The material for these pieces will vary apparently, depending on the piece(s) in question. I am watching the twitch livestream here, and they are giving some info out about the unlocks and all during the stream.
KS crapping out again as always. I came in with 100+ slots left in Wave 2 and after 15 minutes of trying to get through the card processing I ended up in Wave 4.
Does it say anywhere what is up with EU being bundled in with the USA?
They still have the power, too.
When all hell's breaking loose they'll be riding the eye of the storm.
They've got the heart, They've got the motion.
You know that when things get to tough... they got the touch!
We don't seem to have as big of dragon in the base pledge like we did last time but I'm sure we'll have a nice selection of goodies by the time this thing finishes.
Plus they've already started in on the multipart expansions. That, I'd say, is currently a bit underwhelming.
The stretch goals should add quite a bit more. i am waiting for the US wave for add-ons to open up. I could not get into Wave 5 and just waiting for wave 6...
I'm in for a core set but what's in it, as usual, doesn't really strike my fancy. Past 3 KSers I've just gone add-ons only and piecemeal things from the core set I actually do like.
I've always sold off whatever bits I wasn't interested. In every campaign so far I've ended up not only having my (rather large) pledge paid for but still come out with more money than I went in with.
Sometimes what I'm into at the time may not be what I want when it actually arrives. Other figures I'll do an about face on my feelings toward as well. It happens. Enjoy the ride!

I was kind of curious how the resale on these works, but I guess if you can sell between fulfillment and retail, the price will trend higher.
I'll be keeping an eye on buying some random expansions if I like the minis enough. I still don't like Bones for normal sized figures (the Bones Black stuff has been better but still not as good as metal).
I'll be more interested in a few bigger baddie minis for my dungeon crawl.
PS: Will more than likely try the Dungeon Dwellers pledge. They're the best line of Reaper minis, and while I'd prefer metal, they seem to be digital sculpts and would take far better to Bones Black (I hope).

Exactly, I wouldn't buy a pledge just expecting to make a profit but if you move fast you should get a decent enough price for unwanted items.
I think Bones are a bit harder to justify now since the Nolzurs just feel like they are so much higher quality. They don't cover everything, but I have been super satisfied with Nolzurs, while bones tend to be hit or miss.
Of course, bones is by far the best option for bulk inexpensive minis.
Hmmm - 20 townsfolk for $20. Albiet the most uninteresting townsfolk I've ever seen outside of historical ranges (no offense to history). I might get them to stand around in the background of street scenes painted in drab colors. Not kidding.
We'll see what comes, but so far I'm wishing I'd thrown more money at the last one.
It is too bad that the material is so poor. If these were being done by cmon in their pvc material I'd be all over it. But they just lose so much detail in Bones they aren't worth painting.
Gallahad wrote: It is too bad that the material is so poor. If these were being done by cmon in their pvc material I'd be all over it. But they just lose so much detail in Bones they aren't worth painting.
the new |bones black| material is quite different from the older rubbery white bones material, and far superior. much harder, better details and mould lines can for the most part be scraped off.
They are on record that most if not all the smaller minis are going to be made in bones black.

Yeah, I got a number of items in Bones black from their last Kickstarter, and while it is an improvement, I still find the figures to have softer details than I find enjoyable to paint.
Dakka Flakka Flame wrote: So the Dungeon Dwellers expansion is something we can buy through the pledge manager later, right?
Yes, you just pledge whatever you want and then the Pledge manager lets you specify what you are and are not going to get with that money. It also lets you add more money and Reaper tends to leave it open for a pretty long time. Of course money added after the KS has two key differences:
1) It all goes to Reaper (no KS taking a cut)
2) It won't unlock new stretch goals. So ideally you pledge for as much as you need/can afford during the campaign to help toward unlocking more. There is utterly no shame at all in putting down a £1 pledge and adding more in the manager later.
They've just added a Ballista for $6 to the options. This, plus the catapult for $6, is a definite buy from me. I am hoping they aren't too large, so I can fit them on a 50mm base easily for Kings of War, but regardless, they are a great buy.
I can see myself wanting multiples of those, the $14 Dragon Aganzarax (one of the nicest dragons of theirs I have seen), potentially the War Mammoth, and most likely the Dungeon Dweller add-on. I also will want the Elf Rangers from the core set, as well as multiples of the goblins from the Dungeon Dweller set.
I am really liking the offerings for this KS, though I will have to be mindful of the size of such things. When I got the Silver Dragon and Flying Roc from the last one, I didn't expect them to be as massive as they are. Still fantastic though.
Yeah, they need some Sir Forscales in their for reference.
Without a doubt I'll end up with that Daimyo expansion.
Samurai Dinosaurs are something I've long wanted. Might as well get their fantasy counterparts while I'm at it!
I’m going to have to pledge $1 and upgrade in the pm, it seems. I’m looking forward to the core set, Dragonborn, the big Azgadrabaz dragon (or whatever his name is), and the daimyo expansion. This campaign is only a day old and already expensive.
Well I skipped the last 2 Kickstarters after having gotten the first 2. I might just get in on this one...maybe then I'll make a dent in the minis I have stored in a plastic bin.

Hey, if you need warmachines, you can also try finding these
Why does the Daimyo pledge have no human Samurai? So far as I know, there's still only one Bones Samurai, and he's a crappy older sculpt. There's a crapton of human Knights, Wizards, clerics, barbarians, but no more human samurai?

