Nice progress on your forces. I also like that hobby bingo thing, I may try that this year.

Thanks Nevelon, like I said, I'm aware the finals are probably part of the issue--I've got a photo table, but getting and keeping it clean enough to use have been issues. Some of it I think has also been this past year has been very heavy on (admittedly self imposed) deadlines--January was pushing to get some ladies together for Mordheim, February to April was trying to get enough titans together for a 2000 point event of Titanicus, and mid year was pushing for a self imposed deadline of having my old epic army done before Legions dropped. Buddy had the idea in fall of maybe doing Kill team so I was pushing to get that done. The challenge was "things I needed done" but often was on more of a back burner, so I was often submitting whatever model I had to hand that vaguely fit and caught enough fancy to push it to painted.
Also thanks Syro_, haven't really been following it as much as I should, kinda feeling like I probably won't do it this year, but its nice for a little internal reward for trying some things. Its the 2020 version of the Rob Hawkins hobby blog one, though GW has put out a few similar ones:

And some actual hobby update, since I'm on and talking anyways:
Was trying to push some infantry to be done for a 1K+1 questoris intro game of legions against the usual opponent, but due to a COVID shot knocking me on my butt as usual, only got about this far:
Still needs blue metallic, mounting to bases, and washes (and maybe some freehand on those banners.) Did start the bases:
then came back after the game, and cut them out with scissors:
next step, breaking off 1/4" tile plasticard to make some nice sidewalks, plaza areas, and suchlike to match the emperor's children dreadnoughts, and also my titanicus legion's basing. That'll be later though.
In between, the game:
My force, with borrowed infantry, counts-as-arvus and questoris:
the feild of honor, cut down conquest scenario reduced to 3' wide for lower points:
Deployment against the nefarious Imperial Fists:
Both fairly spread, I'm hoping to run the knight up the side into close combat supported by a lot of demolisher and ignores cover fire, while the assualt group of ogryn get supported by the vanquisher russ group and move up. Hopefully I find a spot to throw the velatarii in in the arvus to grab his objectives, and marauders provide autocannon to mangle his T-hawk and then bombing run things.
End of turn 1:
Hunh, marching infantry are uh...really fast. Also, even on 6s sicarians have lots of shots and rerolls enough to eat arvus, taking the velatarii with them. Autocannons are not enough to eat T-hawk, though they did damage it. Bombing run did 4 hits, he saved them all.
And then I forgot to take more pictures. Oops. Basic course of the rest of the game--Bombing runs unsaved will eat infantry--when he didn't save it turn 2, the collapse killed the entire infantry detachment. Imperial fists on first fire with missiles are nasty amounts of firepower, rapidly depleting my infantry. Enough assualt marines out of a T-hawk are cheaper than, but will completely eat, questoris knights, even with high rolls, though this particular fight came down to literally the last roll. My russes didn't like his sicarians, killing all but one turn 2, but that one then killed both marauders in consecutive turns and lived out all following firepower. Hellhammers gave him a good scare with demolisher, but didn't make it through, and collapsed to T-hawk and missile fire as he swept that flank and grabbed my objective, while his termies grabbed the other. Malcadors lost one hull, failed a morale save, and immediately ran 18" off the board. End of turn 3, he had all four objectives, I had 4 stands of basic lasgun infantry, and we called it. Somewhat disappointing, but more because it means I'd need to paint much more infantry rather than tanks, and they're the worst dollar to point value, honestly just kinda not greatly served by their plastic sculpts with the undercuts, and also my least favorite part of the game so far. It was a fun enough game to actually play.
Also done today: Bringing the fur test kitty to just needing basing, and picking up and starting painting the new Reaper knight Sir michel the gold:

hope to get Sir mike done today or tomorrow, but we'll see how we do.

Vizier is well done - very striking! Definitely looks like ski gear from the 90s but in a good way!
The blue robes on the knight look great too.
Very impressed with the little fellas for legion too. They look great as a bunch.
Thanks for sharing!

Thanks tzurk.
Weekend update:
Made some progress on the skrimish gang:
Also apparently gorkamorka is on the menu again, so back on the boar bikerz. Apparently theres also darkneldar gang rules, so decision to make, but still working these for now:
A little catfolk progress:
And got the basing down for the 8mm stuff. Needs milliput and paint:
And as usual, got distracted by a quick playaround, this time a unicorn. Did a four paint thing, plus two for the base:

Trying for warm fur, cold manes, not quite what I wanted, too many stray marks, but Ok with it.

You continue to amaze with both the breadth of your projects and the sheer number of models you finish. I really like the Reaper knight in the blue and gold.
93473
Post by: Vejut
Thanks JoshinJapan! Admittedly, most of the breadth is shiny syndrome, and the speed is "number go up good" which I feel is hurting quality, but still feels nice. Those knights are so fun to paint up, just right at the sweet spot of detail.
At home, got the base scultping well underway, about half of them got curbs:
And at paint night, just some minor details and.basing to go for the badzoners:

Hopefully soon for both...
93473
Post by: Vejut
As usual, overestimated how much I'd get done this weekend. Did a lot of basing though. Legions stuff got a base prime layer and base colors:

And sculpted some milliput for the ladies. Looking like goliath will fit best:
But a few don't really match, as I didn't really build them for that, so a few more kitbashes needed doing:
Also trying to start a few better fitting models for the challenge:
And got another titanicus game in. Buddy built some spare warhounds into audax, so my lucidium went out to give them a first battle:
Setup:
Deployment:
Trying to have the warbringer and left reaver for long range support, then charge in with the right two, he's trying to shove two audax plated superhounds into me, and outflank in some cerastus. Using open engine war, misty artic world, so running cooler but bad visibility.
First turn:
Moving up to get good ranges, most of my shooting whiffs, and I fail a lot of void saves.
2nd turn:
Tried to mousetrap out his hounds, and force his knights to spend time moving up so I can get turn around space.
Unfortunately, everything on the right flank got exploded in a long chain reaction. Insult to injury, the warbringer only took damage from one enemy shot--everything else was bad fall rolls.
Turn 3:
Last stand time, trying to nail the dire wolf for the internal morale points. Sadly, I got one shot off, doing minor damage, then got neutron lasered, shut down, survived the combat phase by luck, and failed the wakeup roll, and exploded anticlimacticly. Still a fun game, but a bit disappointing result. May have to try spreading more, and getting neutron lasered less. Shutdown orders are punishing.

Got the solar aux infantry done this morning:

And at paint night, got an elf ranger done for the challenge:

And put some base colors down on the goliaths to be:
Hopefully get them done this week...

Post by: Nevelon
Amazing work on that ranger.
Good progress all around

Post by: Vejut
Thanks Nevelon, I'm actually pretty happy how he turned out.
Got another spray of things to show. Set up a game with another friend of TItanicus, though he's borrowing some titans from the usual opponent.
Map setup:
Doing matched play, I pulled destroy secondary, defend points primary, he got the honor banner and priority target
Deployment:
He's playing ignatum, very heavy corruptions in a firmis, I'm using my usual two maniple setup.
Screwed up my deployment on the knights, as you can see, open for a first fire that he took but luckily didn't kill them. I got agressive on one side and tried to lock out his warlord on the other.
Moving up turn 1:
Got a nice crossfire, but the entire game my vulcans won't roll more than 4 hits, and he does decently on the volkite saves.
He nails the hound, I drop in a new one behind, his reaver goes up, I retaliate first with a charge as well, but it takes until combat phase to kill it with a warbringer, reaver, and knights, and it takes the bringer and knights with it. Kind of a bad spot now.
We play it out, I cat and mouse the dropped hound around his back field, but the reavers I managed heat poorly and both explode, though the bringer is silenced by my hound:
One more turn went on, and my hound killed his, and then hides behind a building, where we called it and talked out the last turn, as I likely coildn't scratch his warlord, but he probably couldn't grab the banner or arc on my hound. Unfortunately we both misread our goals, I needed engines on the objectives, not just keep him off, and he didn't designate things for priority target right, but best as we can figure, I scored 10 points for killing 70% of his force, 0 on objectives, and he got 0 primary (the warbringer had his banner), 12 secondary (both sides of priority assignment--killing something with his reaver, and surviving with the lord), plus 6 off tertiary kills, for a pretty solid victory for him.
Did also get some motivation to progress on the dire wolf from a bit back, pistons didn't fit well after posing, so I made ones that did, actually most of the way done, and base already ready:

Also primed up the legions stuff, so hopefully soon on that.

And the counts as goliath ladies are coming along:

Experimenting with sculpting bases first for less mess when finishing, still have to do eyes and skin though on the new set. Old set actually got a layer of sepia after this, think they may be done, but will judge when I get home.
93473
Post by: Vejut
Made some titanicus progress:
Eyes and glass painted:

And set up on a temp base for washes, highlights, and final assembly:

Checked the skirmishers as well, decided I didn't like the finish, so did a quick orange glaze and sepia wash, which works for me. Finished set:

Front rank is models going in to the gang, back rank is spares that may come in later or for another game. Now just to get the other 5 done...
93473
Post by: Vejut
Bit more assembly on the titan, ready for highlights:
and paint night progress, base pink on the pggies and hellhammers, and almost there on the goliaths:

Liking the skin results so far, hopefully comes out in the end.
93473
Post by: Vejut
Slow through the weekend, but a little to report:
Necromunda gang and spares ready to go:

And some spare warhound guns assembled, magnetized, and base coated. Need to keep on these eventually, but demo-usable now:
Also did an other color on the dore wolf trim, but not much to see and forgot pictures. Nibbling it down, probably gorkamorka muties conversions next...
93473
Post by: Vejut
Another paint night, another new project. Joshinjapan started some usagi yojimbo miniatures from dark age minis over on his thread, which inspired me to try pulling my copies out:
Decided I'd do usagi himself, and kenichi, trying not to overload myself up front at least.
And some work with them, and a random secondhand tzaangor:
Usagi got most of the work, swords are untouched, shirt, pants, and fur are mostly there, though I think they need some more color depth. Kenichi is just base colors, working from some of the color covers, think he may be a bit yellow. Hopefully get some more progress this week.
55682
Post by: JoshInJapan
Nifty! You have three models there that I don't: Chizu, Tomoe, and the Mogura Ninja! I look forward to seeing what you do with them.
93473
Post by: Vejut
Thanks JoshinJapan, not sure on them, probably save them for later, honestly.
Got the Dire Wolf done, pretty annoying assembly, especially when you drop it, but done:

