MiniCon is an independent 40k GT (1850 points) that will be held in Raleigh, North Carolina the weekend of October 11 - 12! There will be a huge mega battle using the Apocalypse Rules on Friday, October 10th that will start at 5 p.m. and run until 10 p.m. to kick off the event. We will be holding our venue at University Towers on the North Carolina State University campus (see directions below). University Towers is only 20 - 30 minutes from the Raleigh Durham airport and there are a lot of economically priced hotels located close by. Go to our forums to learn more about lodgings. The 40k GT will consist of five rounds, three on Saturday, and the final two on Sunday. Each round will be 2.5 hours long. Go to this site for more details:

The mega battle is free and open to all registered players! The 40k GT entry fee is only $35 which includes a hot lunch on both Saturday and Sunday with a nice range of dishes to choose from. MiniCon places a high emphasis on sportsmanship! Expect to have a great time at this event and play five fun action packed games. This will be one of the first 5th edition GTs to be held in the US and our team is doing everything possible to make sure that it all goes off without a single hitch. We have a veteran tech priest on our team that will be developing all five exciting missions!

Very interesting. There was talk of this at the April tourney up in Greensboro. Great to see it's come to fruition.

We are putting the emphasis on having fun and top sportsmanship. We also tried very hard to come up with a reasonable price for a GT level experience.

Hmm, I got great sportsmanship scores in Greensboro. Everyone frogstomped me...they were reasonably happy putting the beatstick to some Eldar.

I have had similar experiences.

Hi everyone! I wanted to let you all know that we will be hosting a Deathrace 40k match on the Friday evening. You can check out the rules on our forums. If you remember the movie which starred Peter Fonda you will have an idea just how crazy it can get and it is going to be a lot of fun! The rules are very detailed and we will have a TO there to walk you through each round. In fact the rules remind me a bit of 2nd edition. Spectators can place bets each round and all the proceeds will go to a local charity. Check it out!

Hello all fellow Dakkites!

Here is an update:

The MiniCon has been advertised in the latest White Dwarf (US) and appears on page 106... it listed as being run by Skull Bonez - this is the MiniCon!

Players should bring 7 copies of their army lists, one for each opponent, one for themselves plus another for tournament organizers.

The 4th edition SM codex will be in effect so please don't bring a SM army and plan on using the new upcoming codex.

It looks like we will be using missions from the 5th edition rulebook with an advanced scoring system to supplement W/D/L... more on this later.

I hope that this is a BIG success.

I also hope the 'Ard Boyz isnt the same weekend as this next year. The only reason I'm missing out on the full weekend gaming this tourney offers.

How many 40k'ers you guys got signed up GBF?

the count now is around 20+ and I am expecting a few people to wait and register on Saturday morning. The pre-registration really helped a lot and I recommend it to anyone running a big event like this. The 40k Ard Boys semi final will also occur this Saturday and a store in Raleigh is hosting this region so we lost out on all those gamers such as yourself Shane. Hopefully next year the two events won't be scheduled right on top of each other... otherwise I could have played in the Ard Boys this year. This is two years in a row now that I have missed out. Oh well, hopefully I can play next year.

And to anyone still thinking about it you can still register this Friday evening during the mega battle or early this Saturday morning... so it's still not too late to participate!