Not sure but the Diamyo bundle really just seams to be monsters and randomly dinosaurs. Not really that happy with it.
There is always some D!#@$@s every year asking for bases. Loudly and often. Reaper is more than happy to oblige them because their bases are super cheap. But you know, MDF bases are cheaper.
Looks like it might be too large, even for them. I don't know if the base size in game is going to change, but this bad boy would break it even if they went to 100 x 150mm.
I don't mind the bases. I've used them for all sorts of projects since I've always got a restock at some point or another just from the Reaper kickstarters.
It's the demanding a pirate ship I'm getting sick of hearing.

Meh. We use models we think look cool and just go with appropriate base size, but I understand we’re probably in the minority.

Yeah, it is a bit too big, but I will get one anyway!!!!
I just want the dread wolves and one of the scarecrows. If I put in a pledge of £1 now is that level of specific availability likely to come with the pledge manager based on previous Bones Kickstarters?
Any firm indication on what will be in the original bones material as opposed to Black in terms of the larger models? I'd ideally like to avoid getting any of the original, hydrophobic, sticky, garbage PVC of theirs, but I do Like the Mammoth, and would like to grab some of the wargamer-friendly pieces like the warmachines.
Still kind of underwhelmed by this Bones KS but I went ahead and pledged $1 just to get access to the add-ons. There's at least one or two of those I'd like.
The dragons are nice, but I've already got a bunch of unpainted Bones Dragons (including that huge not-Tiama figure) so I'm not interested in any more right now. I'd normally be up for Japanese or dinosaur miniatures, but combines they loose their appeal for me. At this point definitely pick up that Catobelpas(sp?). Not sure what else, though.
Well, you’d probably have to buy the scarecrows together, but the price would be about the same as buying one at retail. The past campaigns broke up the core pledge into groups based on their section title, so “Scarecrows” would be one option and “Dragon Wolf” would be another.
I was only briefly able to tune into Reaper Live yesterday, but it seemed like they were hinting at a Cthulhu themed add-on expansion coming up. That would make me pretty happy. The samurai dinosaurs look decent enough but don't really do it for me. Some more Lovecratfian minis (like the thing in the well they already have) would be more up my alley.
Wow... the first half dozen or more waves are already sold out despite the delivery being April 2021(!). Regardless, the prices are great and I can see why folks would want to pledge but it's not for me. I am intrigued to see what scifi stuff they may eventually add though.
Nothing wrong with waiting to see if they have what you want. I've been in Bones I-IV, and am also waiting. Reaper had an sf expansion set in previous KS, so keep watching. Myself, I'm looking for Gloomhaven proxies, particularly demons and uniques. 28 days to go!

Just note that the whole waves thing doesn't really work with Reaper, its more of a KS general policy setup.
Reaper does the whole fulfilment in one big go, staggering it by region and their plan is to try and do it so that people get their stuff around the same time. So that means they do Australia first and then whilst that stuff is on ship/plane they then get to other regions like the UK/EU and last USA (since their site is in the USA so that only has to go by domestic shipping). The waves help them sort things out at the back end, but otherwise once they start shipping a region it all comes out in one go. So generally you're talking a few weeks difference between waves which is simply the volume of orders being processed rather than any staggered wave release.
On the first day when the site was crashing and stalling due to the volume of use they actually said in their twitch that entering into later waves was a good way to get in without the site stalling (since no one was going for latter waves and everyone was going for the current lowest wave).
Also, Reaper may do some jiggering if a few specific add-ons are late. Frex, for Bones IV, the chicken hut was one of the late items, so they pulled these orders aside while fulfilling others. I forgot how this affected international shipments. Also, for the US, at least, they were doing one wave per day.
I think I'm out, this time... Melty, blobby faces on human-sized Bones in previous KS just aren't as good as the detail in CMON releases, and CMON gets me a game too. Plus, pretty much nothing here says "buy me now". Not for $120. Not compared to Nolzur's.
I’lol be selling or trading away my zombie giant, something to keep in mind if you can’t find a deal better than the cost of shipping me an envelope full of bits.
The core set will absolutely be available a la carte in the pledge manager, probably even before the campaign ends. They've always done that in the past.
There's actually been quite a bit of stuff previewed for this upcoming Greek expansion back at Reapercon.
Minotaurs, Cyclops, heroes and Giants (who could double as the Gods themselves) I can remember seeing photos of. Went ahead and posted them here for those not in the mood to search.
Taken from Reaper's forums where members posted a lot more photos of possible sneak peaks-
Oh wow! Some nice stuff there for the Greek myth expansion. Not sure that I need a GIANT Zeus, but still quite badass. This maybe my favorite bones KS yet! Fingers crossed that some new mini-taurs (as in the Bones 4 kind) make it in as well!
I would be sorely tempted by a handful of that Greek stuff, but...in reality I'd only want a handful of minis...so I'd probably end up waiting till retail regardless of the discount.
Don't forget we've got an underwater expansion coming at some point too.
Have their been any rumblings of what super gigantic models we may see this time? The last one had a ton. Earlier ones had the Tiamat model, the Dragons Don't Share diorama set, Khanjira or whatever the kaiju is called...
I keep thinking we'll see some more "Encounter" add ons like the troll and goats set. It's specifically labeled that. No other add on is.

The Harpy (504) is a resculpt of the Sea Hag from Bones 2 (in the "Under the Sea" bonus section of the core set). New wings and bird legs. Nicely done though.

Spoiler:
I think that might just be the best looking dragon in this KS! Darn I hope that one unlocks!
I kind of doubt they’d hold it back, considering it’s already sculpted AND printed.
I do find it a bit odd that there’s at least 3 items to unlock between the first parts of the Greek expansion. I seem to recall, in past KS, there only being 1, maybe 2 things to unlock, between the parts. But in Bones V, they seem to be loading stuff up between the expansion parts. Really excited to see what else will be in the Greek one, at least a minotaur, and some Greek heroes I think.
Also, they’ve been doing live-streams almost every day, and they keep mentioning that Thursday's Will be a BIG deal.