Also did up the vulcan carapace weapon swap for my reavers I picked up at the swap meet:
And had a quick 1500 point game against the usual opponent, variation of last week's tempestus v audax.
Set up on fortified area, cross the board (me) vs vital cargo primary, both having kill em all for secondary. I misdeployed my warbringer, and forgot I'd set it up short ranged, and also forgot to take deployment shots, so midway through turn 1, he's out of position and doesn't do much:

End of 1 move, my middle reaver is shields down, and hurting, but so is his tank-warhound in front:
turn 2, I move up, fail the legsweep with the charge, and first fire blows up my titan, and then the fall drops my other reaver from untouched to explided. Tank hound I think dies of reaver fire, leaving this:
All downhill from there. Dire wolf and another reaver get crunched, but good use of blind barrage gets vital cargo off, last reaver gets concentrated fire and explodes, and then its a one turn last stand, and the warbringer just dies with a wimper and a silenced result.
Back at home, some progress on hellhammers and oggies for LI:

And put together a silly joke from a passing discord comment for the upcoming necromunda campaign, Johnny Dayruiner, with his heavy combi-multimelta:
Reaper halfling with shieldwolf guns, and a barrel from an LI kratos. Hopefully get him painted in time to be an easter egg.
93473
Post by: Vejut
More tuesday paint night stuff.
Finished the hellhammers, and just need base painting for the ogryn:
Probably actually go back and do some markings on the hull for squadrons, but good enough for now.
And also got Usagi done, though no real progress on katsuichi:

Iffy on the blade NMM, do like how the base paining came out.
Also did a little base scultping and another color on the tzaangor, still a ways to go there.

Little at a time, still averaging a model a day so far this year.
93473
Post by: Vejut
Quick update, ogryn done, and some shoe fronts and detail work on Johnny Dayruiner:
Hoping the hands come out when it dries.
93473
Post by: Vejut
So, quick army shot with the finished ogryn:
And got another game in for titanicus, playing a ferrox and getting my Dire Wolf its first game in, vs the usual opponent with an Audax canis maniple trying ursus claws.
The battlefield:
Tried to not give too many spots for him to hide, but leave some so I could roll the melee boy in. The forces:

Set up trying to spread a bit without giving too many isolation points, while he tried to push right up in to start firing ze ursus clawz! Blue chips are canis maniple deployment tokens, and the usual warpstone marker as my retrieval target:

And turned out I hadn't left him much space to deploy, so after deployment (and one turn 1 move of a reaver)
Sadly, I kinda banged his shields for little effect, while good mine use took down my double-vulcan hound:
Turn 2, I push forward, whiff completely on the charge (poorly chosen, should have done long as I was warp displacing and rolled high, could have reached the dire wolf), he moves and I get hammered, right reaver has its legs almost gone. Drop the plasma hound in, mostly wiffs.
Turn 3 keep charging (but not even making contact), others move in support. Warhound gets vaporized from 1 shield down by a single opposing hound's fire. Both reavers are on the ropes.
Forgot further photos, but one reaver blew up, then the dire wolf. I managed to nail a couple hounds back, but am left with 1 reaver, who last stands, and fails to kill his opponent, even on explosion. End result, 5 points on secondary, none primary, opponent got 30.
Also during the weekend, started a conversion for the upcoming gorkamorka campaign, running some muties. Decided to do some centaur conversions. Using reaper wolves and hellhounds and some frostgrave and sisters of tarellium models. Initial cut ups:

Some fills and letting dry to have a good fur base:
And some fur, and expanding the force:

A little closer:

And ready for the next steps:
Not sure how I feel about the big guys, not feeling their gnoll uppers match the size of the lower well, or that the transition sculpt really works, noy sire what to do about it. Anybody got suggestions?
Also, got some progress on Johnny Dayruiner's paint.
Hand sculpt did end up a bit big, should work well enough. Not sure on his pants yet, but think everything else is base colored. Moving along pretty good.
93473
Post by: Vejut
So, paint night report, mostly finishing up stuff. Johnny Dayruiner ready for action:

And katsuichi also done, I think:

Not happy with the tunic, but not sure where to go to improve it, except maybe some more glazes up of light blue, but felt it stood out too much when I did. Do like how the hair came out though.
93473
Post by: Vejut
Couple finished 6mm tanks to show:

Prints I got from sebs printshop a while back. Just opened them recently, and more print slip than I cared to fix on these two, hopefully the other six are better. The one is popping a wheelie specifically to hide a really bad left rear corner.
And some more progress on the mutie centaurs:

Not sure if arms or clothing and details are next. Probably arms.
93473
Post by: Vejut
Not as much done as I'd like this weekend, but still did some progress. Got the arms on the muties, just need to figure out any clothes, stowage, and straps I want to do:
And started a random reaper bones dwarf as a quick break:
Finally dropped off the mini a day average, but I probably should worry less about numbers (even though numbers go up is kinda motivating.)
Gotta figure out the next big project, several different titans calling my name..
93473
Post by: Vejut
Some tuesday paint night progress:

Started some epic:armageddon space marine tanks, put some more paint on the tzaangor, and finished up the dwarf.
Some closer shots at the finished dwarf:

Tempted to do some freehand on the shield, maybe glaze the blends a bit tighter, but feeling good enough for now.
Still feeling a bit locked up on the wolf centaurs, gotta figure out stowage, but that'll come.
93473
Post by: Vejut
Kind of a slow week and a bit late, but a little to report.
One more layer of paint on the predators, need to wash down with bronze green I think, and then details:
And got the stowage on the wolf centaurs down, maybe another couple small straps, and furring the butt cape on the leader, and I think then its on to paint:

Hopefully get a bit more done tomorrow at paint night.
93473
Post by: Vejut
Paint night again, some more progress.
Assembled and primed up an ORC trooper from infinity for the challenge this month, considering also doing a croc man and kamau--water based warriors in space probably counts!
Also put a layer on the tanks too I guess. Also got some basic colors down, think I'll fill out the rest in standard pan-O blue.
Also finished up the tzaangor, and popped some brown-orange on the snakeman.
And some focus on just the beastman:

Nice to have gotten something down, hopefully make a little more progress this week.
106010
Post by: Meer_Cat
What great colors for the Beastman! You are highly productive, with so many diverse interests- a great pleasure dropping to see everything that has been added!
93473
Post by: Vejut
Thanks Meer_Cat, its more a short attention span and too many interesting games, but keeps things from getting boring.
93473
Post by: Vejut
Slow week, keep losing motivation when I do sit down for painting. Still, a little progress.
Little bit more secondary black on the 6mm predators:
Blue and a bit of highlight on the ORC trooper for the challenge:

Also had the necromunda campaign kick off, didn't take the best pics, but here's some from the two games we did. Fairly quick games, we got 2 in each over maybe 4 hours.
Mutant goliaths vs goliaths with a pet mutant in a gang fight:
Van saars try a hit and run vs goliaths.
Dice no-sell the van saar attempt to be clever by putting my reinforcements between them and a tunnel blitz. "Nothing personal kid:"
Pretty fun, we'll see where this goes.
93473
Post by: Vejut
And some tuesday paint night stuff:
ORC trooper just needs basing and the ineveitable paint scratch repair (and possibly some more blending once I get it under better light):

Not sure what basing will be on them.
And likewise, just need to paint up the bases I've already got for the predators:

Hopefully make some more progress this week, but at least should get something done by the weekend.
93473
Post by: Vejut
Best I can do so far this week is some finished bases for the 6mm tanks, but at least its something. Will glue then down when I get home tomorrow...
93473
Post by: Vejut
Slightly later than tomorrow but:
Some finished tanks:

Also saw a goofy reaper minis model, got it home and painted it up the same day, helped by much of it being clear:
(Rude gesture spoiler)
And got the beach base done for the ORC trooper. Needs better photos, but not today:

Also did a little more necromunda. First match lasted 1 round--Ambush with me as the ambushee, quickly had too many models down and broken, voluntarily bottled. Melta starting in 12" of you is mean. Second one was against cawdor, fairly bloody, but opponent a bit slow to pu their numbers advantage to work, let my reinforcements arrive, they chose to bottle after 3-4 went down. I lost two perma-dead between the two, another captured and eating the proceeds to get them back and re-equipped. Not sure how well the gang will recover given income available, but we'll see how it goes.

Was fun, but ambush is just mean.
93473
Post by: Vejut
Forgot pictures from paint night, then forgot to post the when I got home pics. Oops. Did remember some tonight though:
Just wanted to paint green salamander:
And some juves to catch up from the carnage sunday:
Couple stubgun/knifes that could count as swords for the cheap end, couple sword/knife and autoguns if I have a bit more creds.
93473
Post by: Vejut
More paint progress, getting ahead of things for once.
Buddy is also getting into necromunda and started buying terrain, so I made and painted up some bridge bits. 1.5mm plasticard sheet, ho scale treadplate glued on top, and some L bracket, and a nice rusty paint job:

Need some narrower ones too I think, and maybe some braces and variation? Something to think on.
Also got the juve brigade based and ready to go, next game wednesday:

We'll see how they go...
Also did some "not this" drybrush heavy stuff:
3d printed predator, and 4 old metal vindicators:
And a reaper killer ape, in my usual loud colors:

Either gonna be a lot finished all at once, or a heck of a logjam.
55682
Post by: JoshInJapan
Grape ape! I love it!
93473
Post by: Vejut
Thanks JoshinJapan! Actually finished him up today:

Also today, started assembling the escher gang for n17 against the usual opponent:
A few more bodies to go, but all needing some conversion, so will be a minute.

