I was looking at the press release and couldn't quite tell if these are going to be distributed to stores/sold online, or if they're Gencon exclusives...

If the latter--who wants to hook me up with some Khador and Cygnar lovin'.

I think they're expensive, though. 90 bucks.

They do seem to be ridiculously expensive.

Their website also has some pictures of a snowy mountain pass with several of those mortars on it. Good grief that would be expensive.

So expensive they're garbage in my eyes.  Why would I pay $90 US for a lazercut hardboard terrain set?!?  That's insane.  Of course the PP fans 'ill say it's ok since you don't need multiple floaty cryx balls to play one game.

Lazercut hardboard terrain?

Its resin mate. Like GF9's other terrain products.

Why are you complaing about the prices, anyways? You do collect GW after all. Compulsively, I might add.

They're huge terrain pieces, and pre-painted. I don't have time to paint my figs, never mind all the terrain collecting dust in my basement. I'm getting the Cygnar piece just because it's too darn cool. I don't play Cryx, but their piece is tempting just for coolness.

Pretty cool, but a bit too expensive for my tastes.  If I had unlimited money, I would definitely buy them though.

My next miniature purchases are most likely going to be Hordes minis though.  Curse you, Malfred!

I think GF9's sole intent is to make Forgeworld to look better and cheaper in comparison.

I've seen things you people wouldn't believe. Attack ships on fire off the shoulder of Orion. I watched C-beams glitter in the dark near the Tannhauser gate. All those moments will be lost in time, like tears in rain. Time to die.

Yeah, but GF9 does have some other really nice products that aren't so expensive.

Yes, like tokens for a caster that cost more than the caster, and dice that cost more than the dice GW puts out, and $7 plastic tape measures... $11 template sets....

Most of the stuff is nice, but geesh. To complain about the high cost of other stuff and say GF9 isn't... well is silly.

I was thinking more of their pre-painted terrain for Flames of War, but okay.

Templates and stuff are expensive, but do you know a company who makes cheap templates?  Besides making your own out of paper of course.  GW templates are expensive too.  Unlike miniatures, however, templates are often a one-time purchase.  At least, I've never met anyone who collected templates.

At least, that's how I justify it.  But yes.  Templates are expensive.

90 bucks...ouch.

The Protectorate one is nice. I caught a glimpse of it in someone's photo gallery. I messaged them and they
replied yep, it's the terrain.

But 90 bucks, even for prepainted...ouch.

I happily paid $30 for 6 resin islands for Pirates. Actually I bought two sets...

But then again, islands in Pirates is far more compulsory than a coule nice pieces of terrain.

I made my own islands for ten bucks and in two hours. I bet I could make the storm research center for about ten bucks too.

I love the GF9 stuff but I find that it is just not afordable.

Sounds like a challenge.  Perhaps we should do some sort of "duplicate this piece of terrain for ten bucks" thing in the Modeling section of the forums.

I'm not going to comment on price, but as someone who's actually worked at GF9 (building tables for the 06 Colonial GT), I can say that whatever they do is always top notch. I'm sure every single one that gets shipped will look as good as the ones pictured here. Those guys really, really give a crap about what gets shipped.

Now will someone please post a pic of the Menoth version!

yeah, the terrain/structures look solid. then you get hit over the head with the price and reality sets in.  they would be nice if they were half the price.

Hey dude- the cannon's base looked lasercut to me.  ;p

And I have OCD.   Ok?  No, honestly, I do.  Ask Malfred.