Ok... So now they're going to start the deep sea expansion, before finishing the greek one?
It *is* odd, or at least different, how they're unlocking things. Thursday is some sort of announcement, and there's a social media goal that day as well.
For the metalheads, here's their available Slithe miniatures. I guess this might give an idea how they'll look in plastic? : https://www.reapermini.com/search/SLITHE
Bones IV had some underwater nasties (ZOMBIE SHARK), so I may pass, but if you saw the preview pics...
Temptation to do a underwater miniatures game where ships are up in the air on sticks and you only see the bottom is... ...well... ...not entirely zero?

Needs rules for falling terrain and raining lead (sinking cannonballs), then I’ll play.

It's called DeepWars by AntiMatter Games - give it a shot, it's a lot of fun!
I'll be picking up this model to use as terrain there, for certain!
I'll second the call for people to check out Deep Wars. Not only is it entirely underwater, but its sister game ShadowSea deals with all the ground based above water combat. A lot of models have crossover use from both games and that boat can certainly be used in both (as their core rules are both based on Song of Blades & Heroes). Plenty of rules for boarding and breaching vessels...
There's new two player starter sets with everything you need and a dungeon crawling supplement will be getting released in the near future.
Deepwars/shadow seas is about to have another kickstarter with 3d printing files for a lot of what you need too. And they should have out a fairly cheap dungeon crawl game out soon you can use all the bones minis with.

I literally thought that company was “Dead in the water” when Miniaturemarket stopped carrying them and hadn’t seen any news about it. I’ll check out the link as making an ocean themed table is intriguing.
I wouldn't put a lot of weight behind what MM carries. It's not the first time they've stocked and dumped a smaller line.
Antimatter has been doing regular kickstarters and putting out a fair bit of material every time. Their submersibles were quite nice, big, chunky modeling projects.
That deep sea expansion is a great reason to finally finish off my Fortune Hunters submarine!
Makes me want to play a tabletop deep sea exploration game like the old Treasures of the Deep PS1 game.