Post by: Boss Salvage
Nice work on the Kape, buns and all
Great rusty bridge too, along with your usual mass progress.
93473
Post by: Vejut
Thanks Boss Salvage! The buns are kinda goofy aren't they?
Paint night stuff: little progress on the piggy:
Almost done the salamanders tanks:

Hazard stripes didn't want to photograph, but I like how they came out. Still needs a rust wash, maybe some freehand, and basing.
And found more faults in assembly needing repair on two of my escher builds, but the others got a start painting:
Hoping to get them done fairly quick so the usual opponent and I can do some necromunda.

Thanks! Local FLGS for the sheet I'm afraid. It was labeled JTT scenics, which turns up some midel train supply shops, so may be orderable where you are! Automatically Appended Next Post: Also, and probably auto appended, some progress on Cnebba I started back in 2022, revived for the dakka challenge:
Base color
Drybrush
More drybrush.
Not bringing him to paint night, a bit bulky and fragile, but hopefully get some progress on the tiny tanks ans such instead.
93473
Post by: Vejut
Mostly the and such at paint night.
Overview of everything and pic of escher progress:
Lots of projects with some progress, nothing quite to finished, but did mostly decide on the colors for the escher.
Mostly finished piggy, just needs basing decided and completed:
Started another pair of the reaper color knights:
And between the walking bear in that one, and these guys, made some solid progress on the dwarf bear cavalry:
Still adjusting to the new schedule, hoping to keep making progress.

Those Salamander tanks with the flames are excellent
93473
Post by: Vejut
Thanks Nevelon, hoping to actually get some done soon! And thanks llamahead, they're actually pretty fun and easy to just build up hatchmarks for, pretty much a go to when I jist want to show something finished.
Lots of incremental stuff this week.
Little bit more color on the werewolf:
And likewise the bears, mostly jaws and details:
Color knights mostly smoothed out some color on the red one:
And tried to 48hr a hyperborian heroine from reaper:
Likely not going to make it, have until 6 today I think, but have work, and currently at here:

Even though she's not quite finished the Barbarian Lady looks great for a 2 day speed job.
306
Post by: Boss Salvage
Great barbarian sculpt, paint is especially nice knowing how fast you cranked her out. My one piece of feedback is that the grey base swallows her boots a bit but on the flipside it's a very classic dungeon crawl stone so whatchagunnado?
93473
Post by: Vejut
Thanks Boss Salvage! Yeah, I was thinking of doing a nice yellow dry-lake style base, but most of my other minis of that style are on cobbles--aimed lighter, but too much wash. Thinking I could have textured the boots more leather, and possibly a bit of a green-brown wash, but maybe next time.
Forgot pictures at paint night, started more 6mm stuff, and did a little on the knights, taken last night after unpacking:
Don't quite need more tac equivalents, but do like drybrushing green, so..
93473
Post by: Vejut
Quick weekend update, figured the buddy and I aren't gonna do Legions for a bit, so the tiny tanks I was keeping mum on to surprise him with are in the open, and actually done as of last update:

May go back for unit markings and some minor details, probably won't.
And some progress on cnebba, as I've got a busy period coming up, so losing some weekend paint time:

Made a 50x100mm base from plasticard, he's perhaps a bit big for it, but makes him usable for kings of war or the like, I hope. Vallejo basing paste for ground, and some terracotta milliput as adhesive and gap filler. Applied but didn't photograph another layer of paste to blend it, and tomorrow hopefully we get some dark green-brown paint on it, some more drybrush and wash, then going to try to find my snow paste, do a nice patchy winter style to fit with my shieldmaidens. Sadly, means cavalry is going to defeat me again...
93473
Post by: Vejut
Tuesday paint night again. Mostly ended up workingon the salamanders for epic again, mostly just need basing.

Freehand isn't what it could be, especially on the company symbol pad. I blame being up too long, but its good enough for now.
Also finished out the first layer of gold on the questoris knights from forever ago:
Need to go back and clean up the pink and metal, but not today.
And threw some various colors at the 28mm projects on the desk:
Probably won't finish in time for the challenge, but with the werewolf done, thats pretty backburner.
93473
Post by: Vejut
Back from vacation, back to the hobby table. Mostly just some base sculpting and prime for the salamanders:
Hoping to finish before the month is out, but probably be some early things next month.
93473
Post by: Vejut
Paint night again.
Main thing was cleaning up the questoris for titanicus:
Need to do some metallics on them still.
Also got the bears assembled, still needs skin and details:
As expected missed this month, but should be pretty quick in May.
And trying to get the gnolls done for their next (and possibly last--gang's getting pretty beat up) outing, base colors done, needs details and highlights:
On to May we go, hopefully have more to show than this month.
93473
Post by: Vejut
As predicted, took until May, but did get the salamanders done:

Also got some gnolls done, trying (and managing) to have them ready for a special narrative scenario fpr the necromunda campaign:

Also have some pictures of the initial setup for the scenario, an iniital auction phase, that then turned into an escape the cops maze. Ended up not going out of action, and getting some kills, so more or less worked out, and wa sengaged enough to forget pictures.
Auction hall
Escape line, trying to reach the small square areas on the sides.
Next up is probably the steam tank for the challenge, and trying to get the questoris done...

Lots of bright colours in this thread
Loving the Salamanders, they're shaping up to a proper force.
93473
Post by: Vejut
Thanks Sherrypie! The old Goblin Green era was pretty formative on my painting, I just like the bright colors.
Took an army shot, sadly the light wasn't great. Salamanders are getting big, not sure they're quite proper force for E:A yet, or at least not a meta one--3 tactical formations, 2 each devs and assaults, and lots of autocannon preds and vindicators, but no air cover or terminators quite yet. I need to get on that, but it is just missing a captain to make a full 2nd company.
On paint night, ended up focusing on the steam tank, actually about 90% done I think:

Metallics need highlight and shade, crossland arms need some cleanup, probably some glazing on the main armor, and doing the scroll, but pretty happy so far. Hopefully can get it done soon.

Bears officially miss early may, but maybe mid or late may will happen. A little progress on the fighters:
Color prime
Reproducable paint coat color to start them off. Should have just started white...
93473
Post by: Vejut
And paint night, mostly got the terminators greened and the details started, and the transports from last time progressed a bit:
Had the necromunda and bots out, but didn't really touch them. Too many tops in the air, hopefully brain will snap to them eventually.
93473
Post by: Vejut
Paint night again, bots got some very minor cleanup, which I forgot to photograph. Started another couple of 6mm rhinos:
But most of the day was running through two Reaper mouslings.

Trying to do some glow effect on the undead, and then the other one was packaged with them so I did them up to match, and also played a little with OSL. Not super happy with how the glow came out on the undead, but kinda like the other.
We'll see if anything else gets done before the end of the month. Need to figure out what I'm doing for Glow Up and the extended centerpeice project challenge. May break the No- GW-in-the-challenge personal rule and try the Warmaster for centerpiece, not sure what I'm doing for glow up.
93473
Post by: Vejut
A little progress on the robots, trying to break them down into smaller sets so they don't feel as large to start on:

Will have to buy or build more bases, but we'll get to that.

Those tiny LI planes are looking great!
93473
Post by: Vejut
Thanks blockade! Glad they came out.
Got the knights done:

And started a fire elemental as my likely entry for glow up, being a bit literal. Glow up was the one where I didn't really have much that inspired me for it:
And a choppy piggy warrior lady, designed by Gaz miniatures and printed for me by McGavin Miniatures off etsy.
Front's pretty good, rear I could have prepped a bit better (or at all) with sanding. A little pin-up style, admittedly.
92460
Post by: aku-chan
Nice job one the bear cavalry!
93473
Post by: Vejut
Thanks aku-chan! Glad to finally get them off the bench.
Started some base colors on the piggy and fire elemental--tempted to go back and sand some support marks off the pig, they're a bit more noticeable than I'd hoped, but for now:
And with the elemental, trying some ink based reverse highlights to try for glow. Red is scale75 inktense red, yellow is liquitex, white is vallejo.
Thinking I might need a darker red "highlight" after another yellow glaze pass for some brightness contrast, not sure. Also thinking maybe doing some blue on the head for white hot flame? We'll see how it goes.
59054
Post by: Nevelon
I do think a darker red highlight on the edges of the flames would be good. I might reserve the hottest blue flame for eyes and mouth
93473
Post by: Vejut
About what I was thinking, yeah Nevelon. Maybe out to black-grey even. Forgot the yellow ink at home for paint night so didn't really do more on him.
Instead pushed some more questoris on, almost there:
Need to do the pink highlight, purple wash, and then base up. Shouldn't be too much longer and then will just be three more in this set.
Also made some progress on the piggy and the tiny rhinos, and kicked out a black and white dragon (but not a black and white bike):

Lots of stuff almost done, actually starting to clear space back out in my travel bag...

Post by: Mothsniper
Good job on the bear cav! You got 5
Have you ever played Heroes-M&M6 for Dwarfs? They have some epic looking Dwarf cav that I wish GW or Reaper would make something similar.
I have 3 bear warriors so far, 1 in progress and 2 are duplicates.
93473
Post by: Vejut
Thanks! Never played Might and Magic, but the strategy guide looked cool. Yours look like cool conversions, and its half tempting me to get another of the bones ones to try something similar to expand the unit... Automatically Appended Next Post: And some minis, just need the white freehand and tolkeinian names for the second three melee knights:
And the first three double gun guys are just waiting on bases to be even with them:
The bases in question:
Could probably just use the last three resin bases I have, but thinking my home-made ones like the above are probably good enough for same army use, but not quite matched for same squad, and getting more from Ragnarok Hobbies internationally is a chore, so I need enough for the back half of the gun boys. Minor slowdown, thinking I could maybe have these guys and the second acastus ready as a household list by sunday...
79426
Post by: Mothsniper
If you do decide to get that bear warrior, get it in the bones plastic, cheaper than the metal ones.
93473
Post by: Vejut
I likely would for conversions mothsniper--main issue with the bones is it doesn't like thin bits like swords and spears to be straight much, but if I'm doing a weapon swap that hardly matters. Not one in stock at the game store when I checked though.
Got the bases done:
And got some knights on them:

Actually was considering them done , but then I realized I forgot the tilting shields. Still done enough to take them to a game today, where they all got exploded when two titans reactors went up, and also a couple glue joints failed, so back to repair and adjustment they go. Very close to a 1500 point knight household at least.

