Hi all it's your friend GES (Golden Eyed Scout) here to ask if any one here reads comics (duh!). I will start off.

The rules of this thread are as follows:

1. State your username, when you got into comics, why you like comics, which ones you read, and why.

2. Tell whether or not your still into comics.

3. No saying f***. Or racial slurs.

4. Have fun.

And now to begin I will start:

Hi, my name's Golden Eyed Scout.

*group responds to GES* Hi Golden Eyed Scout!

I've been addicted to comics for about three years now. Because of comics I.... sniff.... got a job, and lost my money. Sniff. I like comics because they're quick and fun to read. I read WitchBlade, The Darkness, The Dark Tower(Gunslinger Born,Long Road Home, and Treachery arc.), Kick-Ass, New X-Men, and Gears of War. I read them because they match my personality. I am and always will be into comics. Thanks.

I read the same things scout reads. And in issue 122 of Witchblade one of the girl characters makes out with another girl character!

I also thought it touched on an important subject, sexuality in the world today and how different people would react to it.

Yeah, the native american chick (Rainmaker? something stereotypical). J Scott Campbell, you were so my buddy during my high school years

I happily haven't bought a comic in 3 years now, coinciding with my increase in warhammering. It was one or the other, and the one that cost $$ and took up loads of space had to go. By which I mean comics.

I collected them pretty much my whole life up 'til then though, and while there are some writers I'd follow I was much more likely to follow characters - Deadpool anything, which is killing me because the new series looks GOOD, and I followed Deadpool through some BAD times - but most often artists. Anything Mahnke (+ Nguyen = godlike, their run on JLA and then JLA Elite are truly wonderful, and Major Bummer as well in a rather different light), anything Bachalo (I've missed his spider-man stuff of late, but his X-men runs are totally enjoyable, to say nothing of Steampunk or the Death series), anything Ashley Wood (Hellspawn = hells yes).

But aye, characters & art was my thing. Frankly, it still kinda is, but I've stayed strong despite the wall of comics at my LGS ...

Now trade paperbacks, I'm not sure of my policy there. I'm clearly allowed to buy myself books, and trades take up so much less space and cost less .........

been into comics for too long to remember i had to sell most of my collection when i went to uni as the lack of space to put them anywhere was an issue, i still pick up the odd graphic novel here and there now, but favourite characters and series are as follows:

Iron Man
Spiderman
X-Men
Marvel Civil War (got me back into comics recently)
Marvel Zombies
Transformers (even the Marvel and GI Joe crossovers they were pretty fun)

@Scout: Why should I state my username

I got into comics through my brother about....I dunno, maybe 8 or 10 years ago. We were at the train station, my cousin just visited us for a few days and after the train left we went into the kiosk at the station and my brother saw "Heroes reborn: Iron Man #1" and he bought it for fun. We mostly knew Iron Man from the lame TV show. After reading the first 3 Iron Man issues, we realized that Marvel rebooted 3 other comics as well. (Some of you might be familiar with the Heroes Reborn concept). And from there it just became more and more. After Heroes Return, we quit Avengers and Fantastic Four because it became incredibly stupid (Heroes Reborn Avengers, wasn't that good either, but they crossovered a lot in that year, so you had to get them all). Then we started reading a lot of stuff. Spider-Man, Ennis' Punisher, The Darkness but we soon quit Iron Man and Captain America too, because most of those stories were also pretty bad in the late 90.

Spider-Man was a lot of ups and downs, which the infamous "Byrne" run being the lowest point till 2008. When J. Micheal Stratzynski (or however you write that guys name) took over Spider-Man it was the best thing that ever happened to the character. Until 2008.

My brother and I also enjoyd a bunch of the Ultimate titles, but now only read USM, which ironically, is now the only Spider-Man comic we read. Why, you ask? I'm not sure. I made a DEAL WITH THE DEVIL to forget everything about it.

We currently read Batman, but I'm afraid that the whole R.I.P. thing I read about on IGN might that up. US comic series usually take about a half to 3/4 year to get over the big pond.

Oh, I forgot to mention, we also read Hellboy, B.P.R.D. and Sin City.

There's a whole wiki on lesbian comic book characters, as well as a very funny site I found (at consequently lost) about 'secret' comics lesbians. The X-men have had at least a couple, too.

Like the UK comics then Gho5t? Alan Moore is my favourite writer, bar none. I also love the works of Mr Gaiman, especially his prose stuff.
Brian K Vaughan wrote an ace GN called Pride of Baghdad, which I heartily reccomend. It's very twee, but an enjoyable read.

I have been into comics ever since I picked up Swamp Thing #97, and have collected it ever since. It's by far Alan Moore's greatest achievement. That and the Watchmen.
I tend to read anything; from guilty pleasures like X-men and Transformers, to more serious stuff like Y:TLM and 100 Bullets.

I love comics, and have a rather large collection, even it I do trim it down and sell stuff off regularly. :-D

I've been a big comic reader for the last 20 or so years. My Grandmother would buy me comics as a treat whe I helped her in the garden.

My current monthly buys are;

Thor
Incredible Hercules
Daredevil
Deadpool
Batman
Detective Comics
Wolverine
Conan the Cimmerian
Kick Ass
Captain America
Ghost Rider

I once had abut 20 or so titles I was picking up a month, but after I got fed up with the average art on some of them I gave them the flick.

A lot of stuff like Hellboy, The League of Extraordinary Gentleman, Tom Strong, Lone Wolf and Cub etc. I'll pick up in volumes, because they are preferable for me to read like that.

Bah. Words plus art = comics.

Now bad comics I'll give you. I still read my share of bad comics, but that's because
I keep wanting to find new ones that are good, so I take the good with the bad. It's
kind of like the Internet that way (or anything else).