Deepwars is what you want. This terrain, and the underwater figures that they have here work to put together a excellent table. The $ 10.00 spent down at your local Pet store in the fish section works wonders! That ship alone would be a great centerpiece deep wreck for crews to explore and fight around. Add in a couple of caves, and some plants and gravel, and you have yourself a hazardous lost location.
To join the chorus, yes, Deep Wars and Shadow Sea are fantastic. The miniatures are ridiculously flavorful and easy to build/paint. Looking forward to getting the minis from the last KS, but since I tend towards ordering everything they make it takes a while...
Lolth has some lesser fungus demon things called Yochlol, this is Reaper's representation of that thing.
The Auld Grump
Ah! Thanks.
But I think you mean that a Generic Spider Goddess has demonic fungus with No Specific Name. After all anything else would be a copyright violation
The internet goddess LOL-th?
I have been painting a lot of the Bones Black minis that came with Bones IV - and good gravy, does the material make a difference!
More rigid, easier to prime, faces and hands that look like faces and hands!
A massive improvement!
The one thing it gives up is the nigh indestructible nature of the old Bones - which means that my old flexible Bones will remain in use for my games for younger players.
A lot of the Core for Bones V will also be in Bones Black, which is a good thing.
The Auld Grump - I am really wishing I had gotten another Dreadmere set while the Pledge manager for Bones IV was still active.... I painted the last of them last night.
Automatically Appended Next Post: My wife has called dibs on both the dark elves and the rune wights.
The downside of having a wife that also games. (Who am I kidding - there is no downside! You have no idea how happy it makes me when I find that minis have wandered over from my side of the table to hers!)
JoeRugby wrote: How do reaper giants scale compared to the d&d wizkids ones?
Here's a picture of one of the Giant Jailers in a game with other generic 28mm style fantasy minis from Reaper/Mantic, etc. Can't speak to the others. This guys is on a (slightly small) 45-50mm base I cut up.
I LOVE that the second part of the Greek Expansion has not only the Cloud Giantess & Nemean Lion, but a LEUCROTTA as well! They are such crazy weird, and terrifying monsters, it's good to see more miniatures of them. The only other one I know of is an older D&D pre-paint figure, and it's not very elaborate. I love that Cerberus and the minotaur are next. I hope that means we'll get a HUGE Hades to accompany/oppose the Storm giant 'Zeus'. I'd love a nice (and HUGE) female Grecian titan to pose as Hera/Artemis/Athena.
It kinda sucks that the Greek II has only 7minis most of which are man-size. Hopefully III will make up for it. I'm really liking the Greek expansion, although I have absolutely no use for it. Not that that has stopped me in the past.
Remind me, I haven't actually bought anything since III, will the pledge manager allow for the cherry picking single models, or is it only the add one/core as they're presented? The last thing I bought was a big one and existed as an add on by itself, but this time I'm seeing a handful I'd like, but nothing to justify a big buy in.
I haven't followed the comments to know how V is going but with IV they allowed cherry picked of everything that wasn't in a theme set. So singles from the core pledge but if you want one thing from the Greek set you have to buy the whole set or wait for retail.
Ok, I'll have to paw through the PM once it's done and see how it shakes out. So far the Storm Giant is the only "I'm buying that and I'll figure out why later" item.
Well the new Bones addon looks to be Undead Pirates, which makes it a must-buy for me. Was going to go for Dungeon Dwellers, but this is far more useful.
I can only imagine how I will fare when the Pirate Ship is released...
Azreal13 wrote: Ok, I'll have to paw through the PM once it's done and see how it shakes out. So far the Storm Giant is the only "I'm buying that and I'll figure out why later" item.
I'm kind of in the same boat. While I like some of the individual figures a lot, they are all in sets I'm not that interested in as a whole. I'm probably just going to pledge for the individual add ons I want, and wait for the pledge manager to see if I can get the other figures I want, without too many figures i know I'll never paint.
This is the first Bones KS I'm not pledging $200-300 out of the gate. It's just not wowing me like previous KS did.
Yeah, same for me -- there probably is stuff I want here but I really don't need another core set of "maybe I will need this someday" minis. Got two of those from previous Boneses!
I don't even need the undead giant because I have one from Zombicide Green Horde...
I’ve never done a Bones KS, and there’s so much going on it’s overwhelming.
I shall read the rest of this thread to glean info, but a few questions..
UK postage, any rough ideas? I will get to the PM which I think might have more info on it, is it based on how much ends in the box? (So if all I did was Core, is it set, or fluctuating?)
Then there are various things. Core Set. Add-Ons. 3 Expansions (Samueai, Greekish, something else).
Now to me how it looks is it is only Add-ONS you can buy individually. Everything else is the packaged price, 120, then 50 for any given expansion.
Are they still adding to core even today?
But expansions 1 & 2 are complete, and they are working through the second and third parts of 3 to unlock it all.
Or will items still get added to all the 50 dollar sets as time goes on?
This sum it up correctly? Minus the few gaps I’ve fielded questions about?
Thanks for any regular Bones Ks’ers who can help.
At the moment you can only get the full main pledge, and each add on,
however during the pledge manager period after the KS in previous reaper projects you've been able to get smaller sets of minis
cant help on shipping other than to say the early ones came from the USA so got hit by customs charges, but they've now got a UK based prescence so that my be different nowe
Ok well thTs useful none the less, hopefully someone else can weigh in and add to the info.
So now they are on the Underwater expansion, the others are finished now?
Or will they add to Greek still perhaps?
I think from my reading, yes Core Set is still getting things..
(And the backer number and social media exclusives etc)
Core set might well still expand. The factions which are already 3 parts won't expand while those at less parts will so theres 2 expansions for the 2 sea expansions 1 for the greek expansion but none for the samurai and dungeon expansions.
Second part of the Dark Depths looks great! Glad to see the Fathom Tyrant pop up already. Hopefully that'll mean there's something REALLY scary/cool in part 3. I love that there are lots more sea creatures added. Especially those Brine Goblins! They look great!
I'm not much of a fantasy gamer or collector but that Gallowgard diorama and the Greek Odyssey expansion are potentially turning my 'want to paint' propellers.
I am hoping the Sons of Barty are a specific option in the pledge manager.. else I will try to get them retail.. They are drowned pirates yes, but they could ALSO be Grandfather Nurgle children..
Pirate ship is revealing on Monday.
Whether that is the point in the stretch goal queue it will be, or if it is becoming an auto add on. Currently unknown.
But we will get pictures and a price
It looks from the pic that the pirate ship will be multi-deck, so you can lift off each deck to get to the one underneath.
This is absolutely what I want from pirate ship terrain BUT only if it isn't bendy, if each deck can be removed easily without stress or damage to the kit, and if it will also lock together reasonably well as needed. I guess Reaper can do that with the grey Bones terrain material they used in #3, and presumably #4? But can they do it at that scale?
I mean you might *want* a bit of flex to avoid damage when you're disassembling it deck by deck, but if it's as flexible as the Dragons Don't Share terrain it will look like Salvador Dali's melting pirate ship.
I got the barge last time, it was in regular bones material but didn’t have any bend to it and came in multiple sections. I wouldn’t worry too much about the main body of the ship being bendy.
Man, I feel simultaneously crazy for wanting to buy that massive ship that I realistically just will probably never use, as well as being crazy for passing it up at a hundred dollar price point.
I think the wallet will ultimately win, and I'll manage to pass at that price... And then spend two years scouring eBay for it at a price less than $200, two years from now.
SlaveToDorkness wrote: This is when I'm glad my DM is crazier than me. No WAY he's passing on that ship! So I get to play on it without having to buy it!

The $1 Buy In ends tomorrow at 5PM CST, if they are not sold out before then.
The $1 Buy In allows folks to pledge a buck - but still get the Kickstarter prices on the Pledge Manager.
So, anyone that thinks that they might want that pirate ship, but doesn't have the $100 ready, now is your last chance to be able to get it for a buck now and $99 later.
Ditto for the add ons and expansions - my wife was kind of 'Meh' until one of their most recent reveals.
The model that caught her eye, and fired her enthusiasm, among all the giants, dragons, and undead?
The halfling doxie. (The tiny tart, the wee wench, the half-pint harlot, the teapot trollop... we had a bit of a competition going....)

In two years
Starts rolling up a pirate character .
You joke - but that is exactly what my wife is doing for the halfling doxie mini.
This is the first Bones KS I've tracked, and it's insane how much stuff is in it...
I mean, the value is real here. For $147 I can have all the D&D figures I'd EVER need PLUS a new Chaos War Mammoth for my WHFB Chaos army. That's nuts.
My problem now is that if I back this, I will want more than that, and it doesn't matter because it would be worth it...

Many a man said much the same about Bones 1, but can still be found lurking in the alleys of wave one "Just one more hit man, then I'll quit! I swear I swear! Just one more Iconic or a Were-meerkat"
Though I think I've only bought 2 core sets ever (I and II). With how long production is on these it can be hard to really know what you'll be into/can use in 18-20 months when they deliver but thankfully you can add stuff in the pledge manager generally up to the last 2-3 months of production.
godswildcard wrote: This is the first Bones KS I've tracked, and it's insane how much stuff is in it...