Post by: toasteroven
That's a lot of knights. Nice looking knights.
93473
Post by: Vejut
Thanks toasteroven! Eventually might get the unassembled 19 and the armigers I've got done...
Paint night wise, fire elemental ready for basing:
Made some solid progress on the muties, added a few colors on the new fuzzy 3d prints and mostly finished a troll:

And did a bit more on the piggy pinup:

Almost time for another basing frenzy...
93473
Post by: Vejut
New work schedule messing with my hobby schedule, getting a bit off time, but still have some things to show.
Fire elemental done, will have to post to the challenge later:

And troll done:

Some piggy progress, going to try taking the shine from the wash off with some matte varnish:
And playing with green stuff to try to get some stuff for trench crusade, lions of jabir to be. Both need something I think to not just be "reaper monsters with the wings off", and also feel like standard armor, but not sure what yet.

And readied another batch of tanks for the solar aux, may try to do more assembly like this in my dead times.
Feelong kinda off, hopefully historicon peps me up in a few weeks like usual, but doesn't do the usual rocket rush down a new cool thing...
93473
Post by: Vejut
Some paint night progress:
Mutie taurs blocked in, more or less:
Foxes likewise blocked, and some mouslings played with a bit:
And a big batch of 3d printed dracosans and valdors needing metallics, with a bit of guest salamander freehand:
130403
Post by: blockade23
Nice update, thanks for the reminder to work on my LI.
93473
Post by: Vejut
Some progress on the muties, almost there now:
Also playing with drafting a 2nd hand rat ogre into a trench crusade:
And on paint night, started some more rhinos and some progress on the dracosans:
And pulled out some 3d prints:
Werewolf got a lot of work, it and the fennec just need basing:

And some general progress elsewhere:
92460
Post by: aku-chan
Werewolf is looking snazzy!
Looking forward to see you dip your toes into Trench Crusade, people have been putting out some pretty cool stuff for that.
93473
Post by: Vejut
Forgot pics on paint night, but roughly what I worked on once at home:
Almost got the 8mm stuff ready to wash, and played with some kroot color schemes on the hounds. Closer shots of the hounds:
And finished up the dracosans and valdor tonight:

I'll get some better shots one they've dried and I have more time.
93473
Post by: Vejut
And post historicon report. Very fun con, as always, and a usual my scheduling got screwed up on my end, so I mostly did hobby U and painting stuff.
Took a shipbuilding class, will likely have to look into it more:
Got the details on dry-texture-pallet drybrushing (model seen here after some minor detail additions and basing paste at home:

Also learned the grid method of freehand (grid it out on both, flip bpth upside down and possibly cover the grids you aren't copying outlines on, then add color and cover gridlines), and tried resizing with smaller grids as well:
Brigade games had a painting conrest for their con swag mini, so painted him up one afternoon and put him in:

And also painted up a gnoll from reaper I bought at the con:

(Likewise shown here after base-o-rama once I got home)
And once I got home, finally matte varnished that pig warrior, and then based a whole bunch of things:
Pig warrior:

Rabbit larper and likely contest entry, depending on how much gets done at paint night:

(Have better, or at least different photos in the gallery for submitting if I don't get the other done)
Some rhinos:

And started priming last con and this con's 3d printed terrain haul:
Productive July so far, though still no real motion on that centerpeice...
93473
Post by: Vejut
Thanks Meer_Cat, thats probably a thing that rabbit would say...
And speaking of zigzagging interests, while the oathsworn soldiers are getting close to done:

--I also picked back up the slann mage priest from last year, albeit a bit beat up from the ordeal, and made a good bit of progress:
(Loosly sitting together)--
At least partially because I also wanted to paint some of the lizardmen I picked up at the con:

Pretty close to 1000 points, just need to finish these and the kroxigors I also got, and then 6 stands of skinks for a legal list. Not sure on that pillar though--playing with the nebula technique, not sure it works here. Either way, still progress being made...
93473
Post by: Vejut
Weekend update:
Finished up the teradons:

So I started the kroxigors and made some good progress there:
Once they're done, I think I'd just need to finish my plastic krox, and decide what I'm doing with the bloodbowl one I have to have a finished example of every Kroxogor GW made...(they didn't make one for mordheim, right?)
Also assembled some more kroot kinband:
And finished up the Oathsworn soldiers, just need to slide them over into the challenge thread:

And also didn't finish the cat warrior so much as feel done with him, but either way:

Next up, finishing those medusas, maybe doing some kroot, and possibly doing some titans for beep boop next month, (and maybe centerpiece?)
86460
Post by: Cap'n Facebeard
That's one ripped kitty
93473
Post by: Vejut
He certainly is Cap'n Freeboard, though I could have probably painted them more impactfully.
Paint night wise, took this secondhand commissar from primed and blacked in coat to just needing basing:

Did up my artillery to just the wash left:
And got some progress on the Kroot:

Probably will finish up the commissar and medusas tonight, and won't be a bad haul for July.
86460
Post by: Cap'n Facebeard
Heresy!
But very nice retro commissar there
93473
Post by: Vejut
Dang it, and I checked too...
Fair bit to show, just not the best at posting.
Started up on a Warlord titan, got the legs up:
Also started the head, and made some progress on the slann:

Slann finished, not my best work, but hopefully get the forest dragon version done eventually:

Also got the first 10 skaven assembled, and did some priming:

Did up a quick color test skaven, and pulled out some new Chronicle brushes:
Skaven:

Brushes new:

Brush after 1 skaven:
(Well, that ain't good...)
And back around to paint night. Trying to batch paint the 10 skaven, got the base colors done:
And painted this goofy guy from ironwind/Ral Partha as my breather mini between colors:

Sadly, priming the titan legs metallic went bad with the humidity, we'll see if I salvage or strip those, otherwise, feels like a good start to august.
93473
Post by: Vejut
Mostly just got the skaven done this week:

Feel it needs a bit more, but not sure what, so its done, I guess.
Closeup on the banner:

Probably switching off the titans, given no real progress this week, but possibly things will speed up a bit with the skaven out the way.
93473
Post by: Vejut
Paint night was mostly doing some mechs to fill out a DCMS lance for CBT, and the monthly challenge.
Cleaned up and primed:
Two-three very thin coats of burnt red, and some pyrole red highlight:
Inktense red highlight and picking out some color blocks:
And trim blocked out, needing to start shading:
Much closer to done than the titan I think...
130403
Post by: blockade23
Wait you mean my brushes aren't supposed to be curved like that?
Your workbench is how I imagine my brain to be, full of projects being built, primed and painted, but in no particular order. I love it.
How do you store all the miniatures?
93473
Post by: Vejut
Pretty sure thats sarcasm, but if not, nah, I expect curling from nylon/taklon, but this claimed to be kolinsky. Kinda disappointing.
I do tend to charge into a project til I run out of gas, then swap without putting it away because "aw, I'll get to it after..." (and then more jump on and it steadily gets buried...)
Storage wise:

Battletech on top
Animal adventurers, oathsworn, and other fuzzy things:
Legions imperialis and the non-travel packed WarGods:
Skirmish gaming and random fantasy:
And Saga and rank and flank armies:
Plus some assorted 40K and warmaster:
And then the epic:
Almost need another display case soon, and theres some stuff packed for travel and gaming as well.
Progress wise, just need freehand and basing on the mechs:

Sadly, didn't really match their lancemate's red. Oops...

Post by: Cap'n Facebeard
So much going on I don't know what to comment on. It all looks very good, I quite like the hobgoblin he has a very retro feel. The bestigor are nice models, I hope they get rereleased with TOW.
One question, in your storage cabinet photos, on the same shelf as the transparent rude finger hand, there is a giant great wolf monster. Could you tell us where you got that?
93473
Post by: Vejut
The Hobgoblin's an old Ral Partha peice--I think the sculpt stamp on the bottom is like, 2000 or so--its newly cast from Iron Wind, but it likely feels retro because it is.
Part of me does hope they release more beastmen with TOW, but the prices are getting up there beyond my willingness to pay, so not sure I'd get them even if they did. Luckily, I go to a lot of old gamer flea markets and have a large pile of shame, so I may end up with a beastman army anyways...
Big wolfy guy is Cnebba from Mierce. Not sure they're still making him, mine's been sitting a good while. IIRC they also had some less large ones named Creoda and "Creoda's pack"
86460
Post by: Cap'n Facebeard
Ah Mierce, of course. They do still sell him, but he is definitely not cheap
93473
Post by: Vejut
Thanks Meer_Cat, that is really appreciated. If you ever do get into WarGods, they do games on the HMGS con circuit, and its a fun little game. I hear you on the cost though, because metal models.
Tuesday paint night wise, kind of between things. Painted the next group of three armigers, just need basing:

Also broke out some of the latest haul from Wally's Basement, started some Land Speeders:
And mostly finished except basing some old plastic 6mm dradnauts:

Also cleaned up the werewolf barbarian, again, just needing basing tonight:

And picked up another 3D print from reaper, pretty flexible quality resin. Got him painted up pretty quick, albeit pretty basic:

Titan is looking unlikely, but hey, doing a bit more titanicus at least.
59054
Post by: Nevelon
Nice work on everything.
I keep seeing people paint battlemechs and really want to get back into that. But have enough stuff in the PoS that’s never going to see the tabletop as it it. But it might also be the fact that I’ve been playing Mechwarrior 5 on the computer. So I’ll just have to live vicariously through others for now.
86460
Post by: Cap'n Facebeard
Is that reaper print meant to be one of our dangerous Australian marsupials?
93473
Post by: Vejut
Thanks Nevelon. And battletech wise, there's always the option of painting up your favorite MW5 ride as a monitor mascot...
And Cap'n Facebeard, yep, they called it a "Drop Bear", pretty obviously a koala, and I tried to match the photos that came up when I googled it for the paintjob.

