I tired to make people in a german videogame-forum aware of my petition against ridicoulus youth protection laws in germany which really hurts the image gaming in our country.

I got banned because my first post was "advertising".

Oddly enough we are usually really laid back, but lately certain things are...different. We just moved to a new board, and there are still a lot of annoyances with it, so that might be causing issues.

I'm pretty close to getting banned on here, I think. I've received one of each type of official warning... if I get banned or suspended I'll write you and we can start our own forum. We'll call it "The Eye of Terror and Forum Spamming" and renegades who get banned on Dakka and so forth can come there.

I have yet to even get a warning on Dakka, so I'm doing something right, or wrong (depending on opinion, lol)

I've been warned on Warseer, their warning system is absolutely slowed though, those "points" don't go away for a YEAR. How butthurt do you have to be over a little obvious trolling (got a little zealous over something on the PP forums, elitism tends to make me froth at the mouth) to put that big bold WARNING on someone's profile for a full fething year?

I don't know, but I hate that site anyway. I only ever visit anymore when I'm really really bored, and I hardly ever post now, I just watch the project threads and look for rumors, though not so much the rumors since I go to BoLS every day anyway, and that's where everyone else gets their rumors from, apparently.

Anyway, that sucks for you. I mean I guess you could argue that you were pretty much asking for it, but still, that guy seems way too power-trippy for my taste. And then he has the nerve to insult you (I guess you could call it that, "No arguments here" counts right?) before swinging the banhammer? I say he should take a two week break for going along with it. I mean if calling yourself an idiot is bad, then surely agreeing with them is just as bannable?

Sidstyler: I know EXACTLY what you mean about elitism "över there". Their motto should be "Post like you gotta pair". There's some great folks, don't get me wrong, but I just started posting and there's some people already gettin uppity.

They're ruthless in their rules exploits, though. I will give them that.

On Topic: Welcome to Dakka. Careful how much you swim, sometimes the kids jump in this pool, too.

I was simply pissed off because of the crazed obsession over metal. They like to say some pretty nasty things, and obviously directed at Games Workshop/GW fans, about plastic models. Apparently plastic models are nothing more than "toys", and you all know how they are obviously inferior in quality and detail (not). GW fans are children, PP fans are big, hairy, manly men and they also have bigger penises than football players, etc. etc.

A metal model is still a god-damned toy, period. 13-year-old children can put together and paint a metal model. I did it. I've been playing with metal for years, it doesn't make you special in any way (certainly nothing to be a damn snob over) and it isn't necessarily superior to plastic, if anything it's even more of a pain in the ass and plastic has come a long way since then at that. The detail thing is becoming less and less of an issue now. And speaking of which, apparently they can bash GW all day long for charging $50 for a plastic kit, but paying $50 for a smaller metal model is totally cool because it weighs a ton. It "feels" like it's worth it, that's all that matters.

And that's just the metal > plastic crap. I said something about PP fans taking that PAGE 5 thing way too far and got a little carried away. Like you said, some of them are downright ruthless and play this game like it's a real test of your manhood. It's insane, it's fething miniatures, one of the dorkiest hobbies in the world, with LARPing being on the very bottom. But anyway, this specific issue that warranted the warning had to do with PP's recent announcement that they were going to plastic, and the reaction from all the frothing lunatics that only play the game because of OMG METAL FREAKING MODELS. IMO PP royally screwed up in the first place by making promises they couldn't keep and hyping up metal models so damn much, and now they realize just why it doesn't work. Their models are becoming ridiculously expensive (PP fans complain about their prices, too, GW aren't the only ones) and they need to go to plastic in order to keep costs down. You can probably imagine what happened, I think the thread eventually had to be locked...

Anyway, I refused to register for PP's forum just to argue with someone (and it was locked) so I went off on Warseer instead.

Wow! "...Idiot" is such strong and forceful language! I'm surprised you're not facing legal issues over it! Preceded by "...you are an..." makes it all the more vicious.

It seems silly but I did only read that small thread so I don't really understand what led up to it. The moderator does seem pretentious, though. Do you know him?

I totally 100% agree with you on the attitude of players of warmachine, in my FLGS, they just have one big freakin ego. not to mention they are grossly over weight. I thought 40k rules lawyers were bad. but man, these guys that play warmachine(at my local) are just freakin bad. Thats why i dont get into the hobby at all, i feel like im gona get freakin head ache just playing with one of the people there.

I got a warning from Warseer for what I perceived as simply pointing out how pointless a certain thread was. It was about the rumored changes to 40K in 5th edition, months before any of them were anywhere near confirmed. The same two or three self-important individuals had taken to disagreeing with each other loudly and at length about not only which of the new rules were more likely to be made official but which were best in their opinion. They would quote each others' entire previous posts and then pick them apart at length, repeating the same arguments without adding anything, except snide sarcastic slights. Their posts got longer and meaner until eventually this had gone on for eleven pages. After reading this, trying to remain positive that maybe there might be some wisdom to be had from at least one of them after such a spirited exchange, I snapped and fired of a post berating them for their waste of my time and their time and general abuse of the internet. With that, I was warned. Shortly afterward I came to Dakka and have only been back to Warseer when I was really bored. It really is the shallow end of the pool, where people wear their fingertips to the bone essentially saying "Are too!" "Are not!" "Are too!" "Are not!"
PS: I know I've pissed people off on Dakka with my wildly unpopular opinions now and then, and that is not going to end, but the level of discourse here is generally much higher than on Warseer.