And a few go on to be dealers... If I sell off the weredinos, I can afford that cybernetic claw monster... *Hands start shaking*
I actually did that with Bones I and II - but when Bones III happened... I was married. We... argue who gets what minis. (It is a wonderful, wonderful feeling. )
Interestingly figure 808 is already in bones, I have one in my desk right now.
I wish they had lead with Chronoscape, rather than the lackluster Fantasy Japan/Greece/Sea (you choose which). Might have attracted more gamers to the party.
> Also, didn’t we already get a few of these sculpts in Bones?
Yep. The Steampunk Witch was miscast so didn't hit retail, iirc. I'm guessing these will be in Bones Black, so will have better detail.
Would have been nice to at least have a different version, unless they're just reusing previous molds. Or that these models had replaceable hands (ie. no weapon version).
Whatever. I'm interested in Steampunk / Western, and Modern / Horror. I guess part 3 will be sf. Hoping for no dino men!
Really bummed out that Brinewind expansion moved from being Undead Pirates to the regular kind as well. I guess it is kind of inevitable as Reaper stuff is made more for tabletop adventuring rather than army collecting. Looks like I will dump that expansion and go for something else.
So, other than the 3rd part of brinewind, and another dragon apparently, I ‘think’ there’s one more encounter set. We’ll see if they throw something wild in towards the end. Overall, my favorite bones KS by far.
I'd be pledging more as there are some great looking dragons in this, but Bonereapers have eaten up my budget; thankfully the Reaper Pledge Manager will be open for ages so I've got time to get the money in.
Even so they are well over $3million now so its not as if they are pained for money
He's a very prolific poster on their forums. Kinda their unofficial form mascot for a few years. Back when I hung out there I use to chat with him quite a bit.
That fan favorite set ended up being quite the interesting assortment.
My kid want those Axolotls. I'd like to see what that mammoth centaur thing ends up like. It's goofy enough that it just might work. Perhaps as a dragon ogre stand in?
The not- Demogorgon was a nice bonus. Seems I'm going to end up with an awful lot of expansions this time around...
Same. I pretty much want all of them but the Chronoscope and possibly Daimyo which is just too random for me with useful stuff and random D&D oddities (dino & orc samurai) that don't have enough things in either bones or other lines to be useful at any level. So it might just be a pick up things in a general release like I did with the Stone age one from last KSer.
There are a few things I might get via pledge piggybacking, or “pledgybacking”, but the campaign in general feels scattershot, trying to appeal to everyone at the expense of value for the more focused customers. Each expansion or subset of the core has one or two things I want, but not enough appealing minis in any of them to justify the purchase.
We got some really cool stuff towards the end. I'm worried if they'll be able to sort out an EU hub after Brexit but I left my $120 wave 4 pledge stand anyway. If a no-customs shipping solution is confirmed before the PM closes I'll probably triple the pledge.
As I understand it, Reaper gives their artists a fair amount of license, but, of course, this means they risk creating what *they* want, vs. something more marketable. I also think they appeal more to painters than gamers, compared to other companies.
At the same time, after Bones I-IV, I guess you're gonna run out of "staple" monsters and run into repeats or resort to edge-cases. I dropped to $1 when they offered the zombies in the core. (Have plenty thanks to CMON.) Gorgon yes. Catoblepa, no.
Most of the add-ons were thematic, although some were on the miss side.
I saw a good amount of new backers, and they're still getting a good deal with the core -- even if all they fight are kobolds (and two dragons).
Personally, I'm looking for Gloomhaven proxies, so that may have colored things. Although that didn't prevent me from picking up some halflings mounted on armored chickens!
Well, some neat stuff cropped up at the very end. Does anyone know if there are better pictures around anywhere? Some of those sets are so small and dark it is hard to see what you're getting.
Damn, was out and about and forgot to put in my $1 pledge. Anyone US open to letting me piggy back on their pledge? Interested in a lot of the terrain/dioramas. And a few odds and sods.

I wussed out and dropped from a $120 pledge to a $1 pledge quite early on and never upped it. If we get a no-customs shipping solution I'm sitting at $120 of expansions before temptation kicks in.
The core set is incredible value but I just don't think I'll have a use for most of it. The dungeon dwellers and Greek ones are no brainers though.
Yeah I think unfortunately Core, while had some great bits, isn’t worth it enough for me.
$30(+$6) gets me the bits I Want/Need, then the rest I’d be paying $90(+$18) for some nice bits but not necessary (though is any of it..).
Then it’s two expansions, and possibly that Brinewind extras bit..
I only went with a $1 pledge to get access to the pledge manager. No point in giving them money now when the goods won't get delivered for over 2 years. But before the pledge mananger closes next year I will be adding on a bunch of dragons, warmachines and probably a couple of the scenic expansions.
It's a real shame this stuff is still so hard to get hold of in the UK outside of the kickstarters.