Post by: JoshInJapan
I haven't checked in for a while. You've been busy! I really like your work on those red Battlemechs. The Thunderbolt is much more dynamic than I've ever seen. Is that an official model?
93473
Post by: Vejut
Thanks JoshinJapan, it's from the eridani light horse set, as the jumping Thunderbolt. It comes not glued to its jump cloud, and has matching pegs to its base, while my attempt at painting the cloud was bad. I liked how it looked without, so I went with it. Automatically Appended Next Post: Also hobbywise, did actually get to some basing, though too late to paint:

You can also see the jump jet exhast cloud bit next to the mad dog, like I said, wasn't really working.
93473
Post by: Vejut
Paint night report, as usual mostly screetching in another direction.
Finally sat down and did the 6mm rat-ogryn, at least to across the table standards:

But most of the evening was kicking out a gladiator (sculptor and caster unknown and recently picked up secondhand):

His loyal pack of hyenas for the arena:

And his favorite weird mutant (some creature from Cell entertainment, probably their 1999 line):
So this afternoon is probably going to be another base-o-rama rather than a final titan push as I was considering. Do now have a goofy arena group, so not nothing!
86460
Post by: Cap'n Facebeard
Nice hyenas, and there's 3 of them so you can imagine they're the hyenas from Lion King
93473
Post by: Vejut
...if I'd been thinking, that would have been a good color scheme to pick. Technically was planning for the fourth to also be part of the group with the gladiator though.
Did some of the basing:
Hyenas:

Ratty boys:
Probably not getting time to make them fully done this month, stuff the next three days, but easy start to next one.
92460
Post by: aku-chan
Looking good!
Those are some itty bitty rat people.
93473
Post by: Vejut
Thanks aku-chan, they are kinda small--easy to paint because of it though!
For instance, got the fourth of them I couldn't find done sunday:

Also made a little terrain progress on the towers I bought from diabolical terrain, shoild be done just in time to get a few more at fall in:

Need to figure out how to clean up around those windows after I do the reflection smear.
And started trying to set up my next project. Pinup lizard, spoilered for nipples out, and a stack of self made city bases watimg for tiny perfectionist marines to stand on them:
Some burrows and badgers badgers, possibly my challenge models for absolute unit, if I don't go with the assault mechs I picked out :
And trying to decide if 5 wide is enough with the new WGA ashigaru 10mm guys for warmaster, feels a bit narrow for the 40x20, but they'll lool odd if I mix the readied spear poses in, and I'll lose base count if I use the pairs...
I will say haven't tried nipping them yet, but I do share the general worry about fragility--had one pike break in three peices just so far, though in a way I could push back together and hit with some plastic glue. Hoping to get some stuff done or near done tonight at paint night, but we'll see.
93473
Post by: Vejut
Tuesday paint night, mostly getting options ready for the challenge this month.
Got a space marine superheavy ready for fun, but for the challenge was thinking either some assault mechs in a 1st Kestrel black and blue flames scheme, a Long Tom in a Skye Jaegers blue and checkers:
Or some badgers for burrows and badgers:
Ended up painting up the base colors on the mechs and Long Tom, though not really happy with either, blue is peeling, and the black reads more grey:

But most of the night was just near finishing the Fellblade:

Just needs a base, and maybe an edge highlight and some minor recognition markings. Feels like decent progress for the start of the month.
76303
Post by: Warboss_Waaazag
Nice paintjob on that superheavy! Very cool.
93473
Post by: Vejut
Thanks!
Got them done too:

Base was too small, but enh, it'll hold it down well enough.
And the mechs aren't really getting better, but hey, they got flames on them now I guess?
Gonna try to just push them to done, then see what else grabs my fancy...
86460
Post by: Cap'n Facebeard
Nice flames and lava patterns on the Fellblade
93473
Post by: Vejut
Thanks Cap'n Facebeard!
Almost there on the mechs, just needs basing to dry and get painted, and some unit logo freehand.
And made a bit of progress blocking badgers colors:
Little more tonight, then see what happens at paint night. Automatically Appended Next Post: Got the mechs done:

Still not happy with them the black and fires are meh at best, but not feeling up to more fighting on improving them.
Small progress on the badgers:
And finished mechs means room to start another project, in this case some test tacs for my emperors children LI stuff:
Hopefully turn some more stuff to done at paint night tomorrow.
93473
Post by: Vejut
Paint night stuff, got a fair bit done
Kept inching forwards on the Badgers:
Need to do cloth and figure out if I'm TMMimg or NMMing...
Also doubled back and got the kroxigor painted up ready for basing:
And cleaned up and mounted the Long Tom--probably going to need a third base section, and still needs checkering:
Plus ran the emperor's children tests through to done--gloomy violet xpress paint, with dark plum drybrushed over works, though I might like to try pushing the color more if I could figure out how:
92460
Post by: aku-chan
Badgers are looking fierce!
93473
Post by: Vejut
Thanks aku-chan! Got a little further on then, with some highlights:

Not sure I like the steel grey armor plan still, but only other color I can think to sub is green, and not sure that's going to work either. Also think the cloth needs some deeper shading I'll have to figure out, but got some time still.
Also got the kroxigors based up and done:

Started some 15mm splintered light skeleton beastmen as 10mm skeleton minotaurs, which just count as plain skeleton warriors at tje warmaster zoom level:
And made some progress on more 8mm emperor's children:
Hopefully get a bit more done today and maybe even get some of them done for paint night...
93473
Post by: Vejut
So, got some more work done monday night, pushed a bit and got the infantry support done:
And paint night wise, started some 10mm (15mm, but used as minotaur skeletons) skeletons:
Started a base color for some heros for the store's painting contest:
Did the checkers for the skye jaegers scheme on my mobile long tom, albeit badly:

(Still needs a base bridge...)
And nearly done the badgers, mostly needs tartans, basing, a couple bits of freehand, and a little cleanup:

Still not sure whats going on the cards in the hat, and tempted to do some work on the breastplate, but worried about screwing it up. Not sure the sword snail is readble either, but we'll go with it...
93473
Post by: Vejut
Whelp. Plaid failed badly, and not really fixable without a partial strip that isn't happening this late in the month. Patched up best as I could and carried on, started basing:
Also started building my next set of city bases for LI:
And finsihed up the Mobile Long Tom by building a little mid strip, and doing the opposite side logo freehand.

Front half is mounted only to the front hex base, so I can use it either as the full train, or a more rules accurate single hex. Depending on how I feel on the badgers, may be my challenge entry--its not my best work, but that failed plaid on the skirt really brings down the badgers too.
76303
Post by: Warboss_Waaazag
I like the checker pattern on the train. All progress is good progress, hobby-wise.
86460
Post by: Cap'n Facebeard
Whenever badgers go to war they always put cards in their hat. I thought everyone knew this.
93473
Post by: Vejut
Warboss_Waaazag: I try to keep that in mind yeah, but was hoping for something a bit less speed painted--should probably spend more time on it then though.
Cap'n Facebeard: bit of a gambler, that badger. Hoping the major arcana are at least somewhat readable as Judgement and the Empress, at least when prompted, but at least they read as cards....
And finished shots:

Plus started some more tinymarines:
Almost got the starters worth of them done...
86460
Post by: Cap'n Facebeard
The badgers are very nice. I had to zoom right in to see the cards, but its a cool idea.

Post by: blockade23
More tiny tanks! Can't wait to see more painting progress on your LI. Makes me need to go back and do some highlight on the Tsons LI tanks I've already finished.
93473
Post by: Vejut
Some more LI infantry then, blockade23, theu mostly just needs basing work:
Ought to do the tiny tanks for them as well, be the last bits for that half the starter set...
Also did a color on the kroot while I waited for things to dry:
(And then finished the beastman champion, but forgot pictures before putting him in the contest cabinet...)
Think October's going to be a four pack of weres on the challenge which'll be quick, not sure what else to jump on, maybe more tiny marines.
134867
Post by: The_Retromancer
Loving all the LI stuff, its really tempting me to get some
93473
Post by: Vejut
Thanks! Going to be honest, the tanks are fine, if a bit fiddly, but the LI infantry is pretty badly undercut in spots, I'd look into vanguard minis, or 3d prints for your infantry as long as you aren't playing in a GW store. Its helping me get into the speedpainting mindset at least!
76303
Post by: Warboss_Waaazag
Every time I see the LI abbreviation, I think you're saying Long Island infantry. But in any case, they look great.
93473
Post by: Vejut
I think thats now my headcannon for my emperors children--just incredibly broad New York accents enforced on pain of shaming.
Finished the set of them too:
And just gotta do metallics and figure out what I'm doing for basing on the skellies:
Making some good progress, we'll see how the weekend goes.
93473
Post by: Vejut
Weekend saw me get some skellies done:
Not really happy with the basing, its very obviously "just slather wash on it" and lacks contrast with the skeletons themselves, thinking a more yellow color would be better, but brain isn't into redoing it, maybe when we do the next stands.
And got a bit locked in on them, but got a full 2nd box of LI infanty assembled and ready for prime:
Next up, seeing if I can get the paint side done...
93473
Post by: Vejut
Little sick, so no paint night to avoid spreading it. Usual distractions meant not as much got done, but did get pretty far on the marine batch:
Clean up the blue, add blacks and white, and do my gold, then base. Making good time, we'll see if it keeps up--also have to start the months challenge models....
93473
Post by: Vejut
And marine blob done:

And with them out, start the vehicles to try to get a starter half done:
Still got to get some.challenge stuff done too, been a bit off, we'll see how it goes.
93473
Post by: Vejut
Progress on the tanks:

