then after some feedback and some ideas I ended up with this as a final. All Magnetizing the doors and sponsons. And top weapons are all removable and swappable for gaming purposes and transport.
At the same Time I started working on the Chosen from the DV boxset.
Original
After some thought I decided to work on a set of terminators. I bought the kits and Forgeworld Bits. I also could not resist on KHORNE WORLD EATERS TERMINATOR LORD ZHUFOR.
My Finished ones now after redoing touching them up. Had the same dull coat I did not care for and need a better washing /glaze....
Next 2 are magnatized Arms and Banners.
So I decided to pick up some Raptors/ Warptalons kit along with Kharn...
Defiler was fun to build the pain to magnetize but, it is finished thus far. I may choose to add some skulls later date.
Back to the DV set. Since I am doing chaos I decided to convert the Ravenwing Bikes...WIP Little bit of a kit bash to get the front ends but, some green stuff etc. I think it came along together.
I'm not sure you should redo the cultists: I think the colours are exactly right for the simpleton commoners most cultists are
One note though, not sure if I'm correct on this one as I've little experience with it, but the blood on the cultist's weapons seems to be in the wrong places. Especially with the axe, you'd expect the tips to be the most covered in blood.
EDIT: apparently you only want to redo the layer of varnish, I should read better in the future... At least we're on the same page then

Yeah a few models like the cultists I haven't redone.
Thank You for the kind words. Yeah when I started getting back into 40k I bought the DV set. However I am not a fan of painting the Raven Wing Bikes. (I was building a CSM army anyway. So, I converted them with some Berserker bits and Khorne symbols. I even had some GW skulls laying around I mounted with some green stuff to the head plates. The Lord (no helm is Zhufor). The Hardest part was cleaning out the area to mount that head. (removing the original head).

If you wanna give your gold abit more shade and depth without resorting to washes, try doing a layer of bronze/tin before applying a thing cover of gold, it looks kinda thick right now

Yeah it's not really thick. My camera phone is picking up all the gloss on the mini's making it appear a bit thick. I see what you're talking about. I'll post new pics soon.
So the magnetizing has begin. To give me the option of either to play on the table. Such a nice sculpt for a model can't wait to get it painted.
WIP Magnets done on 1st one. Both will be done similar. I plan to add machine screws in the base bottom to hold the legs. Pinning isn't strong enough to hold the angle.
Nice work! Was it a difficult to get the fiend magnetized? I'm starting to put mine togheter and it doesn't seem that complicated, but it's those middle legs that has me abit worried. Does the model rest on them when you have it as a forgefiend or is the entire thing held up by the back legs? Will the back legs hold it? I know plastic glue is strong, but as you said, it's a nice model, I wanna treat it right =)

Magnetizing wasn't that hard just a bit of work. Most magnets sit right in the sockets with some greenstuff and superglue. I cut the ball joints off of every other item that went into any of the sockets. Middle legs aren't that hard just can't attach them to the base since the Maulerfiend doesn't use them. Yes the back legs are the only ones you attach to the base. That's why I used the machine screws to base it. However you can just glue it to the base depending on your base. In my case I was using rock for my lava base and the cork as we all know isn't a solid base also in this case I can always break down the entire model for transport (I took the video ideas another step, why not just be able to remove it from the whole base.). Placement of the Maulerfiend right arm took some planning ahead of time due to the fact that it rests on t he floor in the original model. The hardest part was drilling the ball sockets on the Forgefiend arms to get the weapons to swap because there are 2 magnets on those small parts. One to attach to the base the other to the weapon choices of Ectoplasma Cannons or Hades Autocannons. You may need to get extra bits for the little tubes on the weapons since the model only comes with a pair. I also greestuff the Shoulder Armor to the body of the model since they usually attach to the arms again you can order more bits or do it my way.
Fantastic work on the magnetising! If you were closer, I'd try to convince you to let me pay you to assemble and magnetise my own one that still sits on the sprue for the day I assemble it.
Azazelx wrote: Fantastic work on the magnetizing! If you were closer, I'd try to convince you to let me pay you to assemble and magnetize my own one that still sits on the sprue for the day I assemble it.
Thank you so much. Yeah at this point in my life I barely have time to build/play with my army no less work on someone else's. As I said I took some ideas from the videos and added some of my own. I plan on painting soon and working/building on the 2nd one. These guys will be the brothers of Khorne Daemon Engine of War.
Azazelx wrote: One hell of a lot of gold trim on all those Berserkers! Lava base is looking good as well.
Thank you so much. Yeah the Zerkers are taking a hell of a long time esp that trim. Been bouncing back and forth between the 2 maulerl/forge fiends (still working on the 2nd magnetizing assembly)and the Zerkers. I hope to have more pics soon as the end of the week. (one can hope)
Well doing some details and some work on my zerkers. I still have a little more paint, washing, glaze over red and gold to brighten them up some, highlighting and weathering. I figure I share what I have....thus far
2 have not had one arm attached for painting reason. They cross the chest of the model.
Updated: Almost done with these guys. With some Raptor parts and a little bit of bit swapping. These Zerkers are almost done. Should be finished real soon. Some Highlighting, Weathering and a little more Base work. I will be finished.
Looks awesome! Just noticed how great you've posed them aswell, I found it kinda hard to do since the running legs are difficult to get right. I think the one with the dual sword is my favorite