I have a pledge -- if any UK people want part but not all of the core set, feel free to DM me. I do not, for example, need the undead giant (I have one from Zombicide: Green Horde already). I'm still not 100% sure I want the core at all, though, so ideally you'd want a bit more than just the giant.
I backed for the Core Set and I might add on some of the dragons. I haven't painted much in the way of larger-sized models; biggest one I've done, I think, is the 15mm Leviathan Crusader.
Easy E wrote: Wow, I really want that Storm Giant and the Greek stuff.....
I would agree on the Greek stuff, but I backed MBP so I'm rolling in Classical heroes, gods, and monsters.
I backed MBP but they weren't quite organised to manage to actually send me the game (I did get a refund eventually...). But, I also backed Gods War by Petersen Games, which has quite a lot of thunder gods and stuff... so I am not sure I need Greek stuff.
Yeah, I might not go above $1, myself. Shipping is under $15, though.
If this is your first Reaper KS, it's a very good (though, as M said, scattershot) assortment of miniatures. But, after Mythic: Battles, CMON, and Reaper Bones V either offered miniatures I already had, or miniatures I probably wouldn't game with.
Reaper's market seems to be leaning towards painters (or their own artists) who want unusual miniatures. Meanwhile, WizKids is Deep Cutting (see what I did there) Reaper with miniatures targeting RPG'ers, Reaper's original audience.
Might stay at $1 for Zombicide, and save the money for Black Friday.
Too many games, too many miniatures to paint. A good problem to have for us backers, at least while creators can absorb shipping costs.
Also Monolith has been talking about Conan 2020 Kickstarer (january) today which will have a VS mode. To do a skirmish game they're selling theme boxes that mix MBP and Conan figures and if you backed either one you'll get a discount code that's they're saying will be one of the cheapest you'll ever see for minis due to them mostly just being repackaged existing stuff.
But thankfully you don't have to fill out the bones V pledge manager for like another year. Plenty of time to decide.

Oh shoot. That would be amazing. Those are some great sculpts, and some of them are very hard to find.

Living Dead is definitely a part I want from Core.
That and the prices you’re wanting to sell at, or are you aiming for KS costs to make yours free?

I will PM you -- probably tomorrow evening. I am not planning to make a profit -- I just want to see if anyone wants in on the core set, as if it's just me, I may skip it and just get bits and pieces.

There was a pile of stuff from the core set I fancied - the Kobolds, Boulderkin, Krampus, if you're wanting to split some of them out.
Nothing against Reaper, I am in for hundreds of bucks for sure, but I would seriously advise anyone who thinks they will use that sort of huge model to get a 3D printer instead.
To 3D print , at the size they're showing this too be, this would easily be $45-$60 of filament ($15 a kg). If you need a ship that size I think getting the bones one would still be worth considering as you're also going to pay $15 for the file to print the ship and I don't know any that aren't tile based that would be any larger then about 1/3rd of that. Probably take a week or so to print and assemble too (though this isn't delivering for over a year so that's a plus I would guess)

And that is assuming that everything comes out as desired.
A friend has a Creality 3 - and maybe a quarter of his prints go awry.
Plus, depending on the 3D printer, detail could be a bit lacking. (See the above mentioned Creality - it is a filament based printer, and there are definite ridges.)
The UV/Resin printer that is tempting me has a 3" bed - putting together a model over 20" is going to be a bit of a jigsaw puzzle.
Overall, I am sticking with getting the model through the KS - save the 3D print for lower res terrain.
Though my wife and I are leaning toward at least two - the question is whether the second one is a pirate ship or a ghost ship.
QC can get really hard really fast with hobbyist grade 3d printers. Tiny little discrepancies can make joining together pieces cut up in Cura or whatever hard to join together.
A reminder for any who took part in this that the DEADLINE for the pledge manager is December 1st. So just over 1 month away! Kind of scary how fast it feels like that date has crept up!
Oh man, I cannot decide if I want to go in for that pirate ship or not...
If I go in for the pirate ship there are a couple other things I'll have to get...
I can't decide whether it will provide enough gaming value to justify the price, but I feel like it is one of those things I'll forever regret not getting, as it will be double the price or something at retail.
Just completed the PM and was not charged VAT, which is a good indication Reaper has no intention of shipping from within the EU in any case, Brexit or not.
Brexit just messed them up and chances are with Corona for the last year setting up a new EU hub is hard; esp because they likely need the UK to leave and the EU to settle before they can make a good hub choice; especially as we don't know what kind of trading relationship the UK and EU will have (right now we are still stuck with both sides having a stand off with each other)
All of the cannons are separate and they are considering doing a more fantasy version of them as an optional extra.
...
Did they ever decide on a more fantasy cannon version? I would love that, but haven't seen anything and the pledge manager looks like it's not there...
Confession time, I added to my pledge for Bones V over the weekend, it was the seventh time I had done this since the pledge manager opened. A little bit here a little bit there. I ran a total, and could not believe the numbers. I have paid $889.43 on Bones V, and have not as yet bought the pirate ship and might yet do so.. Now this does add in 20% VAT for the UK so I have about $700 of stuff.
Automatically Appended Next Post: And another thing, pledge manager closing date is now the 5th for those who want to late back or haven't sealed their pledge.
I finally confirmed my pledge. I had only backed for a $1 and got about half of what I initially thought I wanted during the campaign. Resin 3d printing getting so much cheaper and faster with the new printers this year and wide availability of files really make a decent amount things I no longer needed so I just picked trough what I couldn't print, didn't want to if files were available or just liked the sculpt artistically.

Dang dude. At least you are getting great value for your money. I think it would be fun for you to post the pile of stuff you get from a Bones Kickstarter compared to the 80 citadel miniatures you could get for the same price.
Could have sworn I did my pledge manager awhile ago, but got an email today saying I hadn't. Anyway, turns out I'm in just for the pirate ship and pirate terrain.