Had to use a second layer of express to smooth it out on the bigger model I think, will try to drybrush them up and maybe finish them tonight.
Also started two of the challenge models--decided the other two didn't fit as well with the first set as I thought, and looked like more bits to paint, so they're moving to if I have time this month:
Torn between trying to speed paint a monster for the FLGS AoS paint comp, and doing a bunch of LI dreads next, we'll see what sticks.
59054
Post by: Nevelon
Very nice batch of tiny tanks.
93473
Post by: Vejut
Thanks nevelon!
Paint night again, made pretty good progress on the werewolves:

Just needs basing I think. Only really got them done, though, because its the gorkamorka league tuesdays this month. I finally took my muties out against some revolutionary grots in Da Chase:
Sadly, my rolling was enh, and his was good, and they got away with only minor damage, but was still a fun time:
Next up, basing werewolves, and choosing between more LI dreads, or a big angry cow...
134867
Post by: The_Retromancer
Great job on the LI marine blob and tanks, looking forward for the family picture
93473
Post by: Vejut
Thanks Retromancer, not sure I've got space and light for that--already covers a fair bit of shelf space.
Werewolves are done though.
Need to take better pics for the challenge as finals, but hard part is done.
59054
Post by: Nevelon
Very nice work on the werewolves. Looking forward to final formal shots.
92460
Post by: aku-chan
Nice job on the Werewolves!
106702
Post by: Godfiend
Those werewolves look fantastic! I love the fur patterns and colors.
93473
Post by: Vejut
Thanks Godfiend! Was trying to make them recognizable as specific breeds at least, glad at least the impression came out!
Got the blocking on Vai done, did a little sculpting touch with a skullz kit skull and some green stuff.
Plan is the pink will go to a pale pinkish red flesh, dark blue goes metallic, the scale armor goes bronze/copper, and the wing flaps to red.
Now we just gotta get all the detail work done...

Hard for the eyes to decipher now but I'm sure as you detail it'll look great.
The alsatiany werewolves remind me of one of those weird WW2 games that had Nazi werewolves
93473
Post by: Vejut
Thanks Cap'n Facebeard, I suspect they are similar sculpts to the konflict '47 werewolves.
Slightly clearer pictures--calling it done at paint night, mostly so I don't have to being it home with all my gear.

Probably do a bit more base work once it gets actually home, but happy enough for now, even if not my best work.

Continuing slow to start November, though to be fair part of that was the just passed Fall In HMGS con.
Did a few bits of painting at the con, like this painting faces learning minibust:
But mostly was gaming--some wings of glory, a fistul of lead pulp SF game (with bad lighting), a friends cold war gone hot fighter game, and of course, late night wargods:

Mostly ended up my shooty basti gunlining against some heavily armored amazons, while my harbinger went on a wild and almost doomed joyride around into some enemy skirmishers, though absurdly good luck on rolls let me sneak out a demigod kill and a win.
Got home, and did some related hobbying. Jackals based:

Some conversions started of more war gods stuff, basti hero and demigod of hecate:

some sand on the fast attack stuff for LI:
And some more progress on a trench crusade warband.
Need to finish some, but lots of choices. Automatically Appended Next Post: Paint night update. Did a little sculpting on the lions of jabr to be, setting up some armor:

Also got the crocs about ready to base up I think, just gotta remember what size that is...

And did a little assembly on the reaper crocs and some ratty bushi:

Sadly, the crocs look OOP, or I'd pick up more for a brain wave I've been having, but hopefully these at least paint up decent.
93473
Post by: Vejut
Paint night, just need bases and the shield on the trench crusade, though just missed getting them done for gaming:

And got block colors in on the AEG nezumi:
Should probably have fully done the fur before blocking, but not a huge deal I don't think.
93473
Post by: Vejut
Slow week so far, but did get the trench crusaders done:

Could use more punch up, maybe someday. Am happy with the brazen bulls shield after three tries--ended up wood texturing a D&D flat base and painting the front.
93473
Post by: Vejut
Some paint night progress. War gods basti hero just needs her shield:

Something resembling progress on the rats, gonna be cutting it close if I want to put them into the challenge:
And Emps children fast attack just needing eyes, nozzles, and a cleanup pass before basing:
We'll see what else gets done before the end of the year. Close enough to 1 base worth a day at 303 that part of me wants to push for it, but thats still a lot of painting for 6 weeks...
133289
Post by: Tommygun1918
Nicely layered painting. I have a few of those War Gods minis. I love the crocodile ones.
93473
Post by: Vejut
Thanks Tommygun! The sebeki are great yeah, trying to workmyself up for an army of them as well--maybe next year.
Finished the basti:

And started up some basing on rats and tiny stuff:
Closeup on the rats:

Probably not getting any high scores, but probably will be done in time.
93473
Post by: Vejut
Slow progress through a busy week. I got some more dreads assembled:
Made some skeleton progress:
And got close to done on the infantry blob:
Hopefully a bit more gets done on vacation on the back half the week.

I can't get over how much your workspace looks like my old workspace from 2 apartments and 4 years ago. Great progress on all your projects.
93473
Post by: Vejut
Thanks Warboss_Waaazag! I guess messy desks do kind of resemble one another.
Got some time off, so made some progress.
Infantry got done, bumping me up over 1 base per day again for a bit:

May have to do a "progress on this project for the year" photo as part of the geneal January stock take and reorganization. Not doing it right now as I'm still doing models on it this year:
Kinda wanted to get two boxes of bots built and painting started, but not looking likely--waaaay too many parts on the leviathan legs.
Also got some skeleton progress:
Not what I wanted to do for the December challenge, but likely what I will do. What I wanted to do was a bust I got 3d printed:
Probably starting too late to really do a good job this month though, especially as its a bit awkward sized to get around in my model bag to paint night. I'd rather try to do a good job than rush it--more of a display piece anyways.
Also working more croc games stuff:
A tits out Demigod of Hecate to lead some infamous mycenaeans for wargods of olympos. Should probably do the Amazons first, but ah well.
Also trying out some speed painted 3d prints for legions to do raven guard, but sadly I kinda screwed up the basing trying to figure out a faster method.

Hole in the washer and the mixed figure mounts kinda messed it up I think, and I think pressed plastic sheet for cobbles and then some accent sand may be a better approach anyways. May do them up instead as white scars, or just use them as paint tests.
92460
Post by: aku-chan
The bust and Hecate are off to a good start!

Post by: blockade23
Your LI guys are looking good. Getting that purple and white combo crisp on that small a level is tricky. Can't wait to see a family shot when they're all done!
93473
Post by: Vejut
Thanks Aku-chan. The demigod of hecate god some progress:
Was thinking to freehand the cloak with some feather patterns, but kinda likong the way its going, not that its visible in that shot...
And thanks blockade23, don't think I'm adding more this year, thinking I may try that Wednesday or Thursday, given the deredeos are done:

And the thunderhawk I think is getting close:
Also got some skeleboys done:

Also finally based up a crocodile man, trying to fit him on a 25mm to match the sebeki, but the stance is just a touch wide:

Gets me to 365 for the year, was thinking that made 1/day, but this was a leap year as I recall, so...still one short. Should manage that in the next two weeks though.
93473
Post by: Vejut
Due to breasts out or awkward size, not really able to take the T-hawk or Demigodess to paint night, so more scattershot projects:
Some skeleton archers:
Just need to reattach the head and base.
And some mechs of various makes:
Test mule-ing the phantom for an E:A eldar titan house:
Thinking yellow trim and green windows and spot detail, but how thay all interlocks is still WIP. Also not sure what weapons those are. Lance is the long probably, but whats the shorty?
And some random yellow scheme clan mechs. Sadly, paint's not drying fast enoigh and keeps peeling back:
We'll see where they go...
93473
Post by: Vejut
Incremental progress for the day, skeletons bases started, and restored head:
And phantom titan trim base colored. Just gotta figure out the cabling and grillework...
93473
Post by: Vejut
Skeletons done.

Also have a little more progress on the titan:

Think thats basic colors set, now just need to shade and highlight.
And some minor color added to some cheesecake:
Coming along, almost done with the year. Army pictures held up on finding a spot with good light. Hope everyones holidays are going well.
92460
Post by: aku-chan
Nice skellies!
93473
Post by: Vejut
Thanks aku-chan! They're such easy guys to paint...
Clearing of projects continues.
Demigoddess of Hecate is done, I think. Was happy enough until I saw the photos, but I think more blending is going to have to wait for a redo after a while.
Usual bare breasts spoilers
And got some progress on the eldar titan.
Yesterday:

And assembled and almost based today:

Almost there, maybe a drybrush and wash on.the dirt, possibly some tufts, and inserting the dial.
Short paint night tomorrow for christmas eve, probably mostly gonna be small noodling work. Merry christmas everybody!
59054
Post by: Nevelon
Always nice to see the assortment of stuff crossing your desk.
Merry Christmas.
93473
Post by: Vejut
Thanks Nevelon, hopefully your holidays are going well.
Shorter paint night, mostly cleaning up older mechs:
DCMS Mad Dog, with cool snake/dragon mech tatoo:
Some Thumpers mercs:
And random yellow clanners:
93473
Post by: Vejut
Got the tumpers finally all done and dusted:

And getting pretty close on the freehand Mad Dog and the clan yellow guys:

Also did myself a little silly objective marker for small scale chaos forces to use up some excess milliput:
And started in on the troops for the mycenaeans:

Trying to keep them in manageable chunks so I don't bog down.
59054
Post by: Nevelon
Nice work on the mechs.
Not burning out can be rough on rank and file. Good luck!
93473
Post by: Vejut
Thanks Nevelon! Got a little more at paint night, but forgot to photograph it. Everybody got base flesh colors done, which means I gotta figure out what the clothes are going to be now.
Mostly I did some more with my ork BFG fleet as somebody else was doing tau and the bug bit a bit:

And played around with a Clay Golem from reaper as flesh practice. I'd put it in the challenge as I'm pretty happy with how it came out, but forgot before pictures.:

Could probably shaded the pants harder so they didn't look unfinished, but ah well. Theres actually a speedpaint and a highlight there.
Also got home and immediately had number-go-up bite a bit, decided I wanted the last few minis under this year, not first of next year, so finished the basing on the mechs real quick:

And finished-ish the Thunderhawk. Not sure it should really count--no base, but technically doesn't need one, though mutant third hand thats for if I'd modeled gear down...