Thank you so much for the kind comments. Yeah the Dual Swords are one of my favs as well. I took the one sword arm from some Raptor kits I had left over.
I'll be posting finished ones soon enough. Then onto finishing both Mauler / Forgefiends.
So I finally got my Zerkers finished. I am rather pleased with the outcome. I may go back and touch up and add some chipping to the armor. It's not a priority though as of right now they are finished.
Standard bearer
Powerfist

Onward to my Mauler/ Foregfiend Multipart projects. Enjoy
Glory to Khorne! The plasma looks great, gives some nice contrast to all the red. Have you considerd adding some grass to the bases? It would also give some nice contrast.
Also, you really need a better camera, your phone doesn't do the models justice

Thank you for the kind words again. Yeah I thought about adding grass but, I am looking more for an earthy feel I have some lava bases on some other models ( I am looking for tuff soon that fits the theme I am using Army Painter Wasteland Tuft, 6mm When it gets here. I will update all models with it.). I know, I really hate my camera phone everything looks so dark.
So after some research on my Camera phone I found a mode that I had on it that may help with my photos. LOL Makes me wonder how I missed the mode. I set up a bit better lighting. These are just some quick snaps....When I get my grass tuffs I will update all my mini's with better photos.
squall018 wrote: I simply love your land raider. All the added details really bring it to life. Awesome job!
Thank you so much . I can thank the community on some feedback on it before it was complete. I made it magnetized so I can swap out almost anything on it. Unfortunately I can't find those pile of skulls anymore. GW doesn't carry/make them anymore.
Here is an update on the latest Forge/ Maulerfiend Magnetized. Main colors and base at about 85% done. Needs more color a few wash and highlight / glaze. Model isn't mounted yet.
Nashbashem wrote: Good looking stuff. Your making me feel bad that I am yet to add Khorne units to my own CSM
BLOOD FOR THE BLOOD GOD!
Thank you so much. Yeah, I wouldn't feel bad because GW really ruined close combat lately. However they did make maulerfiends better . I am looking forward to progressing my army and it's continues growth. Right now I got some Forgeworld conversion kits for my CSM's.
djphranq wrote: Wicked awesome colors! I love the blue with the red.
Dag... now I want to play Codex: CSM
Thank you so much. Yeah it took me some time to decide what to do with the underbelly. I did not care for the skin tones that GW showcased. SO I used a color I used in my armies theme. I mainly used it on cloak and banners to make the rest of the colors pop some. Since I used such a Dark Red for main color. I did wash it recently with some nuln oil so it's not so bright anymore I will re highlight as needed. More to come soon.
So I decided to see how far I can go with magnetization of the new Hellbrute kit. Plan to add 3 to my Army for the Mayhem pack. Yet I wanted options so here it goes. I am around 98% done with the initial setup before paint.
Base Parts
Both Arms done the same way
Right Shoulder For 3 Weapon Mounts
3 Mounted Weapons
Right Shoulder 2 Weapon Mounts This one was tricky and took planning ahead.]
Other Mount Options Left Power fist needs to be finished and Armor Plate / Dual Bolters have to be magnetized.
Updated : After some fiddling with the Arms and variants. While a bit of work I am happy with the outcome. All I need now is some paint.
I got tired of the big blank spaces that the Hellbrute model left when not attaching all the hoses. I used a lot of them just not on all the arms. Not to mention they did not give the kit enough fuel cells.
Powerfist left arm
Heavy Flamer Right Arm
Comi- Bolter Right Arm
This one took a bit of thinking since I only had one fist but needed 2 variants. So.....
Powerfist / Combi Bolter
Sample Variants With and without tubing. Tubing are attached to arms not torso.
Adding my WIP Khorne Lord On A Juggernaut and Khorne Warpsmith
I did not like the Warpsmith head not very World Eater IMHO So I took a nice Forgeworld one..
Making the Lord look 40kish without tearing apart the sculpt of the model itself. I had to decide what to keep....
Added a Combi-Bolter on his wrist.
Modified the Jump Pack
Automatically Appended Next Post: During the same time I am have my 2nd Mauler/ Forgefiend & 1 Hellbrute Magnetized Primed and base coated. Hope to have some finished work soon.
It's been sometime since I last updated this. I have 4 projects I am working on atm.
2nd Magnetized Mauler/Forgefiend
1 Warpsmith
1 Khorne Lord On a Juggernaut
1 Magnetized Hellbrute
Here are some WIP pics.
Automatically Appended Next Post:
I did run into a block on what color to do the Khorne Jug since the Lord has the same color. I am leaning towards a darker red or black but, ATM I have it based the same color red as the lord.
Well after some time with this. It's finally done. I hope the next Hellbrute won't take as long to Magnetize. These variants can be changed as needed for gaming purposes.
Warpsmith progress.... 95% complete. Needs highlights / touch ups. (World Eater Shoulder Pad Emblem) OSL on Power Axe, Tools and Weathering tuffs of grass on the base.
Nashbashem wrote: I've been away too long and there's some great stuff to see My favourite is your Helbrute. Really good with the magnets
Thank You so much.
Automatically Appended Next Post: Now for the Khorne Lord On A Juggernaut finished and ready to field.
I decided to go with a blended scheme of fire on a semi lava stream base. I felt the Juggernaut should look almost Demon like.
I added a Jumppack and some FW Khorne Logos and used a Combi /Storm Bolter from Grey Knights. I didn't want to lose the shield since he is Melee oriented and he needed some sort of range.
I am yet to use my conversion kit for World Eaters just sat in its pack. They look cool and cant wait to see how they turn out Oblits look good (better than GWs one that's for sure). The only slight niggle I have os that the last possessed helmet doesn't seem Khornate. More Tzeentchish. Maybe thats just me. Great stuff any way