You are not alone. the amount of money Ive spent on Bones KS 1-5 is....significant
> All those miniatures look great but I really want to get my hands on the Greek themed ones, That storm giant is amazing
Did you already pledge? The themed sets disappeared from the webstore in about a week. AFAIK, They only put on the webstore whatever they don't sell to backers.
IIRC, The deadline to for a late pledge is 12/5 or something? See their last update (?) or info posted on the previous page.
If you don't make the deadline and buy each piece individually... don't.
Has Reaper ever made their earlier Bones sculpts available as 3d models for sale? Were they even done in 3d or is it typically a mix of physical and digital sculpting depending on the model? Do they still offer all five Bones kickstarters for sale or have they retired the earlier ones like they used to do in the 90's with their Dark Heaven metal line?
I’ve seen the minis from the first Kickstarter restocked at the FLGS before the Corona. However, Reaper seems to have FFG wait times between print runs, so some minis effectively disappear forever.
They have never released 3D files of their miniatures so far as I know.

A lot of bones 1 and 2 were traditional sculpts (most of bones 1 was if I remember correctly) and digital became the norm more recently.
I believe there are only 3-4 officially retired ones that I know were announced on the reaper forums from Bones 1 as they did not cast well and had lots of rejects. I haven't been to their forums in quite some time so there could be more but it wouldn't surprise me if they were really only focusing on getting fast selling figures remade as it does take quite a while to schedule the factory time, get things cast and shipped to the US (probably a 6 month lead). They also have to make a minimum order and warehouse what doesn't get picked up quickly by retail so it really doesn't make sense to keep everything in stock.
If you're fine with metal many bones do have metal releases (which they'll cast on demand) probably due to them being things that sell, but not sell well enough to keep in bones.

Glad to hear that at least they're restocking the initial Bones minis even if it's not the best result for my case. I understand if they're still selling them phsyically that they wouldn't undercut those sales with a 3d model offering. Suprisingly, I've actually not ever seen anyone offering up pirated 3d models but admittedly I don't actually look for them either as thingiverse and cults 3d satisfy that need legally.

If it's only 3-4 officially retired ones then that is impressive. I used to make sure to pick up the Reaper catalog at Gencon for a decade and it was interesting to see which models were added and which disappeared from year to year. Whether that was due to contractual/licensing reasons with the sculptor or due to slow sales it definitely happened at a faster pace. I could see them prioritizing certain faster selling sculpts from earlier releases for reprints though as you said. They do the casting now in house, right? I thought I remembered seeing her on dakka news of them moving it from China though it may have been that they do the initial casts there and then ship the moulds over and do the smaller subsequent casts in house as needed.
Bones are made in China and I'm sure they have a minimum order so once a given model is gone it is probably gone for a good long while until the next boat from China arrives.
Kid_Kyoto wrote: Bones are made in China and I'm sure they have a minimum order so once a given model is gone it is probably gone for a good long while until the next boat from China arrives.
I think this is what my hazy memory was referring to. It's a three year old post but apparently only about a dozen moulds made it over by that time (Bones III?) according to one of the employees (judging from the username) on the official forum.
We have about a dozen Bones model figure molds in Texas, and are going to be growing that list over time.
But that changeover will be, from a consumer perspective, slow. The general expectation is something similar to "well the KS is done so you should get ALL molds delivered, right?" and that's not what we're doing. We are moving molds quarterly based on a variety of factors, which include sales data for revolving 3, 6, and 12 month periods. So from our side, this is a continuous process, it can appear otherwise.
warboss wrote: They do the casting now in house, right? I thought I remembered seeing her on dakka news of them moving it from China though it may have been that they do the initial casts there and then ship the moulds over and do the smaller subsequent casts in house as needed.
No, they wanted to make some in the US so they bought a machine, that they call Thomas the Tank Engine, after Bones 1 or 2 but once they realized the cost of running it they use Thomas to make bases only. The factory in china owns the molds, to prevent you from going elsewhere, and to buy them or get an engineer in the US to make a new mold would raise the price of the bones to be almost the same as metal so it wasn't worth it. One of the reasons that most plastic production is done in china is what they charge to make the molds (100k) vs in the US (3-4x that).
This year's 2020 Reaper Christmas Sampler includes an amazing Paint Your Krampus mini-paint kit, featuring 4 bottles of Reaper MSP Paint and a classic Krampus model injected in our all-new Bones USA material! Oh, and we threw in some candy, of course.
Bones V is the only Reaper KS I've backed as I wanted 3 Arakoth the Ancients for my Forest Goblins absolute bargain at $10 each vs. a €46 Arachnarok Spider. Got a War Mammoth for a Warshrine conversion and a few wall of thorns for scatter terrain. Opted not to get the pirate ship in the end.
Speaking of bases they've mentioned doing another base KS soon.

...and now I’m wondering what I missed out on because obviously I should have spent more...
I wouldnt touch KDM, I think Bones is a much better deal.
Maybe you should spend more, I bought the above over time and other than the ship which I am still debating with myself over purchasing I have everything I wanted, but only recently got to that point.
I first heard of Bones during the Bones 3 campaign, I foolishly didn't buy the not-Tiamat and the Froghemoth, the Froghemoth didnt look like much on the KS page but is a hefty monster that I regret not adding to my collection, it would cost 5x the backers price now.
During Bones 4 I avoided my previous mistakes and got lots of stuff, I went the other way just as I did with Bones 5, but I was happy when it arrived. Yes, most is in my pile of shame, but The Madness does not end.
Ian Sturrock wrote: I was only really planning on getting the pirate ship and some bits of terrain, but have accidentally ended up with most of a core set too.

This was the first time I didn't get a core.
It wasn't like it was a bad deal, there's a lot of value there. I just have so much stuff, have gotten rid of so much stuff, and if I want to I can print an often lot of it nowadays...
Didn't stop me from hitting triple digits spending anyways. Mostly grabbed the expansion boxes.
I'll totally be cherrypicking models from the core pledge when the time comes though!