Anyways, happy new year all, may it be a good additon for your hobbies!

Thanks Tommygun1918 and aku-chan!
Did a bit of checking back and such on last year. Mostly seemed to be a year of rush, speed painting, and tiny guys. Plus side is the final count was 379, so managed a bit over a mini a day on average. Of course, helps 176 were legions imperialis, another 42 were for epic:Armageddon, and 18 and 7 for adeptus titanicus and warmaster respectively-- a lot of tiny bases worth of stuff being done. On the other hand, had a least a few minis for almost every game system I've been into recently--two necromunda gangs, a trench crusade force, over a company of battletech mechs, a few war gods and burrows and badgers guys, some generic fantasy rank and flank stuff, and even a few AoS and 40k models. Do feel the quality has fallen off with the speed though, at least on a whole model basis.
Doing the traditional hobby bingo roundup, actually scored a bingo this year:
Titan for a vehicle, cnebba as a monster, all the titanicus got painted before play. Did a fair few conversions, on both necromunda and trench crusade, built a lot of bases, and sculpted armor on the brass bull, weapon swapped on the basti hero. Generally a well rounded set of things done.
Going forward, kinda aborted tracking my purchases last year fairly early, would like to do paint more than I buy this year, or at least get a handle on how much I'm picking up. On the other hand, need to actively resist number go up more--probably still be doing a fair bit of speed paint just because of the number of projects I want to do, but some of those legions guys were more for quota. Kinda want to do at least a bust this year, and consider entering crystal brush at historicon--dunno if the time will be there. Likewise, want to try to get an opfor for wargods running--have several options, just gotta get some units to finished.
During the week, got some light mechs pretty far along for the dakka challenge--not sure I like how the paneling is, not sure how to save it though.

Otherwise just needs basing.
At paint night itself, likewise ready to base some steiner blue battle lance:

Made a little more wargods hoplite progress:
And made some good work on the eldar titan:

Got my dark mech constructs for LI in today, so now 26 in the hole for paint vs buy, seeing as the mechs are new buys, and nothing done yet, but should be getting a fair few on the board soonish, between the spaceships and.the mechs...
59054
Post by: Nevelon
Nice work as always.
If you are talking about proof pics for our competition here, don’t worry about it if you want to enter the clay golem. Your painting life is a pretty open book here on your blog. It’s not like you were secretly working on him for months. You are a regular who’s been entering constantly for years. I trust you.
93473
Post by: Vejut
Thanks Nevelon! Partially I don't want to abuse that trust, but also I was going to put him in for December, which is currently voting, so a bit late--skeleboys will just have to do.
Am making progress on the mechs though, just gotta paint up the basing and tuft up tomorrow:

Little glazing helped the green guys. Think another edge highlight might really push them, but worried about getting caught in a cycle of edge up-too wide-glaze down...
93473
Post by: Vejut
And first finished models for 2025:

Didn't end up doing the edge highlight again.

Post by: Thargrim
Nice Eldar titan, always liked the old school look of those. Purple and yellow suits them well.
93473
Post by: Vejut
Thanks Thargrim.
Spent the weekend basing up the space ships:

Also dug out some old ork 3d prints, and some chaos stuff, may start doing some of that, as a buddy wants to get back on the bfg train.
We'll see what actually floats in front of the brush.
59054
Post by: Nevelon
Shame BFG really never took hold locally. Always liked it, and the ships were cool and fun to paint.

Post by: JoshInJapan
I like that Lion-man. Are you experimenting with NMM now?
93473
Post by: Vejut
Thanks! Playing with NMM a bit, depending on how much of a pain in the butt it feels it'll be and whether I'm trying for speed or looks.

Post by: Miguelsan
I log in to ask for your secret ways painting those lion/lioness fellows from Wargods. I find them inspiring yet cannot figure how to replicate your paintjob.
M.
93473
Post by: Vejut
Miguelsan--uhhh, I actually forgot the specifics, each of the batches and characters get a slightly different look because of that. I think the oldest ladies were something like prime white, VMC Iraqi Sand, VMC buff, VMC Ivory (or possibly pale yellow?), wash with army painter mid brown shade (may have been soft tone instead). More recently I think was something like vallejo brown sand (or green ochre), iraqi sand, pale sand, then wash sepia (army painter or vallejo both work), and use a dry clean brush from above to brush off the sepia from the highs while its still wet. Its basically khaki/ochre shades and a red brown shade/wash to tie things together. Going to make the add-ons I want to make eventually hell to match though. (Also checked after writing this, but theres a couple wips back on page 1 of this thread, though probably not much of use)
Painting progress wise, gobbos are done:

As long as I fudge counting from time in the door instead of time bought, made my 48 hour aquire to paint models for the bingo card done. Also not counting them for paint more than I buy, as they've been paid for and are for use of the roommate. Definitely showing the speedpainting, but happy enough for d&d table fodder.
And also some small progress on the shipping:

We'll get on to details on those tomorrow. Doing pretty good so far.
93473
Post by: Vejut
Paint night wise, mostly stayed project focused.
Playing around with white and orange for the avellar guard for battletech:
And most of the way there on the next cruiser batch. Should probably stayed at two to the batch though:
Hoping to get them both done soon, should probably drop back to the eldar eventually...
133289
Post by: Tommygun1918
That looks like a rough sea state for those ships!
The painting is looking good.
93473
Post by: Vejut
Thanks tommygun1918!
Some finished and less storm tossed crusiers:

And playing with some other possible fleets, eldar and ad mech:

Gonna try some other stuff at paint night tonight , the ships don't carry well, but hoping to make some progress tomorrow.
Automatically Appended Next Post: And some paint night stuff:
Started some more mechs, this time some dracs to go with the mad dog:
Also started some old metal marauder horse as a buddy's moving back towards warmaster:
And for the challenge, a post apocalyptic bazooka team from bad squiddo:

Almost done there, mostly wanting basing, and maybe some glazing to tighten things up...
93473
Post by: Vejut
Some progress, should get done by this weekend:

And a nice group shot for stock taking on my warmaster stuff:
Hopefully get a game in soon...
93473
Post by: Vejut
Did get done this weekend:

As did, more or less, the post apoc missile team:

More or less as I've gotten some advice and crit on them, so may try to push the quality up a bit more, more advice definitely welcomed.
Also started more projects, because of course I did:
Want to get some actual command for my lizardmen, that and some skinks should get me a usable army.
And feeling my way through some eldar, going to try to use a similar scheme to the titan if I can:
We'll see what actually gets done at paint night.

I shake my head every time I come here: it's not just the volume of owrk- it's the breadth of variety and the quality at the same time. Rock on, man, rock on!
93473
Post by: Vejut
Thanks Meer_Cat, its mostly lack of focus though.
Speaking of, a little more paint night progress:
Shipping pretty far along:
A second mech color:
And priming up more warmaster:
I'm sure some of this stuff will get done eventually...
93473
Post by: Vejut
Well, some of it is done, at least.
Spaceships and the lizard heros done and based:

Stars I think I did a little dense, and shouldn't have done on the stems, but happy enough with them.
Also put a little paint on the doggies:
And rushed a cruiser through paint as we're having a presidents day bfg cruiser clash game tomorrow, and I wanted something for anti-torpedo work:

Hoping the brain lets me do the doggies next...
93473
Post by: Vejut
Did get the doggies ready for basing:
And paint night wise, started up another set of chaos escorts (and a peegy tonk):
Plus for a friends d&d game, took a guy from this:
To more or less done:

Hoping tonight to finish the dogs and escorts...
59054
Post by: Nevelon
That looks really good. Especially going from blister to done in no time.
92460
Post by: aku-chan
Those speed painted Halflings came out nice!
93473
Post by: Vejut
Thanks aku-chan! Would have liked to do more with the skin, but was also trying to just finish then off.
Speaking of finished off, base-o-rama'd the hordes:
And then finally finished the dogs and the slaaneshi goober charachter (paravane or something?) that's been sitting around a while, plus a generic demon prince as an overlord a friend gave me:

Also got in some parts from an packing errored order for the bfg chaos fleet, sadly, my gamble on them did not pay off, and they did not fit the cruisers:

Tried sanding the bottoms, but was kind of a bit too slow...but cutting the back wall off the top seems to have mostly done it:

Gonna need a touch of filler, but mostly seems to have got it.
Also playing with scultping more warmaster objective markers:
Not sure I like them yet, we'll see where we get.
93473
Post by: Vejut
And some paint night stuff:
Bunch of projects to choose from:
Mild shipping progress:
Objective just needs flocking and drying:
Blocked out the bulldog for my ratlings:
And made some small progress on the eldar titan:

But mostly I took the tiny tank from last week and finished some war peegs:

Debating what to do for the challenge--space marines just not really speaking to me. Thinking the peegs or the bulldog, may do a protest eldar escort or chaos cruiser. We'll see what comes out.
93473
Post by: Vejut
I keep having a lot of ideas for the challenge this month for someone with no ideas.
Got some progress at paint night on the protest eldar:
But also got these space raptor infantry ready to paint:
And also considering this infinity tikbalang a friend gave me:
In other news, did a black pudding for a buddies D&D game:

And started some bfg terrain. This orb will eventually be a planet:
We'll see how the week goes.
93473
Post by: Vejut
Did in fact start more stuff at paint night.
Painted up the objective markers from last week, mostly just need the ground done:
And started some ogres for a d&d game:
But most of the night was more warpeegs:
Ramming cart, and akira slide bike:

133289
Post by: Tommygun1918
Those warpeegs are hilarious.
93473
Post by: Vejut
They are! I've got one more to go, but it was a bad cast (sides shrunk in), so it needs some repair with milliput first.
Picked up another space marine option:
This overlord dropship. Made some nice progress;
Not happy with the red, but I think we're past fixing it.
And at paint night, some mechs finally down to basing:

(May redo the mech tattoo on the mauler, and may do some freehand unit insignia, but thats bonus stuff)
Also got the ogres down to basing:

