I dunno...

How many of you can play an instrument or sing? Let Dakka know! Post what you play, maybe even a pic of it, and let everyone know that you're musical!

As for myself I play 3 instruments, a Stentor Double Bass, a Yamaha Keyboard and a Stentor Cello, I have pics of the Bass and Keyboard but the Cello is stuck in a cupboard in my room...

I sang in an acclaimed highschool choir (We got all kinds of awards, were a featured choir GMEA) and have had a few stints singing for money in the past, very short though due to the erratic nature of my schooling and work. I've sang all the base ranges, baritone, and the lower to medium tenor ranges. I'm also a member of Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia.

I haven't sang in any kind of professional capacity or musically acclaimed group in quite awhile. It makes me a sad panda sometimes. I miss singing so much. But I'm sure I'll be able to pick it back up after I'm out of school. I keep myself prepared by singing a lot of the solos or just the songs I enjoyed in my past.

Once upon a time, I told myself it's better to be smart than lucky. Every day, the world proves me wrong a little more.

I've been playing the bass guitar for a looong time. I own an Epiphone, not sure of the model name, but I've had it for years.

I also have a bit of experience with the piano (not nearly as much), though I don't technically own one, and programming. Mainly, that's what I've been trying to get into lately.

I've played guitar and electric Bass since 1970. I've been playing in bands and singing lead vocal since then. I played the bar scene in the late 70's and early 80's didn't really like it, pay was awful and the living conditions were worse.

I've been playing with the same group of friends since 1973. Now we write and record extraordinary music to annoy our friends and families. I've found audio production to be just as much work as learning to play an instrument.

I also play keyboards badly.

I've got more guitars, basses, keyboards and gear than I can shake a stick at. It's as bad as my hoard of miniatures.

I play electric guitar, bass guitar, drums and acoustic guitar.

I play in a thrash style mostly but I do blues, stoner rock, doom (metal), black (metal), progressive (rock/metal) and grunge just as easily.

I was a classically trained percussionist so just about any percussion instrument and of course played a drum set as well. I was in a band for a few years but could never get them to actually follow through on any actual gigs so I left. I also used to be able to play the piano but it has been years since I have done so.

Let's start with a "band meeting" and get it over with.

Someone should invite their girlfriend into the band so we have something to talk about at the "band meeting".

Where should we meet?

YO DAKKA DAKKA!

I do keyboards. I do keyboards well.

Performance-wise I've only ever been a keyboardist, but I can play guitar well enough to record. Studied audio engineering for a year, but didn't learn anything new. I've been in some bands (metals), and enjoy composition a lot too. I can feed on student film projects for that fix though. Made a bit of money writing a jingle that was possibly never used... but it's far too hard to make money that way.

I like metal and progressive styles... um.. that's all that's relevant to my musicianship.

EDIT: What would the band be called?

I play the air bass guitar very well. Better than anyone in previously recorded history.

In all actuality, I am learning the bass guitar. I'm not very good.

My grandfather has an old Fender Jaguar in immaculate condition. What's more is he's a monster of a player too, although he mostly plays banjo nowadays.

I play drums and percussion. I play mostly drum set nowadays, but I can play pretty much any percussion instrument. I don't really like playing mallet percussion that much (xylophone, marimba, etc.), although I can play them, even though I'd be terribly out of practice now. I love playing timpani though.

I also dabble a bit with guitar and banjo, but I'm not really any good. Drums and percussion is my main thing.

And drum machines? Yuck! You drum machine guys are trying to put us honest percussionists out of business.

I've played bass for around 20 years,since I was 19,I've been in several bands(punk/thrash metal/etc ).
Had lots of fun, good times, great shows, but the responsability of children tapped me on the shoulder,so I had to settle down and get a real job.
I still bang out a few songs now and again, when the chance comes along.

I played guitar for about 10 years (I use past tense because it hasn't been a passion of mine for a few now), I dabble with piano, can program midi, am musically literate and can read and notate sheet music, and I've studied (continuing) composition/theory in college.

Musically, I'm into classical music, metal and JPOP. Pretty solid assortment huh.

That's only because we want a drummer that can't talk back.

Actually, I always wanted the drummer I play with to do the programming, but he sees it as a form of pulling his eye teeth out with a fork.

Was about to start a thread like this, but I guess it'd be a better idea to ressurect this one.

Looks like there's alot of bassists here! I'm also a bass player (not full-time). I love playing and building electric basses. I play electric, dabble in upright, and want to someday acquire/learn the guitarron (6 string mariachi bass). I have alot of basses, most of which have been in some way modified by me. Right now my built-from-parts jazz-style bass and franken-bass are getting alot of play through a VB-2 (200 watts of tubes!) and an avatar 4x10 cab.

My two current bands are a country act called Janesville (www.janesvillecountry.com) and an indie rock group called Pretty Side Down (website forthcoming)
