This may have been posted, but I just checked out GW's New Releases pages and there's a whole slew of new bitz packs they've put up, including to my own excitement, packs of 5 plasma guns for $6 and 5 melta guns for $6. They're not available yet, but you can pre-order them.

Sweet! No more having to pay $2.50 - $3.00 per Plasma/Melta Gun!

Other bits packs include Terminator Assault Cannons, Lightning Claws, White Scars Conversion Packs, EC Sonic Weapons, Nid Monstrous Arms, and Nid Biomorphs.

That is a good deal and far too long in the waiting.

Why you would need that many plasma or meltas anymore is beyond me since traits are going bye bye.

Plastic is still king. Hybrid models are soooo 1997.

Traits may be going bye-bye, but Guard still need oodles of Meltas and Plasma Guns and I don't want to spend $4.50 a pop for a metal Melta or Plasma Gunner when I can convert one from a $1.75 plastic Cadian with a $1.20 special weapon. I mean, you gotta figure at least 5-8 Plasma Guns for your line squads and then another 3-8 Plasma/3-8 Melta for your dropping Command Squads and Hardened Vet Squads.

CSM can have 2 special weapons, too. But they get one of each on the upgrade sprue and guard don't. Psyched about the sonic weapons!

I guess the success of secondary markets such as Battlewagon.bitz has had an impact on GW after all.

At least the Biomorphs are there - with rippers!

Not really sure it will be a viable way to outfit an army with ripper bases or rending claws, but hey it is a start!

I too welcome the addition of these plasma guns. It will be but the work of a moment to saw the Marine hands off them and replace them with Guard ones. You could even forgo that step and instead give plasma gunners armored mitts.

This is good news. It'll be funny if they release assault cannons for cheap now. Weren't people paying like $15 a sprue just for the assault cannon, when taking two AC was all the rage?

its all part of the bitz range- instead of getting your one or 2 bitz at a big price- you get an entire cast run for jsut a wee bit more than the production costs.

Its what is replacing (slowly) the old bitz-pick-what-you-want system

bitz packs that are actually economically viable to produce and sell without making a loss

Actually when Gw took it all down, they mentioned that over time they would be rereleasing certain "controlled" bitz packs. It is just taking time for them to get it all ironed out.