This is what I did with Bones 4. Worked quite well and saved me a bunch of money (even though some things I got quite long after bones shipped due to Reaper's release schedule). Did the same here.
A heads up from the latest update on the KS, Reaper are steadily removing things from the extended Pledge Manager opening time. This is basically them removing things as they cast them up to order.
From the KS update
Some of the items in the RPM are already turned off. If you did not pledge for these items, you will have to wait until these items hit your FLGS to get them. Items OFF so far are:
Option: Yokai
Option: Dragon Folk
Option: Rune Wights
Option: Demonic Temptation
Option: Yog Sothoth
Option: Henchmen
Option: Brinewind Extras
Option: Elemental Scions
Option: Encounter in the Dwarf King's Crypt
Power Up: Dragon Slayers
Power Up: Henchwomen
Power Up: Full Moon Fever
As December and January roll on, more and more items will be removed from the RPM, so get them now!
The next two items that we are turning off will be:
Option: Pirate Ship
Option: Ghost Pirate Ship (Glow in the Dark)
So in general if you want something specific better to pay sooner rather than later for it because it can and will vanish as an option at some point. Meaning you'll only be able to get it later at retail
Well that answers my question about whether I want the Demonic Temptation and Dwarf King's Crypt or not. Though I was only really considering the latter.
I finally bought the Pirate ship, about turn of the month and broke the $1000 barrier. The last maybe on my list is Brinewind Expansion, to go with the pirate ship.

rayphoton weeps at his Pile of Shame.
You have only one Pile of Shame?

It wasn't like it was a bad deal, there's a lot of value there. I just have so much stuff, have gotten rid of so much stuff, and if I want to I can print an often lot of it nowadays...
Didn't stop me from hitting triple digits spending anyways. Mostly grabbed the expansion boxes.
I'll totally be cherrypicking models from the core pledge when the time comes though!
Yes there ias a LOT of junk in a Bones set, but I tend to ignore that and total up the miniatures I like. Still enough to buy a Core IMHO, and I do buy more Core Set extras of specific items, I find those reasonably priced and easy to overlook. In Bones 4 I bought only a n extra set of crabs and crocs, this time I have a lot of Core Set extras, kobolds, spell walls, armour scenery and some monsters.
Anyone else buying multiples of anything? I am fairly invested in the artillery.
IMPORTANT DATES for the next models coming off the pledge manager and also coming up soon to come off
Monday, December 21 is the last day to add the Pirate Ship and the Ghost Pirate Ship (Glow in the Dark) to your pledge. If you were thinking about adding these items to your pledge this is the last opportunity to get these items.
The following items are very limited and we will only be available on the Reaper Pledge Manager as long as supplies last: Option: Townsfolk, Option: Brinwewind Expansion, Option: Chronoscope Expansion, Option: Song of the Sirens, Power Up: Beastmen, and Power Up: Demonic Legion.
Friday, December 25 is the last day to add Extras to your pledge. Extras are items that are in the Core Set that you're able to order multiples of. Please make any last-minute selections for Extras as soon as possible.
The picture of a painted Valfuryx the Vile pulled me back to the pledge manager, where I dropped another $120 on top of the prior $75. I'm gonna have a big ol' box of dungeon fantasy showing up in April, now.
That said my own dragon weakness is showing - Kalanzar the Wicked is one of the best "standing on hind legs" designs I've seen in a long while - many of them have that old T-rex style of a bolt upright pose that looks unnatural; but Kalanzar the Wicked has just the right pitch forward and angle of tail/body to make it work
The expansions are always a bit tricky for me. They're always tremendous value, but there's never $50 worth of miniatures I am absolutely sure I want. Still, I regret not getting the stone age one quite a bit. I'm pretty tempted by
the Pirates, Underwater (my wife likes that kind of stuff) and even the Greek one.
Automatically Appended Next Post: Probably should get them and sell off the stuff I'm not fond of.

I regretted not buying into the expansions I half wanted. I miss the expansions I do not like the theme of or reject to prevent my collection from getting too put of hand, but I tend to find that the miniatures I overlooked tend to grow on me, and I have regrets if I did not buy.
After experiences from Bones 3 and 4 I have a good idea of what I want, think I will want later or do not want, and prioritise accordingly.
Even so I will not buy everything I want from Bones or my costs will get out of control.
I bought the five chromatic dragons and like them more than most earlier Reaper sculpts. I did not buy the shadow dragon, but on reading up on them and seeing the sculpt I will add that also. However I have plain run out of money and will have to hope it is still available early in the new year. If not so be it.
Valfuryx was just the "come back in and look around" hook...right after my Xmas bonus had come in. I already had the Dungeon Dwellers, Ghost King, Cat People, and Catapult ordered from the pledge manager opening. This trip convinced me that in addition to Valfuryx; Extra PCs, Fan Favorites, and Demonic Legion had enough stuff I wanted in it. Plus, the renders on Shadows of Ravenholme landed that in the cart. Oh, and a Loot Golem for $3? Why not?
Hey, I was just asking about that a little while ago. Glad to hear it! I wonder how much of the current line they're planning on producing locally.
@Monkey: Well, now my post looks odd as you've deleted the part I was referencing. Basically for those wondering, Reaper announced US production of some new and improved Bones minis.
So it looks like the April delivery has slipped behind.
Containers on way to places, or in the US arrived.
(I guess they mean won’t be finished by April then? As surely in the next 40 days they’d have started to ship).
EU orders to come, and have vat/import tax or whatever to be paid by each backer (as I assume known before by them?)
US and UK is all sorted, and will start shipping asap.