Thank you again.
Yeah the Possessed has a Berserker shoulder pad. I might change a few things in process it's all WIP. The problem was the limitation of heads I don't have and I really don't want to throw a berserker Rabbit Ear head on them. My CSM and Berserker squads look the same with Forge and GW heads. I needed to mix it up some. The hardest part was putting the extra feet on them. (Warp talon Kit)
I do like the H itech minis for Oblits I modded them somewhat but, not enough to ruin the sculpt.
I'm sad we didn't get some new Berzerker models. Even thought the old ones still loke fine, they're really old now. But from what I've seen the raptors kit has some AMAZING bitz that goes great in a khorne army.
What Daemons are you looking to add?

Obliterators turned out great btw!
Thank you for the kind words.
Yeah , I think I will add a Bloodthirster and some Bloodletters and Fleshhouds. I am kind of up in the air until I see the formations in the codex. Yeah sad they didn't add new Zerkers but, I did make my main CSM with Foregworld Zerker parts.
So they look like zerkers but, they are tactical. I am working on my Lord Of Skulls as well and my 2nd Forge/Mauerfiend as we speak. Just been slow for me lately. I'll be finishing the Forge/Mauler this week I'll have pics soon.
New Bloodthirster kit looks so great, if I was more active with the hobby I'd pick it up right away.
I just went through the thread again and I have to say that I love that you choose to add so many blue details to your army. I'm a sucker for contrast and it really makes your models pop

Thank You. Yeah I added the blues for contrast but, also some people forget that the World Eaters were blue and white before there corruption to chaos.
It's been a little slow here but, I will be posting some pics later today of some of my WIP Lord Of Skulls. Not very much painted it's been a slow process for me the past could of months.
Spacewolverine wrote: Normally not a fan of Khorne but you make me a fan. Really like your Maulerfiends and Forgefiends, gives me some good ideas with magnetizing bases.
Thanks. I always try to maximize what you can get out of miniatures for gaming purpose. Esp. the bigger more expensive types.
Hardest part about this model was aligning the tank tracks to fit. I am very happy in the way they look on it great for grinding over to feed the Deamon Machine. Almost like a vacuum cleaner for Blood.
great blog! Archaon looks great, love the world eaters you've got going on (that mixed kit tac squad, lord of skulls, and the Maulerfiends are particular favourites so far)
keep it up!

Nice work on Angron, he looks suitably Angry, could be all the blood on his base!? The AOS chaps should be fun too.
Good luck restoring paints. Water and a stirring stick worked for me, though some were impossible to save. I’d probably use airbrush thinner and flow improver now though. I switched to dropper bottle which takes time, but I prefer and is actually quite easy (a blob of blue tac on the side of the funnel to keep a gap that allows air to escape and paint to flow in)

Thank you. Yeah I was able to restore more than I thought. I did have to replace quiet a bit but, that's ok. Yeah, drop of water shake and stir seemed to work on most. I'll try some airbrush thinner I have some laying around somewhere. Thanks
Stevefamine wrote: Keep it up! Are you glossing that blood up on the bases from earlier?
Thank you. Oh yeah they are far from done. Adding static grass and Blood for the Blood God technical paint. I may add some clear PVA glue before the technical paint..
Latest update on these. Too much to take pictures of the WIP I will post full pics when done. I did the bases for the most part still missing flock and a bit more like skulls being painted etc.
Flocking and trying to finish this group. I do have some cleaning up to do on some of these guys most of below is still WIP but, for the most part done.
RedSarge wrote: Nice looking bowl of Khorne flakes ya got there! XD
The Khornate symbol bearer is one heck of an impressive piece. Would go well mounted on a Fortress gate too.
Thank you. I did notice after blowing up the photos i need a bit more clean up on them. Going to touch them up a bit more and reseal and repost. I agree about the fortress gate. I'm almost at that point to start terrain but, I have such a back log. I still have 10 Blood Warriors to go, The New Model Of Kharn and god know how many rebases of some Berserkers.