And started three more needing done by sunday.
Not gonna be up to usual standards, but they will be done quickly.
Also for said d&d game:
A wyvern, and a giant lizardman for my fun:

Lotta stuff getting close to the done pile, we'll see what finishes by the end of the month.
55682
Post by: JoshInJapan
I have a number of Warpeegs that came with other Bad Squiddo minis. I guess I should paint them.
Is that dropship for Battletech? I've never seen one in the wild.
59054
Post by: Nevelon
How does the Overlord scale? Aren’t they supposed to carry a whole company of mechs? I thought they were supposed to be huge! Granted, I’ve not paid close attention to battletech since the 90s... Nice work with the shading to break up all the space.
Always a fun assortment of stuff crossing your bench. Lizardman is particularly good.
93473
Post by: Vejut
JoshinJapan, I'd love to see you do some peegs.
And thanks Nevelon! Playing with simpler color sets with him!
Also, it is a dropship for battletech! Its supposed to hold a battalion of 36 mechs at a time, in lore.
This one is a bit of a chonker, but smaller that that nonetheless. Battletech has a different scale for the map and the models (1:285 vs 1 hex=30m or about 1:1000), and its scaled to fit its map sheet size!
59054
Post by: Nevelon
Right, the leopard was the lance, union was the company, and the overlord was all your baskets in one egg.
Scale might be off, but looks good with the mechs.
130403
Post by: blockade23
Looking great! The breadth of different minis and styles is awesome. Very cool stuff. Everytime I see BFG I go hmmmm and then remember I cannot do yet MORE games.
93473
Post by: Vejut
Thanks Blockade, keeps me from getting bored. And hey, gothic ships aren't that hard to speedpaint well and then use in Void Admiral or the like...
Finished off the week by finishing off the Overlord dropship, and making some progress on the Overlord-C...

Almost did a DCMS symbol on it, but the AFFS navy uses red and black too, and I liked the idea of being able to use it with more forces cleanly. The Overlord-C is very much getting a Jade Falcon mark though. Hopefully next week.
93473
Post by: Vejut
Paint night update:
Some diffuse progress, a color each on the eldar titans and raptors:
The cavalry camo lance is just needing some basing and maybe freehand work:
And did a random pair of plausible but weird camos, for Nova Cat and not sure yet (totally not dragonfruit), likewise just needing unit markings and basing:
(Jenner already got a nova cat symbol you can see in the wide view, but I hadn't decided on that yet when doing closeups)
And also pushed a D&D dragon through for the roomie:

Just basic basecoat, two layers drybrush, wash, still needs the statue done without screwing up the dragon, but reasonably happy with it as a speedpaint.
We'll see how the rest of the week goes.
93473
Post by: Vejut
Wyvern got its statue, but I added a base and forgot pictures. Did work on a dropship, but the union instead of the Overlord-c:

And at paint night, got the laser raptors ready to base:
And did up a frankenmech for the challenge and most of a light star about to halfway. Was trying to match last weeks Jenner but forgot what paint I used and didn't check my refs, so:
I think I like the color here better as art, but not sure it works for camo. Think I have another locust and Jenner iic, may just color match the three...
93473
Post by: Vejut
Still forgetting to post during the week. Decent progress, got the three clan mechs based up, may do some more shading, gem, and freehand work, but usable for now:

Likewise, dragon all done:
nes%20Usa%2C%20Reaper%20Miniatures%2C%20Temple%20Dragon.jpg[/img]

And the first set of space raptors:

Still figuring out what the second batch looks like...
F(semi-) LGS had a decent bunch of savannah masters, ended up picking up enough for two companies. First one got done monday, except for basing which I'm still working out.

Trying an eriadani light horse scheme.
Then at paint night, did the other company to freehand unit marks and basing in lyran colors:
Also did the back part of the clan high speed lance (and a little frankenmech progress for the challenge, maybe):
And some decent progress on d&d guys for the roommate:
Still got a bit of time to bring them in before the end of the month.

93473
Post by: Vejut
Thanks Sherrypie--likely to be a bit for more, but they have been started...
Thanks Aku-chan! He's a fun little guy! Got him fully done and based up too!

And the bunny:

Plus as 2e comes soon, finally got a couple games of 1e Burrows&Badgers in! One of seoze the point:

Where the enemy otter royalists rolled my mixed but heavily armored royalists thoroughly, leaving only my leader and his valet alive...
And then a camp ambush:

Where bad luck ended up with a slinger pinging his leader to death on a shot into melee, that then snowballed against him.
Fun game, not the deepest but a pretty quick play (about an hour each including setup on one and a show and tell to the next table over on the other)! Hopefully 2e is even better and I can get some games in.
At paint night, did my usual spray of attention:
But the heavy nova cats got done:
Got started on some MASH and mobile HQ for the challenge:
And ran through a little furry dude (besides the snake in the background of the mash trucks)

Didn't realize until I went to look up the stl sculptor to post here he was an otter, thought he was a reptile like his bagmate the snake, so he's got a bit of a weird color scheme going on. May do a bit more, but feel they're pretty well basable as is. Hoping to base up the mechs and otter and figure out what else I'm doing tomorrow...
59054
Post by: Nevelon
Love the rabbit and squirrel. Good progress on the rest.
93473
Post by: Vejut
Thanks Nevelon!
Got the mechs based up:

And the otterlizard--

Less happy with him, but also kinda proud of the freehand on the cloth. May come back to him around June, maybe try to clean him up more to "not get totally laughed out of the competition" grade for Historicon's crystal brush.
Also started some skeleboys that I ordered uh...october 2023. Oops?

And alsp started a pinup furry peice from the same order. Lost her swappable weapon hands, had to borrow some from a warlord celts kit. Also decided to try some limited palette work--ferrari red, black blue white, and black. May add a mid blue for 5 as the black blue wasn't going to actual (desaturated) blue when lightened with white like I hoped, just to kick the wraps and jewelry up a bit, though a yellow might be a smarter play to put gold in as an option.
Spoiler for extremely naked rat lady:
We'll see what gets done tonight.
93473
Post by: Vejut
Paint night update, chariots are ready to base:
And skeletons got there tonight:
Finished up a davion guards blood asp:

Made minor progress on.the support trucks:
Made some decent effort on the snake man from last week:
And started a magical girl kobold:
Hoping to base some skeletons tomorrow, we'll see what gets where.
92460
Post by: aku-chan
Nice job on all those tiny skellies!

Post by: theCrowe
Magic girl Kobold is excellent! Great idea!
Nice proper Davion colours too. My Kurita mechs missed trying to trace the lines with medium Lasers after they changed to that crummy tri-coloured scheme. The Dragon approves!

Thanks aku-chan! Theu were fun, but man do I need to do a lot if I want to make that an army, not sure I'm there for it.
And thanks theCrowe, got the kobold from a group called twin goddess minis, it was fun to paint. On the mechs, i guess they just decided to make the French expy thing explicit.
Finished kobold:

Got some more layers on the slaaneshi demons:
Started and did the armor on my next group of basti:
And used the spare millitput for some fur on taur conversions:
Then on paint night, got the mobile HQ and MASH units ready for basing:

Not happy with the white one, especially the freehand, but I think the green came out OK.
Also got the snake ready to base:

And finally backtracked around to the hedgehog and mouse from oathsworn:
Time for another base-o-rama...

You do get an awful lot of figures painted Vejut.

My favourite is that angry lady Hedgehog.

Thanks Captain Brown, feel like I'm sacrificing quality a bit for it, but I also feel like armies are actually getting to playably painted so...
And thanks aku-chan, oathsworn does such characterful models.
For the weeks progress, finished up the skink batch, and the cavalry:

And also finally did those raven guard I meant to get to, admittedly to give away to a friend for Titan hunter infantry tokens for AT18:
Also took a painting class on volumetric style painting, and then finished up the practice mini:

Then tried an independent practice mini for it on paint night:

Also some incubi and a catobelepas for the buddies D&D:

Catobelepas is probably getting a wash at more before basing (though part of me wants to push the color up more...) The demons are...still very rough. Not needed for a month or two though, so should have time...
Also ripped through the last batch of skinks:
Still needs a fair few points and one more saurus if I want to do 2k, but I think I'm pretty solid for 1K, thoigh not especially effective meta wise. Hoping I keep rolling this week.

Bit of a scatterbrain week.
Skinks got done, but forgot to take pictures before cabineting them, so here they are almost done:
Also based up the catobelpas:

Got a gorgon for D&D (the bull type) almost done:
And started up a barrelful of monkeys for the d&d game:
Also started some Behemoth tanks for BT and the challenge, but sadly didn't remember to photograph them early enough:
Paint night, got a few monkeys down to basing:

Likewise the tanks:

And the only reason I'm not calling the incubi done is because I think I want one more black wash on the base:

Probably do another base-o-rama soon, especially as I also started and near finished a Regent Mech...but again forgot pictures.

Looks like the yearly funk is in, not much to report.
2nd gorgon done:

Some minor unphotographed stuff got worked on at the desk, and at paint night, we got a shotgun of speed painted battletech, some half done critters, and some base colors for even shorter than normal chaos dwarves:
Need to touch up the dot pattern on the gargoyle smaller and do some freehand, but otherwise, some more basing to do, and a bit of this and that...

A really cool mix of figs on display in here as usual Vejut.
Love the volumetric highlight experiment - looks great on the marine but I think it really pops on the kenku/raven-man.
Thanks for sharing!

Thanks tzurk! Having the home practice of an idea come out is always nice!
Got some centaurs done:

And the furry dudes:

So of course at paint night I started more stuff onto the plate:
Made some progress, but kinda still in the ugly stage:
And did some progress on titans:
Not making it to historicon, unfortunately, so less worried about missing getting them and the girls done on time, but we'll see what I get to this week. Dealing with some IRL stuff around the house. May be a bit slower.

As always, amazed at the speed and variety of things crossing your bench.
Rat and Badger look particularly good.

The Furry Dudes look like they are right out of the Mossflower books by Brian Jacques!
